For X, YMn,m it is said that X is gut-majorized by Y, and we write X ?gutY, if there exists an n-by-n upper triangular g-row stochastic matrix R such that X = RY. Define the relation ~gut as follows. X ~gutY if X is gut-majorized by Y and Y is gut-majorized by X. The (strong) linear preservers of ?gut on ?n and strong linear preservers of this relation on Mn,m have been characterized before. This paper characterizes all (strong) linear preservers and strong linear preservers of ~gut on ?n and Mn,m.  相似文献

A matrix AM n (C) is said to be irreducible if the only orthoprojectors that commute with A are the zero and unit matrices. A finite rational criterion for irreducibility is proposed. The criteria for verification of this property that can be found in the literature are neither finite nor rational.  相似文献

Let R be a ring. A subclass T of left R-modules is called a weak torsion class if it is closed under homomorphic images and extensions. Let T be a weak torsion class of left R-modules and n a positive integer. Then a left R-module M is called T-finitely generated if there exists a finitely generated submodule N such that M/NT; a left R-module A is called (T,n)-presented if there exists an exact sequence of left R-modules
$$0 \to {K_{n - 1}} \to {F_{n - 1}} \to \cdots \to {F_1} \to {F_0} \to M \to 0$$
such that F0,..., Fn?1 are finitely generated free and Kn?1 is T-finitely generated; a left R-module M is called (T,n)-injective, if Ext n R (A,M) = 0 for each (T, n+1)-presented left R-module A; a right R-module M is called (T,n)-flat, if Tor R n (M,A) = 0 for each (T, n+1)-presented left R-module A. A ring R is called (T,n)-coherent, if every (T, n+1)-presented module is (n + 1)-presented. Some characterizations and properties of these modules and rings are given.

Let ?+ be the semiring of all nonnegative integers and A an m × n matrix over ?+. The rank of A is the smallest k such that A can be factored as an m × k matrix times a k×n matrix. The isolation number of A is the maximum number of nonzero entries in A such that no two are in any row or any column, and no two are in a 2 × 2 submatrix of all nonzero entries. We have that the isolation number of A is a lower bound of the rank of A. For A with isolation number k, we investigate the possible values of the rank of A and the Boolean rank of the support of A. So we obtain that the isolation number and the Boolean rank of the support of a given matrix are the same if and only if the isolation number is 1 or 2 only. We also determine a special type of m×n matrices whose isolation number is m. That is, those matrices are permutationally equivalent to a matrix A whose support contains a submatrix of a sum of the identity matrix and a tournament matrix.  相似文献

Let M be an m-dimensional manifold and A = D k r /I = R⊕N A a Weil algebra of height r. We prove that any A-covelocity T x A fT x A *M, xM is determined by its values over arbitrary max{width A,m} regular and under the first jet projection linearly independent elements of T x A M. Further, we prove the rigidity of the so-called universally reparametrizable Weil algebras. Applying essentially those partial results we give the proof of the general rigidity result T A *M ? T r *M without coordinate computations, which improves and generalizes the partial result obtained in Tomá? (2009) from mk to all cases of m.We also introduce the space J A (M,N) of A-jets and prove its rigidity in the sense of its coincidence with the classical jet space J r (M,N).  相似文献

Let τ be a faithful normal semifinite trace on a von Neumann algebra M, let p, 0 < p < ∞, be a number, and let Lp(M, τ) be the space of operators whose pth power is integrable (with respect to τ). Let P and Q be τ-measurable idempotents, and let AP ? Q. In this case, 1) if A ≥ 0, then A is a projection and QA = AQ = 0; 2) if P is quasinormal, then P is a projection; 3) if QM and ALp(M, τ), then A2Lp(M, τ). Let n be a positive integer, n > 2, and A = AnM. In this case, 1) if A ≠ 0, then the values of the nonincreasing rearrangement μt(A) belong to the set {0} ∪ [‖An?2?1, ‖A‖] for all t > 0; 2) either μt(A) ≥ 1 for all t > 0 or there is a t0 > 0 such that μt(A) = 0 for all t > t0. For every τ-measurable idempotent Q, there is aunique rank projection PM with QP = P, PQ = Q, and PM = QM. There is a unique decomposition Q = P + Z, where Z2 = 0, ZP = 0, and PZ = Z. Here, if QLp(M, τ), then P is integrable, and τ(Q) = τ(P) for p = 1. If AL1(M, τ) and if A = A3 and A ? A2M, then τ(A) ∈ R.  相似文献

Let ? be a trace on the unital C*-algebra A and M ? be the ideal of the definition of the trace ?. We obtain a C*analogue of the quantum Hall effect: if P,QA are idempotents and P ? QM ? , then ?((P ? Q)2n+1) = ?(P ? Q) ∈ R for all nN. Let the isometries UA and A = A*∈ A be such that I+A is invertible and U-AM ? with ?(U-A) ∈ R. Then I-A, I?UM ? and ?(I?U) ∈ R. Let nN, dimH = 2n + 1, the symmetry operators U, VB(H), and W = U ? V. Then the operator W is not a symmetry, and if V = V*, then the operator W is nonunitary.  相似文献

Let m,m′, n be positive integers such that mm′. Let A be an mth order n-dimensional tensor, and let ? be an m′th order n-dimensional tensor. λ ∈ ? is called a ?-eigenvalue of A if A xm?1 = λ?xm′?1 and ?xm′= 1 for some x ∈ ?n\{0}. In this paper, we propose a linear homotopy method for solving this eigenproblem. We prove that the method finds all isolated ?-eigenpairs. Moreover, it is easy to implement. Numerical results are provided to show the efficiency of the proposed method.  相似文献

A real matrix A is a G-matrix if A is nonsingular and there exist nonsingular diagonal matrices D1 and D2 such that A?T = D1AD2, where A?T denotes the transpose of the inverse of A. Denote by J = diag(±1) a diagonal (signature) matrix, each of whose diagonal entries is +1 or ?1. A nonsingular real matrix Q is called J-orthogonal if QTJQ = J. Many connections are established between these matrices. In particular, a matrix A is a G-matrix if and only if A is diagonally (with positive diagonals) equivalent to a column permutation of a J-orthogonal matrix. An investigation into the sign patterns of the J-orthogonal matrices is initiated. It is observed that the sign patterns of the G-matrices are exactly the column permutations of the sign patterns of the J-orthogonal matrices. Some interesting constructions of certain J-orthogonal matrices are exhibited. It is shown that every symmetric staircase sign pattern matrix allows a J-orthogonal matrix. Sign potentially J-orthogonal conditions are also considered. Some examples and open questions are provided.  相似文献

Order-sharp estimates are established for the best N-term approximations of functions from Nikol’skii–Besov type classes Bpqsm(Tk) with respect to the multiple trigonometric system T(k) in the metric of Lr(Tk) for a number of relations between the parameters s, p, q, r, and m (s = (s1,..., sn) ∈ R+n, 1 ≤ p, q, r ≤ ∞, m = (m1,..., mn) ∈ Nn, k = m1 +... + mn). Constructive methods of nonlinear trigonometric approximation—variants of the so-called greedy algorithms—are used in the proofs of upper estimates.  相似文献

We prove a stability version of a general result that bounds the permanent of a matrix in terms of its operator norm. More specifically, suppose A is an n × n matrix over C (resp. R), and let P denote the set of n × n matrices over C (resp. R) that can be written as a permutation matrix times a unitary diagonal matrix. Then it is known that the permanent of A satisfies |per(A)| ≤ ||A|| n 2 with equality iff A/||A||2P (where ||A||2 is the operator 2-norm of A). We show a stability version of this result asserting that unless A is very close (in a particular sense) to one of these extremal matrices, its permanent is exponentially smaller (as a function of n) than ||A|| n 2. In particular, for any fixed α, β > 0, we show that |per(A)| is exponentially smaller than ||A|| n 2 unless all but at most αn rows contain entries of modulus at least ||A||2(1?β).  相似文献

We show that for a linear space of operators M ? B(H1, H2) the following assertions are equivalent. (i) M is reflexive in the sense of Loginov-Shulman. (ii) There exists an order-preserving map Ψ = (ψ1, ψ2) on a bilattice Bil(M) of subspaces determined by M with P ≤ ψ1(P,Q) and Q ≤ ψ2(P,Q) for any pair (P,Q) ∈ Bil(M), and such that an operator TB(H1, H2) lies in M if and only if ψ2(P,Q)Tψ1(P,Q) = 0 for all (P,Q) ∈ Bil(M). This extends the Erdos-Power type characterization of weakly closed bimodules over a nest algebra to reflexive spaces.  相似文献

Let Σ be a simply connected rational homology sphere. A pair of disjoint closed submanifolds M_+, M_-? Σ are called dual to each other if the complement Σ-M_+ strongly homotopy retracts onto M_- or vice-versa. In this paper, we are concerned with the basic problem of which integral triples(n; m_+, m-) ∈ N~3 can appear, where n = dimΣ-1 and m_± = codim M_±-1. The problem is motivated by several fundamental aspects in differential geometry.(i) The theory of isoparametric/Dupin hypersurfaces in the unit sphere S~(n+1) initiated by′Elie Cartan, where M_± are the focal manifolds of the isoparametric/Dupin hypersurface M ? S~(n+1), and m± coincide with the multiplicities of principal curvatures of M.(ii) The Grove-Ziller construction of non-negatively curved Riemannian metrics on the Milnor exotic spheres Σ,i.e., total spaces of smooth S~3-bundles over S~4 homeomorphic but not diffeomorphic to S~7, where M_± =P_±×_(SO(4))S~3, P → S~4 the principal SO(4)-bundle of Σ and P_± the singular orbits of a cohomogeneity one SO(4) × SO(3)-action on P which are both of codimension 2.Based on the important result of Grove-Halperin, we provide a surprisingly simple answer, namely, if and only if one of the following holds true:· m_+ = m_-= n;· m_+ = m_-=1/3n ∈ {1, 2, 4, 8};· m_+ = m_-=1/4n ∈ {1, 2};· m_+ = m_-=1/6n ∈ {1, 2};·n/(m_++m_-)= 1 or 2, and for the latter case, m_+ + m_-is odd if min(m_+, m_-)≥2.In addition, if Σ is a homotopy sphere and the ratio n/(m_++m_-)= 2(for simplicity let us assume 2 m_- m_+),we observe that the work of Stolz on the multiplicities of isoparametric hypersurfaces applies almost identically to conclude that, the pair can be realized if and only if, either(m_+, m_-) =(5, 4) or m_+ + m_-+ 1 is divisible by the integer δ(m_-)(see the table on Page 1551), which is equivalent to the existence of(m_--1) linearly independent vector fields on the sphere S~(m_++m_-)by Adams' celebrated work. In contrast, infinitely many counterexamples are given if Σ is a rational homology sphere.  相似文献

Let A be an expanding integer n×n matrix and D be a finite subset of ? n . The self-affine set T=T(A,D) is the unique compact set satisfying the equality \(A(T)=\bigcup_{d\in D}(T+d)\). We present an effective algorithm to compute the Lebesgue measure of the self-affine set T, the measure of the intersection T∩(T+u) for u∈? n , and the measure of the intersection of self-affine sets T(A,D 1)∩T(A,D 2) for different sets D 1, D 2?? n .  相似文献

Let A be an mth order n-dimensional tensor, where m, n are some positive integers and N:= m(n?1). Then A is called a Hankel tensor associated with a vector v ∈ ?N+1 if Aσ = v k for each k = 0, 1,...,N whenever σ = (i1,..., im) satisfies i1 +· · ·+im = m+k. We introduce the elementary Hankel tensors which are some special Hankel tensors, and present all the eigenvalues of the elementary Hankel tensors for k = 0, 1, 2. We also show that a convolution can be expressed as the product of some third-order elementary Hankel tensors, and a Hankel tensor can be decomposed as a convolution of two Vandermonde matrices following the definition of the convolution of tensors. Finally, we use the properties of the convolution to characterize Hankel tensors and (0,1) Hankel tensors.  相似文献

For a normed algebra A and natural numbers k we introduce and investigate the ∥ · ∥ closed classes P k (A). We show that P1(A) is a subset of P k (A) for all k. If T in P1(A), then Tn lies in P1(A) for all natural n. If A is unital, U, V ∈ A are such that ∥U∥ = ∥V∥ = 1, VU = I and T lies in P k (A), then UTV lies in P k (A) for all natural k. Let A be unital, then 1) if an element T in P1(A) is right invertible, then any right inverse element T?1 lies in P1(A); 2) for ßßIßß = 1 the class P1(A) consists of normaloid elements; 3) if the spectrum of an element T, T ∈ P1(A) lies on the unit circle, then ∥TX∥ = ∥X∥ for all XA. If A = B(H), then the class P1(A) coincides with the set of all paranormal operators on a Hilbert space H.  相似文献

We give a classification of all linear natural operators transforming p-vectors (i.e., skew-symmetric tensor fields of type (p, 0)) on n-dimensional manifolds M to tensor fields of type (q, 0) on TAM, where TA is a Weil bundle, under the condition that p ≥ 1, np and nq. The main result of the paper states that, roughly speaking, each linear natural operator lifting p-vectors to tensor fields of type (q, 0) on TA is a sum of operators obtained by permuting the indices of the tensor products of linear natural operators lifting p-vectors to tensor fields of type (p, 0) on TA and canonical tensor fields of type (q ? p, 0) on TA.  相似文献

In this paper, we connect rectangular free probability theory and spherical integrals. We prove the analogue, for rectangular or square non-Hermitian matrices, of a result that Guionnet and Maïda proved for Hermitian matrices in (J. Funct. Anal. 222(2):435–490, 2005). More specifically, we study the limit, as n and m tend to infinity, of \(\frac{1}{n}\log\mathbb{E}\{\exp[\sqrt{nm}\theta X_{n}]\}\), where θ∈?, X n is the real part of an entry of U n M n V m and M n   is a certain n×m deterministic matrix and U n and V m are independent Haar-distributed orthogonal or unitary matrices with respective sizes n×n and m×m. We prove that when the singular law of M n converges to a probability measure μ, for θ small enough, this limit actually exists and can be expressed with the rectangular R-transform of μ. This gives an interpretation of this transform, which linearizes the rectangular free convolution, as the limit of a sequence of log-Laplace transforms.  相似文献

In this paper, for a vertex operator algebra V with an automorphism g of order T, an admissible V-module M and a fixed nonnegative rational number n ∈1/T Z_+, we construct an A_(g,n)(V)-bimodule Ag,n(M) and study its properties, discuss the connections between bimodule A_(g,n)(M) and intertwining operators. Especially, bimodule A _(g,n)-1T(M) is a natural quotient of A_(g,n)(M) and there is a linear isomorphism between the space IM~k M Mjof intertwining operators and the space of homomorphisms HomA_(g,n)(V)(A_(g,n)(M)  A_(g,n)(V)M~j(s), M~k(t)) for s, t ≤ n, M~j, M~k are g-twisted V modules, if V is g-rational.  相似文献
