Philosophical aspects of chemometrical strategy in Analytical Chemistry

Summary This paper discusses the philosophical aspects of the three main chemometrical strategies in analytical chemistry: statistical data treatment, optimization and modelling, pattern recognition. It is possible by a more general consideration of these approaches to find a proper place of different philosophical categories such as form and content, induction and deduction, concrete and general in analytical chemistry. The philosophical aspect of the considerations allows a deeper penetration into the theoretical basis of chemical analysis.

Shape-selective ester hydrolysis by octadecyl immobilized H-ZSM-5 catalyst in liquid phase

The shape-selective property of octadecyltrichlorosilane treated H-ZSM-5, keeping the original acid strength (–5.6<Ho–3.0) in liquid phase in the hydrolysis of straight chain esters has been observed by comparing the reaction rates with those over octadecyltrichlorosilane treated SiO₂-Al₂O₃. The most pronounced effect was found in the case of ethyl decanoate, viz. ca. 6 times.

Bestimmung von Quecksilber(II) durch „Inverse Differential-Puls-Polarographie“

Zusammenfassung Die inverse Differential-Puls-Polarographie wurde zur Bestimmung kleinster Quecksilbermengen herangezogen. Bei Verwendung einer wachsimprägnierten Graphitelektrode gelang es, 10 ng Hg/ml zu bestimmen. Mit Hilfe einer Glassy Carbon-Elektrode konnte noch 1 ng/ml erfaßt werden.

Determination of mercury(II) by Differential-Pulse-Anodic-Stripping voltammetry

Summary The Differential Pulse Anodic Stripping Voltammetry was used for the determination of very small amounts of mercury. The application of a wax-impregnated graphite electrode allowed to determine 10 ng Hg/ml. By means of a glassy carbon electrode it was possible to decrease the limit of detection to 1 ng/ml.

Zusammenfassung Mit SC- und SC_, -MO-Methoden werden die grundlegenden Einflüsse von Ladungstermen in derHamilton-Diagonalmatrix auf -Elektronendichten und Bindungslängen weiter studiert, insbesondere an N-Heterocyclen (Benzologe des Pyrrols und Pyridins). Im Vergleich mit erweiterten -Elektronenansätzen vom SCF—PPP-Typ liefern die einfachen, auf einige wesentliche Terme reduzierten SC-Matrixelemente sehr gute Resultate.

The influence of charge terms in the hamilton diagonal-Matrix of self-consistent methods on the calculation of -electron densities and bond lengths

SC- and SC_, -MO methods are applied to the study. Subjects of the calculations are N-heterocycles (pyrrole and pyridine series). Simple SC matrix elements, which were found to include the essential terms, give good results in -electron densities and bond lengths.

Kinetik der Bindung von Dansylsarkosin (DS) zur Spezifizierung von Humanalbumin (HSA) in Serumkonserven

Zusammenfassung In Spenderserum und handelsüblichen Serumkonserven wurde die Bindung von Dansylsarkosin (DS) an Humanalbumin (HSA) mit Hilfe von stopped-flow-Messungen bestimmt. Die Umlagerung vom instabilen in den stabilen DS-HSA Komplex erfolgt mit einer Halbwertzeit von 3 ms. Die Halbwertzeit der Dissoziation beträgt für alle untersuchten Seren 25 ms. Wegen unterschiedlicher Affinitäten des Anlagerungskomplexes erfolgt die Bindung von DS nach Sterilisation mit -Propiolacton (BPL) und UV-Licht langsamer als ohne Behandlung der Seren.

Specification of human albumin (HSA) in preserved serum by dansylsarcosine (DS) binding kinetics

Summary Complexation of dansylsarcosine (DS) with human serum albumin (HSA) has been determined by stopped-flow in fresh human serum and commercial available serum. Conversion of the low affinity into the high affinity DS-HSA complex occurs with a half-life of 3 ms. Dissociation half-life was for all investigated seras 25 ms. Due to different affinity constants of the low affinity complex, binding reaction is slower for serum sterilized by -propiolacton and UV-light in comparison with untreated serum.

Isolierung von Arzneistoffen und Drogen aus biologischem Material

Zusammenfassung Ein Extraktions- und Isolierungsverfahren für Arzneistoffe in biologischem Material wird beschrieben. Die Proben werden mit wasserfreiem Kupfersulfat gemischt und pulverisiert; es entsteht ein Kupfersulfattrockenpulver, das dann einer Fest-flüssig-Extraktion unterzogen wird. Die Methode umgeht die langwierige Flüssig-flüssig-Extraktion von biologischem Material, ergibt reine Extrakte und eignet sich zur schnellen toxikologischen Analyse von Mageninhalt, Harn, Blut und Geweben.

Extraction and isolation procedure for drugs in biological material

Summary Samples are mixed and pulverized with anhydrous copper sulphate, yielding a drypowder, which then undergoes a solid-liquid extraction. The method avoids time wasting liquid-liquid extraction of biological material, gives clean extracts and is suitable for fast toxicological analysis of stomach contents, urine, blood and tissues.

Investigation of stability constants of magnesium ion-ammonia complexes

The polarographic method with indicator ion was used for investigation of magnesium ion complexation with ammonia. The numerical values of the stability constants ₁,₂,₃,₄ and the approximative value of ₅ were determined.

DTA identification of polycaprolactone

Polycaprolactone (PCL) is a new material used in orthopedics. It is characterized by an endothermic melting peak at about 61C, an endothermic decomposition peak at about 380C and an exothermic peak at about 453C. These three observed phenomena and the corresponding thermodynamic data made it easily possible to identify PCL among the other polymers previously examined with Differential Thermal Analysis (DTA).

Über die elektrische Leitfähigkeit von Jod- und Brommolekülkomplexen der (1-Aryl-3-isoindolyl-) (1-aryl-3-pseudoisoindolenyliden)-arylmethane und ihre Metallderivate

Zusammenfassung Es wurde die elektrische Leitfähigkeit einiger Molekülkomplexe der (1-Aryl-3-isoindolyl-)(1-aryl-3-pseudoisoindolenyliden)-arylmethane und ihrer Kobaltderivate mit Jod und Brom untersucht. Festgestellt wurde, daß diese Verbindungen einen verhältnismäßig niedrigen spezifischen elektrischen Widerstand (im Vergleich mit anderen ähnlichen Verbindungen, die ein tertiäres Stickstoffatom enthalten) haben, der sich exponentiell mit der Erhöhung der Temperature vermindert. Die untersuchten Molekülkomplexe verhalten sich als Thermistoren. Auf Grund der Versuchsdaten wurden die elektronische Konstante B, der Temperaturkoeffizient und die Aktivierungsenergie E errechnet. Die Aktivierungsenergiewerte liegen in den bis jetzt festgestellten Grenzen (von 0 bis 1,5 eV) für derartige Ladungsübergangskomplexe.

The lectrical conductivity of some molecular complexes of (1-aryl-3-isoindolyl-) (1-aryl-3-pseudoisoindolenyliden)-arylmethanes and their iodine and bromine derivatives

It was established that the said substances possess comparatively low specific electrical resistence (compared to similar substances having a tertiary nitrogen atom) which decreases exponentially with increasing temperature. The investigated molecular complexes have the properties of thermistors. On the basis of the experimental data the electron constant B, the temperature coefficient and the energy of activation E were calculated. The values of the energy of activation are within the so far established limits (from 0 upto 1.5 eV) for complexes with charge transmittance, such as the investigated substances.

Determination of α and β parameters in approximate SCF MO theories

The formula proposed by Linderberg for the evaluation of the resonance integral is further investigated. Consistency requirements for the parameters lead to an explanation of the Wolfsberg-Helmholz form for. The simple assumption that is proportional to the overlap integral is improved. The dependency of a and values on the distance in a diatomic molecule in this approximation is presented and discussed.

Zusammenfassung Linderbergs Formel zur Berechnung des Resonanzintegrals wird weiter untersucht. Konsistenzforderungen für die-Parameter führen zu einer Erklärung der Wolfsberg-Helmholz-Form für. Die einfache Annahme, daß dem Überlappungsintegral proportional ist, wird verbessert. Die Abhängigkeit von- und-Werten vom Atomabstand in einem zweiatomigen Molekül wird in dieser Näherung angegeben und diskutiert.

Determination of trace heavy metals associated with suspended particulate matter in pond water by microscale anodic stripping voltammetry

Summary Less than 1 milligram of suspended particulate matter in a 50-ml water sample was separated by centrifugation, decomposed with 22l of 21010 perchloric-nitric-hydrofluoric acid mixture, and analyzed for copper, lead, cadmium and zinc by microscale differential pulse anodic stripping voltammetry with a hanging mercury drop electrode in 300l of 0.06M perchloric acid. The procedure was simple and rapid, because a single Teflon microvessel was used throughout the whole procedure.

Bestimmung von Schwermetallspuren in suspendierten Teilchen in Teichwasser durch Anodic Stripping Voltammetry im Mikromaßstab

Zusammenfassung Weniger als 1 mg suspendierter Teilchenmaterie wurde durch Zentrifugieren abgetrennt, mit 22l eines Gemisches HClO₄HNO₃HF (21010) zersetzt und darin Cu, Pb, Cd und Zn durchDifferential-Pulse-Anodic-Stripping-Voltammetrymit hängender Hg-Tropfelektrode in 300 l 0.06M Perchlorsäure bestimmt. Das Verfahren ist einfach und schnell, es bedarf dazu nur eines Mikrokölbchens aus Teflon.

Scheme for the systematic identification of barium,strontium and calcium in mixtures

Summary A scheme of separation has been devised and tested, which permits detecting 1 g of any one of the common alkaline earth metals in presence of 250 g of the others. On the milligram scale, the precipitation and analysis of the group requires from 40 to 75 minutes.

Zusammenfassung Ein Trennungsgang, der den Nachweis von 1 g jedes der üblichen Erdalkalien in Gegenwart von 250 g der anderen gestattet, wurde ausgearbeitet und geprüft. Im Milligramm-Maßstab genügen 40 bis 75 Minuten für Fällung und Analyse der Gruppe. Auf Grund einer Vorprüfung wird der Trennungsgang der Zusammensetzung der Probe angepaßt. Große Mengen von Barium werden als Nitrat in Aceton abgeschieden; Calciumnitrat wird mit Methyläthylketon extrahiert.
