A new approach for the synthesis of uniform metal-organic framework (MOF) nanocrystals with controlled sizes and aspect ratios has been developed using simultaneously the non-ionic triblock co-polymer F127 and acetic acid as stabilizing and deprotonating agents, respectively. The alkylene oxide segments of the triblock co-polymer can coordinate with metal ions and stabilize MOF nuclei in the early stage of the formation of MOF nanocrystals. Acetic acid can control the deprotonation of carboxylic linkers during the synthesis and, thus, enables the control of the rate of nucleation, leading to the tailoring of the size and aspect ratio (length/width) of nanocrystals. Fe-MIL-88B-NH(2), as an iron-based MOF crystal, was selected as a typical example to illustrate our approach. The results reveal that this approach is used for not only the synthesis of uniform nanocrystals but also the control of the size and aspect ratio of the materials. The size and aspect ratio of nanocrystals increase with an increase in the concentration of acetic acid in the synthetic mixture. The non-ionic triblock co-polymer F127 and acetic acid can be easily removed from the Fe-MIL-88B-NH(2) nanocrystal products by washing with ethanol, and thus, their amine groups are available for practical applications. The approach is expected to synthesize various nanosized carboxylate-based MOF members, such as MIL-53, MIL-89, MIL-100, and MIL-101.  相似文献

To establish a strategy for designing porous coordination polymers (PCPs) for ammonia capture, the first systematic study on the stability of PCPs against ammonia was conducted. Various types of PCPs were investigated by comparing their powder XRD patterns before and after treatment with ammonia. Among the PCPs tested, ZIF‐8, MIL‐53(Al), Al‐BTB, MOF‐76(M) (M=Y or Yb), MIL‐101(Cr), and MOF‐74(Mg) were stable up to 350 °C under an ammonia atmosphere at ambient pressure. The origin of the stability of PCPs is discussed from the viewpoint of their components, metal cations, and organic linkers. Furthermore, adsorption isotherm measurements show that the adsorptive behavior of PCPs is independent of their stability.  相似文献

We present investigation of the effect of electron-donor guests on framework mobility in the metal–organic framework (MOF) MIL-101(Cr) monitored by solid state 2H NMR spectroscopy. In a guest-free material, the mobile phenylene fragments of the terephthalate (TP) linkers populate two fractions with notably different kinetic parameters for torsional motion. Two fractions of rotational motion are indicative of non-equivalence of TP linker binding to the Cr3O trimer, the primary building unit of the MIL-101 framework. It is established that the interaction of the guest molecules with coordinatively unsaturated metal sites (CUS) of the MOF dramatically decreases torsional barriers for the linker motions, enhancing the rotation rate. This result is opposite to a more conventional slowing down effect on the linker rotation of the guests not selectively interacting with the adsorption sites inside the framework of the MOFs. The effect of coordination on both the torsional barrier and the rotation rate depends notably on the particular guest interacting with the CUS. The found effects of the guest on the rotational motion represent a basis for developing the strategy for ruling and controlling the linker rotation in MOFs with CUS. It is shown that if water occupies CUS, another guest (tert-butanol, cyclohexanone) fails to competitively coordinate to the site.  相似文献

The breathing effects of functionalized MIL-53-X (X=H, CH3, NH2, OH, and NO2) induced by the inclusions of water, methanol, acetone, and N,N-dimethylformamide solvents were comprehensively investigated by solid-state NMR spectroscopy. 2D homo-nuclear correlation NMR provided direct experimental evidence for the host-guest interaction between the guest solvents and the MOF frameworks. The variations of the 1H and 13C NMR chemical shifts in functionalized MIL-53 from the narrow pore phase transitions to large pore forms due to solvent inclusions were clearly identified. The influence of functionalized linkers and their host-guest interactions with the confined solvents on the rotational dynamics of the linkers was examined by separated-local-field MAS NMR experiments in conjunction with DFT theoretical calculations. It is found that the linker rotational dynamics of functionalized MIL-53 in narrow pore form is closely related to the computational rotational energy barrier. The BDC-NO2 linker of activated MIL-53-NO2 undergoes relatively faster rotation, whereas the BDC-NH2 and BDC-OH linkers of activated MIL-53-NH2 and MIL-53-OH exhibit relatively slower rotation. The host-guest interactions between confined solvents and MIL-53-NO2, MIL-53-CH3 would significantly induce an increase of the order parameters of unsubstituted carbon and reduce the rotational frequency of linkers. This study provides a spectroscopic approach for the investigation of linker rotation in functionalized MOFs at natural abundance with solvents inclusions.  相似文献

We report an in situ polymerization strategy to incorporate a thermo-responsive polymer, poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAM), with controlled loadings into the cavity of a mesoporous metal–organic framework (MOF), MIL-101(Cr). The resulting MOF/polymer composites exhibit an unprecedented temperature-triggered water capture and release behavior originating from the thermo-responsive phase transition of the PNIPAM component. This result sheds light on the development of stimuli-responsive porous adsorbent materials for water capture and heat transfer applications under relatively mild operating conditions.  相似文献

Highly compact metal–organic framework (MOF) membranes offer hope for the ambition to cope with challenging separation scenarios with industrial implications. A continuous layer of layered double hydroxide (LDH) nanoflakes on an alumina support as a template triggered a chemical self-conversion to a MIL-53 membrane, with approximately 8 hexagonal lattices (LDH) traded for 1 orthorhombic lattice (MIL-53). With the sacrifice of the template, the availability of Al nutrients from the alumina support was dynamically regulated, which resulted in synergy for producing membranes with highly compact architecture. The membrane can realize nearly complete dewatering from formic acid and acetic acid solutions, respectively, and maintain stability in a continuous pervaporation over 200 h. This is the first success in directly applying a pure MOF membrane to such a corrosive chemical environment (lowest pH value of 0.81). The energy consumption is saved by up to 77 % when compared with the traditional distillation.  相似文献

An Ru-doping strategy is reported to substantially improve both hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) and oxygen evolution reaction (OER) electrocatalytic activity of Ni/Fe-based metal–organic framework (MOF) for overall water splitting. As-synthesized Ru-doped Ni/Fe MIL-53 MOF nanosheets grown on nickel foam (MIL-53(Ru-NiFe)@NF) afford HER and OER current density of 50 mA cm−2 at an overpotential of 62 and 210 mV, respectively, in alkaline solution with a nominal Ru loading of ≈110 μg cm−2. When using as both anodic and cathodic (pre-)catalyst, MIL-53(Ru-NiFe)@NF enables overall water splitting at a current density of 50 mA cm−2 for a cell voltage of 1.6 V without iR compensation, which is much superior to state-of-the-art RuO2-Pt/C-based electrolyzer. It is discovered that the Ru-doping considerably modulates the growth of MOF to form thin nanosheets, and enhances the intrinsic HER electrocatalytic activity by accelerating the sluggish Volmer step and improving the intermediate oxygen adsorption for increased OER catalytic activity.  相似文献

Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), which have become popular in recent years as excellent carriers of drugs and biomimetic materials, have provided new research ideas for fighting pathogenic bacterial infections. Although various antimicrobial metal ions can be added to MOFs with physical methods, such as impregnation, to inhibit bacterial multiplication, this is inefficient and has many problems, such as an uneven distribution of antimicrobial ions in the MOF and the need for the simultaneous addition of large doses of metal ions. Here, we report on the use of MIL-101(Fe)@Ag with efficient metal-ion release and strong antimicrobial efficiency for co-sterilization. Fe-based MIL-101(Fe) was synthesized, and then Ag+ was uniformly introduced into the MOF by the substitution of Ag+ for Fe3+. Scanning electron microscopy, powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD) Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and thermogravimetric analysis were used to investigate the synthesized MIL-101(Fe)@Ag. The characteristic peaks of MIL-101(Fe) and silver ions could be clearly seen in the PXRD pattern. Comparing the diffraction peaks of the simulated PXRD patterns clearly showed that MIL-101(Fe) was successfully constructed and silver ions were successfully loaded into MIL-101(Fe) to synthesize an MOF with a bimetallic structure, that is, the target product MIL-101(Fe)@Ag. The antibacterial mechanism of the MOF material was also investigated. MIL-101(Fe)@Ag exhibited low cytotoxicity, so it has potential applications in the biological field. Overall, MIL-101(Fe)@Ag is an easily fabricated structurally engineered nanocomposite with broad-spectrum bactericidal activity.  相似文献

A series of amino-functionalized MIL-53 with different metals as nodes has been synthesized. By determining adsorption properties and spectroscopic characterization, we unequivocally show that the interaction between the amines of the organic linker and bridging μ(2)-OH of the inorganic scaffold modulates metal organic framework (MOF) flexibility. The strength of the interaction has been found to correlate with the electropositivity of the metal.  相似文献

Energy-efficient indoors temperature and humidity control can be realised by using the reversible adsorption and desorption of water in porous materials. Stable microporous aluminium-based metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) present promising water sorption properties for this goal. The development of synthesis routes that make use of available and affordable building blocks and avoid the use of organic solvents is crucial to advance this field. In this work, two scalable synthesis routes under mild reaction conditions were developed for aluminium-based MOFs: (1) in aqueous solutions using a continuous-flow reactor and (2) through the vapour-assisted conversion of solid precursors. Fumaric acid, its methylated analogue mesaconic acid, as well as mixtures of the two were used as linkers to obtain polymorph materials with tuneable water sorption properties. The synthesis conditions determine the crystal structure and either the MIL-53 or MIL-68 type structure with square-grid or kagome-grid topology, respectively, is formed. Fine-tuning resulted in new MOF materials thus far inaccessible through conventional synthesis routes. Furthermore, by varying the linker ratio, the water sorption properties can be continuously adjusted while retaining the sigmoidal isotherm shape advantageous for heat transformation and room climatisation applications.  相似文献

A novel Pd−NHC functionalized metal–organic framework (MOF) based on MIL-101(Cr) was synthesized and used as an efficient heterogeneous catalyst in the C-C bond formation reactions. Using this heterogeneous Pd catalyst system, the Suzuki−Miyaura coupling reaction was accomplished well in water, and coupling products were obtained in good to excellent yields in short reaction time. The Pd−NHC−MIL-101(Cr) was characterized using some different techniques, including Fourier transform-infrared, X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, inductively coupled plasma and elemental analysis. The microscopic techniques showed the discrete octahedron structure of MIL-101(Cr), which is also stable after chemical modification process to prepare the catalyst system. The TEM images of the catalyst showed the existence of palladium nanoparticles immobilized in the structure of the catalyst, while no reducing agent was used. It seems that the NHC groups and imidazolium moieties in the structure of the MOF can reduce Pd (II) to Pd (0) species. This modified MOF substrate can also prevent aggregation of Pd nanoparticles, resulting in high stability of them in organic transformation. The Pd−NHC−MIL-101(Cr) catalyst system could be simply extracted from the reaction mixture, providing an efficient synthetic method for the synthesis of biaryls derivatives using the aforementioned coupling reaction. The Pd−NHC−MIL-101(Cr) catalyst could be recycled in this organic reaction with almost consistent catalytic efficiency.  相似文献

Metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) have received increasing interest as solid single-site catalysts, owing to their tunable pore architecture and metal node geometry. The ability to exploit these modulators makes them prominent candidates for producing polyethylene (PE) materials with narrow dispersity index (Ð) values. Here a study is presented in which the ethylene polymerization properties, with Et2AlCl as activator, of three renowned Cr-based MOFs, MIL-101(Cr)-NDC (NDC=2,6-dicarboxynapthalene), MIL-53(Cr) and HKUST-1(Cr), are systematically investigated. Ethylene polymerization reactions revealed varying catalytic activities, with MIL-101(Cr)-NDC and MIL-53(Cr) being significantly more active than HKUST-1(Cr). Analysis of the PE products revealed large Ð values, demonstrating that polymerization occurs over a multitude of active Cr centers rather than a singular type of Cr site. Spectroscopic experiments, in the form of powder X-ray diffraction (pXRD), UV/Vis-NIR diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS) and CO probe molecule Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy corroborated these findings, indicating that indeed for each MOF unique active sites are generated, however without alteration of the original oxidation state. Furthermore, the pXRD experiments indicated that one major prerequisite for catalytic activity was the degree of MOF activation by the Et2AlCl co-catalyst, with the more active materials portraying a larger degree of activation.

Solid-phase microextraction (SPME) is a powerful technique commonly used in sample preparation for extraction/preconcentration of analytes from a wide variety of samples. Among the trends in improving SPME applications, current investigations are focused on the development of novel coatings able to improve the extraction efficiency, sensitivity, and thermal and mechanical stability, within other properties, of current commercial SPME fibers. Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) merit to be highlighted as promising sorbent materials in SPME schemes. MOFs are porous hybrid materials composed by metal ions and organic linkers, presenting the highest surface areas known, with ease synthesis and high tuneability, together with adequate chemical and thermal stability. For MOF based-SPME fibers, it results important to pretreat adequately the SPME supports to ensure the correct formation of the MOF onto the fiber or the attachment MOF-support. This, in turn, will increase the final stability of the fiber while generating uniform coatings. This review provides a critical overview of the current state of the use of MOFs as SPME coatings, not only highlighting the advantages of these materials versus commercial SPME coatings in terms of stability, selectivity, and sensitivity; but also insightfully describing the current methods to obtain reproducible MOF-based SPME coatings.  相似文献

In this study, metal organic framework (MOF)–organic polymer monoliths prepared via a 5-min microwave-assisted polymerization of ethylene dimethacrylate (EDMA), butyl methacrylate (BMA), and 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropane sulfonic acid (AMPS) with the addition of various weight percentages (30–60%) of porous MOF (MIL-101(Cr)) were developed as stationary phases for capillary electrochromatography (CEC) and nano-liquid chromatography (nano-LC). Powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD) patterns and nitrogen adsorption/desorption isotherms of these MOF–organic polymer monoliths showed the presence of the inherent characteristic peaks and the nano-sized pores of MIL-101(Cr), which confirmed an unaltered crystalline MIL-101(Cr) skeleton after synthesis; while energy dispersive spectrometer (EDS) and micro-FT-IR spectra suggested homogenous distribution of MIL-101(Cr) in the MIL-101(Cr)–poly(BMA–EDMA) monoliths. This hybrid MOF–polymer column demonstrated high permeability, with almost 800-fold increase compared to MOF packed column, and efficient separation of various analytes (xylene, chlorotoluene, cymene, aromatic acids, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and trypsin digested BSA peptides) either in CEC or nano-LC. This work demonstrated high potentials for MOF–organic polymer monolith as stationary phase in miniaturized chromatography for the first time.  相似文献

We transformed the hydrophilic metal–organic framework (MOF) UiO‐67 into hydrophobic UiO‐67‐R s (R=alkyl) by introducing alkyl chains into organic linkers, which not only protected hydrophilic Zr6O8 clusters to make the MOF interspace superoleophilic, but also led to a rough crystal surface beneficial for superhydrophobicity. The UiO‐67‐R s displayed high acid, base, and water stability, and long alkyl chains offered better hydrophobicity. Good hydrophobicity/oleophilicity were also possible with mixed‐ligand MOFs containing metal‐binding ligands. Thus, a (super)hydrophobic MOF catalyst loaded with Pd centers efficiently catalyzed Sonogashira reactions in water at ambient temperature. Studies of the hydrophobic effects of the coordination interspace and the outer surface suggest a simple de novo strategy for the synthesis of superhydrophobic MOFs that combine surface roughness and low surface energy. Such MOFs have potential for environmentally friendly catalysis and water purification.  相似文献

A selection of metallocene inclusion compounds with channel structured MOFs (MOF = Metal-Organic Framework) were obtained via solvent-fee adsorption of the metallocenes from the gas-phase. The adsorbate structures ferrocene(0.5)@MIL-53(Al) (MIL-53(Al) = [Al(OH)(bdc)](n) with bdc = 1,4-terephthalate), ferrocene(0.25)@MIL-47(V) (MIL-47(V) = [V(O)(bdc)](n)), cobaltocene(0.25)@MIL-53(Al), cobaltocene(0.5)@MIL-47(V), 1-formylferrocene(0.33)@MIL-53(Al), 1,1'dimethylferrocene(0.33)@MIL-53(Al), 1,1'-diformylferrocene(0.5)@MIL-53(Al) were determined from powder X-ray diffraction data and were analyzed concerning the packing and orientation of the guest species. The packing of the ferrocene guest molecules inside MIL-47(V) is significantly different compared to MIL-53(Al) due to the lower breathing effect and weaker hydrogen bonds between the guest molecules and the host network in the case of MIL-47(V). The orientation of the metallocene molecule is also influenced by the substituents (CH(3) and CHO) at the cyclopentadienyl ring and the interaction with the bridging OH group of MIL-53(Al). The inclusion of redox active cobaltocene into MIL-47(V) leads to the formation of a charge transfer compound with a negatively charged framework. The reduction of the vanadium centers is stoichiometric. The resulting material is a mixed valence compound with a V(3+)/V(4+) ratio of 1:1. The new compounds were characterized via thermal gravimetric analysis, infrared spectroscopy, solid state NMR, and differential pulse voltammetry. Both systems are 1D-channel pore structures. The metallocene adsorbate induced breathing effect of MIL-53(Al) is more pronounced compared to MIL-47(V), this can be explained by the different bridging groups between the MO(6) clusters.  相似文献

The interactions between uranium and non-innocent organic species are an essential component of fundamental uranium redox chemistry. However, they have seldom been explored in the context of multidimensional, porous materials. Uranium-based metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) offer a new angle to study these interactions, as these self-assembled species stabilize uranium species through immobilization by organic linkers within a crystalline framework, while potentially providing a method for adjusting metal oxidation state through coordination of non-innocent linkers. We report the synthesis of the MOF NU-1700 , assembled from U4+-paddlewheel nodes and catecholate-based linkers. We propose this highly unusual structure, which contains two U4+ ions in a paddlewheel built from four linkers—a first among uranium materials—as a result of extensive characterization via powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), sorption, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), in addition to density functional theory (DFT) calculations.  相似文献

A promising alternative strategy for designing mesoporous metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) has been proposed, by modifying the symmetry rather than expanding the length of organic linkers. By means of this approach, a unique MOF material based on the target [Zn8(ad)4] (ad=adeninate) clusters and C3‐symmetric organic linkers can be obtained, with trigonal microporous (ca., 0.8 nm) and hexagonal mesoporous (ca., 3.0 nm) 1D channels. Moreover, the resulting 446‐MOF shows distinct reactivity to transition and lanthanide metal ions. Significantly, the transmetalation of CoII or NiII on the ZnII centers in 446‐MOF can enhance the sorption capacities of CO2 and CH4 (16–21 %), whereas the impregnation of EuIII and TbIII in the channels of 446‐MOF will result in adjustable light‐emitting behaviors.  相似文献

A strategy for in situ fabrication of nanoscale‐thin layers of anatase TiO2 coated on the metal–organic framework (MOF) material, MIL‐53(Al), is developed. The preparation conditions for crystallized TiO2 are normally incompatible with the thermal and chemical stability of MOFs. Based on our strategy, we found that the redundant organic ligands (1,4‐benzenedicarboxylic acid, H2BDC) within the pores of the as‐synthesized MOF play a key function in the protection and support of the framework during hydrothermal loading of the TiO2 precursor, as well as in preventing the infiltration of the precursor into the pores. After annealing, a nanoscale‐thin layer of highly crystalline anatase TiO2, with a thickness of 6–10 nm, was successfully attached to the external surface of the MIL‐53(Al) crystals, while the porous framework remains intact. The core–shell structure of the MOF@TiO2 nanocomposite endows the resulting materials with additional optical response and enhanced moisture and chemical stability.  相似文献
