The rapid progress of modern manufacturing and inspection technologies has posed stringent requirements on optical techniques for vibration characterization and dynamic testing. Due to its simplicity, accuracy and whole-field characters, laser speckle interferometry has served as one of the major techniques for dynamic measurement. In this paper, a two-step phase shifting method is developed for quantitative speckle phase measurement, which helps to eliminate the specklegrams needed for phase evaluation and facilitate dynamic measurement. Unlike previously reported two-step methods using fringe patterns with known phase shift of π/2, a small unknown phase shift is employed instead in the proposed method, which eliminates the need for phase shifting devices. Further investigation shows that small phase shifts are preferable over large phase shifts in this method. Shearographic experiments conducted have demonstrated the effectiveness of the proposed technique.  相似文献

Time-averaged laser speckle correlation is used for flexural vibration-studies. The proposed method employs a diverging laser beam to illuminate the test object and records the object image at a defocused plane with a CCD camera. The speckle correlation coefficient is a function of the out-of-plane tilt of the object. The time-averaged speckle pattern recorded with the object vibrating at a natural mode is subtracted from the one recorded in a static condition. The anti-nodes of the vibrating object can then be identified easily on the subtracted image. A brief analysis of the technique and some experimental results on a cantilever beam and a vibrating plate are presented.  相似文献

An optical fibre based, speckle shearing interferometer is described. The instrument uses a highly birefringent optical fibre to illuminate a test object with equal intensities of light guided by the orthogonal polarisation eigenstates of the fibre. A Wollaston prism is used to obtain two sheared images with adjustable shear. Optical phase changes between the sheared images are readily achieved, without mechanical movement of components, by straining the optical fibre. Object strain determination, by fringe analysis with phase stepping techniques, is readily achieved. Vibration analysis by heterodyning is also reported.  相似文献

It has been customarily assumed that the smallest measurable displacement by one beam speckle interferometry is equal to the smallest speckle size (σ = 1.22 λF) as resolved by the recording camera. In this paper it is shown both analytically and experimentally that the smallest measurable displacement is smaller than the speckle size as it is usually defined.  相似文献

The use of electronic speckle pattern interferometry as a non-destructive testing technique has been widely reported for measuring a variety of objects. When used for vibration mode analysis, the only information presented to the operator was at the nodal area. The instrument has been developed so that, with the use of a microcomputer, the operator can now produce an isometric view of an object vibrating in a resonant mode, making the results easier to interpret. The instrument provides a real-time, non-contact alternative to other mode analysis equipment and can detect high-order modes as easily as low-order modes.  相似文献

Existing modal analysis techniques based on pointwise methods such as accelerometers and laser vibrometers, suffer from the compromises required to infer whole field vibration behaviour from a predetermined number of discrete measurement data points. The measurement grid is normally chosen before the most sensitive areas of the test piece have been identified and this can lead to a requirement for further grid refinement, with the consequent spatial and temporal disadvantages. Whole-field modal analysis using electronic speckle pattern interferometry (ESPI) has been developed, and focuses on the manipulation of optical information to provide a grid of data points which is transferred to a modal analysis software package for comparison with traditional point wise modal data sets. The advantages of obtaining the initial whole-field vibration picture in real time and subsequently overlaying a chosen measurement data grid, are demonstrated. Modal analysis of a steel plate is presented, which demonstrates single displacement vector measurements. Data is transferred into modal analysis software allowing ESPI mode shape information to be directly compared with measurements using other pointwise techniques and finite element analysis (FEA), through a modal assurance criterion (MAC) calculation. Further results are presented for multiple displacement vector analysis of high-power ultrasonic components, demonstrating the ability to accurately measure the modal characteristics of complex dynamic components.  相似文献

It is shown how it should be possible, under arbitrary seeing conditions, to image star clusters, whose apparent angular extension is less than the seeing disc, by combining Labeyrie's original speckle interferometry and the extension of it due to Lynds, Worden and Harvey together with Patterson analysis as developed by X-ray crystallographers. An encouraging simulation in an optical laboratory is reported. We discuss a further experimental result which suggest that our idea could be used with an array of telescopes whose focal fields are combined coherently.  相似文献

A method is proposed for direct optical comparison of the three-dimensional shapes of objects by light-in-flight speckle holography. The basic idea of this technique is to use an ultrashort laser pulse with a short coherence length to produce interference patterns that present a single contouring of the object. A simple experiment using plane diffuse objects was performed to verify the method.  相似文献

Electronic speckle interferometry (ESPI) is used to determine the Young's modulus E and Poisson ratio ν of an isotropic material. Micron scale deformations of the surface of the block of polymethyl-methacrylate (PMMA) are induced by normal application of a known near-point force. These deformations are recorded in speckle interferometric fringe patterns. An iterative minimum error inversion technique is developed to obtain the elastic properties from the positions of fringe peaks and troughs observed in the fringe patterns. Sensitivity tests of the method on calculated fringe patterns using measured experimental uncertainties suggest the technique will provide measures of the elastic moduli to better than 5%. In an experimental test on a bloc of PMMA (acrylic) the technique gave values of E and ν that differed from corresponding measures obtained using more conventional strain-gauge methods by less than 4%.  相似文献

The analysis of in-plane rigid-body rotations requires phase-shifting methods to determine the direction of rotation in conventional electronic speckle pattern interferometry (ESPI). The phase-shifting procedure makes the real-time measurements impossible. A quasi-real-time method is published recently, where the usual symmetric illumination is combined with a wavelength change before the second exposure. The present paper proposes a device sparing an alternative to this. The symmetric illumination is retained but the wavelength change is replaced by simple illumination direction changes.  相似文献

We show that speckle averaging in deformation analysis using video speckle interferometry increases the signal to noise ratio and improves the resolution in the resulting image. Speckle averaging in deformation analysis normally demands a very high degree of stability and repeatibility. Averaging phase gradient maps reduces these demands considerably. Experimentally, deformation details down to 2 × 2 pixels in the averaged pictures have been resolved.  相似文献

In this paper, the time sequence phase method (TSPM) has been applied to measure the displacement caused by low-frequency vibration in temporal speckle pattern interferometry (TSPI). The principle is that by capturing the temporal speckle patterns related to the object vibration, the whole-field displacement responses (amplitude and phase) of the vibrating object can be calculated through scanning these fluctuations. Thus, quantitative measurement can be carried out using a conventional ESPI system without a camera synchronized to the object vibration or a phase shifting system. The elaboration on the method is given and experimental results are presented.  相似文献

A new speckle carrier technique is presented, which can solve the problem in one-beam laser speckle interferometry, that the direction of the displacement vector is ambiguously determined when the point-wise method is used. The method is very easy and convenient and the results are good. Some discussion about the relationship between the carrier frequency and the displacements is given.  相似文献

A simple method (speckle masking) for the reconstruction of real images from astronomical speckle photographs is described. This method is applicable to a restricted class of objects that includes double stars. Double stars are the object most frequently observed with speckle interferometry techniques. Certain other kinds of objects can also be investigated by the speckle masking method, which should work also at low light levels. Theory and laboratory experiments are presented.  相似文献

A new method for the visualization of flowing liquids is suggested. The method makes it possible to obtain images of dynamic objects located in an inhomogeneous medium. The main requirement for the realization of this method is the stability of the field during two successive measurements. The dimensions of the irradiating beam depend on the value of the spatial correlation interval characterizing the inhomogeneities of the medium, while the amplitude distribution in the beam can be arbitrary. A numerical modeling of the method is performed, and images of the models of blood vessels lying under an inhomogeneous layer are presented.  相似文献

Two measurements performed on rough surfaced objects are described in this paper. The first sample is a mechanical component with a rather difficult accessible surface to be measured. A two-wavelength krypton laser interferometer with an effective wavelength of 36.47 μm has been used. The second example is a convex surface of a ground lens. Here a mode hopping diode laser interferometer with an effective wavelength of 2·020 mm has been used.  相似文献

A variation of electronic speckle pattern interferometry (ESPI) is presented whereby phase fringes are produced in contrast to speckle correlation fringes. Digital phase stepping speckle interferometry uses a phase measurement technique developed for holographic interferometry, which involves phase shifting of the reference beam in a conventional speckle interferometer. Saw-tooth phase fringes are produced by subtracting the phases of the speckle fields before and after object deformation in a digital frame store. This enables the sign of the deformation to be distinguished. After application of a special low-pass digital filter, the phase fringes are of adequate quality to be counted automatically.  相似文献
