Systems of orthogonal vectors are determined, providing an optimal (in the statistical sense) approximation of the vertical distributions of the molecular absorption coefficient at characteristic microwave wavelengths associated with atmospheric windows and the absorption resonances of O2 and H2O, as well as the distribution of the refractive index of the atmosphere in the range 1 mm. Phase-Doppler anemometry (PDA) is applied for particle size, velocity and concentration measurements in two-phase or multi-phase flows of ever increasing complexity. For accurate measurements the experimenter must be provided with software and hardware which permit an optimal layout of the PDA optics for a given application, reliable detection of signals over a wide particle diameter range, accurate determination of particle concentration and precise discrimination between particles of different composition. Recent work at LSTM, Erlangen, has been directed to developing a complete PDA package for the above purposes. Progress in this direction is summarized in this paper.  相似文献

Specimens of PbTe single film are deposited on Ge substrates by vacuum thermal evaporation.During the temperature range of 80–300 K,the transmittance of a PbTe film within 2–15μm is measured every 20 K by the Perkin Elmer Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy cryogenic testing system.Then,the relationship between the refractive index and wavelength within 7–12μm at different temperatures is received by the full spectrum inversion method fitting.It can be seen that the relationship conforms to the Cauchy formula,which can be fitted.Then,the relationship between the refractive index of the PbTe film and the temperature/wavelength can be expressed as n(λ,T)=5.82840-0.00304T+4.61458×10~(-6)T~2+8.00280∕λ~2+0.21544∕λ~4,which is obtained by the fitting method based on the Cauchy formula.Finally,the designed value obtained by the formula and the measured spectrum are compared to verify the accuracy of the formula.  相似文献

In this paper, the exact solution of Schrödinger equation for multi-layered quantum dot (MLQD) within the effective mass approximation and dielectric continuum model is obtained with finite and infinite confining potential (CP). The MLQD is a nano-structured semiconductor system that consists of a spherical core (GaAs) and a coated spherical shell (Ga $_{1-x}$ Al $_{x}$ As) as the whole dot is embedded inside a bulk material (Ga $_{1-y}$ Al $_{y}$ As). Using the obtained energies, wave functions and taking advantage of numeric calculations, the oscillator strength, refractive index and absorbtion coefficient change associated with intersubband electronic transition from the ground state to the first allowed excited state are investigated for different CPs (both finite and infinite) and shell thicknesses. The results show that all values of ground state energy for large core dot radius approach the same value (the energy of bulk material) independent of CPs and shell thicknesses. Also it is shown that the optical properties are strongly affected by the changes in CPs and shell thicknesses.  相似文献

The optical absorption coefficient changes and refractive index changes associated with intersubband transitions in a two-dimensional quantum pseudodot system under the influence of a uniform magnetic field are theoretically investigated. In this regard, the electronic structure of the pseudodot system is studied using the one-band effective mass theory, and by means of the compact density matrix approach linear and nonlinear optical absorption coefficient and refractive index changes are calculated. The effects of an external magnetic field and the geometrical size of the pseudodot system on the optical absorption coefficient and refractive index changes are investigated. It is found that the absorption coefficient and refractive index changes are strongly affected not only by an external magnetic field but also by the geometrical size of the pseudodot system.  相似文献

Optical absorption coefficients and refractive index changes associated with intersubband transition in typical GaAs/AlxGa1−xAs spherical quantum dots are theoretically investigated, both in the presence and in the absence of the conduction band non-parabolicity effect. In this regard, the effect of band non-parabolicity on the eigenvalues and eigenfunctions of the dot has been performed using the Luttinger-Kohn effective mass equation. Also, by means of the compact-density-matrix approach the linear and nonlinear optical absorption coefficients and refractive index changes have been calculated. The results show that magnitudes of these quantities are decreased and the peaks are shifted to the lower energies as the influence of band non-parabolicity is considered.  相似文献

使用不同声源利用矢量传声器对毛毡材料进行现场吸声系数测试,研究了不同背景下不同声源的抗噪能力。矢量传声器可以同时测得声压和质点振速信号,进而可计算得到阻抗,利用自由空间和材料表面的阻抗可计算得到材料的吸声系数。在此次实验中,使用不同声源分别在无干扰和有一白噪声干扰源的两种情况下进行测试。结果表明,使用对数扫频脉冲和巴特沃斯脉冲测试所得的吸声系数曲线更平滑,说明脉冲声可以有效降低环境反射的影响,在高噪声背景下使用对数扫频脉冲测试所得的结果基本没有受到背景噪声的影响,说明对数扫频脉冲的抗噪能力更强。因此,使用对数扫频脉冲作为声源进行测试可有效减弱环境反射和背景噪声的影响。  相似文献

We propose a technique for measuring the nonlinear refractive index of fiber based on transmission-coefficient measurements in a fiber Sagnac interferometer. In contrast with traditional methods, the proposed method uses a single optical source operating in cw mode and direct intensity measurement, enabling one to avoid the errors caused by fiber dispersion and uncertainty of spectral peak difference measurements that occur with pulse-based methods. The nonlinear refractive index in 20-mol. % GeO(2) fiber was measured to be (3.1 +/- 0.2) x 10(-16) cm(2) W(-1) at 1064 nm.  相似文献

We report an experimental method for high-precision refractive index measurement using a Michelson interferometer setup with a femtosecond optical frequency comb as the light source. We demonstrate this technique by measuring the refractive index of air, under different pressures, inside a 29 m multipass cell. Both spectral and temporal interferograms are recorded. The method has a sensitivity of 6.2 x 10(-9) and a standard error of 7.4 x 10(-8) at fixed parameters (pressure and temperature). The possible variation of the density factor from the Lorentz-Lorenz equation is also discussed.  相似文献

A new approach to the simultaneous measurement of refractive index and thickness based on the focus shifts of a convergent beam intercepted by a test plate is proposed. By using ray optics, a defined focus shift can be derived as a function of the refractive index and thickness as well as the angular position of the test plate with respect to the optical axis. From a pair of focus shifts obtained at two different angular positions, it is shown that the desired measurands can be simultaneously determined without prior knowledge of either parameter. A simulation result for the proposed concept based on graphically solving the equations of their respective focus shifts is presented.  相似文献

A simple method of determining the nonlinear refractive index coefficient n 2 of inert gases is demonstrated. It is based on the accumulation of optical-Kerr-induced spectral broadening effect in gas-filled hollow-core fibers. By using this method, the values of n 2 of argon and neon at 800 nm and argon at 1.8 μm are determined.  相似文献

We present the results of variable-angle spectroscopic ellipsometry and transmittance measurements to determine the variation of the complex refractive index of ion-implanted single-crystal diamond. An increase is found in both real and imaginary parts at increasing damage densities. The index depth variation is determined in the whole wavelength range between 250 and 1690 nm. The dependence from the vacancy density is evaluated, highlighting a deviation from linearity in the high-damage-density regime. A considerable increase (up to 5%) in the real part of the index is observed, attributed to an increase in polarizability, thus offering new microfabrication possibilities for waveguides and other photonic structures in diamond.  相似文献

Under strong laser illumination, few-layer graphene exhibits both a transmittance increase due to saturable absorption and a nonlinear phase shift. Here, we unambiguously distinguish these two nonlinear optical effects and identify both real and imaginary parts of the complex nonlinear refractive index of graphene. We show that graphene possesses a giant nonlinear refractive index n(2)?10(-7) cm(2) W(-1), almost 9 orders of magnitude larger than bulk dielectrics. We find that the nonlinear refractive index decreases with increasing excitation flux but slower than the absorption. This suggests that graphene may be a very promising nonlinear medium, paving the way for graphene-based nonlinear photonics.  相似文献

We resolve the existing controversy concerning the selection of the sign of the normal-to-the-interface component of the wave vector k(z) of an electromagnetic wave in an active (gain) medium. Our method exploits the fact that no ambiguity exists in the case of a film of the active medium, since its coefficient of reflectance is invariant under the inversion of the sign of k(z). Then we show that the limit of the infinite film thickness determines a unique and physically consistent choice of the wave vector and the refractive index. Important practical implications of the theory are identified and discussed.  相似文献

This study introduced the research and development of a portable and miniaturized system for the measurement of the refractive index of sub-microliter liquid based on a microfluidic chip. A technical method of double-beam interference, was proposed for use in the measurement. Based on this, by using a laser diode as a light source,changes in the refractive index were calculated by utilizing a complementary metal–oxide–semiconductor to detect the movement of interference fringes of the liquid. Firstly, this study simulated the effects of influencing factors on the interference infringes of two Gaussian beams, such as their spot sizes, distance between two beam spots, and detection range. Secondly, this research introduced the system design and construction of the doublebeam interference method and analyzed the results of refractive index tests on sub-microliter aqueous glucose solutions with different concentrations. The measurement accuracy reached 10~(-4) refractive index units. This system has a compact structure and is rendered portable by using batteries for its power supply. The entire system is designed to be a double Z-shaped structure with a length of about 15 cm, a width of 5 cm, and a height of about 10 cm. It can be used to measure changes in the refractive index of sub-microliter to nanoliter liquids based on the use of a microfluidic chip.  相似文献

In this paper, a practical method for obtaining the exact absorption coefficient of optical media was presented, which can be applied to amend the error attributed to multi-reflections. According to the materials' transmissivities and refractive indices, a formula was derived, which can be used for calculating the absorption coefficient. The feasible region with the relative error lower than 10% was represented by a mathematical expression. The calculated formula was confirmed to be applicable to optical materials with strong-absorbent (>0.1 cm?1), especially laser or Raman media. This study can provide a useful approach for getting exact absorption coefficients of new optical materials and other derivative parameters.  相似文献
