In this study, radiation synthesis and characterization of swelling behavior and network structure of poly(N,N-dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate) (PDMAEMA), and poly(N,N-dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate-co-N-vinyl 2-pyrrolidone) (P(DMAEMA-co-VP)), hydrogels were investigated. PDMAEMA and P(DMAEMA-co-VP) hydrogels in the rod forms were prepared by irradiating the ternary mixtures of DMAEMA/VP/cross-linking agent, ethyleneglycol dimethacrylate (EGDMA), by gamma rays at ambient temperature. In composition ranges where the three components were completely miscible, water was also added to the ternary mixture to provide the formation of homogeneous polymerization and gelation. The influence of irradiation dose, comonomer, VP, and cross-linking agent, EGDMA, content on the total percentage gelation and monomer conversion were investigated. The effect of pH and temperature on the swelling behavior of hydrogels have also been examined. Hydrogels showed typical pH response and temperature responses, such as low-pH and low temperature swelling and high-pH and high temperature deswelling. Polymer-solvent interaction parameter (χ) and enthalpy and entropy changes appearing in the χ parameter for the P(DMAEMA-co-VP)-water system were determined by using Flory-Rehner theory of swelling equilibrium. The negative values for ΔH and ΔS indicate that prepared pure PDMAEMA and P(DMAEMA-co-VP) hydrogels have lower critical solution temperature (LCST) and Flory-Rehner theory of swelling equilibrium provides a satisfactory agreement to the experimental swelling data of the hydrogels.  相似文献

In this study, interpenetrating polymer network (IPN) hydrogel systems including maleic acid (MA) were constituted to improve the solubility of phosphate fertilizers. A series of full and semi-IPN hydrogels were prepared from various gelatin/polyacrylamide mixtures by using two different cross-linkers. The effects of polymer composition on the morphological structures and swelling behaviors of the hydrogels were investigated. The swelling values of all hydrogels were found to be in between 435% and 830%. MA release from load0ed hydrogels was followed and it was determined that MA-loaded hydrogels efficiently decreased pH and improved the solubility of Ca3(PO4)2 in releasing medium.  相似文献

Thermosensitive hydrogels are made by radical homopolymerization of N-isopropylacrylamide (NIPAAM) or copolymerization of NIPAAM with 2-acrylamido-2-methyl-propane sulfonic acid (AMPS). The networks are semi-interpenetrated (s-IPN) with linear conducting polymers: polyaniline (PANI) or poly(N-methylaniline) (PNMANI). The semi-interpenetration affect slightly the phase transition temperature (measured by DSC) of the hydrogels, while water uptake capacity is strongly affected and depends on the relative hydrophobicity of the conducting polymer. Since polyanilines can be protonated in aqueous media, the swelling capacity of the s-IPN hydrogel depends strongly on pH unlike the unmodified hydrogel. The release of a model compound (tris(2,2′-bipyridine)ruthenium (II), ), driven by swelling or temperature, is also strongly affected both by the introduction of sulfonic groups, by copolymerization of NIPAAM with AMPS, semi-interpenetration and on the hydrophobicity of the conducting polymer. In that way, composite materials with quite different ion exchange behavior can be made by copolymerization and conducting polymer interpenetration.  相似文献

The thermo-sensitive swelling behaviour of hydrogels based on 2-(2-methoxyethoxy)ethyl methacrylate (MEO2MA) and synthesized by free radical polymerization has been investigated. The homopolymer hydrogel presents a low critical solution temperature (LCST) close to room temperature, which can be modulated by copolymerization with longer oligo(ethylene glycol) side chain methacrylates (OEGxMA). Then, three series of copolymeric hydrogels synthesized with MEO2MA and several low ratios of OEGxMA with Mn = 475 g mol−1 (OEG8MA), Mn = 1100 g mol−1 (OEG23MA) and Mn = 2080 g mol−1 (OEG45MA) were studied. In addition to conventional tetra(ethylene glycol) dimethacrylate (TEGDMA) crosslinker, the use of biodegradable oligo(caprolactone) dimethacrylate (OCLDMA) was also tested. The hydrophilic/hydrophobic balance, function of the short and the long OEG side chains, establishes a swelling behaviour depending on monomer composition, side chain length and temperature. The swelling at equilibrium increases with increasing the amount of OEGxMA in the copolymer and, at the same time, the collapsing moves progressively to higher temperature. The temperature dependent volumetric response of some of these hydrogels can be compare with the most extended thermo-sensitive hydrogel, which is based on poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (P(N-iPAAm)). Therefore, they are potential candidates to replace it in applications where biocompatibility is required.  相似文献

Superswelling acrylamide (AAm)/maleic acid (MA) hydrogels were prepared by free radical polymerization in aqueous solution of AAm with MA as comonomer with some multifunctional crosslinkers such as trimethylolpropane triacrylate and 1,4-butanediol dimethacrylate. AAm/MA hydrogels were used in experiments on swelling and adsorption of a water-soluble monovalent cationic dye such as Basic Blue 17 (Toluidin Blue). As a result of dynamic swelling tests, the influence of relative content of MA on the swelling properties of the hydrogel systems was examined. AAm/MA hydrogels were swollen in the range 1660-6050% in water, while AAm hydrogels swelled in the range 780-1360%. Equilibrium water content of AAm/MA hydrogels were calculated in the range 0.8873-0.9837. Water intake of hydrogels followed a non-Fickian type diffusion. The uptake of the cationic dye, BB-17 to AAm/MA hydrogels is studied by batch adsorption technique at 25 °C. In the experiments of the adsorption equilibrium, S-type adsorption in Giles's classification system was found. The binding ratio of hydrogel/dye systems was gradually increased with the increase of MA content in the AAm/MA hydrogels.  相似文献

A new kind of pH-/temperature-responsive semi-interpenetrating polymer network hydrogels based on linear sodium carboxymethylcellulose (CMC) and poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPA) cross-linked by inorganic clay (CMC/PNIPA/Clay hydrogel) was prepared. The temperature- and pH-responsive behaviors, the mechanical properties of these hydrogels were investigated. The CMC/PNIPA/Clay hydrogels exhibited a volume phase transition temperature around 32 °C with no significant deviation from the conventional PNIPA hydrogels. The swelling ratio of the CMC/PNIPA/Clay hydrogels gradually decreased with increasing the contents of clay. The influence of pH value on swelling behaviors showed that there is a maximum swelling ratio at pH 5.9. Moreover, the CMC/PNIPA/Clay hydrogels exhibited excellent mechanical properties with high tensile stress and elongation at break in excess of 1200%.  相似文献

Based on a biodegradable cross-linker, acryloyloxyethylaminopolysuccinimide (AEA-PSI), a series of looser cross-linked poly(N-isopropylacrylamide-co-acrylic acid) [P(NIPAAm-co-AAc)] hydrogels were prepared, and their water content, swelling/deswelling kinetics, and the morphology of the gels were investigated. The swelling behaviors of AEA-PSI-cross-linked P(NIPAAm/AAc) hydrogels were investigated in Dulbecco’s phosphate-buffered saline (pH = 7.4), in the distilled water, and in the simulated gastric fluids (pH = 1.2), respectively. The water contents of the hydrogels were controlled by the monomer molar ratio of NIPAAm/AAc, swelling media, and the temperature. In the swelling kinetics, all the dried hydrogels exhibited fast swelling behavior, and the swelling ratios were influenced significantly by the amounts of AEA-PSI and AAc content. The deswelling kinetics of the hydrogel were independent of the content of AAc and cross-linker. Lastly, the morphology of the hydrogels was estimated by the field scan electron microscopy.  相似文献

In this work, a hemicellulose-containing hydrogel was synthesized. As the first step, a temperature- and pH-sensitive copolymer was synthesized from itaconic acid and N-isopropylacrylamide (NIPAAm). Then the hydrogel was prepared by reacting the copolymer with acylated hemicellulose and polyvinyl alcohol. The morphology, compressive strength, thermal stability, swelling/deswelling behavior, drug-release behavior performances of the hydrogels were investigated. The lower critical solution temperature of the hydrogels varied in 34–44°C when the NIPAAm and itaconic acid mass ratios ranged in 100/0–90/10. Both temperature and pH had a significant influence on equilibrium swelling ratio of hydrogels. The equilibrium swelling ratio increased with pH, but decreased with temperature. Cytocompatibility assay demonstrated that this hemicellulose-containing hydrogel was biocompatible. The release process of salicylic acid suggested that this hydrogel had a potential use in controlled drug release.  相似文献

Hydrophobically modified poly[2-(diethylamino)ethylmethacrylate-co-N-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone/octadecyl acrylate] [P(DEAEMA-NVP/OA)] hydrogels with different OA content were prepared by free-radical crosslinking copolymerization of corresponding monomers in tert-butanol. The swelling equilibrium of the hydrogels was investigated as a function of temperature and hydrophobic comonomer content in pure water. An interesting feature of the swelling behavior of the P(DEAEMA-NVP/OA) hydrogels was the reentrant phase transition where the hydrogels collapse once and reswell as temperature increased. The average molecular mass between crosslinks and polymer-solvent interaction parameter (χ) of the hydrogels were calculated from equilibrium swelling values. The enthalpy (ΔH) and entropy (ΔS) changes appearing in the χ parameter for the hydrogels were determined by using the Flory-Rehner theory. It was observed that the experimental swelling data of the hydrophobic hydrogels at different temperature agreed with the Flory-Rehner theory, that provided that the sensitive dependence of χ parameter on both temperature and polymer concentration is taken into account.  相似文献

In this work, Fe3O4/poly(3-acrylamidephenylboronic acid-co-(2-dimethylamino) ethyl methacrylate) (Fe3O4/P(AAPBA-co-DMAEMA)) hydrogels possessing magnetic and triple-responsive properties and semi-interpenetrated by β-cyclodextrin-epichlorohydrin (β-CD-EPI) were prepared via radical polymerization. The characteristics of the materials have been investigated by Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM). The swelling measurements and the application of Fe3O4/P(AAPBA-co-DMAEMA)/(β-CD-EPI) hydrogels in controlled release of drug were also investigated. It was found that the magnetic hydrogels exhibit swelling behaviors affected by pH, temperature, glucose concentration and magnetic field, and have porous morphologies, superparamagnetism. Moreover, the hydrogels possess targeting and could control the release of quercetin by adjusting pH value, temperature, glucose concentration and magnetic field.  相似文献

A series of thermoreversible copolymeric hydrogels with various molar ratios of N-isopropylacrylamide (NIPAAm) and hydrophobic monomers such as 2,2,3,3,4,4,5,5-octafluoropentyl methacrylate (OFPMA) and n-butyl methacrylate (BMA) were prepared by emulsion polymerization. The effect of hydrophobic monomer on the swelling behavior and mechanical properties of the present copolymeric hydrogels was investigated. Results showed that the equilibrium swelling ratio and critical gel transition temperature (CGTT) decreased with an increase of the content of hydrophobic monomer, but the gel strength of the gel increased with an increase of the content of hydrophobic monomer. Due to stronger hydrophobicity of OFPMA, the NIPAAm/OFPMA copolymeric hydrogels had lower swelling ratios and higher gel strengths than NIPAAm/BMA copolymeric gels.  相似文献

N‐Isopropylacrylamide/itaconic acid copolymeric hydrogels were prepared by irradiation of the ternary mixtures of N‐isopropylacrylamide/itaconic acid/water by γ‐rays at ambient temperature. The dependence of swelling properties and phase transitions on the comonomer concentration and temperature were investigated. The hydrogels showed both temperature and pH responses. The effect of comonomer concentration on the uptake and release behavior of the hydrogels was studied. Methylene blue (MB) was used as a model drug for the investigation of drug uptake and release behavior of the hydrogels. The release studies showed that the basic parameters affecting the drug release behavior of the hydrogels were pH and temperature of the solution. Copyright © 2004 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

In this study, swelling behavior and mechanical properties of polyelectrolyte cationic hydrogels of poly((2-dimethylamino) ethyl methacrylate) (PDMAEMA), and poly((2-dimethylamino) ethyl methacrylate-co-butyl methacrylate) (P(DMAEMA-co-BMA)), were investigated. Hydrogels were prepared by free-radical solution copolymerization of DMAEMA and BMA using ethylene glycol dimethacrylate (EGDMA) as the crosslinking agent. Compression-strain measurements were used to analyze the mechanical properties of the hydrogels. It was found that increasing the amount of BMA comonomer in the gel structure increases the compression modulus of the material. The results of mechanical measurements were used to characterize the network structure of the hydrogels, namely the effective crosslinking density (. It was found that exceeds the theoretical crosslinking density (νt) calculated from the initial amount of EGDMA used for hydrogel synthesis. These hydrogels demonstrated dual sensitivity to both pH and temperature. It was shown that the pH-sensitive or temperature-sensitive phase transition behavior of the gels can be changed by changing the temperature or pH of the swelling medium at constant hydrogel composition. Increasing the temperature decreased the transition pH of the pH-sensitive phase transition. On the other hand, increasing the pH of the surrounding medium decreased the transition temperature of the temperature-sensitive phase transition. Incorporation of BMA in the gel structure has a significant effect on the transition point of the gel. Increasing the BMA content reduced the transition pH and temperature of the pH- and temperature-sensitive phase transition, respectively. The similar effect of increasing temperature or BMA content can be explained by the role of hydrophobicity in the phase transition behavior of hydrogels. Finally, the results of equilibrium swelling and compression-strain measurements were used to calculate the polymer-solvent interaction parameters of these hydrogels using the Flory-Rehner equation of equilibrium swelling.  相似文献

A type of novel hybrid hydrogels from sodium humate (SH), polyacrylamide (PAM), and hydrophilic Laponite clay were prepared using potassium persulfate (KPS) as the initiator and N,N′-methylenebisacrylamide (MBA) as the cross-linker. The structures of the hydrogels were characterized by field emission scanning electron microscope and FTIR. Their swelling properties, swelling mechanism and rheological properties were also investigated. Experiments show that the composite is heterogeneous in the PAM/SH hydrogel system, while the clay collaborates with SH and improves the network structure of PAM/SH/clay hydrogel. High water-absorbing capability is shown for both hydrogel systems. Han plot proves that clay and SH are compatible with PAM for PAM/SH/clay hydrogels.  相似文献

Hydrogels with pH/temperature responsiveness and high water uptake have been synthesized by the free radical polymerization of 2-(2-methoxyethoxy)ethyl methacrylate (MEO2MA) with N,N-dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate (DMAEMA) in a low proportion. The amphiphilic character of the biocompatible MEO2MA provides thermo-sensitivity at low temperature. On the other hand, DMAEMA units incorporate ionisable amino groups and hydrophobic moieties, leading by themselves to a dual pH and thermo-sensitive system. Therefore, the combination of both monomers yields an interesting system with tuneable pH/temperature responsiveness and swelling capacity, which depends on composition and ionic strength. Thus, the volume transition temperature (VTT) is suppressed at low pH due to the basic character of DMAEMA. However, at basic pH, where amino groups are not charged, lower swelling capacities and narrow thermal volume transitions were obtained. At neutral pH, higher modulation of both the swelling achieved and VTT was observed.  相似文献

The copolymeric hydrogels based on 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA) and itaconic acid (IA) were synthesized by gamma radiation induced radical polymerization. Swelling and thermodynamic properties of PHEMA and copolymeric P(HEMA/IA) hydrogels with different IA contents (2, 3.5 and 5 mol%) were studied in a wide pH and temperature range. Initial studies of so-prepared hydrogels show interesting pH and temperature sensitivity in swelling and drug release behavior. Special attention was devoted to temperature investigations around physiological temperature (37 °C), where small changes in temperature significantly influence swelling and drug release of these hydrogels. Due to maximum swelling of hydrogels around 40 °C, the P(HEMA/IA) hydrogel containing 5 mol% of IA without and with drug-antibiotic (gentamicin) were investigated at pH 7.40 and in the temperature range 25–42 °C, in order to evaluate their potential for medical applications.  相似文献

Hydrogels composed of N-isopropylacrylamide (NIPAAm) and acrylic acid (AAc) were prepared by redox polymerization with degradable chitosan cross-linkers. Chitosan degradable cross-linkers were synthesized by the acrylation of the amine groups of glucosamine units within chitosan and characterized with 1H NMR. With the chitosan cross-linkers, loosely cross-linked poly(N-isopropylacryamideco-acrylic acid) [P(NIPAAm-co-AAc)] hydrogels were prepared, and their phase transition behavior, lower critical solution temperature (LCST), water content and degradation properties were investigated. The chitosan cross-linked P(NIPAAm-co-AAc) hydrogels were pliable and transparent at room temperature. The LCST could be adjusted at 32∼39°C by alternating the feed ratio. Swelling was influenced by NIPAAm/AAc monomer ratio, cross-linking density, swelling media, and temperature. All hydrogels with different feeding ratios contained more than 95% water at 25°C in the ultra pure water and phosphate-buffered saline (PBS, pH = 7.4 ± 0.1), and had a prospective swelling in the simulated gastric fluids (SGF, pH = 1.2) > 72.54%. In degradation studies, breakdown of the chitosan cross-linked P(NIPAAm-co-AAc) hydrogels was dependent on the cross-linking density. The chitosan cross-linked P(NIPAAm-co-AAc) hydrogels which can be tailored to create environmentally-responsive artificial extracellular materials have great potential for future use.   相似文献

A series of poly(acrylic acid-co-acrylamide) (PAA)/SiO2 hybrid hydrogels were prepared by in situ frontal polymerization. It was found that the increase in the concentration of SiO2 nanoparticles could lead to the increase in front velocity (V f) and the highest front temperature (T max). This may be attributed to the fact that SiO2 nanoparticles could increase the liquid viscosity of reaction mixture. The obtained PAA/SiO2 hybrid hydrogels were characterized by SEM and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy spectrum and swelling measurements. The pH-sensitive swelling behaviors showed that the prepared PAA/SiO2 hybrid hydrogel had high pH sensitivity in different pH buffer solutions. Mechanical property test indicated that the PAA/SiO2 hybrid hydrogels exhibited a high compressive strength while remaining a high swelling radio (SR). The maximum of compressive strength and SR of the hybrid hydrogel may reach 42.6 kPa and 17.8, respectively, which was much higher than that of pure PAA hydrogel.  相似文献

In this article, novel smart hydrogels based on biodegradable pH sensitive poly(L ‐glutamic acid‐g‐2‐hydroxylethyl methacrylate) (PGH) chains and temperature‐sensitive hydroxypropylcellulose‐g‐acrylic acid (HPC‐g‐AA) segments were designed and synthesized. The influence of pH and temperature on the equilibrium swelling ratios of the hydrogels was discussed. The optical transmittance of the hydrogels was also changed as a function of temperature, which reflecting that the HPC‐g‐AA part of the hydrogels became hydrophobic at the temperature above the lower critical solution temperature (LCST). At the same time, the LCST of the hydrogels had a visible pH‐dependent behavior. Scanning electron microscopic analysis revealed the morphology of the hydrogels before and after enzymatic degradation. The biodegradation rate of the hydrogels was directly related to the PGH content and the pH value. The in vitro release of bovine serum albumin from the hydrogels were investigated. The release profiles indicated that both the HPC‐g‐AA and PGH contents played important roles in the drug release behaviors. These results show that the smart hydrogels seem to be of great promise in pH–temperature oral drug delivery systems. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem, 2011  相似文献

Dual temperature‐ and pH‐sensitive hydrogels composed of N‐isopropylacrylamide (NIPAM) and 2‐acrylamido‐2‐methyl‐propanosulfonic acid (AMPS) were prepared by free‐radical crosslinking copolymerization in aqueous solution at 22 °C. The mole percent of AMPS in the comonomer feed was varied between 0.0 and 7.5, while the crosslinker ratio was fixed at 5.0/100. The effect of AMPS content on thermo‐ and pH‐ induced phase transitions as well as equilibrium swelling/deswelling, interior morphology and network structure was investigated. The volume phase transition temperature (VPT‐T) was determined by both swelling/deswelling measurements and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) technique. In addition, the volume phase transition pH (VPT‐pH) was detected from the derivative of the curves of the swelling ratio (dQv/dpH) versus pH. The polymer‐solvent interaction parameter (χ) and the average molecular mass between crosslinks ( ) of hydrogels were calculated from swelling ratios in buffer solutions at various pHs. The enthalpy (ΔH) and entropy (ΔS) changes appearing in the χ parameter of hydrogels were also determined by using the modified Flory–Rehner equation. The negative values for ΔH and ΔS indicated that the hydrogels had a negative temperature‐sensitive property in water, that is, swelling at a lower temperature and shrinking at a higher temperature. It was observed that the experimental swelling data of hydrogels at different temperature agreed with the modified Flory‐Rehner approach based on the affine network model. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
