The opposite orientation of the ester spacers in the rodlike ligands L 4C12 (benzimidazole-OOC-phenyl) and L 5C12 (benzimidazole-COO-phenyl) drastically changes the electronic structure of the aromatic systems, without affecting their meridional tricoordination to trivalent lanthanides, Ln(III), and their thermotropic liquid crystalline (i.e., mesomorphic) behaviors. However, the rich mesomorphism exhibited by the complexes [Ln(L 4C12)(NO3)3] (Ln=La-Lu) vanishes in [Ln(L 5C12)(NO3)3], despite superimposable molecular structures and comparable photophysical properties. Density functional theory (DFT) and time-dependant DFT calculations performed in the gas phase show that the inversion of the ester spacers has considerable effects on the electronic structure and polarization of the aromatic groups along the strands, which control residual intermolecular interactions responsible for the formation of thermotropic liquid-crystalline phases. As a rule of thumb, an alternation of electron-poor and electron-rich aromatic rings favors intermolecular interactions between the rigid cores and consequently mesomorphism, a situation encountered for L 4C12, L 5C12, [Ln(L 4C12)(NO3)3], but not for [Ln(L 5C12)(NO3)3]. The intercalation of an additional electron-rich diphenol ring on going from [Ln(L 5C12)(NO3)3] to [Ln(L 6C12)(NO3)3] restores mesomorphism despite an unfavorable orientation of the ester spacers, in agreement with our simple predictive model.  相似文献

The promesogenic hexacatenar tridentate ligands L3(Cn) (I shape) and L4(Cn) (V shape) react with trivalent lanthanide trifluoroacetates, Ln((CF3CO2)3, to give either monometallic [Ln(Li(Cn))(CF3CO2)3] or trifluoroacetato-bridged bimetallic [Ln(Li(Cn))(CF3CO2)3]2 complexes in the solid state, as exemplified by the crystal structures of [Lu(L4(CO))(CF3CO2)3(H2O)], [Lu(L4(CO))(CF3CO2)3]2, and [La(L3(C4))(CF3CO2)3]2. Although the dimerization process is influenced by the competiting complexation of anions or solvent molecules, the coordination of CF3CO2- instead of NO3- to Ln(III) produces a significant lengthening of the Ln-N(ligand) bond distances. This translates into a considerable decrease of the affinity of the Li(C12) (i = 3, 4) ligands for Ln(CF3CO2)3 in solution, thus leading to significant dissociation of the [Ln(Li(C12))(CF3CO2)3] complexes at millimolar concentrations. The thermal properties of these complexes also suffer from their limited thermodynamic stability, and the thermotropic liquid crystalline phases produced at high temperatures reflect mixtures of different species. However, a hexagonal columnar organization characterizes the main component in the mesophases obtained with [Ln(L3(C12))(CF3CO2)3] at high temperature. A tentative interpretation of the small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) profiles suggests that disklike dimers of [Ln(L3(C12))(CF3CO2)3]2 are packed along the columnar axes. For [Ln(L4(C12))(CF3CO2)3], SAXS profiles are compatible with a lamellar organization in the mesophases originating from the existence of rodlike dimers of [Ln(L4(C12))(CF3CO2)3]2 as the major component in the liquid-crystal state.  相似文献

Metathesis of lanthanide tris di-tert-butyl beta-diketonates ([Ln(thd)3] Ln=Pr, Nd, Eu, Tb) with one or two equivalents of group 1 salts of the sulfur bridged binaphtholate dianion [1,1'-S(2-OC10H4But(2)-3,6)2]2-, [M2L], M=K, Li affords luminescent mono- and bis-ligand substituted complexes ML[LnL(thd)2].L; M=K, Ln=Pr , Nd , Eu and Tb (L=thf, diethyl ether or toluene) and M(thf)2[LnL2(thd)]; M=Li, Ln=Pr , Nd , Eu , Tb . The potassium salt [K2L] affords mono-L substituted complexes most cleanly, while the lithium salt [Li2L] yields the bis-L substituted complexes most cleanly. The L ligands function as antenna for the sensitised lanthanide-centred emission in Eu3+ and Tb3+ complexes. The X-ray single-crystal structures of mono- and bis-L lanthanide complexes of Nd3+ are presented.  相似文献

To tune the lanthanide luminescence in related molecular structures, we synthesized and characterized a series of lanthanide complexes with imidazole-based ligands: two tripodal ligands, tris{[2-{(1-methylimidazol-2-yl)methylidene}amino]ethyl}amine (Me(3)L), and tris{[2-{(imidazol-4-yl)methylidene}amino]ethyl}amine (H(3)L), and the dipodal ligand bis{[2-{(imidazol-4-yl)methylidene}amino]ethyl}amine (H(2)L). The general formulas are [Ln(Me(3)L)(H(2)O)(2)](NO(3))(3)·3H(2)O (Ln = 3+ lanthanide ion: Sm (1), Eu (2), Gd (3), Tb (4), and Dy (5)), [Ln(H(3)L)(NO(3))](NO(3))(2)·MeOH (Ln(3+) = Sm (6), Eu (7), Gd (8), Tb (9), and Dy (10)), and [Ln(H(2)L)(NO(3))(2)(MeOH)](NO(3))·MeOH (Ln(3+) = Sm (11), Eu (12), Gd (13), Tb (14), and Dy (15)). Each lanthanide ion is 9-coordinate in the complexes with the Me(3)L and H(3)L ligands and 10-coordinate in the complexes with the H(2)L ligand, in which counter anion and solvent molecules are also coordinated. The complexes show a screw arrangement of ligands around the lanthanide ions, and their enantiomorphs form racemate crystals. Luminescence studies have been carried out on the solid and solution-state samples. The triplet energy levels of Me(3)L, H(3)L, and H(2)L are 21?000, 22?700, and 23?000 cm(-1), respectively, which were determined from the phosphorescence spectra of their Gd(3+) complexes. The Me(3)L ligand is an effective sensitizer for Sm(3+) and Eu(3+) ions. Efficient luminescence of Sm(3+), Eu(3+), Tb(3+), and Dy(3+) ions was observed in complexes with the H(3)L and H(2)L ligands. Ligand modification by changing imidazole groups alters their triplet energy, and results in different sensitizing ability towards lanthanide ions.  相似文献

To explore the relationships between the structures of ligands and their complexes, we have synthesized and characterized a series of lanthanide complexes with two structurally related ligands, 1,1,1,1-tetrakis{[(2'-(2-benzylaminoformyl))phenoxyl]methyl}methane (L(I)) and 1,1,1,1-tetrakis{[(2'-(2-picolyaminoformyl))phenoxyl]methyl}methane (L(II)). A series of zero- to three-dimensional lanthanide coordination complexes have been obtained by changing the substituents on the Pentaerythritol. Our results revealed that, complexes of the L(I) ligand, {Ln(4)L(I)(3)(NO(3))(12).nC(4)H(10)O}(infinity) (Ln = Nd, Eu, Tb, Er, n = 3 or 6)] show the binodal 3,4-connected three-dimensional interpenetration coordination polymers with topology of a (8(3))(4)(8(6))(3) notation. Compared to L(I), complexes of L(II) present a cage-like homodinuclear [Ln(2)L(II)(2)(NO(3))(6).2H(2)O].nH(2)O (Ln = Nd, Tb, Dy, n = 0 or 1) or a helical one-dimensional coordination {[ErL(II)(NO(3))(3).H(2)O].H(2)O}(infinity) polymer. The luminescence properties of the resulting complexes formed with ions used in fluoroimmunoassays (Ln = Eu, Tb) are also studied in detail. It is noteworthy that subtle variation of the terminal group from benzene to pyridine not only sensibly affects the overall molecular structures but also the luminescence properties as well.  相似文献

This report covers studies in trivalent lanthanide complexation by two simple cyclohexanetriols that are models of the two coordination sites found in sugars and derivatives. Several complexes of trivalent lanthanide ions with cis,cis-1,3,5-trihydroxycyclohexane (L(1)()) and cis,cis-1,2,3-trihydroxycyclohexane (L(2)()) have been characterized in the solid state, and some of them have been studied in organic solutions. With L(1)(), Ln(L)(2) complexes are obtained when crystallization is performed from acetonitrile solutions whatever the nature of the salt (nitrate or triflate) [Ln(L(1)())(2)(NO(3))(2)](NO(3)) (Ln = Pr, Nd); [Ln(L(1)())(2)(NO(3))H(2)O](NO(3))(2) (Ln = Eu, Ho, Yb); [Ln(L(1)())(2)(OTf)(2)(H(2)O)](OTf) (Ln = Nd, Eu). Lanthanum nitrate itself gives a mixed complex [La(L(1)())(2)(NO(3))(2)][LaL(1)()(NO(3))(4)] from acetonitrile solution while [La(L(1)())(2)(NO(3))(2)](NO(3)) is obtained using dimethoxyethane as reaction solvent and crystallization medium. With L(2)(), Ln(L)(2) complexes have also been crystallized from methanol solution [Ln(L(2)())(2)(NO(3))(2)]NO(3), (Ln = Pr, Nd, Eu). Single-crystal X-ray diffraction analyses are reported for these complexes. Complex formation in solution has been studied for several triflate salts (La, Pr, Nd, Eu, and Yb) with L(1 )()and L(2)(), respectively in acetonitrile and in methanol. In contrast to the solid state, both structures Ln(L) and Ln(L)(2) equilibrate in solution, as was demonstrated by low-temperature (1)H NMR and electrospray ionization mass spectrometry experiments. Competing experiments in complexing abilities of L(1)() and L(2)() with trivalent lanthanide cations have shown that only L(2)() exhibits a small selectivity (Nd > Pr > Yb > La > Eu) in methanol.  相似文献

The connection of twelve peripheral and divergent dodecyloxy chains to a central tridentate aromatic binding unit provides the dodecacatenar ligand L11, for which room-temperature mesomorphism is detected. An enthalpically unbalanced large melting entropy (DeltaSmL11=226 J mol(-1) K(-1)) results from the programmed microsegregation induced in the crystalline phase, a phenomenon which is maintained in the associated lanthanide complexes [Ln(L11)(NO3)3] and [Ln(L11)(CF3CO2)3]2. The reactions of lanthanide nitrates, Ln(NO(3))(3), with bis(diphenylphosphino)methane dioxide, Ph(2)P(O)CH(2)P(O)Ph(2) (L), lead to complexes with three distinct classes of structure. At low ratios of Ln:L (<1:1.5) in acetonitrile the ionic complexes [Ln(NO(3))(2)L(2)](+)[Ln(NO(3))(4)L](-) (Ln = Pr, Eu) have been isolated. When carried out with a 1:2 or higher ratio in ethanol the reaction yields Ln(NO(3))(3)L(2) (Ln = La,Ce) and [Ln(NO(3))(2)L(2)H(2)O](+)[NO(3)](-) (Ln = Nd, Gd, Ho). Geometrical isomerism is found for the cations [Ln(NO(3))(2)L(2)H(2)O](+) and is attributed to the extent of hydrogen bonding to the coordinated water. Ligand redistribution occurs on heating in the solid state giving yellow solids in all cases. Crystallization of these materials from ethanol or acetonitrile gives [Ln(NO(3))L(3)](2+).2[NO(3)](-), which have been structurally characterized for Ln = Gd and Yb. Electrospray mass spectra indicate that extensive ligand exchange reactions occur in solution.  相似文献

The reaction of Ln(NO3)3.aq with K3[Cr(CN)6] and 2,2'-bipyridine (bpy) in a water/ethanol solution led to two families of complexes: 4 one-dimensional (1D) complexes of the formula trans-[Cr(CN)4(mu-CN)2Ln(H2O)3(bpy)2]n.4nH2O.3.5nbpy (Ln3+ = La, Ce, Pr, and Nd) and 10 1D complexes of the formula trans-[Cr(CN)4(mu-CN)2Ln(H2O)4(bpy)]n.3.5nH2O.1.5nbpy (Ln3+ = Nd, Sm, Eu, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, Yb, and Lu). The structures for the fourteen complexes [LaCr]n (1), [CeCr]n (2), [PrCr]n (3), [NdCr]n (4), [NdCr]n (4'), [SmCr]n (5), [EuCr]n (6), [TbCr]n (7), [DyCr]n (8), [HoCr]n (9), [ErCr]n (10), [TmCr]n (11), [YbCr]n (12), and [LuCr]n (13) have been solved. Complexes 1-4 crystallize in the orthorhombic space group Pbam and are isomorphous; complexes 4'-13 crystallize in the triclinic space group PI and are isomorphous. The X-ray structural characterization of complexes 1-4 shows the presence of a discrete decameric water cluster built around a cyclic hexameric core stabilized by the solid-state structure, which represents another new mode of association of water molecules. The Ln3+-Cr3+ magnetic interaction is negligible in 6 and 12, antiferromagnetic in 2, 4', 7, 8, 9, 10, and 11, and unresolved for 3. The complex 5 is a ferrimagnet because its magnetic studies suggest the onset of a very weak ferromagnetic three-dimensional ordering.  相似文献

Synthesis, structure, and reactivity of two families of rare-earth metal complexes containing discrete methyl cations [LnMe(2-x)(thf)n]((1+x)+) (x = 0, 1; thf = tetrahydrofuran) have been studied. As a synthetic equivalent for the elusive trimethyl complex [LnMe3], lithium methylates of the approximate composition [Li3LnMe6(thf)n] were prepared by treating rare-earth metal trichlorides [LnCl3(thf)n] with 6 equiv of methyllithium in diethyl ether. Heteronuclear complexes of the formula [Li3Ln2Me9L(n)] (Ln = Sc, Y, Tb; L = Et2O, thf) were isolated by crystallization from diethyl ether. Single crystal X-ray diffraction studies revealed a heterometallic aggregate of composition [Li3Ln2Me9(thf)n(Et2O)m] with a [LiLn2Me9](2-) core (Ln = Sc, Y, Tb). When tris(tetramethylaluminate) [Ln(AlMe4)3] (Ln = Y, Lu) was reacted with less than 1 equiv of [NR3H][BPh4], the dimethyl cations [LnMe2(thf)n][BPh4] were obtained. The coordination number as well as cis/trans isomer preference was studied by crystallographic and computational methods. Dicationic methyl complexes of the rare-earth metals of the formula [LnMe(thf)n][BAr4]2 (Ln = Sc, Y, La-Nd, Sm, Gd-Lu; Ar = Ph, C6H4F-4) were synthesized, by protonolysis of either the ate complex [Li3LnMe6(thf)n] (Ln = Sc, Y, Gd-Lu) or the tris(tetramethylaluminate) [Ln(AlMe4)3] (Ln = La-Nd, Sm, Dy, Gd) with ammonium borates [NR3H][BAr4] in thf. The number of coordinated thf ligands varied from n = 5 (Ln = Sc, Tm) to n = 6 (Ln = La, Y, Sm, Dy, Ho). The configuration of representative examples was determined by X-ray diffraction studies and confirmed by density-functional theory calculations. The highly polarized bonding between the methyl group and the rare-earth metal center results in the reactivity pattern dominated by the carbanionic character and the pronounced Lewis acidity: The dicationic methyl complex [YMe(thf)6](2+) inserted benzophenone as an electrophile to give the alkoxy complex [Y(OCMePh2)(thf)5](2+). Nucleophilic addition of the soft anion X(-) (X(-) = I(-), BH4(-)) led to the monocationic methyl complexes [YMe(X)(thf)5](+).  相似文献

The unsymmetrical tridentate benzimidazole-pyridine-carboxamide units in ligands L1-L4 react with trivalent lanthanides, Ln(III), to give the nine-co-ordinate triple-helical complexes [Ln(Li)3]3+ (i = 1-4) existing as mixtures of C3-symmetrical facial and C1-symmetrical meridional isomers. Although the beta13 formation constants are 3-4 orders of magnitude smaller for these complexes than those found for the D3-symmetrical analogues [Ln(Li)3]3+ (i = 5-6) with symmetrical ligands, their formation at the millimolar scale is quantitative and the emission quantum yield of [Eu(L2)3]3+ is significantly larger. The fac-[Ln(Li)3]3+ <--> mer-[Ln(Li)3]3+ (i = 1-4) isomerisation process in acetonitrile is slow enough for Ln = Lu(III) to be quantified by 1H NMR below room temperature. The separation of enthalpic and entropic contributions shows that the distribution of the facial and meridional isomers can be tuned by the judicious peripheral substitution of the ligands affecting the interstrand interactions. Molecular mechanics (MM) calculations suggest that one supplementary interstrand pi-stacking interaction stabilises the meridional isomers, while the facial isomers benefit from more favourable electrostatic contributions. As a result of the mixture of facial and meridional isomers in solution, we were unable to obtain single crystals of 1:3 complexes, but the X-ray crystal structures of their nine-co-ordinate precursors [Eu(L1)2(CF3SO3)2(H2O)](CF3SO3)(C3H5N)2(H2O) (6, C45H54EuF9N10O13S3, monoclinic, P2(1)/c, Z = 4) and [Eu(L4)2(CF3SO3)2(H2O)](CF3SO3)(C4H4O)(1.5) (7, C51H66EuF9N8O(15.5)S3, triclinic, P1, Z = 2) provide crucial structural information on the binding mode of the unsymmetrical tridentate ligands.  相似文献

The synthesis and characterisation of the first neutral cerium dialkyl dithiocarbamate complexes, using a novel oxidative displacement of the amido ligands of [Ce[N(SiMe3)2]3] by tetraalkylthiuram disulfides [R2NC(S)S]2(R = Me, Et) in thf solution, are reported. In the absence of other donors, the complexes [Ce(kappa2-S2CNMe2)3(thf)2] and Ce(kappa2-S2CNEt2)3) 3 were obtained. The addition of a polypyridyl ligand allowed easy access to a range of complexes of general formula [Ce(kappa2-S2CNR2)3(L[intersection]L)][R = Me and L([intersection])L = 2,2'-bipy (4), or 4,7-diphenyl-1,10-phenanthroline (6); or R = Et and L[intersection]L = 2,2'-bipy (5)]. Brief exposure of the Ce(III) dithiocarbamate to oxygen gas afforded in high yield the diamagnetic, crystalline Ce(IV) dithiocarbamate [Ce(kappa2-S2CNEt2)4)] 7. The neodymium (8) and terbium (10) complexes, isoleptic with 2, were prepared from the appropriate 4f metal (Ln) bis(trimethylsilyl)amide [Ln[pN(SiMe3)2]3][Ln = Nd or Tb (9)] and [Me2NC(S)S]2. The structures of the crystalline complexes, 2, 4, 6, 7, 9 and 10 have been determined by X-ray crystallography. Some evidence has been obtained for the formation of the cerium(IV) complex Ce[N(SiMe3)2]2(kappa2-S2CNMe2)2. The cerium(IV) complex 7 has the metal coordinated to eight sulfur atoms of four planar chelating S2CNC2 moities and its geometry is intermediate between dodecahedral and square prismatic; the mean Ce-S bond length of 2.803 A in 7 compares with the 2.950 A in the Ce(III) complex 2.  相似文献

The reactions of potentially hexadentate H2bbpen (N,N'-bis(2-hydroxybenzyl)-N,N'-bis(2-pyridylmethyl)-ethylenediamine, H2L1), H2(Cl)bbpen (N,N'-bis(5-chloro-2-hydroxybenzyl)-N,N'-bis(2-pyridylmethyl)ethylenediamine, H2L2), and H2(Br)bbpen (N,N'-bis(5-bromo-2-hydroxybenzyl)-N,N'-bis(2-pyridylmethyl)ethylenediamine, H2L3) with Ln(III) ions in the presence of a base in methanol resulted in three types of complexes: neutral mononuclear ([LnL(NO3)]), monocationic dinuclear ([Ln2L2(NO3)]+), and monocationic trinuclear ([Ln3L2(X)n(CH3OH)]+), where X = bridging (CH3COO-) and bidentate ligands (NO3-, CH3COO-, ClO4-) and n is 4. The formation of a complex depends on the base (hydroxide or acetate) and the size of the respective Ln(III) ion. All complexes were characterized by infrared spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, and elemental analyses; in some cases, X-ray diffraction studies were also performed. The structures of the neutral mononuclear [Yb(L1)(NO3)], dinuclear [Pr2(L1)2(NO3)(H2O)]NO3.CH3OH and [Gd2(L1)2(NO3)]NO3.CH3OH.3H2O, and trinuclear [Gd3(L3)2(CH3COO)4(CH3OH)]ClO4.5CH3OH and [Sm3(L1)2(CH3COO)2(NO3)2(CH3OH)]NO3.CH3OH.3.65H2O were solved by X-ray crystallography. The [LnL(NO3)] or [Ln2L2(NO3)]+ complexes could be converted to [Ln3L2(X)n(CH3OH)]+ complexes by the addition of 1 equiv of a Ln(III) salt and 2-3 equiv of sodium acetate in methanol. The trinuclear complexes were found to be the most stable of the three types, which was evident from the presence of the intact monocationic high molecular weight parent peaks ([Ln3L2(X)n]+) in the mass spectra of all the trinuclear complexes and from the ease of conversion from the mononuclear or dinuclear to the trinuclear species. The incompatibility of the ligand denticity with the coordination requirements of the Ln(III) ions was proven to be a useful tool in the construction of multinuclear Ln(III) metal ion arrays.  相似文献

The reactivity of [Cp(2)Ln(mu-OH)(THF)]2 (Ln = Y (1), Er (2), Yb (3)) toward PhEtCCO, PhNCO, Cp3Ln, [Cp2Ln(mu-CH3)]2, and the LiCl adduct of Cp2Ln(n)Bu(THF)x was examined. In all cases, OH-centered reactivity is observed: complexes 1-3 react with PhEtCCO to form the O-H addition products [Cp2Ln(mu-eta1:eta2-O2CCHEtPh)]2 (Ln = Yb (5), Er (6), Y (7), respectively, for 1-3), whereas treatment of 1 with PhNCO affords the addition/CpH-elimination/rearrangement product [{Cp2Y(THF)}2(mu-eta2:eta2-O2CNPh)] (8), which contains an unusual PhNCO(2) dianionic ligand. Analogous compound [Cp2Ln(THF)]2(mu-eta2:eta2-O2CNPh) (Ln = Yb (9), Er (10)) and 8 can be obtained in a higher yield by treatment of [Cp2Ln(mu-OH)(THF)]2 with PhNCO followed by reaction with the corresponding Cp3Ln. However, attempts to prepare the corresponding heterobimetallic complex by reacting stoichiometric amounts of [Cp2Y(mu-OH)(THF)]2 with PhNCO followed by treating it with Cp3Yb are unsuccessful. Instead, only rearrangement products 8 and 9 are obtained. Furthermore, the reaction of 3 with [Cp2Yb(mu-CH3)]2 or Cp3Yb forms oxo-bridged compound [Cp2Yb(THF)]2(mu-O) (11), whereas the reaction of [Cp2ErCl]2 with Li(n)Bu followed by treatment with 2 affords unexpected mu-oxo lanthanocene cluster (Cp2Er)3(mu-OH)(mu3-O)(mu-Cl)Li(THF)4 (12). In contrast to 1 and 2, 3 shows a strong tendency to undergo the intermolecular elimination of CpH at room temperature, giving trinuclear species [Cp2Yb(mu-OH)]2[CpYb(THF)](mu3-O) (4). The single-crystal X-ray diffraction structures of 1, 2, and 4-12 are described. All the results offer an interesting contrast to transition- and main-metal hydroxide complexes.  相似文献

A series of 3d-4f heterobimetallic phenylene-bridged Schiff base complexes of the general formula [Zn(mu-L1)Ln(NO3)3(S)n] [Ln = La (1), Nd (2), Gd (3), Er (4), Yb (5); S = H(2)O, EtOH; n = 1, 2; H2L1 = N,N'-bis(3-methoxysalicylidene)phenylene-1,2-diamine] and [Zn(mu-L2)Ln(NO3)3(H2O)n] [Ln = La (6), Nd (7), Gd (8), Er (9), Yb (10); n = 1, 2; H(2)L(2) = N,N'-bis(3-methoxy-5-p-tolylsalicylidene)phenylene-1,2-diamine] were synthesized and characterized. Complexes 1, 2, 4, and 7 were structurally characterized by X-ray crystallography. At room temperature in CH(3)CN, both neodymium(III) (2 and 7) and ytterbium(III) (5 and 10) complexes also exhibited, in addition to the ligand-centered emission in the UV-vis region, their lanthanide(III) ion emission in the near-infrared (NIR) region. The photophysical properties of the zinc(II) phenylene-bridged complexes (ZnL1 and ZnL2) were measured and compared with those of the corresponding zinc(II) ethylene-bridged complexes (ZnL3 and ZnL4). Our results revealed that, at 77 K, both ligand-centered triplet (3LC) and singlet (1LC) states existed for the ethylene-bridged complexes (ZnL3 and ZnL4), whereas only the (1)LC state was detected for the phenylene-bridged complexes (ZnL1 and ZnL2). NIR sensitization studies of [Zn(mu-L')Nd(NO3)3(H2O)n] (L' = L1-L4) complexes further showed that Nd3+ sensitization took place via the 3LC and 1LC states when the spacer between the imine groups of the Schiff base ligand was an ethylene and a phenylene unit, respectively. Ab initio calculations show that the observed differences can be attributed to the difference in the molecular vibrational properties and electron densities of the electronic states between the ethylene- and phenylene-bridged complexes.  相似文献

Eighteen trinuclear NiII2LnIII complexes of 2,6-di(acetoacetyl)pyridine (H2L) (Ln=La-Lu except for Pm) were prepared by a "one-pot reaction" of H2L, Ni(NO3)2.6H2O, and Ln(NO3)3.nH2O in methanol. X-ray crystallographic studies indicate that two L2- ligands sandwich two NiII ions with the terminal 1,3-diketonate sites and one LnIII ion with the central 2,6-diacylpyridine site, forming the trinuclear [Ni2Ln(L)2] core of a linear NiLnNi structure. The terminal Ni assumes a six-coordinate geometry together with methanol or water molecules, and the central Ln assumes a 10-coordinate geometry together with two or three nitrate ions. The [Ni2Ln(L)2] core is essentially coplanar for large Ln ions (La, Ce, Pr, Nd) but shows a distortion with respect to the two L2- ligands for smaller Ln ions. Magnetic studies for the Ni2Ln complexes of diamagnetic LaIII and LuIII indicate an antiferromagnetic interaction between the terminal NiII ions. A magnetic analysis of the Ni2Gd complex based on the isotropic Heisenberg model indicates a ferromagnetic interaction between the adjacent NiII and GdIII ions and an antiferromagnetic interaction between the terminal NiII ions. The magnetic properties of other Ni2Ln complexes were studied on the basis of a numerical approach with the Ni2La complex and analogous Zn2Ln complexes, and they indicated that the NiII-LnIII interaction is weakly antiferromagnetic for Ln=Ce, Pr, and Nd and ferromagnetic for Ln=Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, and Er.  相似文献

Lanthanide nitrate complexes with the heptadentate ligand L (6-[2-(2-(diethylamino)-2-oxoethoxy)ethyl]-N,N,12-triethyl-11-oxo-3,9-dioxa-6,12-diazatetradecanamide), [Ln(2)L(NO(3))(6)] (Ln = La, Nd, Sm, Eu, Ho), have been prepared and characterized. The X-ray crystallographic studies show that, in [La(2)L(NO(3))(6)(H(2)O)].H(2)O (1), two complex cations [LaL(H(2)O)](3+) are linked by a hexanitrato anion [La(NO(3))(6)](3)(-) and form a trinuclear cation. In [Nd(2)L(NO(3))(6)(H(2)O)].CHCl(3).1/2CH(3)OH.1/2H(2)O (2), one complex cation [NdL(H(2)O)](3+) and a hexanitrato complex anion [Nd(NO(3))(6)](3)(-) are linked by a bridging NO(3)(-) to form a dinuclear complex. In both complexes, the bridging nitrate is an unusual tetradentate ligand. The metal ions are 12-coordinated in hexanitrato anions and 10-coordinated in complex cations. The chainlike supramolecular structures of La(3+) complex are parallel and have no hydrogen bonds in between, while, in the Nd(3+) complex, a chiral cavity is formed by hydrogen bonds between two adjacent supramolecular chains. These influences are further investigated by assessing the separation efficiency of L and (1)H NMR spectra of its lanthanide nitrate mixtures in solution.  相似文献

New heterospin complexes have been obtained by combining the binuclear complexes [{Cu(H(2)O)L(1)}Ln(O(2)NO)(3)] or [{CuL(2)}Ln(O(2)NO)(3)] (L(1) = N,N'-propylene-di(3-methoxysalicylideneiminato); L(2) = N,N'-ethylene-di(3-methoxysalicylideneiminato); Ln = Gd(3+), Sm(3+), Tb(3+)), with the mononuclear [CuL(1)(2)] and the nickel dithiolene complexes [Ni(mnt)(2)](q)- (q = 1, 2; mnt = maleonitriledithiolate), as follows: (1)infinity[{CuL(1)}(2)Ln(O(2)NO){Ni(mnt)(2)}].Solv.CH(3)CN (Ln = Gd(3+), Solv = CH(3)OH (1), Ln = Sm(3+), Solv = CH(3)CN (2)) and [{(CH(3)OH)CuL(2)}(2)Sm(O(2)NO)][Ni(mnt)(2)] (3) with [Ni(mnt)2]2-, [{(CH(3)CN)CuL(1)}(2)Ln(H(2)O)][Ni(mnt)(2)]3.2CH(3)CN (Ln = Gd(3+) (4), Sm(3+) (5), Tb(3+) (6)), and [{(CH(3)OH)CuL(2)}{CuL(2)}Gd(O(2)NO){Ni(mnt)(2)}][Ni(mnt)(2)].CH(2)Cl(2) (7) with [Ni(mnt))(2]*-. Trinuclear, almost linear, [CuLnCu] motifs are found in all the compounds. In the isostructural 1 and 2, two trans cyano groups from a [Ni(mnt)2]2- unit bridge two trimetallic nodes through axial coordination to the Cu centers, thus leading to the establishment of infinite chains. 3 is an ionic compound, containing discrete [{(CH(3)OH)CuL(2)}(2)Sm(O(2)NO)](2+) cations and [Ni(mnt)(2)](2-) anions. Within the series 4-6, layers of discrete [CuLnCu](3+) motifs alternate with stacks of interacting [Ni(mnt)(2)](*-) radical anions, for which two overlap modes, providing two different types of stacks, can be disclosed. The strength of the intermolecular interactions between the open-shell species is estimated through extended Hückel calculations. In compound 7, [Ni(mnt)(2)](*-) radical anions coordinate group one of the Cu centers of a trinuclear [Cu(2)Gd] motif through a CN, while discrete [Ni(mnt)(2)](*-) units are also present, overlapping in between, but also with the coordinated ones. Furthermore, the [Cu(2)Gd] moieties dimerize each other upon linkage by two nitrato groups, both acting as chelate toward the gadolinium ion from one unit and monodentate toward a Cu ion from the other unit. The magnetic properties of the gadolinium-containing complexes have been determined. Ferromagnetic exchange interactions within the trinuclear [Cu(2)Gd] motifs occur. In the compounds 4 and 7, the [Ni(mnt)(2)](*-) radical anions contribution to the magnetization is clearly observed in the high-temperature regime, and most of it vanishes upon temperature decrease, very likely because of the rather strong antiferromagnetic exchange interactions between the open-shell species. The extent of the exchange interaction in the compound 7, which was found to be antiferromagnetic, between the coordinated Cu center and the corresponding [Ni(mnt)(2)](*-) radical anion, bearing mostly a 3p spin type, was estimated through CASSCF/CASPT2 calculations. Compound 6 exhibits a slow relaxation of the magnetization.  相似文献
