Configuration interaction studies of ground, n_ → π*, n+ → π*, and π → π* electronically excited states are reported for nitroso-methane in its eclipsed equilibrium geometry. The first (n_ → π*) and the second (n+ → π*) singlet states are calculated at 2.17 and 7.14 eV. it is shown that a significant delocalization of the nonbonding orbitals on the nitrogen and oxygen is responsible for the large energy gap between these two states. The two lowest triplet states occur at 1.29 and 5.39 eV and are of n_ → π* and π → π* origin.  相似文献

Various electronically excited states of pyrrole have been studied by ab initio SCF and CI calculations including π → π* and π → Rydberg excitations. Optically allowed valence type transitions are found at energies higher than 6.5 eV whereas all the lower singlet states are of Rydberg type. In addition to the experimentally known triplet states at 4.23 and 5.10 eV, several new triplet transitions with energies from 5.71 to 7.10 eV are predicted. In most cases good agreement with experimental data is found.  相似文献

Abstract

Large-scale multi-reference single and double-excitation configuration interaction (MRD-CI) calculations are employed for the study of the isovalent compounds H2CNH, HLSiNH, hLCPH and H2SiPH in their ground state equilibrium geometry. The dipole moments and charge distributions are given. The vertical excitation energies to the intravalence states 3,1 (n, π*) and 3,1(π,π*) and to the first members of the Rydberg series originating from n and - MO's respectively are predicted; the first two ionization potentials and the Rydberg term values are also calculated. In H2CNH, mixing of Rydberg and valence-shell states with CN stretching is analyzed. The trends in relative stability of electronic and ionized states can be directly related to increased orbital stability of n relative to π as soon as a first-row constituent is replaced by a second-row atom. The calculations explain the diffuse character of the uv spectrum of imines; they treat the molecules H2SiNH and H2SiPH for the first time and present a large number of data for all four molecules which can serve as a basis for future experimental investigations on these and related compounds.  相似文献

Trapped electron (TE) spectra are obtained using ion cyclotron resonance detection of scavenged electrons. The lowest singlet-triplet transitions, 3(n→π*), in formamide (HCONH2) and N,N-dimethyl formamide (HCONMe2) are found at vertical energies of 5.30 and 5.00 eV, respectively. An unresolved band containing the 3(π→π*) and 3(n→3s) states appears at higher energies, centered at 6.60 and 6.00 eV, respectively. The TE spectra of formaldehyde (HCHO), acetaldehyde (MeCHO) and acetone (Me2CO) are obtained for comparison and are used along with results from ab initio theoretical calculations in establishing assignments. Singlet-triplet transitions dominate the spectra of all of these carbonyl containing molecules, to the exclusion of low lying singlet-singlet transitions. This is in agreement with other TE spectra and the expectation that (dσ/dE) will be higher near threshold for singlet-triplet as compared to singlet-singlet transitions.  相似文献

All-valence-electron Cl calculations have been carried out for diborane B2H6 and its positive ion employing a rather large double-zeta AO basis including polarization functions in order to study the electronic spectrum of this system. Transitions from four different valence MOs are found to lead to low-lying electronic transitions of both Rydberg and valence type in each case. Ad mixture of valence character in the otherwise Rydberg-like (nx, 3s), (ny, 3s) and (σ, 3pz) transitions calculated to lie between 11.0 and 11.6 eV is indicated as being primarily responsible for the highly intense shoulder found in this region of the B2H6 spectrum. The other strong feature with essentially continuous absorption peaking at 9.3 eV is suggested to result from superposition of several Rydberg-type transitions in the generally broad absorption pattern expected for the 1(π,π*) species at significantly higher vertical excitation energy. Quite good agreement is obtained between calculation and experiment for all of the six lowest IPs of diborane and also for the locations of the 1(n, π*) and 1(σ, π*) transitions previously assigned to the two weak features observed at 6.8 and 8.3 eV in this spectrum.  相似文献

The electronic excited states of the olefin 1,1′‐bicylohexylidene (BCH) are investigated using multiconfigurational complete active space self‐consistent‐field second order perturbation theory in its multi‐state version (MS‐CASPT2). Our calculations undoubtedly show that the bulk of the intensity of the two unusually intense bands of the UV absorption of BCH measured with maxima at 5.95 eV and 6.82 eV in the vapor phase are due to a single ππ* valence excitation. Sharp peaks reported in the vicinity of the low‐energy feature in the gas phase correspond to the beginning of the π3sR Rydberg series. By locating the origin of the ππ* band at 5.63 eV, the intensity and broadening of the observed bands and their presence in solid phase is explained as the vibrational structure of the valence ππ* transition, which underlies the Rydberg manifold as a quasi‐continuum.  相似文献

An ab initio SCF and CI study has been carried out for the ground and electronically excited states of biacetyl (CH3COCOCH3). The second absorption band in the 4.40 eV region has been assigned to a 1Ag1Bg* transition The character of the lower-lying states has been analyzed in terms of the CI wavefunctions.  相似文献

Ab initio SCF CI calculations with a minimal STO-3G basis set have been performed on the hydrogen bonded dimers in which H2O is the proton donor to H2CO in its relaxed singlet and triplet n→π* states. Two dimers which are easily interconverted are found in the singet n→π* state with hydrogen bond energies of 1.82 and 1.71 kcal/mole. The equilibrium dimer in the triplet state has a hydrogen bond energy of 2.97 kcal/mole. In both states, hydrogen bond formation occurs at the carbon atom. The structures of the dimers and the nature of the intermolecular surfaces in the regions of hydrogen bond formation are examined. Electron densities and distributions are also discussed.  相似文献

The ground state and 1B2 excited state of Cu(C2H4)+ and of CuX(C2H4) (X  F, Cl) have been investigated by the Hartree-Fock-Slater (HFS) method. The main metal-ligand interactions in the ground state are ethene π → Cu 4s donation and Cu 3dπ → ethene π* backdonation, which have comparable contributions to the metal-ligand bond strength. The excitation of CuX(C2H4) does not involve an alkene π → metal charge transfer (LMCT), but instead is metal 3d → alkene π* charge transfer (MLCT) in character. The implications for the photochemistry of olefin-copper(I) complexes are discussed.  相似文献

The Balmer α and β lines produced in e-NH3 collisions have been measured precisely with the use of a Fabry-Perot interferometer. These lines are not polarized. The translational energy distributions of (H*(n = 3,4) were determined from analysis of Doppler lineshapes and have five components; their peaks lie at 1, 3, 2, 4–5 and 8–12 eV. The excitation function [H*(n = 4)] has five thresholds at 22.5, 29.0, 33.3, 38.9 and 41.7 eV, and indicates that five dissociation processes contribute to the formation of H*. Excitation to the Rydberg states converging to the (2a1)?1 state of NH3+ is a major process for the formation of the first and the second components. Doubly excited Rydberg states play important roles in the dissociative excitation of NH3.  相似文献

Ab initio self-consistent-field (SCF ) and configuration interaction (CI ) calculations on the ground and excited states of carbonyl fluoride (F2CO) were carried out at its experimental ground-state equilibrium geometry. Vertical transition energies deduced from the CI results provide assignments for the electronic systems I–IV, experimentally observed by Workman and Duncan. The singlet excited state, 1A1 (π→π*), is found to be a mixed valence–Rydberg state and to he 1 to 1.2 eV above the suggested experimental value, irrespective of the choice of the basis used for the CI calculations.  相似文献

SCF CI calculations have been performed to investigate LiXXX association with excited bases R2CO. Although association leads to large increases in n → π1 transition energies, the complexes R2COLiXXX remain bound in the n → π1 state, but are destabilized relative to the ground state. In the LiXXX-urea complex, the n → π1 A2, state lies slightly above a charge-transfer π → σ* A2 state.  相似文献

The configuration of the lowest excited state of acenaphthenone, S1(π, π*) or T1(π, π*), depending on the solvent, dominates photoluminescence. The T1(n, π*) state in aprotic organic solvents is responsible for the phosphorescence of acenaphthenone. The wavelengths of the phosphorescence measured in benzene are 576 nm and 635 nm (vibronic) with 3.3 × 10?4 quantum efficiency. However, the S1(π, π*) state in protic solution which dominates the fluorescence emission depending upon acidity is the most distinctive feature of acenaphthenone. The wavelengths of the emissions are 446 nm under water solvation with 0.185 quantum efficiency and 538 nm with 0.097 quantum efficiency under high acidity. The emission at 446 nm is assigned from a H-bonded keto-form excited state, whereas the emission at 538 nm is probably due to the excited state of protonated keto-form. The pKa value in aqueous solution measured by diminution of fluorescence in basic solutions is 12.5 ± 0.4.  相似文献

The low-lying valence excited states and Rydberg states of the radical species from the ring-opening reactions in pyrolysis of furan biofuels have been determined by extensive density functional theory and sophisticated wave function theory calculations. The radicals 1-C4H5O-2, 2-furylCH2, and 4-C6H7O with the delocalized π-type single electron are predicted to be most stable among the reactive species here for furan, 2-methyfuran, and 2,5-dimethylfuran, respectively. Predicted vertical transition energies by TD-CAM-B3LYP show good agreement with those by CASPT2. Some among the electronic excitations to low-lying states can take place in the visible light region, and they may be involved in the combustion process. Further surface hopping dynamics simulations on the excited states of the most stable ring-opening radical 1-C4H5O-2 of furan as an example reveal that 89.9% sampling trajectories at the initial excited state of 22A”(π1π*2) decay to the 12A’(n1π*2) state within an average of 384 fs, and then 81.2% trajectories at the 12A’ state go to the ground state within an average of 114 fs. At the end of the simulation for 1000 fs, 18.8% trajectories still stay on the excited states of 22A” and 12A’, suggesting that the reactive radicals in the ground state are mainly responsible for the combustion chemistry of furan biofuels. © 2018 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

Density functional theory and time-dependent density-functional theory have been used to investigate the photophysical properties and relaxation dynamics of dimethylaminobenzophe-none (DMABP) and its hydrogen-bonded DMABP-MeOH dimer. It is found that, in non-polar aprotic solvent, the transitions from S0 to S1 and S2 states of DMABP have both n→π* and π→π* characters, with the locally excited feature mainly located on the C=O group and the partial CT one characterized by electron transfer mainly from the dimethylaminophenyl group to the C=O group. But when the intermolecular hydrogen bond C=O…H-O is formed, the highly polar intramolecular charge transfer character switches over to the first excited state of DMABP-MeOH dimer and the energy difference between the two low-lying electronically excited states increases. To gain insight into the relaxation dynamics of DMABP and DMABP-MeOH dimer in the excited state, the potential energy curves for con-formational relaxation are calculated. The formation of twisted intramolecular charge trans-fer state via diffusive twisting motion of the dimethylamino/dimethylaminophenyl groups is found to be the major relaxation process. In addition, the decay of the S1 state of DMABP-MeOH dimer to the ground state, through nonradiative intermolecular hydrogen bond stretching vibrations, is facilitated by the formation of the hydrogen bond between DMABP and alcohols.  相似文献

Calculations using the MRD CI method are reported for the ground and low lying excited states of C3. Transitions from the 3σu, 4σg and 1πu MO's into 1πg are considered, as well as the 1πu → 3s Rydberg species and the corresponding ionization, and good agreement with experimental data is obtained where comparison is possible. Potential curves calculated for the ground and (1πu → 1πg) 1Σ+u excited state are discussed.  相似文献

Threshold electron-impact excitation spectra, transmission spectra and n→n* excitation functions are presented for formaldehyde, acetaldehyde and acetone. Formation of temporary negative ion states and their decay-channels are discussed. The electronic transition near 4 eV is shown to be due both to triplet and singlet n→n* excitation. The energy positions of the 3n→n* and first triplet Rydberg transition are accurately located. In formaldehyde a new transition is reported at 8.50 eV. Assignments are given for the observed electronic excitation processes.  相似文献

Visible and ultraviolet spectra of the unstable species, thioacetaldehyde, CH3CHS, thioacetone, (CH3)2CS, and thioacetone-d6 have been studied in the gas phase. The valence n → π* excitations, Ã ← X? and ã ← X?, have been identified. Rydberg n → 4s, 4py and 4pz and π → π* valence excitations have been found in thioacetone. In thioacetaldehyde a Rydberg-valence interaction mixes the n,4s and π,π* states which leads to a broad absorption of mixed character between 200 and 220 nm.  相似文献
