Neighbor sum distinguishing total colorings of K 4-minor free graphs   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
A total [k]-coloring of a graph G is a mapping φ: V(G) U E(G) →{1, 2, ..., k} such that any two adjacent elements in V(G)UE(G) receive different colors. Let f(v) denote the sum of the colors of a vertex v and the colors of all incident edges of v. A total [k]-neighbor sum distinguishing-coloring of G is a total [k]-coloring of G such that for each edge uv E E(G), f(u) ≠ f(v). By tt [G, Xsd( J, we denote the smallest value k in such a coloring of G. Pilniak and Woniak conjectured X'sd(G) 〈 A(G) + 3 for any simple graph with maximum degree A(G). This conjecture has been proved for complete graphs, cycles, bipartite graphs, and subcubic graphs. In this paper, we prove that it also holds for Ka-minor free graphs. Furthermore, we show that if G is a Ka-minor flee graph with A(G) 〉 4, then " Xnsd(G) 〈 A(G) + 2. The bound A(G) + 2 is sharp.  相似文献

By a probabilistic construction, we find a bipartite graph having average degree d which can be expressed as a conjunctive normal form using C log d clauses. The least eigenvalue of the 0-1 adjacency matrix of a graph is denoted λ G. In this paper all graphs with λ(G) greater than ?2 are characterized. Such a graph is a generalized line graph of the form L(T;1,0,…,0), L(T), L(H), where T is a tree and H is unicyclic with an odd cycle, or is one of 573 graphs that arise from the root system E8. If G is regular with λ(G)>?2, then Gis a clique or an odd circuit. These characterizations are used for embedding problems; λR(H) = sup{λ(G)z.sfnc;HinG; Gregular}. H is an odd circuit, a path, or a complete graph iff λR(H)> ?2. For any other line graph H, λR(H) = ?2. A similar result holds for complete multipartite graphs.  相似文献

We present four new classes of graphs, two of which every member has a strongly almost trivial embedding, and the other two of which every member has no strongly almost trivial embeddings. We show that the property that a graph has a strongly almost trivial embedding and the property that a graph has no strongly almost trivial embeddings are not inherited by minors. We prove that for every prime number p and odd m>1, as s→∞, there are at least w face 2‐colorable triangular embeddings of Kw, w, w, where w = m·ps. For both orientable and nonorientable embeddings, this result implies that for infinitely many infinite families of z, there is a constant c>0 for which there are at least z nonisomorphic face 2‐colorable triangular embeddings of Kz. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Current graphs and a theorem of White are used to show the existence of almost complete regular bipartite graphs with quadrilateral embeddings conjectured by Pisanski. Decompositions of Kn and Kn, n into graphs with quadrilateral embeddings are discussed, and some thickness results are obtained. Some new genus results are also obtained.  相似文献

Let V be an n-dimensional vector space (4≤n<∞) and let Gk(V){\mathcal{G}}_{k}(V) be the Grassmannian formed by all k-dimensional subspaces of V. The corresponding Grassmann graph will be denoted by Γ k (V). We describe all isometric embeddings of Johnson graphs J(l,m), 1<m<l−1 in Γ k (V), 1<k<n−1 (Theorem 4). As a consequence, we get the following: the image of every isometric embedding of J(n,k) in Γ k (V) is an apartment of Gk(V){\mathcal{G}}_{k}(V) if and only if n=2k. Our second result (Theorem 5) is a classification of rigid isometric embeddings of Johnson graphs in Γ k (V), 1<k<n−1.  相似文献

Fix any positive integer n. Let S be the set of all Steinhaus graphs of order n(n − 1)/2 + 1. The vertices for each graph in S are the first n(n − 1)/2 + 1 positive integers. Let I be the set of all labeled graphs of order n with vertices of the form i(i − 1)/2 + 1 for the first n positive integers i. This article shows that the function ϕ : SI that maps a Steinhaus graph to its induced subgraph is a bijection. Therefore, any graph of order n is isomorphic to an induced subgraph of a Steinhaus graph of order n(n − 1)/2 + 1. This considerably tightens a result of Brigham, Carrington, and Dutton in [Brigham, Carrington, & Dutton, Combin. Inform.
