We have observed dispersive two-phonon Raman scattering of polaritons by LO and acoustic phonons near the lowest exciton state of ZnTe. From the Stokes shifts of these Raman lines, it has been found that the scattering process switches from an acoustic phonon followed by one LO phonon to the reversed one: a LO phonon followed by an acoustic one.  相似文献

Resonant light scattering spectra of excitonic polaritons are calculated with a model system consisting of one exciton band and LO and LA phonons by solving a balance equation describing the kinetic energy relaxation of polariton. The relative intensity of Raman sattering and luminescence changes with varying the incident photon energy because of the competition among various decay mechanisms of polariton. The results are in qualitative agreement with recent experimental observations.  相似文献

We report results on Resonant Raman Scattering (RRS) mediated by excitonic polaritons in a high-purity semiconductor (CdTe) at low temperatures. For the first time ingoing and outgoing resonances at the n = 1, 2, 3 exciton states are detected on the one and two LO-phonon RRS. The transformation at resonance of sharp Raman peaks into well-thermalized exciton luminescence bands is observed for every ingoing, outgoing or intermediate state resonance.  相似文献

The experimental difficulties in recording the phonon-polariton spectra of ZnS crystals are discussed. The measured polariton dispersion in cubic ZnS is presented and is found to be in good agreement with the calculated one.  相似文献

Summary By nonlinear mixing of IR and visible radiation,i.e. coherent Raman scattering by polaritons driven by a CO2 laser, it has been possible to get high-resolution spectra for theF-modes of a NaClO3 crystal in the region (907÷957) cm−1, where several isotopic modes are present. The obtained independent measurement of the refractive index and absorbance allows an accurate determination of the polariton dispersion curve and its width inq-space. The experimental data confirm the existence of a localized isotopic mode at 931 cm−1 and a strongly damped isotopic mode near 960 cm−1. Finally, an accurate measurement of the dispersion of the second-order nonlinear polarizability in the same energy region has been obtained for the first time. Additional waves of exciton polaritons are studied in thin (1.5–1.8 μm) CuGaS2 crystals at 9 K. The reflectivity spectra show a fine structure related to the interference of Fabry–Perot and additional waves which is a consequence of the polariton spatial dispersion. The main parameters of the exciton polaritons were determined from the spectra calculations. The Γ4 excitons of big oscillator strength are shown to excite the additional polariton waves of the Γ5 excitons of small oscillator strength, which interfere determining the fine structure in exciton resonance optical spectra.  相似文献

We present data on forward and backward scattering in CuCl at liquid N2 temperature. Peaks at 146 and 172 cm-1 which appear in both forward and backward scattering spectra are attributed to other than first order scattering by optical phonons. The data on polarition scattering indicate that the atomic displacement contribution to the scattering by TO phonons is rather small. From the experimentally determined polarition dispersion curve we obtain a value of 174 ±2.5 cm-1 for ωT and a value of 5.3 for ?S.  相似文献

Summary Nonlinear mixing of IR and visible radiation,i.e. coherent Raman scattering by polaritons driven by a CO2 laser, has been used to obtain the dispersion curve and its width inq-space of the polariton associated to theE-phonon at 1065 cm−1 in crystal quartz. It is shown in this paper that a direct method to determine indipendently, with high precision, the refractive index and absorbance of a crystal can be obtained in this way. The results are compared with accurate data obtained from Raman scattering by polaritions in thermal equilibrium and very good agreement is found between the two measurements. It is finally shown that nonlinear-mixing techniques turn out to be completely consistent with the simple picture of scattering of light by hot polaritons. Time of flight of polaritons is studied in the forbidden, mixed and allowed modes of propagation. With only one adjustable parameter, we obtain a very good agreement between all the experimental data and the usual oscillator model. In the calculation, the excited states of the A exciton and the n = 1 state of the B exciton are taken into account. The longitudinal-transverse splitting energy ?ωLT is found to be equal to 1.3 meV. We show that very close to resonances, it is not possible to describe the temporal evolution of the pulse by the group velocity of the wave packet. We give an example which shows we have to use the Fourier transform method.  相似文献

We study the angular dependence of the emission from cavity polaritons resonantly excited by a picosecond laser pulse. We observe that, in the first stage, the initial excitation is rapidly redistributed by elastic scattering along a well-defined ring in the wave vector space resulting in an angular-dependent emission. This initial transfer, which conserves the polarization, is attributed mainly to resonant Rayleigh scattering of polaritons. We also study the width of this ring and show that it is detuning dependent, reflecting the energy dispersion of the polaritons. At longer delay, the emission is found to be isotropic and depolarized, in agreement with previous studies.  相似文献

Excited states of excitonic molecules are found in the study of the two-photon-resonant Raman scattering. These states consist of four levels and have binding energies of 1.0–1.8 meV, which are very small compared with those of the ground states. Large resonance enhancements in the inelastic light scattering intensities involving free carriers have been measured at the E0 + Δ0 energy gap of n-GaAs.Results for spin-flip single particle excitations are well described as unscreened intraband scattering involving the Γ7 valence band as intermediate state. The resonance of the longitudinal plasmon-phonon coupled modes indicates the contribution of other so far not fully identified processes.  相似文献

Instabilities in the electric field at the QW in the active region of a GaAs based microcavity have been investigated under the resonance excitation near the inflection point of the low polariton (LP) dispersion curve with the use of four wave mixing technique. The electric field jump due to an LP bistability has been found to precede the development of a stimulated parametric scattering of LPs. The latter has been found to develop with a delay of a few hundreds ps from the beginning of the excitation pulse. These results are in qualitative agreement with hard regime of excitation of the stimulated parametric LP scattering predicted recently.  相似文献
