Many supply chains contain both forward and reverse logistics flows where forwarders are often asked to manage forward and reverse logistics activities in a cost-efficient manner. Reverse logistics jobs are different from forward logistics jobs, apart from the physical movement directions, and they have different logistics service requirements that usually require special facility setups. The choice of reverse logistics centres is also an important cost saving factor in a supply chain network. We consider cost saving activities through combining transportation activities and logistics activities in forward and reverse logistics jobs. A mixed 0–1 LP model is proposed to solve the shipment planning problem and the choice of reverse logistics centre. Managerial issues in implementation are discussed in an illustrative case.  相似文献

This paper presents a novel hierarchical network planning model for global logistics (GLs) network configurations. The proposed method, which is based on the fundamentals of integer programming and hierarchical cluster analysis methods, determines the corresponding locations, number and scope of service areas and facilities in the proposed GLs network. Therein, a multi-objective planning model is formulated that systematically minimizes network configuration cost and maximizes both operational profit and the customer satisfaction rate. Particularly, potential risk-oriented costs, such as macro-environmental-risk and micro-operational-risk costs are considered in the proposed model. Numerical results indicate that the overall system performance can be improved by up to 11.52% using the proposed approach.  相似文献

We propose generalizations of a broad class of traditional supply chain planning and logistics models that we call supply chain planning and logistics problems with market choice. Instead of the traditional setting, we are given a set of markets, each specified by a sequence of demands and associated with a revenue. Decisions are made in two stages. In the first stage, one chooses a subset of markets and rejects the others. Once that market choice is made, one needs to construct a minimum-cost production plan (set of facilities) to satisfy all of the demands of all the selected markets. The goal is to minimize the overall lost revenues of rejected markets and the production (facility opening and connection) costs. These models capture important aspects of demand shaping within supply chain planning and logistics models. We introduce a general algorithmic framework that leverages existing approximation results for the traditional models to obtain corresponding results for their counterpart models with market choice. More specifically, any LP-based α-approximation for the traditional model can be leveraged to a frac11-e-1/a{frac{1}{1-e^{-1/alpha}}} -approximation algorithm for the counterpart model with market choice. Our techniques are also potentially applicable to other covering problems.  相似文献

In this paper, we address the route planning problem in fourth party logistics (4PL). The problem calls for the selection of the logistics companies by a 4PL provider to optimize the routes of delivering goods through a transportation network. The concept of 4PL emerged in response to the shortfall in services capabilities of traditional third party logistics and has been proven to be capable of integrating logistics resources in order to fulfill complex transportation demands. A mixed-integer programming model is established for the planning problem with setup cost and edge cost discount policies which are commonly seen in practice. We propose a column generation approach combined with graph search heuristic to efficiently solve the problem. The good performance in terms of the solution quality and computational efficiency of our approach is shown through extensive numerical experiments on various scales of test instances. Impacts of cost policies on routing decision are also investigated and managerial insights are drawn.  相似文献

Emergency logistics is an essential component of post-disaster relief campaigns. However, there are always various uncertainties when making decisions related to planning and implementing post-disaster relief logistics. Considering the particular environmental conditions during post-disaster relief after a catastrophic earthquake in a mountainous area, this paper proposes a stochastic model for post-disaster relief logistics to guide the tactical design for mobilizing relief supply levels, planning initial helicopter deployments, and creating transportation plans within the disaster region, given the uncertainties in demand and transportation time. We then introduce a robust optimization approach to cope with these uncertainties and deduce the robust counterpart of the proposed stochastic model. A numerical example based on disaster logistics during the Great Sichuan Earthquake demonstrates that the model can help post-disaster managers to determine the initial deployments of emergency resources. Sensitivity analyses explore the trade-off between optimization and robustness by varying the robust optimization parameter values.  相似文献

We describe the development and successful implementation of a decision support system now being used by several leading firms in the architecture and space planning industries. The system, which we call SPDS (spatialprogrammingdesignsystem) has the following characteristics: (i) user-friendly convenience features permitting architects and space planners to operate the system without being experienced programmers; (ii) interactive capabilities allowing the user to control and to manipulate relevant parameters, orchestrating conditions to which his or her intuition provides valuable input; (iii) informative and understandable graphics, providing visual displays of interconnections that the computer itself treats in a more abstract methematical form; (iv) convenient ways to change configurations, and to carry out what if analyses calling on the system's decision support capabilities; (v) a collection of new methods, invisible to the user, capable of generating good solutions to the mathematical programming problems that underlie each major design component. These new methods succeed in generating high quality solutions to a collection of complex discrete, highly nonlinear problems. While these problems could only be solved in hours, or not at all, with previously existing software, the new methods obtain answers in seconds to minutes on a minicomputer. Major users, including Dalton, Dalton, Newport, and Marshal Erdwin, report numerous advantages of the system over traditional architectural design methods.  相似文献

Nowadays, due to some social, legal, and economical reasons, dealing with reverse supply chain is an unavoidable issue in many industries. Besides, regarding real-world volatile parameters, lead us to use stochastic optimization techniques. In location–allocation type of problems (such as the presented design and planning one), two-stage stochastic optimization techniques are the most appropriate and popular approaches. Nevertheless, traditional two-stage stochastic programming is risk neutral, which considers the expectation of random variables in its objective function. In this paper, a risk-averse two-stage stochastic programming approach is considered in order to design and planning a reverse supply chain network. We specify the conditional value at risk (CVaR) as a risk evaluator, which is a linear, convex, and mathematically well-behaved type of risk measure. We first consider return amounts and prices of second products as two stochastic parameters. Then, the optimum point is achieved in a two-stage stochastic structure regarding a mean-risk (mean-CVaR) objective function. Appropriate numerical examples are designed, and solved in order to compare the classical versus the proposed approach. We comprehensively discuss about the effectiveness of incorporating a risk measure in a two-stage stochastic model. The results prove the capabilities and acceptability of the developed risk-averse approach and the affects of risk parameters in the model behavior.  相似文献

We study a supply planning problem in a manufacturing system with two stages. The first stage is a remanufacturer that supplies two closely-related components to the second (manufacturing) stage, which uses each component as the basis for its respective product. The used products are recovered from the market by a third-party logistic provider through an established reverse logistics network. The remanufacturer may satisfy the manufacturer’s demand either by purchasing new components or by remanufacturing components recovered from the returned used products. The remanufacturer’s costs arise from product recovery, remanufacturing components, purchasing original components, holding inventories of recovered products and remanufactured components, production setups (at the first stage and at each component changeover), disposal of recovered products that are not remanufactured, and coordinating the supply modes. The objective is to develop optimal production plans for different production strategies. These strategies are differentiated by whether inventories of recovered products or remanufactured components are carried, and by whether the order in which retailers are served during the planning horizon may be resequenced. We devise production policies that minimize the total cost at the remanufacturer by specifying the quantity of components to be remanufactured, the quantity of new components to be purchased from suppliers, and the quantity of recovered used products that must be disposed. The effects of production capacity are also explored. A comprehensive computational study provides insights into this closed-loop supply chain for those strategies that are shown to be NP-hard.  相似文献

Nowadays, enterprises typically outsource their logistics needs to logisticsagents, who have become vital partners in managing supply chains. The logisticsneeds in a supply chain consist of many different interrelated services, eachwith its own set of requirements and constraints. A logistics agent mightspecialize in the provision of a single logistics service or might provide arange of services. The selection of logistics agent(s) cannot be separated intoa series of stand-alone selections as the decisions are interrelated. Decisionmakers must assess the merits of individual activity-agent combinations, as wellas their interrelationships along the entire supply chain. Such an evaluation isnon-trivial, because both tangible and intangible elements are involved. In thisresearch, we model the selection problem using analytic network process, amultiattribute decision-making methodology suitable for assessing interdependentelements, both tangible and intangible. Large automotive supply chains typically involve manufacturers pulling materials from their suppliers along the chain, usually by using round-trip truckload routes. The return trips on these routes are used to return empty containers back to the suppliers. The mismatch between the amount of materials and empty containers results in underutilization of the return trips. A supplier can utilize this unused capacity by identifying a subset of promising customer routes that can be combined with its existing supplier routes to save overall costs of the system. Such an integration also leads to other supply chain coordination benefits such as the potential of using crossdocks, more frequent milkruns and ensuing reductions in inventories.  相似文献

This paper describes an integrated planning model for the U.S. air traffic system. The approach incorporates the dual objectives of monitoring collision risk while minimizing transportation costs. Specialized solution algorithms exploit the underlying structure of the model—especially for large-scale examples. The proposed formulation is tested with real-world data for the Indianapolis control sector. Additional experiments with a CRAY X-MP/24 supercomputer show that a full-scale model can be solved under real time conditions. Despite these advances, additional work is required in developing a practical system. Suggestion are made for combining advances in computer graphics and mathematical modeling.  相似文献

In the paper, we address the partial regularity of solutions of the Navier-Stokes system. Earlier, we have proved that the one-dimensional parabolic Hausdorff measure of the singular set is zero under the assumption that the force f belongs locally to L5/3. Here we prove the same statement under a more general assumption that the Morrey norm in of the force is sufficiently small. We do so by establishing a fractional integration theorem using the Morrey spaces and by a suitable iteration using a localized version of the Morrey norm.  相似文献

City logistics initiatives are steps taken by municipal administrations to ameliorate the condition of goods transport in cities and reduce their negative impacts on city residents and their environment. Examples of city logistics initiatives are urban distribution centers, congestion pricing, delivery timing and access restrictions. In this paper, we present a hybrid approach based on Affinity Diagram, AHP and fuzzy TOPSIS for evaluating city logistics initiatives. Four initiatives namely vehicle sizing restrictions, congestion charging schemes, urban distribution center and access timing restrictions are considered.The proposed approach consists of four steps. The first step involves identification of criteria for assessing performance of city logistics initiatives using Affinity Diagram. The results are four categories of criteria namely technical, social, economical and environmental. In step 2, a decision making committee comprising of representatives of city logistics stakeholders is formed. These stakeholders are shippers, receivers, transport operators, end consumers and public administrators. The committee members weight the selected criteria using AHP. In step 3, the decision makers provide linguistic ratings to the alternatives (city logistics initiatives) to assess their performance against the selected criteria. These linguistic ratings are then aggregated using fuzzy TOPSIS to generate an overall performance score for each alternative. The alternative with the highest score is finally chosen as most suitable city logistics initiative for improving city sustainability. In the fourth step, we perform sensitivity analysis to evaluate the influence of criteria weights on the selection of the best alternative.The proposed approach is novel and can be practically applied for selecting sustainable city logistics initiatives for cities. Another advantage is its ability to generate solutions under limited quantitative information. An empirical application of the proposed approach is provided.  相似文献

This study considers network design, capacity planning and vehicle routing for collection systems in reverse logistics. The network design and capacity planning problems are to determine the static locations and capacities of collection points as well as the dynamic allocations of demand points to the opened collection points over a planning horizon, and the vehicle routing problem is to determine the number and routes of vehicles in such a way that each collection point must be visited exactly once by one vehicle starting and terminating at the depot while satisfying the return demands at collection points and the vehicle capacity. The objective is to minimize the sum of fixed costs to open collection points and to acquire vehicles as well as variable costs to transport returns at demand points to the opened collection points and travel the opened collection points by vehicles. Unlike the location-routing problems, the integrated problem considered in this study has several features: multi-period dynamic model, capacity planning for collection points, maximum allowable collection distances, etc. To solve the integrated problem, two types of tabu search algorithms, hierarchical and integrated ones, are suggested, and their test results are reported. In particular, the efficiency of the integrated approach is shown by comparing the two algorithm types.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider the Cauchy problem of the Boltzmann equation with potential force in the whole space. When some more natural assumptions compared with those of the previous works are made on the potential force, we can still obtain a unique global solution to the Boltzmann equation even for the hard potential cases by energy method, if the initial data are sufficiently close to the steady state. This paper introduced a stochastic programming model to address the air freight hub location and flight routes planning under seasonal demand variations. Most existing approaches to airline network design problems are restricted to a deterministic environment. However, the demand in the air freight market usually varies seasonally. The model is separated into two decision stages. The first stage, which is the decision not affected by randomness, determines the number and the location of hubs. The second stage, which is the decision affected by randomness, determines the flight routes to transport flows from origins to destinations based upon the hub location and realized uncertain scenario. Finally, the real data based on the air freight market in Taiwan and China is used to test the proposed model.  相似文献

Production scheduling and maintenance planning have interdependencies but been often considered and optimized independently in practice and in the literature. Furthermore, product quality has direct relationship with maintenance planning. This paper proposes an integrated approach for production scheduling and maintenance planning for parallel machine system considering the effect of cost of rejection. The approach aims to determine optimal production schedule and maintenance plan such that overall operations cost is minimized. A simulation-based optimization approach is used to solve the problem. A numerical investigation is performed to illustrate the approach. The integrated approach shows between 0.6 and 35.8% improvement in term of overall operations cost over independent approach for various scenarios. The results indicate that simultaneous consideration of production scheduling and maintenance planning results into better system performance.  相似文献

Future operations by the U.S. military services will require greater collaboration within the government and with the private sector. Commercial enterprises that normally compete with one another will have to cooperate to satisfy the goals of the operation. For example, the military uses commercial airlift assets to support the movement of soldiers and cargo to the theater. Ideally, the military would like to receive adequate commercial airlift capacity at a reasonable cost, while the commercial air carriers would like to balance their workload and minimize the disruption to their daily operations. We present a distributed optimization approach that uses software agents—representing the interests of the military and commercial carriers—to collaboratively plan the airlift. By auctioning the missions and allowing carriers to swap missions when mutually beneficial, this approach cuts the controllable operating costs and schedule disruption costs by more than half compared with a centralized planning approach currently used.  相似文献
