Dynamical localization is a localization phenomenon taking place, for example, in the quantum periodically driven kicked rotor. It is due to subtle quantum destructive interferences and is thus of intrinsic quantum origin. It has been shown that deviation from strict periodicity in the driving rapidly destroys dynamical localization. We report experimental results showing that this destruction is partially reversible when the deterministic perturbation that destroyed it is slowly reversed. We also provide an explanation for the partial character of the reversibility.  相似文献

We introduce a technique of simulating the destruction of mesoscopic conductance fluctuations phenomenologically within the nonlinear -formalism. A similar approach has already been applied within diagrammatic models. Dephasing is generated by adding a second random potential to the Hamilton operator which differs from the potential describing the metallic disorder only in its statistical properties. For that reason, the approach cannot serve to describe physical effects relying on dynamic aspects of dephasing interactions (e.g. the destruction of weak localization effects). The technique is introduced within the framework of a scattering-theoretical model of mesoscopic systems.  相似文献

We consider a non-linear perturbation of a symmetric double-well potential as a model for molecular localization. In the semiclassical limit, we prove the existence of a critical value of the perturbation parameter giving the destruction of the beating effect. This value is twice the one corresponding to the first bifurcation of the fundamental state. Here we make use of a particular projection operator introduced by G. Here we consider a two level system driven by an external harmonic field whose amplitude is perturbed by a white noise term. In the limit of small splitting, dynamical localization, i.e. coherent destruction of tunneling, is proved for times of the order of 1/ε, where ε is the two-level splitting. The same type of localization is proved if the driving field is simply the white noise.  相似文献

The destruction of quasi-long-range crystalline order as a consequence of strong disorder effects is shown to accompany the strict localization of all classical plasma modes of one-dimensional Wigner crystals at T=0. We construct a phase diagram that relates the structural phase properties of Wigner crystals to a plasmon delocalization transition recently reported. Deep inside the strictly localized phase of the strong disorder regime, we observe glasslike behavior. However, well into the critical phase with a plasmon mobility edge, the system retains its crystalline composition. We predict that a transition between the two phases occurs at a critical value of the relative disorder strength. This transition has an experimental signature in the ac conductivity as a local maximum of the largest spectral amplitude as a function of the relative disorder strength.  相似文献

The mechanisms of the occurrence of self-induced and selective transparencies of semiconductor superlattices in a strong time-dependent electric field are investigated. The association of these mechanisms with Bloch oscillations, dynamical localization, and collapse of electron quasi-energy minibands is analyzed, and a comparison with the properties of Josephson junctions is made. It is shown that the self-induced transparency is due to the fact that the current-contributing component of the electron distribution function is destroyed by collisions at discrete values of the amplitude of the time-harmonic field, while the selective transparency is associated with the nonmonotonic dependence of the spectrum of nonlinear electron oscillations in the electric field on the amplitude of the field. The dynamical localization and collapse of quasi-energy minibands lead to the field energy dissipation and are favorable to destruction of the transparency states of the superlattice.  相似文献

We present data on the electrical transport properties of highly-doped silicon-on-insulator quantum dots under the effect of pulsed magnetic fields up to 48 T. At low field intensities, B < 7 T, we observe a strong modification of the conductance due to the destruction of weak localization whereas at higher fields, where the magnetic field length becomes comparable to the effective Bohr radius of phosphorous in silicon, a strong decrease in conductance is demonstrated. Data in the high and low electric field bias regimes are then compared to show that close to the Coulomb blockade edge magnetically-induced quenching to single donors in the quantum dot is achieved at about 40 T.  相似文献

Engineered photonic waveguides have provided in the past decade an extremely rich laboratory tool to visualize with optical waves the classic analogues of a wide variety of coherent quantum phenomena encountered in atomic, molecular or condensed‐matter physics. As compared to quantum systems, optics offers the rather unique advantage of a direct mapping of the wave function evolution in coordinate space by simple fluorescence imaging or scanning tunneling optical microscopy techniques. In this contribution recent theoretical and experimental advances in the field of quantum‐optical analogies are reviewed. Special attention is devoted to some relevant optical analogies based on the use of curved photonic structures, including: coherent destruction of tunneling in driven bistable potentials; coherent population transfer and adiabatic passage in laser‐driven multilevel atomic systems; quantum decay control and Zeno dynamics; electronic Bloch oscillations and Zener tunneling, Anderson localization and dynamic localization in crystalline potentials.  相似文献

The propagation of Davydov's soliton in the molecular chain with an impurity has been investigated. The numerical analysis demonstrates that the presence of the impurity leads to the decreasing of the soliton velocity, as well as to the localization (pinning) of the excitation in a region of space close to the impurity or even to the reflection or destruction of the soliton. The analytical results which demonstrate that the influence of the impurity is equivalent to the existence of some localized external inhomogeneous field or friction force have been obtained also.  相似文献

Spatio-temporal localization of deformation and the rupture of the aluminum-magnesium AlMg6 alloy, initiated by a geometrical stress concentrator, are studied in situ by video recording at a speed of 500 to 20000 frames/s. It is established that a stress concentrator in the form of a small notch with a depth about 1% of the width of a flat specimen is an attractor of bands of macrolocalized plastic deformation, starting from a Lüders band and ending with the start of the main crack. The key role of intersecting deformation macrobands in the development of the main crack is revealed. Possible micromechanisms of viscous destruction associated with the dynamics of the intersection of deformation bands are discussed.  相似文献

Effects of shock wave interaction and the related phenomena of the localization of plastic deformation, destruction, and mass transfer in metal ball samples subjected to explosive loading at pressures of 36 to 150 GPa are studied. A correlation between the macro- and microstructural changes and the geometrical conditions of loading according to various schemes is found. It is shown that the mass transfer effects are of hydrodynamic origin. The depth penetration of the material was 3.2 mm in narrow channels and 0.3 mm in solid material.  相似文献

We investigated the influence of edges and corners on the Anderson localization of light in disordered two-dimensional photonic lattices that are optically induced in nonlinear saturable photorefractive media. A systematic quantitative study of gradual transition from corner to bulk Anderson localization in truncated two-dimensional photonic lattices was carried out. We analyzed numerically the localization at several corners and edges of the square and triangular photonic lattices and compared them with the localization in bulk medium. We found that, for strong disorder, corners and edges effectively suppress Anderson localization, as compared to the bulk, but to a varying degree.  相似文献

This paper studies the constraint conditions for coherence destruction in tunneling by using perturbation theory and numerical simulation for an AC-field with bias and Coulomb interaction between electrons in a quantum dot molecule. Such conditions can be described by using the roots of a Bessel function Jn(x), where n is determined by both the bias and the Coulomb interactions, and x is the ratio of the amplitude to the frequency of the AC-field. Under such conditions, a coherent suppression of tunneling occurs between localized electronic states, which results from the dynamical localization phenomenon. All the conditions are verified with numerical simulations.  相似文献

We present the results of preliminary experiments at laser facilities in which the processes of the undeniable destruction of stony asteroids (chondrites) in space by nuclear explosions on the asteroid surface are simulated based on the principle of physical similarity. We present the results of comparative gasdynamic computations of a model nuclear explosion on the surface of a large asteroid and computations of the impact of a laser pulse on a miniature asteroid simulator confirming the similarity of the key processes in the fullscale and model cases. The technology of fabricating miniature mockups with mechanical properties close to those of stony asteroids is described. For mini-mockups 4–10 mm in size differing by the shape and impact conditions, we have made an experimental estimate of the energy threshold for the undeniable destruction of a mockup and investigated the parameters of its fragmentation at a laser energy up to 500 J. The results obtained confirm the possibility of an experimental determination of the criteria for the destruction of asteroids of various types by a nuclear explosion in laser experiments. We show that the undeniable destruction of a large asteroid is possible at attainable nuclear explosion energies on its surface.  相似文献

We introduce a general framework for studying the localization of classical waves in inhomogeneous media, which encompasses acoustic waves with position dependent compressibility and mass density, elastic waves with position dependent Lamé moduli and mass density, and electromagnetic waves with position dependent magnetic permeability and dielectric constant. We also allow for anisotropy. We develop mathematical methods to study wave localization in inhomogeneous media. We show localization for local perturbations (defects) of media with a spectral gap, and study midgap eigenmodes.  相似文献

We propose a new protocol of implementing continuous-variable quantum state transfer using partially disembodied transport. This protocol may improve the fidelity at the expense of the introduction of a semiquantum channel between the parties, in comparison with quantum teleportation using the same strength of entanglement. Depending on the amount of information destroyed in the measurement, this protocol may be regarded as a teleportation protocol (complete destruction of input state), or as a cloning protocol (partial destruction), or as a direct transmission (no destruction). This scheme can be straightforwardly implemented with a setup that is at present experimentally accessible.  相似文献

We numerically investigate the localization of Bose Einstein condensate (BEC) with spin orbit coupling in a two dimensional bichromatic optical lattice. We study localization in weakly interacting and non-interacting regimes. The existence of stationary localized states in the presence of spin–orbit and Rabi couplings has been confirmed. We find that spin orbit coupling favors localization, whereas Rabi coupling has a slight delocalization effect.  相似文献

We study the influence of nonlinearity on wave localization in one-dimensional random media. Using a discrete nonlinear Schrödinger equation with a random on-site energy term, we calculate the localization length in a numerically exact manner. Unlike in many previous works, we fix the intensity of the incident wave and calculate quantities as a function of other parameters. We find that localization is enhanced due to nonlinearity for the focusing and defocusing nonlinearities. For small nonlinearity, the localization length is a decreasing function of nonlinearity. For sufficiently large nonlinearity, however, the localization length is found to approach a saturation value.  相似文献

A mass function of small-scale dark matter clumps is calculated. We take into account the tidal destruction of clumps at early stages of structure formation starting from a time of clump detachment from the Universe expansion. Only a small fraction of these clumps, ∼0.1%, in each logarithmic mass interval Δ log M ∼ 1 survives the stage of hierarchical clustering. We calculate the probability of surviving of the remnants of dark matter clumps in the Galaxy by modelling the tidal destruction of the small-scale clumps by disk and stars. It is demonstrated that a substantial fraction of clump remnants may survive through the tidal destruction during the lifetime of the Galaxy if a radius of core is rather small. The resulting mass spectrum of survived clumps is extended down to the mass of the core of the cosmologically produced clumps with a minimal mass. The survived dense remnants of tidally destructed clumps provides a large contribution to the annihilation signal in the Galaxy. We describe the anisotropy of dark matter clump distribution caused by tidal destruction of clumps in the Galactic disk. A corresponding annihilation of dark matter particles in small-scale clumps produces the anisotropic gamma-ray signal with respect to the Galactic disk.  相似文献

We consider decay of metastable topological configurations such as strings and domain walls. The transition from a state with higher energy density to a state with lower one proceeds through quantum tunneling or through thermally catalyzed quantum tunneling (at sufficiently small temperatures). The transition rate is calculated at zero temperature including the preexponential factor and also at a finite low temperature. The thermal enhancement factor is closely related to the probability (effective length) of destruction of the string (the domain wall) in collisions of the Goldstone bosons, corresponding to transverse waves on the string (wall). We derive a general formula which allows to find the probability (effective length) of a string (wall) breakup by a collision of arbitrary number of the bosons. We find that the destruction of a string only takes place in collisions of even number of the bosons, while the destruction of the wall can occur in a collision of any number of particles. We explicitly calculate the energy dependence of such processes in two-particle collisions for arbitrary relation between the energy and the largest infrared scale (the size of a critical gap).  相似文献
