When the frequency range over which a reduction in vibration is desired is limited to a particular structural mode of vibration, for example, it is shown that a centralized velocity feedback controller can perform better than a decentralized controller for a given level of control effort. The decentralized controller, however, has the desirable properties of scalability and ease of implementation. A number of strategies for clustering the control locations have been proposed to exploit both the performance of the centralized controller and the scalability of decentralized controllers but these have previously been only locally optimal. This paper describes methods by which these distributed controllers may be designed to be globally optimal and gives examples of simulated results of these optimal distributed controllers.  相似文献

We have investigated decentralized active control of periodic panel vibration using multiple pairs combining PZT actuators and PVDF sensors distributed on the panel. By contrast with centralized MIMO controllers used to actively control the vibrations or the sound radiation of extended structures, decentralized control using independent local control loops only requires identification of the diagonal terms in the plant matrix. However, it is difficult to a priori predict the global stability of such decentralized control. In this study, the general situation of noncollocated actuator-sensor pairs was considered. Frequency domain gradient and Newton-Raphson adaptation of decentralized control were analyzed, both in terms of performance and stability conditions. The stability conditions are especially derived in terms of the adaptation coefficient and a control effort weighting coefficient. Simulations and experimental results are presented in the case of a simply supported panel with four PZT-PVDF pairs distributed on it. Decentralized vibration control is shown to be highly dependent on the frequency, but can be as effective as a fully centralized control even when the plant matrix is not diagonal-dominant or is not strictly positive real (not dissipative).  相似文献

Wavelength-division-multiplexing (WDM) is emerging as the dominant technology for the next generation optical networks. The control strategy can be either centralized or distributed. In centralized control, there is a central controller to keep track of the state of the network. It is also responsible for selecting the path for data transmission. Most of the work done in this field is based on centralized control. For large networks, distributed control is preferred over centralized control because of low control overhead. Distributed control strategy requires exchange of control messages among nodes. The distributed control generally results in the possibility of resource reservation conflicts among simultaneous path establishments and poor resource utilization. In this paper, we have proposed one distributed control based routing and wavelength assignment strategy that avoids the problem of resource reservation conflicts along with the efficient utilization of resources.  相似文献

In this paper, we apply the power control concept to optical CDMA star networks. Two approaches are considered, namely, centralized and distributed power control. Both approaches are used to optimize the optical transmit power and to maximize network capacity in terms of the number of users satisfying a target signal to interference (SIR) ratio. Centralized algorithms result in the optimum power vector while distributed algorithms are more suitable for practical system implementation and eliminate the need for a centralized control node. Both analytical and simulation results show significant improvement in the performance of the power controlled optical CDMA system. For instance, in a network of 31 nodes, a doubling of the capacity as compared to the non power control case is obtained. Furthermore, we show in the interference-limited case that the network performance is upper bounded by the number of nodes and the correlation properties of the employed code rather than network attenuation and optical fiber lengths. The concept of network partitioning is then introduced to simplify optimum power calculations. Using network partitioning, we find in the interference-limited case that the optical fibers after the star coupler are irrelevant to the optimum power evaluation.  相似文献

When multiple actuators and sensors are used to control the vibration of a panel, or its sound radiation, they are usually positioned so that they couple into specific modes and are all connected together with a centralized control system. This paper investigates the physical effects of having a regular array of actuator and sensor pairs that are connected only by local feedback loops. An array of 4 x 4 force actuators and velocity sensors is first simulated, for which such a decentralized controller can be shown to be unconditionally stable. Significant reductions in both the kinetic energy of the panel and in its radiated sound power can be obtained for an optimal value of feedback gain, although higher values of feedback gain can induce extra resonances in the system and degrade the performance. A more practical transducer pair, consisting of a piezoelectric actuator and velocity sensor, is also investigated and the simulations suggest that a decentralized controller with this arrangement is also stable over a wide range of feedback gains. The resulting reductions in kinetic energy and sound power are not as great as with the force actuators, due to the extra resonances being more prominent and at lower frequencies, but are still worthwhile. This suggests that an array of independent modular systems, each of which included an actuator, a sensor, and a local feedback control loop, could be a simple and robust method of controlling broadband sound transmission when integrated into a panel.  相似文献

Conventional optimization-based relay selection for multihop networks cannot resolve the conflict between performance and cost. The optimal selection policy is centralized and requires local channel state information (CSI) of all hops, leading to high computational complexity and signaling overhead. Other optimization-based decentralized policies cause non-negligible performance loss. In this paper, we exploit the benefits of reinforcement learning in relay selection for multihop clustered networks and aim to achieve high performance with limited costs. Multihop relay selection problem is modeled as Markov decision process (MDP) and solved by a decentralized Q-learning scheme with rectified update function. Simulation results show that this scheme achieves near-optimal average end-to-end (E2E) rate. Cost analysis reveals that it also reduces computation complexity and signaling overhead compared with the optimal scheme.  相似文献

Large fluctuation of electric power due to high penetration of renewable energy sources such as photovoltaic and wind power generation increases the risk to make the whole power network system unstable. The conventional frequency control called load frequency control is based on PID (proportional-integral-derivative) control or more advanced centralized and decentralized/distributed control. If we could more effectively use information on the state of the other neighbor generators, we can expect to make the whole system more robust against the large frequency fluctuation. This paper proposes a fundamental framework towards the design of hierarchical distributed stabilizing controllers for a network of power generators and loads. This novel type of distributed controller, composed of a global controller and a set of local controllers, takes into account the effect of the interaction among the generators and loads to improve robustness for the variation of locally stabilizing controllers.  相似文献

This paper shows how to reduce the bullwhip effect by introducing advance demand information (ADI) into the ordering schemes of supply chains. It quantifies the potential costs and benefits of ADI, and demonstrates that they are not evenly distributed across the chain. Therefore, market-based strategies to re-distribute wealth without penalizing any supplier are presented. The paper shows that if a centralized operation can eliminate the bullwhip effect and reduce total cost, then some of this reduction can also be achieved with decentralized negotiation schemes. Their performance is evaluated under different modes of probabilistic supplier behavior. For some forms of behavior the optimum is reached. But if suppliers are greedy and impatient the expected gain in wealth is relatively small. This is a case of economic “market failure”.  相似文献

This paper contains the second part of a study on a smart panel with five decentralized velocity feedback control units using proof mass electrodynamic actuators [Gonzalez Diaz et al., J. Acoust. Soc. Am. 124, 886 (2008)]. The implementation of five decentralized control loops is analyzed, both theoretically and experimentally. The stability properties of the five decentralized control units have been assessed with the generalized Nyquist criterion by plotting the loci of the eigenvalues of the fully populated matrix of frequency response functions between the five error signals and five input signals to the amplifiers driving the actuators. The control performance properties have been assessed in terms of the spatially averaged response of the panel measured with a scanning laser vibrometer and the total sound power radiated measured in an anechoic room. The two analyses have shown that reductions of up to 10 dB in both vibration response and sound radiation are measured at low audio frequencies, below about 250 Hz.  相似文献

We present a new decentralized classification system based on a distributed architecture. This system consists of distributed nodes, each possessing their own datasets and computing modules, along with a centralized server, which provides probes to classification and aggregates the responses of nodes for a final decision. Each node, with access to its own training dataset of a given class, is trained based on an auto-encoder system consisting of a fixed data-independent encoder, a pre-trained quantizer and a class-dependent decoder. Hence, these auto-encoders are highly dependent on the class probability distribution for which the reconstruction distortion is minimized. Alternatively, when an encoding–quantizing–decoding node observes data from different distributions, unseen at training, there is a mismatch, and such a decoding is not optimal, leading to a significant increase of the reconstruction distortion. The final classification is performed at the centralized classifier that votes for the class with the minimum reconstruction distortion. In addition to the system applicability for applications facing big-data communication problems and or requiring private classification, the above distributed scheme creates a theoretical bridge to the information bottleneck principle. The proposed system demonstrates a very promising performance on basic datasets such as MNIST and FasionMNIST.  相似文献

This paper describes a theoretical framework for the design and analysis of power control algorithms for high-throughput wireless networks using ultrawideband (UWB) technologies. The tools of game theory are shown to be expedient for deriving scalable, energy-efficient, distributed power control schemes to be applied to a population of battery-operated user terminals in a rich multipath environment. In particular, the power control issue is modeled as a dynamic noncooperative game in which each user chooses its transmit power so as to maximize its own utility, which is defined as the ratio of throughput to transmit power. Although distributed (noncooperative) control is known to be suboptimal with respect to the optimal centralized (cooperative) solution, it is shown via large-system analysis that the game-theoretic distributed algorithm based on Nash equilibrium exhibits negligible performance degradation with respect to the centralized socially optimal configuration. The framework described here is general enough to also encompass the analysis of code division multiple access (CDMA) systems and to show that UWB slightly outperforms CDMA in terms of achieved utility at the Nash equilibrium.  相似文献

Renewables will soon dominate energy production in our electric power system. And yet, how to integrate renewable energy into the grid and the market is still a subject of major debate. Decentral Smart Grid Control (DSGC) was recently proposed as a robust and decentralized approach to balance supply and demand and to guarantee a grid operation that is both economically and dynamically feasible. Here, we analyze the impact of network topology by assessing the stability of essential network motifs using both linear stability analysis and basin volume for delay systems. Our results indicate that if frequency measurements are averaged over sufficiently large time intervals, DSGC enhances the stability of extended power grid systems. We further investigate whether DSGC supports centralized and/or decentralized power production and find it to be applicable to both. However, our results on cycle-like systems suggest that DSGC favors systems with decentralized production. Here, lower line capacities and lower averaging times are required compared to those with centralized production.  相似文献

This paper investigates synchronization of coloured delayed networks under decentralized pinning intermittent control. To begin with, the time delays are taken into account in the coloured networks. In addition, we propose a decentralized pinning intermittent control are method, which is different from that most of pinning intermittent controls are only applied to the nodes from 1 to l or centralized nodes. Moreover, sufficient conditions are derived to guarantee the synchronization of coloured delayed networks based on Lyapunov stability theorem. Finally, numerical simulations are provided to verify the validity of the obtained results.  相似文献

Formation control and obstacle avoidance for multi-agent systems have attracted more and more attention. In this paper, the problems of formation control and obstacle avoidance are investigated by means of a consensus algorithm. A novel distributed control model is proposed for the multi-agent system to form the anticipated formation as well as achieve obstacle avoidance. Based on the consensus algorithm, a distributed control function consisting of three terms(formation control term, velocity matching term, and obstacle avoidance term) is presented. By establishing a novel formation control matrix, a formation control term is constructed such that the agents can converge to consensus and reach the anticipated formation. A new obstacle avoidance function is developed by using the modified potential field approach to make sure that obstacle avoidance can be achieved whether the obstacle is in a dynamic state or a stationary state. A velocity matching term is also put forward to guarantee that the velocities of all agents converge to the same value. Furthermore, stability of the control model is proven. Simulation results are provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed control.  相似文献

Finite element modelling of laminated structures with distributed piezoelectric sensor and actuator layers and control electronics is considered in this paper. Beam, plate and shell type elements have been developed incorporating the stiffness, mass and electromechanical coupling effects of the piezoelectric laminates. The effects of temperature on the electrical and mechanical properties and the coupling between them are also taken into consideration in the finite element formulation. The piezoelectric beam element is based on Timoshenko beam theory. The plate/shell element is a nine-noded field-consistent element based on first order shear deformation theory. Constant-gain negative velocity feedback, Lyapunov feedback as well as a linear quadratic regulator (LQR) approach have been used for active vibration control with the structures subjected to impact, harmonic and random excitations. The influence of the pyroelectric effects on the vibration control performance is also investigated. The LQR approach is found to be more effective in vibration control with lesser peak voltages applied in the piezo actuator layers as in this case the control gains are obtained by minimizing a performance index. The application of these elements in high-performance, light-weight structural systems is highlighted.  相似文献

In this paper, the control problem of distributed parameter systems is investigated by using wireless sensor and actuator networks with the observer-based method.Firstly,a centralized observer which makes use of the measurement information provided by the fixed sensors is designed to estimate the distributed parameter systems. The mobile agents, each of which is affixed with a controller and an actuator, can provide the observer-based control for the target systems.By using Lyapunov stability arguments, the stability for the estimation error system and distributed parameter control system is proved, meanwhile a guidance scheme for each mobile actuator is provided to improve the control performance.A numerical example is finally used to demonstrate the effectiveness and the advantages of the proposed approaches.  相似文献

The problem of damping out the oscillations of a rectangular membrane by means of distributed forces is solved analytically. The membrane may be subject to viscous damping and is clamped along the boundaries. The motion of the membrane is initiated by given initial displacement and velocity conditions. The basic control problem is to minimize the deflection and the velocity of displacements in a given period of time with the minimum possible expenditure of force. A quadratic vector performance index is chosen as the cost functional which comprises the functionals of the deflection, velocity and the distributed force. The necessary conditions of optimality are obtained from a control theory approach and formulated in the form of a maximum principle in terms of an adjoint variable. The multi-objective control formulation permits the decision maker to shift the weight of the control to the minimization of any one of the quantities of interest and explore the optimum capabilities of the structural element. Numerical results are given for various problem parameters and the efficiency of the control mechanism is investigated. The optimal tradeoff curves, which represent the points of optimum performance, are given for a couple of example problems with multiple objectives.  相似文献

We consider a multiple access MAC fading channel with two users communicating with a common destination, where each user mutually acts as a relay for the other one as well as wishes to transmit its own information as opposed to having dedicated relays. We wish to evaluate the usefulness of relaying from the point of view of the system’s throughput (sum rate) rather than from the sole point of view of the user benefiting from the cooperation as is typically done. We do this by allowing a trade-off between relaying and fresh data transmission through a resource allocation framework. Specifically, We propose a cooperative transmission scheme allowing each user to allocate a certain amount of power for its own transmitted data while the rest is devoted to relaying. The underlying protocol is based on a modification of the so-called non-orthogonal amplify-and-forward (NAF) protocol Azarian et al. [18]. We develop capacity expressions for our scheme and derive the rate-optimum power allocation, in closed form for centralized and distributed frameworks. In the distributed scenario, partially statistical and partially instantaneous channel information is exploited. The centralized power allocation algorithm indicates that even in a mutual cooperation setting like ours, on any given realization of the channel, cooperation is never truly mutual, i.e. one of the users will always allocate zero power to relaying the data of the other one, and thus act selfishly. But in a distributed framework, our results indicate that the sum rate is maximized when both mobiles act selfishly.  相似文献

Today’s supply networks consist of a certain amount of logistics objects that are enabled to interact with each other and to decide autonomously upon their next steps; in other words, they exhibit a certain degree of autonomous cooperation. Therefore, modern logistics research regards them as complex adaptive logistics systems. In order to analyze evolving dynamics and underlying implications for the respective systems’ behavior as well as the potential outcomes resulting from the interaction between autonomous decision-making “smart parts”, we propose in this contribution a fully solvable stylized model. We consider a population of homogeneous, autonomous interacting agents traveling on R with a given velocity that is itself corrupted by White Gaussian Noise. Based on real time observations of the positions of his neighbors, each agent is allowed to adapt his traveling velocity. These agent interactions are restricted to neighboring entities confined in finite spatial clusters (i.e. we have range-limited interactions). In the limit of a large population of neighboring agents, a mean-field dynamics can be derived and, for small interaction range, the resulting dynamics coincides with the exactly solvable Burgers’ nonlinear field equation. Explicit Burgers’ solution enables to explicitly appreciate the emergent structure due to the local and individual agent interactions. In particular, for strongly interactive regimes in the present model, the resulting spatial distribution of agents converges to a shock wave pattern. To compare performances of centralized versus decentralized organization, we assign cost functions incurred when velocity adaptations are triggered either by multi-agent interactions or by central control. The multi-agent cumulative costs are then compared with the costs that would be incurred by implementing an effective optimal central controller able, for a given time horizon, to reproduce an identical spatial probability distribution of agents. The resulting optimal control problem can be solved exactly and the corresponding costs can be expressed as the Kullback-Leibler relative entropy between the free and the controlled probability measures. This enables one to conclude that for time horizons shorter than a critical value, multi-agent interactions generate smaller cumulative costs than an optimal effective central controller.  相似文献

We report on a data center network(DCN) architecture based on hybrid optical circuit switching(OCS) and optical burst switching(OBS) interconnect for dynamic DCN connectivity provisioning. With the combination of the centralized and distributed control of the software-defined optical networks, the proposed interconnect can achieve unprecedented flexibility in dealing with both mice and elephant flow in the DCN. Numerical simulation is employed to investigate the performance of the proposed architecture. The results show that the OBS module has preferable performance in dealing with a larger burst packet, and the throughput is constrained by the capacity of the server random access memory module.  相似文献
