The critical temperature and mechanism functions for thermal decomposition of ε-CL-20, RS-ε-CL-20, α-CL-20, ε-CL-20/C4, and RS-ε-CL-20/C4 were evaluated based on non-isothermal TG data. A two-step mechanism has been found for thermal decomposition of α-CL-20, ε-CL-20/C4, and RS-ε-CL-20/C4, where the initial step is partly controlled by crystal structure of CL-20. The more reasonable mean activation energies could be obtained after peak separation for each individual steps. In fact, the activation energy for the post integrated process is almost equivalent with that of the second step, indicating that the total activation energy at the main decomposition process is dominated by thermolysis of CL-20 molecular. Besides, it has been found that the decomposition of C4 matrix does not affect the decomposition of normal ε-CL-20, resulting in identical activation energy and reaction model. However, the interaction between the C4 matrix and RS-ε-CL-20 is significant especially at the initial stage, where the activation energy of RS-ε-CL-20/C4 was overestimated before peak separation, while the activation energy for the second step due to thermolysis of CL-20 molecular is underestimated. The first decomposition step for α-CL-20, ε-CL-20/C4, and RS-ε-CL-20/C4 could be considered as autocatalytic process (AC model), whereas the second as JMA model, which is also applicable to that of pure ε-CL-20 and RS-ε-CL-20. Moreover, The critical temperatures of thermal explosion (T b) are obtained as 205.6, 205.5, 209.4, 214.4, and 227.5 °C for α-CL-20, ε-CL-20, RS-ε-CL-20, ε-CL-20/C4, and RS-ε-CL-20/C4, respectively. It proves that the C4 matrix could stabilize ε-CL-20 while the crystal form of CL-20 has little effect on its thermal stability.  相似文献

Inspired by the recent cocrystallization and theory of energetic materials, we theoretically investigated the intermolecular vibrational energy transfer process and the non-covalent intermolecular interactions between explosive compounds. The intermolecular interactions between 2,4,6-trinitrotoluene (TNT) and 2,4,6,8,10,12-hexanitro-2,4,6,8,10,12-hexaazaisowurtzitane (CL-20) and between 1,3,5,7-tetranitro-1,3,5,7-tetrazocane (HMX) and CL-20 were studied using calculated two-dimensional infrared (2D IR) spectra and the independent gradient model based on the Hirshfeld partition (IGMH) method, respectively. Based on the comparison of the theoretical infrared spectra and optimized geometries with experimental results, the theoretical models can effectively reproduce the experimental geometries. By analyzing cross-peaks in the 2D IR spectra of TNT/CL-20, the intermolecular vibrational energy transfer process between TNT and CL-20 was calculated, and the conclusion was made that the vibrational energy transfer process between CL-20 and TNTII (TNTIII) is relatively slower than between CL-20 and TNTI. As the vibration energy transfer is the bridge of the intermolecular interactions, the weak intermolecular interactions were visualized using the IGMH method, and the results demonstrate that the intermolecular non-covalent interactions of TNT/CL-20 include van der Waals (vdW) interactions and hydrogen bonds, while the intermolecular non-covalent interactions of HMX/CL-20 are mainly comprised of vdW interactions. Further, we determined that the intermolecular interaction can stabilize the trigger bond in TNT/CL-20 and HMX/CL-20 based on Mayer bond order density, and stronger intermolecular interactions generally indicate lower impact sensitivity of energetic materials. We believe that the results obtained in this work are important for a better understanding of the cocrystal mechanism and its application in the field of energetic materials.  相似文献

The crystal structure, thermal behavior, and decomposition kinetics of ε-CL-20, RS-ε-CL-20, α-CL-20, ε-CL-20/C4, and RS-ε-CL-20/C4 were investigated by nonisothermal FTIR, TG, and DSC techniques. It was found that the thermal decomposition of α-CL-20, ε-CL-20/C4, and RS-ε-CL-20/C4 could be considered as a two-step process and the initial step is partly controlled by crystal structure. However, the crystal structure could only affect the initial step of decomposition and the total heat release, and the heat release of RS-ε-CL-20 is the highest compared with α- and normal ε-CL-20. In addition, the activation energy of studied materials was calculated by Kissinger method and modified KAS method, which was compared with the results obtained by other researchers. It was indicated that the obtained activation energy of ε-CL-20 by Kissinger method is about 176.0 kJ mol?1, which is almost the same with the results from the literatures by STABIL and Noniso-TG methods. It was noticed that the crystal structure has significant effect on the initial activation energy distribution of CL-20, while in case of second stage (α = 0.30–0.85) this effect is relatively small, resulting in identical decomposition mechanism. Moreover, the kinetic compensation effects show that the studied materials could be divided into two groups, one including ε-CL-20, RS-ε-CL-20, α-CL-20, and ε-CL-20/C4 which decompose at solid state and another including ε-CL-20/Formex and RS-ε-CL-20/C4 which decompose at partial liquid state, resulting in different kinetic compensation effects. It reveals that the C4 base could affect the distribution of activation energy of ε-CL-20 and RS-ε-CL-20 in a totally different way.  相似文献

In order to better understand the role of binder content, molecular dynamics (MD) simulations were performed to study the interfacial interactions, sensitivity and mechanical properties of 2,4,6,8,10,12-hexanitro-2,4,6,8,10,12-hexaazaisowurtzitane/2,4,6-trinitrotoluene (CL-20/TNT) based polymer-bonded explosives (PBXs) with fluorine rubber F2311. The binding energy between CL-20/TNT co-crystal (1 0 0) surface and F2311, pair correlation function, the maximum bond length of the N–NO2 trigger bond, and the mechanical properties of the PBXs were reported. From the calculated binding energy, it was found that binding energy increases with increasing F2311 content. Additionally, according to the results of pair correlation function, it turns out that H–O hydrogen bonds and H–F hydrogen bonds exist between F2311 molecules and the molecules in CL-20/TNT. The length of trigger bond in CL-20/TNT were adopted as theoretical criterion of sensitivity. The maximum bond length of the N–NO2 trigger bond decreased very significantly when the F2311 content increased from 0 to 9.2%. This indicated increasing F2311 content can reduce sensitivity and improve thermal stability. However, the maximum bond length of the N–NO2 trigger bond remained essentially unchanged when the F2311 content was further increased. Additionally, the calculated mechanical data indicated that with the increase in F2311 content, the rigidity of CL-20/TNT based PBXs was decrease, the toughness was improved.  相似文献

In order to attain comprehensive insights into the crystallization of 2,4,6,8,10,12-hexanitro-2,4,6,8,10,12-hexaazaisowurtzitane (CL-20) from solutions, the geometric and electronic structures and conformational transformations of its β-, γ-, ε-, ζ- and η- forms in six organic solvents (ethanol, ethyl acetate, methanol, acetone, acetonitrile, and 2-propanol) were evaluated using quantum chemistry calculations. Results showed that solvents have little effect on the geometric structures of molecules but greatly impact the energy and electronic structure of CL-20. The electron density, atomic charges, and electrostatic potential of CL-20 exhibit polarization due to the solvent effect, especially in alcohols. The polarity of CL-20 increased because of the change in electron density. The transformations of the five conformers of CL-20 were studied thoroughly, and the energy barriers were evaluated using the Gibbs energies. Importantly, the reason η-CL-20 is only found in CL-20-based cocrystals was suggested. These results indicate that solvents play a critical role in crystal growth.  相似文献

A new family of energetic caged compounds was designed by introducing -NH- into the CL-20 skeleton and their energetic properties and impact sensitivity were investigated by using density functional theory. The results indicate that favorable substitution positions of the amine groups in the skeleton is helpful for increasing the heats of formation. Most of the seven compounds have high crystal densities above 1.9 g/cm3. Five compounds have the predominant detonation properties over CL-20. The derivatives with one NH2 group have lower impact sensitivity than those with two NH2 groups. Taking the detonation performance and impact sensitivity into consideration, four compounds may be selected as the potential candidates of high energy density compounds.  相似文献

We designed a series of energetic compounds based on the CL-20 molecular skeleton, and the properties including molecular geometric structures, electronic structures, density, heat of formation, detonation performances, and impact sensitivity were evaluated using density functional theory (DFT). The results indicate that five molecules have higher density values than that of Octahydro-1,3,5,7-tetranitro-1,3,5,7-tetrazocine (HMX; 1.91 g/cm3) and A4 has a larger density value (2.07 g/cm3) than that of CL-20 (2.04 g/cm3). In addition, most of the molecules have better detonation performances and stability than those of CL-20, with A4 showing much greater detonation velocity (9.93 km/s) and pressure (47.32 GPa) than those of CL-20 with a h50 value of 14.02 cm. Taking both excellent detonation performance and low sensitivity into consideration, all seven compounds except for A3 and A5 are considered as potential energetic compounds. These theoretically calculated results would be conducive to the design and synthesis of novel nitramine energetic compounds.  相似文献

Five polymer bonded explosives (PBXs) with the base explosiveε-CL-20 (hexanitrohexaazaisowurtzitane), the most important high energy density compound (HEDC), and five polymer binders (Estane 5703, GAP, HTPB, PEG, and F2314) were constructed. Molecular dynamics (MD) method was employed to investigate their binding energies (Ebind), compatibility, safety, mechanical properties, and energetic properties. The information and rules were reported for choosing better binders and guiding formulation design of high energy density material (HEDM). According to the calculated binding energies, the ordering of compatibility and stability of the five PBXs was predicted as ε-CL-20/PEG > ε-CL-20/ Estane5703 ≈ε-CL-20/GAP > ε-CL-20/HTPB > ε-CL-20/F2314. By pair correlation function g(r) analyses, hydrogen bonds and vdw are found to be the main interactions between the two components. The elasticity and isotropy of PBXs based ε-CL-20 can be obviously improved more than pure ε-CL-20 crystal. It is not by changing the molecular structures of ε-CL-20 for each binder to affect the sensitivity. The safety and energetic properties of these PBXs are mainly influenced by the thermal capability (C°p) and density (ρ) of binders, respectively.  相似文献

A novel insensitive energetic cocrystal consisting of 3,3′‐bis(1,2,4‐oxadiazole)‐5,5′‐dione and 4‐amino‐1,2,4‐triazole in a 1:2 molar ratio was prepared and characterized. The structure of this cocrystal was characterized by single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction. The crystal structure of the cocrystal is a monoclinic system with P1 space group. Properties of the cocrystal studied included thermal decomposition and detonation performance. This cocrystal has a crystal density of 1.689 g · cm–3 at 173 K and good detonation performance (D = 6940 m · s–1, P = 20.9 GPa). Moreover, measured impact and friction sensitivities (IS > 40 J, FS > 360 N) show that it can be classified as an insensitive energetic material. Its thermodynamic properties indicate that it has moderate thermal stability with a sharp exothermic peak (244 °C, 5 K · min–1) and a high critical temperature of thermal explosion (523 K). In view of the observations above, it may serve as a promising alternative to known explosives such as TNT.  相似文献

A series of new high-energy insensitive compounds were designed based on 1,3,5-trinitro-1,3,5-triazinane (RDX) skeleton through incorporating -N(NO2)-CH2-N(NO2)-, -N(NH2)-, -N(NO2)-, and -O- linkages. Then, their electronic structures, heats of formation, detonation properties, and impact sensitivities were analyzed and predicted using DFT. The types of intermolecular interactions between their bimolecular assemble were analyzed. The thermal decomposition of one compound with excellent performance was studied through ab initio molecular dynamics simulations. All the designed compounds exhibit excellent detonation properties superior to 2,4,6,8,10,12-hexanitro-2,4,6,8,10,12-hexaazaisowurtzitane (CL-20), and lower impact sensitivity than CL-20. Thus, they may be viewed as promising candidates for high energy density compounds. Overall, our design strategy that the construction of bicyclic or cage compounds based on the RDX framework through incorporating the intermolecular linkages is very beneficial for developing novel energetic compounds with excellent detonation performance and low sensitivity.  相似文献

Theoretical methods involving molecular dynamics (MD) simulation and density functional theory were performed to investigate the different molecular ratios, mechanical Properties, structure, trigger bond, and intermolecular interaction of hexaazaisowurtzitane (CL‐20)/nitroguanidine (NQ) cocrystal explosive. Results of MD simulation show that CL‐20 and NQ packed in ratios of 1:1 present the larger binding energy and better mechanical properties than any other molecular ratios, which indicates 1:1 cocrystal can form the stable crystal structure. Shorter length and larger dissociation energy of trigger bond in composite structure than in isolated CL‐20 component suggests that the cocrystal may exhibit less sensitive than CL‐20. Analyses of atoms in molecules, reduced density gradient, and natural bond orbital confirm that intermolecular interactions are mainly derived from a series of weak hydrogen bond and strong vdW forces, involving of NH···O, CH···O, CH···N, O···N, and O···O. Additionally, composite structures of 2 and 3 bringing us more attractive performance will act as a key role in constructing of CL‐20/NQ cocrystal explosive. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

Previous studies have shown that the design of cocrystal explosives is one of the most promising approaches to decrease the sensitivity and maintain the detonation performance of existing explosives. As is well‐known, octahydro‐1,3,5,7‐tetranitro‐1,3,5,7‐tetrazocine (HMX) is a high energy density material (HEDM). But the application of HMX is limited, due to its high sensitivity. Thus, an insensitive explosive 5‐nitro‐1,2,4‐triazol‐3‐one (NTO) is proposed as a cocrystal former (CCF) to cocrystallize with HMX in the present work. The binding energies, heat of formations (HOFs), thermodynamic properties, atoms in molecules, and natural bond orbital analysis of four HMX/NTO complexes have been calculated using density functional theory methods, including meta‐hybrid functional (M062X) and dispersion‐corrected density functionals (B97D, ωB97XD). In addition, the crystal structure of HMX/NTO cocrystal has been investigated using Monte Carlo simulation and first principles methods. The HMX/NTO cocrystal is most likely to crystallize in triclinic crystal system with P1 space group, and corresponding cell parameters are Z = 2, a = 9.06 Å, b = 8.19 Å, c = 10.27 Å, α = 81.94°, β = 98.42°, γ = 82.03°, and ρ = 1.92 g/cm3. The detonation velocity and detonation pressure of HMX/NTO cocrystal are 8.73 km/s and 35.14 GPa, respectively, a little lower than those of HMX. Finally, bond dissociation energies (BDEs) of the weakest trigger bond in HMX/NTO complexes are calculated. The results show that HMX/NTO complexes are thermally stable and meet the thermal requirement of HEDMs (BDE > 120 kJ/mol). © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

The topologic properties of the electronic charge distribution of conformers of H3SiO(H)AlH3 molecule hydroxyl groups of zeolites are reported. The studied properties—total density, Laplacian density, and bond ellipticity—were evaluated at the position of the critical points of the O Si, O Al, and O H bonds, by using Hartree–Fock and second‐order Møller–Plesset levels of theory, and the STO/6‐31+G(d,p) standard basis set. For the H3SiO(H)AlH3 molecule, four conformers are identified. It is demonstrated that for these conformers, the total density and Laplacian density remain almost constant by effect of the rotations of the T H bonds, T=(Si, Al), around the corresponding O T bonds, respectively. However, these rotations induce sensible variations in the ellipticity at the position of the critical point of the O Al bonds, which are reflected in the OH bond distance, OH vibrational mode, and the stabilization energy of conformers. These results lead to a linear relationship between the magnitude of the bond ellipticity at the critical point of the O Al bonds and the frequency values of the OH bonds, with a correlation coefficient of r2=0.98. In addition, a good linear relationship between the ellipticity of the O Al bond and the pattern of the stabilization energy of conformers was also found. © 1999 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. The contradiction between energy and safety of explosives is better balanced by the host–guest inclusion strategy. To deeply analyze the role of small guest molecules in the host–guest system, we first investigated the intermolecular contacts of host and guest molecules through Hirshfeld surfaces, 2-D fingerprint plots and electrostatic interaction energy. We then examined the strength and nature of the intermolecular interactions between CL-20 and various small molecules in detail, using state-of-the-art quantum chemistry calculations and elaborate wavefunction analyses. Finally, we studied the effect of the small molecules on the properties of CL-20, using density functional theory (DFT). The results showed that the spatial arrangement of host and guest molecules and the interaction between host and guest molecules, such as repulsion or attraction, may depend on the properties of the guest molecules, such as polarity, oxidation, hydrogen content, etc. The insertion of H2O2, H2O, N2O, and CO2 had significant influence on the electrostatic potential (ESP), van der Waals (vdW) potential and chemical bonding of CL-20. The intermolecular interactions, electric density and crystal orbital Hamilton population (COHP) clarified and quantified the stabilization effect of different small molecules on CL-20. The insertion of the guest molecules improved the stability of CL-20 to different extents, of which H2O2 worked best.  相似文献

Noncovalent interactions, such as hydrogen bonding, metal coordination, and π-π stacking, are increasingly being utilized to develop well-ordered and self-organized supramolecular materials. Recently, new types of nonclassical weak interactions, such as C H···π, C H···F C, and C H···O, have been exploited in stabilizing the specific conformations of molecules and molecular assemblies in the solid state. These noncovalent interactions play an important role in materials comprised of polymer chains, because cooperative effects from a large number of weak interactions can lead to drastic changes in its conformation, several properties, and functionalities. The programmed design of synthetic helical polymer with well-defined molecular conformation has been the main subject in modern polymer science and engineering. Silicon-catenated polysilane is an ideal helical silicon quantum wire and polymers with unique photophysical properties. The present review highlights the spectroscopic evidences for through-space weak Si···F C interaction in poly(methyl-3,3,3-trifluoropropylsilane) ( 1 ) in noncoordinating and coordinating solvents by means of NMR (29Si and 19F) and IR spectroscopies, and viscometric measurement. It was found that 1 is applicable for chemosensors with an extremely high sensitivity and selectivity toward fluoride ions in tetrahydrofuran (THF) and with high sensitivity for nitroaromatic compounds, detected by a decrease in the photoluminescence intensity in THF and in thin solid film. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The crystal structures of the antimicrobial drug tinidazole [ TNZ ; systematic name: 1‐(2‐ethylsulfonylethyl)‐2‐methyl‐5‐nitroimidazole, C8H13N3O4S] and the 1:1 cocrystal of TNZ with the naturally occurring compound vanillic acid ( VA ; systematic name: 4‐hydroxy‐3‐methoxybenzoic acid, C8H8O4), namely, the TNZ – VA cocrystal, were determined by single‐crystal X‐ray analysis at 100 K. The supramolecular structure of the TNZ – VA cocrystal is composed of a carboxylic acid dimer and an O—H…N(heterocycle) synthon in the form of layers made up of O—H…N and O—H…O hydrogen bonds. The layers are joined via C—H…O hydrogen bonds, π–π stacking and C—H…π interactions. The energy framework analysis, together with interaction energy calculations using the DLPNO‐CCSD(T) method, indicates that the TNZ – VA cocrystal inherits strong interactions from the TNZ and VA crystals, which accounts for the enhanced thermal stability and reduced dissolution rate. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first example of a cocrystal containing TNZ .  相似文献

In recent years, cocrystallization has emerged as an effective way of tuning the properties of compounds and has been widely used in the field of energetic materials. In this study, we have prepared two novel cocrystals of CL‐20 and methylimidazole, including a 1:2 CL‐20 / 2‐mercapto‐1‐methylimidazole ( 1 ) and a 1:4 CL‐20 / 4‐methyl‐5‐nitroimidazole ( 2 ). Cocrystal 1 has good physical and detonation properties (ρ1 = 1.652 g · cm–3, D1 = 7073 m · s–1, P1 = 21.6 GPa); however, cocrystal 2 shows higher properties (ρ2 = 1.680 g · cm–3, D2 = 7945 m · s–1, P2 = 27.4 GPa). The performance of both cocrystals is better than those of TNT. Thermal performance suggests that both the cocrystals have moderate thermal stabilities. Cocrystal 1 decomposes at 164.9 °C and cocrystal 2 has an exothermic peak at 221 °C. Both cocrystals are insensitive energetic explosives (IS > 40 J, FS > 360 N). Methylimidazole compounds are rarely used as coformers to form cocrystals with CL‐20, which possess good properties for a range of potential applications. Herein, we provide new possible directions for enriching cocrystal speciation.  相似文献

To better understand the range of cellular interactions of PtII‐based chemotherapeutics, robust and efficient methods to track and analyze Pt targets are needed. A powerful approach is to functionalize PtII compounds with alkyne or azide moieties for post‐treatment conjugation through the azide–alkyne cycloaddition (click) reaction. Herein, we report an alkyne‐appended cis‐diamine PtII compound, cis‐[Pt(2‐(5‐hexynyl)amido‐1,3‐propanediamine)Cl2] ( 1 ), the X‐ray crystal structure of which exhibits a combination of unusual radially distributed CH/π(CC) interactions, Pt Pt bonding, and NH:O/NH:Cl hydrogen bonds. In solution, 1 exhibits no Pt alkyne interactions and binds readily to DNA. Subsequent click reactivity with nonfluorescent dansyl azide results in a 70‐fold fluorescence increase. This result demonstrates the potential for this new class of alkyne‐modified Pt compound for the comprehensive detection and isolation of Pt‐bound biomolecules.  相似文献

Based on density functional theory (DFT), four different methods with the generalized gradient approximation (GGA) have been employed to investigate the structural and electronic properties of the four polymorphs (alpha.H2O, beta, gamma, and epsilon phases) of CL-20, which is a well-known high energy density compound (HEDC). The relaxed crystal structures compare well with experimental data. According to the constitution of the frontier energy bands and the Mulliken population analyses, the N-NO2 bond is predicted to be the trigger bond during thermolysis. The density of states (DOS) of alpha-CL-20.H2O is somewhat different from those of the other three crystals for its inclusion of H2O molecules that contribute the frontier energy bands. The band gaps obtained from the four different methods are consistent with each other. According to the calculated values of band gaps, the sensitivity of the four polymorphs of CL-20 is predicted as epsilon < beta < gamma < alpha.H2O, which agrees well with the experimental result. The effects of hydrostatic compression on the most stable epsilon-CL-20 have also been investigated using the GGA-PBE method in the pressure range of 0-400 GPa. epsilon-CL-20 has anisotropic compressibility at low or high pressure. The band gap is found to decrease with increasing pressure, showing the corresponding sensitivity increase. Based on the changes of the band gap and DOS with pressure, 400 GPa is considered to be the critical pressure for the insulator-metal phase transition.  相似文献
