This paper proposes the application of a principal components proportional hazards regression model in condition-based maintenance (CBM) optimization. The Cox proportional hazards model with time-dependent covariates is considered. Principal component analysis (PCA) can be applied to covariates (measurements) to reduce the number of variables included in the model, as well as to eliminate possible collinearity between the covariates. The main issues and problems in using the proposed methodology are discussed. PCA is applied to a simulated CBM data set and two real data sets obtained from industry: oil analysis data and vibration data. Reasonable results are obtained.  相似文献

Condition-based maintenance (CBM) aims to reduce maintenance cost and improve equipment reliability by effectively utilizing condition monitoring and prediction information. It is observed that the prediction accuracy often improves with the increase of the age of the component. In this research, we develop a method to quantify the remaining life prediction uncertainty considering the prediction accuracy improvement, and an effective CBM optimization approach to optimize the maintenance schedule. Any type of prognostics methods can be used, including data-driven methods, model-based methods and integrated methods, as long as the prediction method can produce the predicted failure time distribution at any given inspection point. Furthermore, we develop a numerical method to accurately and efficiently evaluate the cost of the CBM policy. The proposed approach is demonstrated using vibration monitoring data collected from pump bearings in the field as well as simulated degradation data. The proposed policy is compared with two benchmark maintenance policies and is found to be more effective.  相似文献

A condition-based maintenance (CBM) strategy is now recognized as an efficient approach to perform maintenance at the best time before failures so as to save lifetime cycle cost. For continuous degradation processes, a significant source of variability lies in measurement errors caused by imperfect inspections, and this may lead to “false positive” or “false negative” observations, and consequently to inopportune maintenance decisions. To the best of our knowledge, researches on CBM optimization with imperfect inspections remain limited for continuous degradation processes, even though the subject is of practical interest for the implementation of a CBM policy. Imperfect inspections are indeed imperfect but still return interesting information on the system degradation level, and making them perfect can be expensive. Therefore, we analyze the economic performance of a maintenance policy with imperfect inspections, and compare it with the classical policy with perfect inspections to see which policy offers the best benefit in a given situation. Furthermore, a CBM policy with a two-stage inspection scheme is proposed to take benefit of mixing both perfect and imperfect inspections in the same maintenance policy. Through numerical experiments and a real case study, it is shown that the policy with imperfect inspections can be better than the classical one, and that the proposed policy with a two-stage inspection scheme always leads to the minimum long run maintenance cost rate.  相似文献

This paper describes a case study in which the Weibull proportional-hazards model is used to determine the optimal replacement policy for a critical item which is subject to vibration monitoring. Such an approach has been used to date in the context of monitoring through oil debris analysis, and this approach is extended in this paper to the vibration monitoring context. The Weibull proportional-hazards model is reviewed along with the software EXAKT used for optimization. In particular the case considers condition-based maintenance for circulating pumps in a coal wash plant that is part of the SASOL petrochemical company. The condition-based maintenance policy recommended in this study is based on histories collected over a period of 2 years, and is compared with current practice. The policy is validated using data that arose from subsequent operation of the plant.  相似文献

Condition-based maintenance (CBM) is very appealing becauseit enables one to make maintenance decisions based on the currentinformation about the system. Various monitoring techniqueshave been developed to obtain this information, but there arestill very few mathematical models capable of utilizing it foreffective maintenance decision making. In this paper, we propose a CBM model for situations where onlypartial information is available through monitoring a signalprocess that does not necessarily exhibit monotone behaviour.The evolution of the signal process is determined by randomfactors and minor maintenance actions between inspections. Theobjective is to find the replacement policy that maximizes thetotal expected profit during the lifetime of the system. Wewill show that, under weak monotonicity assumptions, the optimalpolicy is of a control-limit type, and we will develop an algorithmfor finding the limit for an -optimal policy.  相似文献

A hierarchical model is developed for the joint mortality analysis of pension scheme datasets. The proposed model allows for a rigorous statistical treatment of missing data. While our approach works for any missing data pattern, we are particularly interested in a scenario where some covariates are observed for members of one pension scheme but not the other. Therefore, our approach allows for the joint modelling of datasets which contain different information about individual lives. The proposed model generalizes the specification of parametric models when accounting for covariates. We consider parameter uncertainty using Bayesian techniques. Model parametrization is analysed in order to obtain an efficient MCMC sampler, and address model selection. The inferential framework described here accommodates any missing-data pattern, and turns out to be useful to analyse statistical relationships among covariates. Finally, we assess the financial impact of using the covariates, and of the optimal use of the whole available sample when combining data from different mortality experiences.  相似文献

This paper addresses inventory policy for spare parts, when demand for the spare parts arises due to regularly scheduled preventive maintenance, as well as random failure of units in service. A stochastic dynamic programming model is used to characterize an ordering policy which addresses both sources of demand in a unified manner. The optimal policy has the form (s(k),S(k)), where k is the number of periods until the next scheduled preventive maintenance operation. The nature of the (s(k),S(k)) policy is characterized through numeric evaluation. The efficiency of the optimal policy is evaluated, relative to a simpler policy which addresses the failure replacement and preventive maintenance demands with separate ordering policies.  相似文献

This paper reports on the development of a hybrid intelligent maintenance optimisation system (HIMOS) for decision support. It is a follow-up to an earlier paper published in the Journal of the Operational Research Society in 1995. Both papers refer to systems where there are very many components which may break down independently. When a component breaks down, corrective action (CO) is required. The problem is to determine the optimal maintenance policy, essentially the frequency of preventive maintenance (PM) which minimises the sum of down time due to PM and CO.HIMOS, like its predecessor IMOS, uses an ‘intelligent’ decision support system to carry out an automated analysis of the maintenance history data. Maintenance data are presented to the system and the most suitable mathematical model from a model-base is identified utilising a hybrid knowledge/case based system (KBS/CBR). Thus initially a rule base is applied to select a model, as in the case of IMOS. If no model is matched, the system reverts to its historical case-base to match the current case with a similar case that has been previously modelled. This double reasoning adds to the system's true learning capabilities (intelligence) and increases the rate of success of model selection. A prototype system is written in Visual Basic® for an IBM compatible PC. The study results include optimal PM intervals for a sample of industrial data sets. The results of the validation exercise of HIMOS against expert advice has shown that the system functions satisfactorily.  相似文献

为揭示通用航空产业系统演化的动态和有序规律,挖掘产业形成和可持续发展的阶段识别证据,针对产业演化数据的信息不完全和连续聚类特性,基于灰色系统理论和最优分割理论构建通用航空产业演进阶段识别的灰色生成序列最优分割模型(Grey sequence generation-Fisher Model,GFM),并运用VAR模型分析通航产业政策强度的有效性。首先运用灰色系统理论的(位置加权)几何平均强化缓冲算子(W)GASBO((Weight)Geometry average strengthening buffer operator)扩张演化数据波形特征并生成灰色序列矩阵;运用最优分割理论的组内离差平方和最小判断原则判定通用航空产业演化的有序递进阶段;然后,通过我国2004~2013年通用航空产业演进阶段的实证研究,发现:我国通用航空产业演化以2010年为分界点,先后经历了初创和成长两个阶段;基于VAR模型的脉冲响应函数确定我国通航产业政策强度受“倒逼出台”、“时滞限制”的影响呈弱有效性;基于政策强度(WGASBO算子)的灰色生成序列最优分割模型更有效、更具有可行性。  相似文献

Traditionally, in the studies of the optimal maintenance policies for repairable systems, the nonhomogeneous Poisson process model, which corresponds to the minimal repair process, has been intensively applied. However, in many practical situations, the repair type is not necessarily minimal. In this article, a new repair process based on a new counting process model (so‐called the generalized Polya process) is introduced. Then, the issue of the optimal replacement problem is discussed. A bivariate preventive replacement policy is developed and the properties of the optimal policy are studied. Illustrative examples are also presented. In addition, a comparison with a conventional replacement policy is performed.  相似文献

In this paper, we formulate an analytical model for the joint determination of an optimal age-dependent buffer inventory and preventive maintenance policy in a production environment that is subject to random machine breakdowns. Traditional preventive maintenance policies, such as age and periodic replacements, are usually studied based on simplified and non-realistic assumptions, as well as on the expected costs criterion. Finished goods inventories and the age-dependent likelihood of machine breakdowns are usually not considered. As a result, these policies could significantly extend beyond the anticipated financial incomes of the system, and lead to crises. In order to solve this problem, a more realistic analysis model is proposed in this paper to consider the effects of both preventive maintenance policies and machine age on optimal safety stock levels. Hence, a unified framework is developed, allowing production and preventive maintenance to be jointly considered. We use an age-dependent optimization model based on the minimization of an overall cost function, including inventory holdings, lost sales, preventive and corrective maintenance costs. We provide optimality conditions for the manufacturing systems considered, and use numerical methods to obtain an optimal preventive maintenance policy and the relevant age-dependent threshold level production policy. In this work, this policy is called the multiple threshold levels hedging point policy. We include numerical examples and sensitivity analyses to illustrate the importance and the effectiveness of the proposed methodology. Compared with other available optimal production and maintenance policies, the numerical solution obtained shows that the proposed age-dependent optimal production and maintenance policies significantly reduce the overall cost incurred.  相似文献

The minimum spanning tree write policy for the maintenance of the consistency of a distributed database, where replicated data exist, has been proposed in [1]. In this paper, we first present a data placement heuristic algorithm in general networks for minimizing the overall transmission cost for processing the typical demands of queries (by a “simple” process strategy) and updates (by the minimum spanning tree write policy). Several interesting optimality estimation results of this algorithm are shown, while the computational intractability of the complete optimization, with respect to the simple strategy, is shown as well. Secondly, we apply a classical climbing hill technique to obtain a dynamic database placement algorithm based on an employed optimizer—a collection of distributed query process algorithms. This is guaranteed to output a “locally optimal” data allocation. The implementation results also show that those two heuristics work well in practice.  相似文献

Proper maintenance of fighter aircraft is an important issue to control theairpower. Typical maintenance policy applied is based on the constant schedulefor a given module. This kind of maintenance does not take into account varyingcharacteristics of the module over time. In this paper, we utilize the randomeffects Weibull regression model for non-constant MTBF (mean time betweenfailure) and MTTR (mean time to repair) in order to provide a dynamic preventivemaintenance schedule reflecting the module's varying characteristics in atimely manner. Spare parts demands are usually generated by the need of maintenance either preventively or at failures. These demands are difficult to predict based on historical data of past spare parts usages, and therefore, the optimal inventory control policy may be also difficult to obtain. However, it is well known that maintenance costs are related to the availability of spare parts and the penalty cost of unavailable spare parts consists of usually the cost of, for example, extended downtime for waiting the spare parts and the emergency expedition cost for acquiring the spare parts. On the other hand, proper planned maintenance intervention can reduce the number of failures and associated costs but its performance also depends on the availability of spare parts. This paper presents the joint optimisation for both the inventory control of the spare parts and the Preventive Maintenance (PM) inspection interval. The decision variables are the order interval, PM interval and order quantity. Because of the random nature of plant failures, stochastic cost models for spare parts inventory and maintenance are derived and an enumeration algorithm with stochastic dynamic programming is employed for finding the joint optimal solutions over a finite time horizon. The delay-time concept developed for inspection modelling is used to construct the probabilities of the number of failures and the number of the defective items identified at a PM epoch, which has not been used in this type of problems before. The inventory model follows a periodic review policy but with the demand governed by the need for spare parts due to maintenance. We demonstrate the developed model using a numerical example.  相似文献

This paper establishes a general ABC inventory classification system as the foundation for a normative model of the maintenance cost structure and stock turnover characteristics of a large, multi-item inventory system with constant demand. For any specified number of inventory classes, the model allows expression of the overall system combined ordering and holding cost in terms of (i) the re-ordering frequencies for the items in each inventory class and (ii) the inventory class structure, that is, the proportion of the total system's items that are in each inventory class. The model yields a minimum total maintenance cost function, which reflects the effect of class structure on inventory maintenance costs and turnover. If the Pareto curve (a.k.a. Distribution-by-value function) for the inventory system can be expressed (or approximated) analytically, the model can also be used to determine an optimal class structure, as well as an appropriate number of inventory classes. A special case of the model produces a simply structured, class-based ordering policy for minimizing total inventory maintenance costs. Using real data, the cost characteristics of this policy are compared to those of a heuristic, commonly used by managers of multi-item inventory systems. This cost comparison, expressed graphically, underscores the need for normative modelling approaches to the problem of inventory cost management in large, multi-item systems.  相似文献

In this paper, the maintenance problem for a cold standby system consisting of two dissimilar components and one repairman is studied. Assume that both component 1 and component 2 after repair follow geometric process repair and component 1 is given priority in use when both components are workable. Under these assumptions, using geometric process repair model, we consider a replacement policy N under which the system is replaced when the number of failures of component 1 reaches N. Our purpose is to determine an optimal replacement policy N1 such that the average cost rate (i.e. the long-run average cost per unit time) of the system is minimized. The explicit expression for the average cost rate of the system is derived and the corresponding optimal replacement policy N1 can be determined analytically or numerically. Finally, a numerical example is given to illustrate some theoretical results and the model applicability.  相似文献

We consider optimal pricing for a two-station tandem queueing system with finite buffers, communication blocking, and price-sensitive customers whose arrivals form a homogeneous Poisson process. The service provider quotes prices to incoming customers using either a static or dynamic pricing scheme. There may also be a holding cost for each customer in the system. The objective is to maximize either the discounted profit over an infinite planning horizon or the long-run average profit of the provider. We show that there exists an optimal dynamic policy that exhibits a monotone structure, in which the quoted price is non-decreasing in the queue length at either station and is non-increasing if a customer moves from station 1 to 2, for both the discounted and long-run average problems under certain conditions on the holding costs. We then focus on the long-run average problem and show that the optimal static policy performs as well as the optimal dynamic policy when the buffer size at station 1 becomes large, there are no holding costs, and the arrival rate is either small or large. We learn from numerical results that for systems with small arrival rates and no holding cost, the optimal static policy produces a gain quite close to the optimal gain even when the buffer at station 1 is small. On the other hand, for systems with arrival rates that are not small, there are cases where the optimal dynamic policy performs much better than the optimal static policy.

针对单部件系统/关键部件提出视情维修与备件订购联合策略,其中系统退化服从两阶段延迟时间过程且采用非周期检测策略,退化初期以检测间隔T1检查系统状态,而在第一次识别缺陷状态时,缩短检测周期为T2、订购备件且进行不完美维修;若系统在随后的退化中被识别处于缺陷状态,执行不完美维修直至超过阈值次数Nmax并采取预防性更换,但若在检测周期内发生故障则进行更换。根据系统状态和备件状态分析各种可能更新事件及相应的联合决策,利用更新报酬理论构建最小化单位时间内期望成本的目标函数,优化T1,T2, Nmax。与对比模型策略相比,算例结果表明所提出的联合策略能有效降低单位时间内的期望成本。  相似文献

We present an economic model for the optimization of preventive maintenance in a production process with two quality states. The equipment starts its operation in the in-control state but it may shift to the out-of-control state before failure or scheduled preventive maintenance. The time of shift and the time of failure are generally distributed random variables. The two states are characterized by different failure rates and revenues. We first derive the structure of the optimal maintenance policy, which is defined by two critical values of the equipment age that determine when to perform preventive maintenance depending on the actual (observable) state of the process. We then provide properties of the optimal solution and show how to determine the optimal values of the two critical maintenance times accurately and efficiently. The proposed model and, in particular, the behavior of the optimal solution as the model parameters and the shift and failure time distributions change are illustrated through numerical examples.  相似文献

This paper investigates preventive-maintenance warranty (PMW) policies for repairable products. When the length of a warranty period is pre-specified, the optimal number of preventive maintenance actions, corresponding maintenance degrees, and the maintenance schedule are jointly determined. We show that there exists a unique optimal policy such that the expected total warranty cost is minimized. Under some reasonable conditions, structural properties of the optimal policy are obtained. Using these properties, an algorithm is provided to efficiently search for the optimal policy. In the case where the failure density is Weibull, a closed form expression of the optimal policy is derived. Finally, the impact of providing preventive maintenance within a warranty period is illustrated through a numerical example.  相似文献
