Antiproton-proton elastic scattering data at 6.2 GeV/c in the range 0.3 (GeV/c)2 ? ?t ? 10.0 (GeV/c)2 is presented. The experiment, using spark chambers and proportional chambers, was performed at the CERN Proton Synchroton.The dip at about ?t = 0.5 and the structure at about ?t = 2.2 (GeV/c)2 are equally strong at 6.2 GeV/c as they are at 5.0 GeV/c. The differential cross sections around 90° c.m. are not very different at 5.0 GeV/c and at 6.2 GeV/c, whereas in the backward region there is a decrease of the order of one magnitude.  相似文献

The pronounced dip-bump structure with a sharp minimum at |t| = 1.5 (GeV/c)2, recently observed in elastic pp scattering at PL = 50 GeV/c at the CERN SPS, is explained by the quark multiple scattering model with a realistic wavefunction for the proton and the antiproton. It is predicted that a second dip will appear around |t| = 7 (GeV/c)2 at PL = 50 GeV/ c and at higher energies.  相似文献

The inclusive production of π+ for 0.4≤pT<1.0 GeV/c in pion-nucleus and proton-nucleus collisions at 4.3 GeV/c was measured. A strong A-dependence of the cross sections at high pT is observed to be persistent in the low energy region. The ratio of the cross sections for proton-nucleus and pion-nucleus collisions is also observed to be compatible with the quark-parton picture, for pT>0.6 GeV/c.  相似文献

Charge transfer distributions in π?p interactions at 40 GeV/c were studied. Agreement between the neutral cluster model and the data was found. The half-width of the cluster was found to be σ = 0.79 ± 0.02 which is consistent with the assumption of isotropic cluster decay.  相似文献

Along with ?? 0 and ?? mesons, a resonance structure in the invariant mass spectrum of two photons atM ??? = 360 ± 7 ± 9 MeV is observed in dC interactions at momentum 2.75 GeV/c per nucleon. This resonance structure is not observed in pC collisions at the beam momentum 5.5 GeV/c. The result obtained in the reaction dC is confirmed by the second experiment carried out on the deuteron beam at momentum 3.83 GeV/c per nucleon with a copper target. A structure has been observed at 2220 MeV in the mass spectrum of ηη′ systems produced by 38GeV/c and 100 GeV/c′ negative pions on protons. The angular distribution of the decay products shows that this structure is presumably a spin J ⩾ 2 meson.  相似文献

Antiproton-proton elastic scattering has been measured at 5 GeV/c. A total of 30 000 events were observed in the angular range 17° < θcm < 136°, corresponding to 0.3 < −t < 7.7 (GeV/c2). In addition to the known dip at −t = 0.5 (GeV/c)2, we observe a structure at about −t = 2 (GeV/c)2 and a backward peak with a slope4.1 ± 0.6 (GeV/c)2. The extrapolated differential cross-section at u = 0 is 1.3 ± 0.8 μb/(GeV/c)2.  相似文献

Differential cross sections of single particles and multiparticle systems produced in K?p interactions at 110 GeV/c are presented. At large values of transverse momentum (p) we find the multiparticle cross section to be an order of magnitude larger than that for single particles. This and other features of our data are consistent with results obtained at 200 GeV/c, that have been interpreted as evidence of a new dynamical mechanism in hadron-hadron interactions. However, similar features are observed in a K?p experiment at 16 GeV/c.  相似文献

A low-mass S-wave (ππ)0 enhancement is observed in the reaction pp → p (ππ)0 p at 12 and 24 GeV/c incident momentum. The mechanism for producing these low-mass pion pairs is investigated, and it is shown that double pomeron exchange can contribute at most 5% to their production cross section at 24 GeV/c.  相似文献

The missing mass spectrum in the region of the A?2 has been measured in the reaction π?p→X?p at 6.0 GeV/c in the interval 0.27 <|t|<0.42 (GeV/c)2, with an optical spark chamber system which simultaneously observed the decay X?ηπ?. A signal of 230 events above background per five MeV interval is observed at the A2 peak, with a signal-to-background ratio of greater than 1:1. A single D-wave Breit-Wigner distribution with a quadratic background gives a good fit to the data, yielding the parameters M0=(1.324±0.003) GeV/c2 and Γ0=(0.104±0.009) GeV/c2. The spectrum is incompatible with a dipole shape.  相似文献

Missing-mass spectra were obtained in the reaction πp → p X at 25 and 40 GeV/c at the Serpukhov Accelerator. At low masses a strong peak at 1.3 and a smaller one near 1.7 GeV are observed. In the mass region above 2 GeV no structure exceeding 3μb/(geV/c2 is seen.  相似文献

Data on polarization in backward elastic π+p scattering at 2.0, 3.5 and 4.0 GeV/c are presented. The data at 2.0 GeV/c are compared with the result of a recent phase-shift analysis. Our data at 3.5 and 4.0 GeV/c, and existing data above 3 GeV/c, show no significant energy dependence of the polarization over the measured u-range. Preliminary measurements have been made at centre of mass energies √s = 31 and 44 GeV of the π, K and p production ratios at 90° for pT between 2.0 and 3.5 GeV/c. The (K+p)/π ratio is given down to pT = 1.4 GeV/c. No strong energy dependence is observed for these transverse momenta.  相似文献

The t-dependence of the differential cross-section for elastic neutron-proton charge exchange scattering has been measured at 8, 19.2 and 24 GeV/c. The extremely narrow peak in the forward direction, previously observed for momenta up to 8 GeV/c, presists at the higher momenta, and the t-dependence shows practically no change with energy. In an exposure of the chamber Mirabelle at the Serpukhov accelerator, 1 943 interactions at 50 GeV/c and 8 959 at 69 GeV/c have been observed. Direct photons have been studied in pp̄ interactions at √s = 24.3 GeV and in the transverse momentum (pT) range 3–7 GeV/c(0.25 < xT < 0.58). The production of neutral kaons in the reaction K+p → Kn + X is studied at the incident momentum of 32 GeV/c. Inclusive cross sections and single-particle distributions are presented and compared with the data at lower energies. The total inclusive cross section amounts to 7.9 ± 0.3 mb at 32 GeV/c and is significantly higher than at lower energies due to the rapid rise of multikaon production. The fraction of Kn's coming from the decay of the K1 resonances stays roughly constant with energy between 8.2 and 32 GeV/c. In the central and beam fragmentation regions the single-particle distributions reveal no energy dependence between the 16 and 32 GeV/c data in contrast with the behaviour at lower energies, while in the proton fragmentation region the data are compatible with the trend observed at lower energies and with theoretical expectations.  相似文献
