This paper is devoted to initial boundary value problems for quasi-linear symmetric hyperbolic systems in a domain with characteristic boundary. It extends the theory on linear symmetric hyperbolic systems established by Friedrichs to the nonlinear case. The concept on regular characteristics and dissipative boundary conditions are given for quasilinear hyperbolic systems. Under some assumptions, an existence theorem for such initial boundary value problems is obtained. This paper is concerned with oscillatory behavior of a class of second-order delay dynamic equations on a time scale. The aim of this paper is to investigate Green's function for parabolic and elliptic systems satisfying a possibly nonlocal Robin-type boundary condition. We construct Green's function for parabolic systems with time-dependent coefficients satisfying a possibly nonlocal Robin-type boundary condition assuming that weak solutions of the system are locally Hölder continuous in the interior of the domain, and as a corollary we construct Green's function for elliptic system with a Robin-type condition. Also, we obtain Gaussian bound for Robin Green's function under an additional assumption that weak solutions of Robin problem are locally bounded up to the boundary. We provide some examples satisfying such a local boundedness property, and thus have Gaussian bounds for their Green's functions.  相似文献

In this paper, we give a nonoscillation criterion for half-linear equations with periodic coefficients under fixed moments of impulse actions. The method is based on the existence of positive solutions of the related Riccati equation and a recently obtained comparison principle. Under consideration is a mixed problem in the half-strip Π = {(x, t): 0 < x < 1, t > 0} for a first order homogeneous linear hyperbolic system with delay in t in the boundary conditions. We study the behavior of the Laplace transform of a solution to this problem for the large values of the complex parameter. This paper is devoted to impulsive periodic Gause-type predator-prey systems with monotonic or non-monotonic numerical responses. With the help of a continuation theorem based on coincidence degree theory, we establish easily verifiable criteria for the existence of positive periodic solutions. In this paper, by means of a constructive method based on the existence and uniqueness of the semi-global C2 solution, we establish the local exact boundary observability for a kind of second order quasilinear hyperbolic systems. As an application, we obtain the one-sided local exact boundary observability for a kind of first order quasilinear hyperbolic systems of diagonal form with boundary conditions in which the diagonal variables corresponding to the positive eigenvalues and those corresponding to the negative eigenvalues are decoupled.  相似文献

This paper discusses the semidiscrete finite element method for nonlinear hyperbolic equations with nonlinear boundary condition. The superclose property is derived through interpolation instead of the nonlinear H^1 projection and integral identity technique. We give a counterexample to the long standing conjecture that the ball maximises the first eigenvalue of the Robin eigenvalue problem with negative parameter among domains of the same volume. Furthermore, we show that the conjecture holds in two dimensions provided that the boundary parameter is small. This is the first known example within the class of isoperimetric spectral problems for the first eigenvalue of the Laplacian where the ball is not an optimiser.  相似文献
