We answer two questions of Carrell on a singular complex projective variety admitting the multiplicative group action, one positively and the other negatively. The results are applied to Chow varieties and we obtain Chow groups of 0-cycles and Lawson homology groups of 1-cycles for Chow varieties. A brief survey on the structure of Chow varieties is included for comparison and completeness. Moreover, we give counterexamples to Shafarevich's problem on the rationality of the irreducible components of Chow varieties.  相似文献

Let Y ? ?N be a possibly singular projective variety, defined over the field of complex numbers. Let X be the intersection of Y with h general hypersurfaces of sufficiently large degrees. Let d > 0 be an integer, and assume that dimY = n + h and dimYsing ≤ min {d + h ? 1, n ? 1}. Let Z be an algebraic cycle on Y of dimension d + h, whose homology class in H2(d+h)(Y; ?) is nonzero. In the present article, we prove that the restriction of Z to X is not algebraically equivalent to zero. This is a generalization to the singular case of a result due to Nori in the case Y is smooth. As an application we provide explicit examples of singular varieties for which homological equivalence is different from the algebraic one.  相似文献

In this paper, we determine the general solution of the functional equation f1 (2x + y) + f2(2x - y) = f3(x + y) + f4(x - y) + f5(x) without assuming any regularity condition on the unknown functions f1,f2,f3, f4, f5 : R→R. The general solution of this equation is obtained by finding the general solution of the functional equations f(2x + y) + f(2x - y) = g(x + y) + g(x - y) + h(x) and f(2x + y) - f(2x - y) = g(x + y) - g(x - y). The method used for solving these functional equations is elementary but exploits an important result due to Hosszfi. The solution of this functional equation can also be determined in certain type of groups using two important results due to Szekelyhidi.  相似文献

We prove that for any monoid scheme M over a field with proper multiplication maps M×MM, we have a natural PD-structure on the ideal CH>0(M)⊂CH(M) with regard to the Pontryagin ring structure. Further we investigate to what extent it is possible to define a Fourier transform on the motive with integral coefficients of the Jacobian of a curve. For a hyperelliptic curve of genus g with sufficiently many k-rational Weierstrass points, we construct such an integral Fourier transform with all the usual properties up to N2-torsion, where N=1+⌊log2(3g)⌋. As a consequence we obtain, over , a PD-structure (for the intersection product) on N2a, where a⊂CH(J) is the augmentation ideal. We show that a factor 2 in the properties of an integral Fourier transform cannot be eliminated even for elliptic curves over an algebraically closed field.  相似文献

We are interested in the maximum possible number of facets that Dirichlet stereohedra for three-dimensional crystallographic groups can have. In two previous papers, D. Bochiş and the second author studied the problem for noncubic groups. This paper deals with “full” cubic groups, while “quarter” cubic groups are left for a subsequent paper. Here, “full” and “quarter” refers to the recent classification of three-dimensional crystallographic groups by Conway, Delgado-Friedrichs, Huson and Thurston. This paper’s main result is that Dirichlet stereohedra for any of the 27 full groups cannot have more than 25 facets. We also find stereohedra with 17 facets for one of these groups. We study Rickard equivalences between p-blocks of twisted group algebras and their local structure, in connection with Dade's conjectures. We prove that an extended form of Broué's conjecture implies Dade's Inductive Conjecture in the Abelian defect group case; this is a consequence of the fact that Rickard equivalences induced by complexes of graded bimodules preserve the relevant Clifford theoretical invariants. As an application, we show that these conjectures hold for p-extensions of blocks with cyclic defect groups.  相似文献

A holonomic mechanical system with k degrees of freedom is considered, its state being characterized by n k defining coordinates, p < k Poincaré parameters [1] and k - p Chetayev parameters [2]. A novel time-domain method for finding the periodic steady state of a free-running electrical oscillator is introduced. The method is based on the extrapolation technique MPE. The new method is applied to a family of artificial benchmark problems and to a real circuit (Colpitt’s oscillator). It turns out to have super-linearly convergence properties in both cases. The Poincaré series of the algebra of -invariants of m-tuples of 2×2 matrices is presented both as a rational function and as a series of Schur functions. We show that this algebra of invariants is generated by the determinants, the mixed discriminants and the discriminants of 2×2 matrices. Consequences on invariants of three-dimensional matrices of the shape 2×2×m are discussed. For arbitrary n2, we prove an explicit functional equation for the Poincaré series of the -invariants of m-tuples of n×n matrices.  相似文献

Zhang [1], we obtain the local version of a theorem of BGS [2] which links Faltings heights of projective varieties with the Philippon heights for the corresponding generalized Chow points. Cubic pencils of lines are classified up to projectivities. Explicit formulae for the addition of lines on the set of nonsingular lines of the pencils are given. These formulae can be used for constructing planar generalized principal lattices, which are sets of points giving rise to simple Lagrange formulae in bivariate interpolation. Special attention is paid to the irreducible nonsingular case, where elliptic functions are used in order to express the addition in a natural form.  相似文献
