We show how we can linearize individual probabilistic linear constraints with binary variables when all coefficients are independently distributed according to either N(μi,λμi), for some λ>0 and μi>0, or Γ(ki,θ) for some θ>0 and ki>0. A subsidiary of Air Canada will be operating an experimental STOL (Short Take-Off and Landing) service between Montreal and Ottawa from downtown airports. A model was developed to forecast traffic and evaluate marketing strategies for the proposed service. Traditional forecasting methods relying on historical data are of little use as STOL will offer a level of service outside the range of existing experience. The model therefore uses attitudinal data on such things as comfort in conjunction with data on more concrete variables such as price. The data came from a market research survey. 相似文献

An atomic decomposition is proved for Banach spaces which satisfy some affine geometric axioms compatible with notions from the quantum mechanical measuring process. space of the unit disk). For automorphic composition operators we show that the quotient of the Toeplitz-composition algebra
by the compacts is isomorphic to the crossed product C*-algebra for the action of the symbol on the boundary circle. Using this result we obtain sufficient conditions for polynomial
elements of the algebra to be Fredholm, by analyzing the spectrum of elements of the crossed product. We also obtain an integral
formula for the Fredholm index in terms of a generalized Chern character. Finally we prove an index formula for the case of

We consider unsteady flows of incompressible viscoelastic Maxwell medium with upper, low, and Jaumann convective derivatives in the rheological constitutive law. We give characteristics of a system of equations that describe a three-dimensional motion of such a medium for all three types of convective derivative. In the general case, due to the incompressibility condition, the equations of motion have both real and complex characteristics. We study group properties of this system in the two-dimensional case. On this basis, we choose submodels of the Maxwell model that can be reduced to hyperbolic ones. The properties of the hyperbolic submodels obtained depend on the choice of the invariant derivative in the rheological relation. We also present concrete examples of invariant solutions. 相似文献

In this paper we use the real differential geometric definition of a metric (a unimodular oriented metric) tt*-bundle of Cortés and the author (Topological-anti-topological fusion equations, pluriharmonic maps and special Kähler manifolds) to define a map Φ from the space of metric (unimodular oriented metric) tt*-bundles of rank r over a complex manifold M to the space of pluriharmonic maps from M to {GL}(r)/O(p,q) (respectively {SL}(r)/SO(p,q)), where (p,q) is the signature of the metric. In the sequel the image of the map Φ is characterized. It follows, that in signature (r,0) the image of Φ is the whole space of pluriharmonic maps. This generalizes a result of Dubrovin (Comm. Math. For linear processes with independent identically distributed innovations that are regularly varying with tail index α ∈ (0, 2), we study the functional convergence of the joint partial-sum and partial-maxima processes. We derive a functional limit theorem under certain assumptions on the coefficients of the linear processes, which enable the functional convergence in the space of ?2-valued càdlàg functions on [0, 1] with the Skorokhod weak M2 topology.We also obtain a joint convergence in the M2 topology on the first coordinate and in theM1 topology on the second coordinate. 相似文献

Consider the full modular group PSL2(?) with presentation 〈U,?S|U 3,?S 2〉. Motivated by our investigations on quasi-modular forms and the Minkowski question mark function (so that this paper may be considered as a necessary appendix), we are led to the following natural question. Some words in the alphabet {U, S} are equal to the unity; for example, USU 3 SU 2 is such a word of length 8, and USU 3 SUSU 3 S 3 U is such a word of length 15. We consider the following integer sequence. For each n ∈ ?0, let t(n) be the number of words in the alphabet {U, S} that equal the identity in the group. This is the new entry A265434 into the Online Encyclopedia of Integer Sequences. We investigate the generating function of this sequence and prove that it is an algebraic function over ?(x) of degree 3. As an interesting generalization, we formulate the problem of describing all algebraic functions with a Fermat property. 相似文献

We present a two-point impulsive boundary value problem on the half-line with infinite impulsive effects on the unknown function and its derivative given by generalized functions.In this way, this problem can be applied to phenomena where the occurrence of infinite jumps depends not only on the instant, but also on their amplitude and frequency. The arguments apply Green’s functions and Schauder’s fixed-point theorem. The concept of equiconvergence at +∞ and at each impulsive moment is a key point to have a compact operator. 相似文献

A probabilistic constrained stochastic linear programming problem is considered, where the rows of the random technology matrix are independent and normally distributed. The quasi-concavity of the constraining function needed for the convexity of the problem is ensured if the factors of the function are uniformly quasi-concave. A necessary and sufficient condition is given for that property to hold. It is also shown, through numerical examples, that such a special problem still has practical application in optimal portfolio construction. 相似文献
