Consider a model consisting of two phases: the GI/GI/1 queue and a buffer which is fed by a fluid arriving from a single-server queue. The fluid output from the GI/GI/1 queue is of the on/off type with on- and off-periods distributed as successive busy and idle periods in the GI/GI/1 queue. The fluid pours out of the buffer at a constant rate. The steady-state performance of this model is studied. We derive the Laplace-Stieltjes transform of the stationary distribution function of the buffer content in the case of the M/GI/1 queue in the first phase. It is shown that this distribution depends on the form of the service-time distribution. Therefore, the replacement of an M/GI/1 queue by an M/M/1 queue is not correct, in general. Continuity estimates are derived in the cast where the buffer is fed from the GI/GI/1 queue. The occurrence of disasters to a queueing system causes all customers to be removed if any are present. Although there has been much research on continuous-time queues with disasters, the discrete-time Geo/Geo/1 queue with disasters has appeared in the literature only recently. We extend this Geo/Geo/1 queue to the GI/Geo/1 queue. We present the probability generating function of the stationary queue length and sojourn time for the GI/Geo/1 queue. In this paper, we study the tail behavior of the stationary queue length of an M/G/1 retrial queue. We show that the subexponential tail of the stationary queue length of an M/G/1 retrial queue is determined by that of the corresponding M/G/1 queue, and hence the stationary queue length in an M/G/1 retrial queue is subexponential if the stationary queue length in the corresponding M/G/1 queue is subexponential. Our results for subexponential tails also apply to regularly varying tails, and we provide the regularly varying tail asymptotics for the stationary queue length of the M/G/1 retrial queue. Viewing the GI/G/c queue as a service system alternating between two basic states—that of a loaded (non-empty) GI/G/1 queue and that of a GI/G/∞ queue (dependent, respectively, on whether all servers in the GI/G/c queue are busy or otherwise)—approximations for the components of the mixture distribution of the steady-state probabilities are derived. The M/G/c queue is separately treated. Two imposed prerequisites, that only minimal prior information about the queue will be required and that no numeric method be needed other than a root-finding algorithm, are strictly adhered to. The accuracy attained is generally satisfactory, while remarkable algebraic simplicity is preserved.  相似文献

We consider a GI/GI/1 queue with the shortest remaining processing time discipline (SRPT) and light-tailed service times. Our interest is focused on the tail behavior of the sojourn-time distribution. We obtain a general expression for its large-deviations decay rate. The value of this decay rate critically depends on whether there is mass in the endpoint of the service-time distribution or not. An auxiliary priority queue, for which we obtain some new results, plays an important role in our analysis. We consider a finite buffer capacity GI/GI/c/K-type retrial queueing system with constant retrial rate. The system consists of a primary queue and an orbit queue. The primary queue has \(c\) identical servers and can accommodate up to \(K\) jobs (including \(c\) jobs under service). If a newly arriving job finds the primary queue to be full, it joins the orbit queue. The original primary jobs arrive to the system according to a renewal process. The jobs have i.i.d. service times. The head of line job in the orbit queue retries to enter the primary queue after an exponentially distributed time independent of the length of the orbit queue. Telephone exchange systems, medium access protocols, optical networks with near-zero buffering and TCP short-file transfers are some telecommunication applications of the proposed queueing system. The model is also applicable in logistics. We establish sufficient stability conditions for this system. In addition to the known cases, the proposed model covers a number of new particular cases with the closed-form stability conditions. The stability conditions that we obtained have clear probabilistic interpretation.  相似文献

We investigate deviation matrix for discrete-time GI/M/1-type Markov chains in terms of the matrix-analytic method, and revisit the link between deviation matrix and the asymptotic variance. Parallel results are obtained for continuous-time GI/M/1-type Markov chains based on the technique of uniformization. We conclude with A. B. We consider the GI/M/1/K queue where the server takes exponentially distributed vacations when there are no customers left to serve in the queue. We obtain the queue length distribution at arrival epochs and random epochs for the multiple vacation case. We present heuristic algorithms to compute the blocking probability for this system. In this paper, we give a detailed analysis of the GI/M/1 queue with exhaustive service and multiple exponential vacation. We express the transition matrix of the imbedded Markov chain as a block-Jacobi form and give a matrix-geometric solution. The probability distribution of the queue length at arrival epochs is derived and is shown to decompose into the distribution of the sum of two independent random variables. In addition, we discuss the limiting behavior of the continuous time queue length processes and obtain the probability distributions for the waiting time and the busy period.  相似文献

This paper investigates the M/M/s queueing model to predict an estimate for the proximity of the performance measures of queues with arrival processes that are slightly different from the Poisson process. Specifically, we use the strong stability method to obtain perturbation bounds on the effect of perturbing the arrival process in the M/M/s queue. Therefore, we build some algorithms based on strong stability method to predict stationary performance measures of the GI/M/s queue. Consider a stable FIFO GI/GI/1 → /GI/1 tandem queue in which the equilibrium distribution of service time at the second node S(2) is subexponential. It is shown that when the service time at the first node has a lighter tail, the tail of steady-state delay at the second node, D(2), has the same asymptotics as if it were a GI/GI/1 queue: $$x \to \infty $$ where S e(2) has equilibrium (integrated tail) density P(S(2) > $x$ )/E[S(2)], and ρ2 = λE[S(2)] (λ is the arrival rate of customers). The same result holds for tandem queues with more than two stations. For split-match (fork-join) queues with subexponential service times, we derive the asymptotics for both the sojourn time and the queue length.
