A two-dimensional decoupling theory is developed when colored noise is included in a nonlinear dynamical system. By a functional analysis, the colored noise is transformed to an effective noise that includes the noise correlation time, the mean dynamical variable, and the original noise strength. When the two-dimensional decoupling theory is applied to single-mode and two-mode dye laser systems, the mean, variance, and effective eigenvalue of laser intensity are calculated. Excellent agreement between theoretical analysis, numerical simulations, and experimental measurements are obtained. It is seen that the increase of noise correlation time can reduce the fluctuations in the laser system. It is also shown that there is relatively large fluctuation in the phase when the laser undergoes from thermal light to coherent light when the theory is applied to a single mode dye laser. We present a scheme for stochastic quantum-state diffusion (QSD) with adaptive noise to calculate the time evolution of an arbitrary observable of an open system. The method is based on the fact that the observable is much less sensitive to adaptive noise than to noise with a random phase. Hence, the individual realisations of the expectation value of the observable stay closer to the average evolution and fewer realisations are required to obtain the ensemble average. This is illustrated by applying QSD to a driven two-level system using both randomly phased and adaptive noise. Applying QSD with adaptive noise to an undriven two-level system enables us to derive a deterministic Schr?dinger equation that produces the exact evolution of an arbitrary observable. We solve the superradiant laser model in two limiting cases. First the stationary low-pumping regime is considered where a first-order phase transition in the semiclassical solution occurs. This discontinuity is smeared out in the quantum regime. Second, we solve the model in the non-stationary regime where we find a temporally periodic solution. We present a simple method, based on the quantum regression theorem, to calculate the quantum correlation spectra for two optical beams in the linearized fluctuation regime. On the basis of the nondegenerate quantum-beat laser model, we introduce a coherent field which drives the transition between the upper lasing level and an auxiliary level. We demonstrate that such a four-level system can produce squeezed two-mode laser without and with inversion. When the laser is operated well above threshold, the intensity fluctuation in the average mode is reduced below the shot noise with an optimum Mandel parameter Q=- 1/2. At the same time, the noises in the relative amplitude and the relative phase drop to their vaccum noise levels. Furthermore, regardless of inversion, noninversion, and transition between inversion and noninversion, the optimum Mandel Q parameter of Q=- 1/2 is retained when the system operates well above threshold. A new scheme of the influence of quantum interference on the spontaneous emission in a coherently driven three-level medium is presented in this paper. The results are the same with that discussed by [S.-Y. Zhu, L.M. Narducci, M.O. Scully, Phys. Rev. Continuous measurement models are conveniently based on master equations specified by the respective Hamiltonian and appropriate environment operators. As demonstrated by stochastic unraveling, the latter specify the dynamical process rather than static detection modes. We show that certain environment operators acting on a simple system may, in fact, require extended networks for implementation: Their Hamilton parameters re-appear in the effective environment operators of the reduced model. The resulting quantum trajectories typically involve competing paths, which may give rise to different fluctuation and noise properties even when the corresponding ensemble behavior is practically the same. Thermal noise of a mirror can be reduced by cold damping. The displacement is measured with a high-finesse cavity and controlled with the radiation pressure of a modulated light beam. We establish the general quantum limits of noise in cold damping mechanisms and we show that the optomechanical system allows to reach these limits. Displacement noise can be arbitrarily reduced in a narrow frequency band. In a wide-band analysis we show that thermal fluctuations are reduced as with classical damping whereas quantum zero-point fluctuations are left unchanged. The combined effects of the pump noise suppression and injection locking technique on the intensity noise of a diode pumped Nd:YVO4 microchip laser are theoretically and experimentally investigated. Complete cancellation of the relaxation oscillation peak is experimentally achieved. Very good agreement between experimental results and theoretical predictions of a fully quantum model describing lasers with injected signal is found. We investigate the spontaneously generated coherence (SGC) in a Doppler broadened four-level atomic system driven by two coherent fields. We plot the spontaneous emission spectra with different parameters and discuss how the initial atomic conditions and parameters of both fields change the number of peaks and dark lines of spontaneous emission spectra. Furthermore, we also show how the spontaneous emission spectrum is modified by Doppler effects in the viewed direction. Our results have important references to the experimental observation of SGC in hot atomic vapors.  相似文献

The entanglement dynamics in a system of the interaction of an atom with a single-mode thermal field in the presence of noise is studied by the Jaynes-Cummings model. Two-state random phase telegraph noise is considered as the noise in the interaction and an exact solution to the model under this noise is obtained by the Burshtein equation. Although the Burshtein equation is applicable for laser-atom interactions, it is shown that it can be applied to atom-thermal field system as a special case. The solution is used to investigate the entanglement dynamics of the atom-field interaction by calculating a lower bound on concurrence. It is found that the entanglement is a non monotonic function of the intensity of the noise. The degree of the entanglement decreases to a minimum value for an optimal intensity of the noise and then increases for a sufficiently large intensity. Moreover, intense noise may generate stronger entanglement compared with the absence of noise.  相似文献

The pixel by pixel calibration of a scientific CCD camera allows Poissonian statistics of the spatial fluctuations of an uniform enlightening to be retrieved in the full range of the camera dynamic. The procedure works efficiently for thermal as well as for laser sources, provided that the wavelength and the coherence properties of the source are chosen in order to avoid the formation of equal thickness fringes in the chip (etaloning effect). Calibration allows also the comparison at the shot noise level of images recorded at different places on the chip. By generalizing recently obtained results we calculate the excess noise factor (Petermann factor) for a laser system with non-orthogonal eigenmodes. The quantum consistency of the calculation is shown through the explicit conservation of input-output commutation rules. As a result of the calculation, the excess noise in the lasing mode is shown to depend on the laser gain below threshold, and on the noise analysis frequency below and above threshold. In this paper, we investigate several properties of the full signal-idler-pump mode quantum state generated by a triply resonant non-degenerate Optical Parametric Oscillator operating above threshold, with an injected wave on the signal and idler modes in order to lock the phase diffusion process. We determine and discuss the spectral purity of this state, which turns out not to be always equal to 1 even though the three interacting modes have been taken into account at the quantum level. We have seen that the purity is essentially dependent on the weak intensity of the injected light and on an asymmetry of the synchronization. We then derive the expression of its total three-mode Glauber P-function, and calculate the joint signal-idler photon number probability distribution and investigate their dependence on the injection.  相似文献

The spontaneous emission of an excited atom is analyzed by quantum stochastic trajectory approach without both rotating-wave approximation and Markovian approximation. The atom finite size effect is also taken into account. We show by an example that the correction due to the counter-rotating wave term is rather small, even for the largest atomic number of real nuclei. We present a novel scheme to separate spatially twin beams generated by a type-I lithium niobate (LNB) optical parametric oscillator near frequency degeneracy. The system is based on a holographic diffraction grating acting as a beam splitter in a balanced detector. The fast and easy temperature tuning of LNB index of refraction allows an easy control of the twin-beam wavelength distance in a range of the order of ∼100 nm. We report correlation spectra measured for different twin-beam wavelength separations (15–60 nm) with a maximum noise reduction of 3.2 dB at 3.5 MHz. The described system exhibited a pump resonance stability longer than 6 h with infrared output power fluctuations within 4% around an average value of ≃2 mW in each beam. A theoretical analysis of the spectral linewidth of V-type inversionless and Raman lasers is presented. First, we examine the effects of the atomic coherence between dressed states and the Autler-Townes splitting on the linewidth. It is demonstrated that near above threshold, the V inversionless laser has a narrower linewidth than that of the two-level laser. Instead of the dressed coherence, it is the Autler-Townes splitting that is responsible for the linewidth reduction though the dressed coherence determines the laser gain. Next, we explore the effects of the generated laser intensity on the linewidth. It is shown that the linewidths of the V inversionless and Raman lasers follow the usual 1/I decrease for smaller laser intensity I, but a slower decrease than 1/I for larger laser intensity. For the V Raman laser, even more surprisingly, with the laser intensity increasing, the linewidth appreciably increases as well. As a result, well above threshold, the V inversionless and Raman lasers may have a larger linewidth than that of the two-level laser. Finally, a comparison is made between the V lasers and the Λ lasers. It is found that the linewidth of the Λ inversionless laser shows a fast 1/I 2 decay under optimum conditions. The theoretical analysis of the noise property is presented in a correlated imaging system. For both entangled source produced by parametric down-conversion (PDC) and classically light source, a small aperture of the imaging system makes the noise increase slightly and the resolution of the imaging signal degrade. We also show that, in PDC case, the noise is strongly influenced by the source size because of the existence of the entanglement, while the effect is not obvious in the thermal case.  相似文献

The time and frequency features of the fluctuations are studied for a pulsed squeezed state field generated by train of pulses produced by a mode-locked laser via degenerated four wave mixing. We propose an improved balanced homodyne detection scheme, which can be used to measure simultaneously the time variation and the frequency spectrum of the noise of in one quadrature component of the pulsed squeezed state field. The explicit expressions for the intensity and the noise as functions of time and frequency are derived. The features of the intensity and noise spectra are discussed. It is shown that the variation of noise with time exhibits a pulse train with reduced noise and the frequency spectrum of the noise displays some very interesting properties.  相似文献

We study the properties of the spatial fluctuations in the far-field parametric fluorescence output of a type 1 degenerate traveling-wave parametric amplifier. Results of a semi-classical simulation are compared with experiments in a LBO crystal.
