A n‐type conjugated polymer containing naphthalene diimide (NDI) and 1,3,4‐thiadiazole (TZ) moieties, named PNTZ, has been synthesized and applied for all‐polymer solar cells (all‐PSCs). By the incorporation of TZ unit into the polymer main chains, the lowest unoccupied molecular orbital level of this polymer has been adjusted effectively. In addition, the electron‐acceptor PNTZ shows a broad absorption spectrum in the range of 300–700 nm, and possesses complementary absorption spectrum with the electron‐donor PTB7‐Th. On the basis of PNTZ as the acceptor and PTB7‐Th as the donor, the all‐PSCs are fabricated. After optimization, the well blend morphologies with a continuous D/A interpenetrating network are observed and the best all‐PSC device exhibits a power conversion efficiency of 4.35% with a high short‐circuit current density of 13.26 mA cm?2. This research demonstrates that the TZ‐containing polymer PNTZ is a promising non‐fullerene acceptor for high efficiency all‐PSCs. © 2017 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. Sci., Part B: Polym. Naphthalene diimide copolymers are attractive n‐type materials due to their high electron affinities, high electron mobilities, and exceptional stability. Herein, we report a series of NDI‐fused‐thiophene based copolymers with each copolymer differing in the number of fused thiophenes in the donor monomer. Increasing the number of fused‐thiophene moieties within an NDI‐copolymer backbone is shown to not only enable tuning of the electronic structure but also improve charge mobilities within the active layer of organic field‐effect transistors. Electron mobilities and on/off ratios as high as 0.012 cm2 V?1 s‐1 and Ion/Ioff > 105 were measured from n‐channel thin‐film transistors fabricated using NDI‐xfTh copolymers. Bulk heterojunction solar cell devices were also fabricated from the NDI‐xfTh copolymer series in blends with poly(3‐hexylthiophene) (P3HT) with PNDI‐4fTh ‐ based devices yielding the largest Jsc (0.57 mA cm?2) and fill factor (55%) in addition to the highest measured PCE for this series (0.13%). © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Donor–acceptor (D–A) conjugated copolymers are one of known classes of organic optoelectronic materials and have been well developed. However, less attention has been paid on acceptor–acceptor (A–A) conjugated analogs. In this work, two types of A–A conjugated copolymers, namely P1‐Cn and P2‐Cn (n is the carbon number of their alkyl side chains), were designed and synthesized based on perylenediimide ( PDI ) and 2,1,3‐benzothiadiazole ( BT ). Different from P1‐Cn , P2‐Cn polymers have additional acetylene π‐spacers between PDI and BT and thus hold a more planar backbone configuration. Property studies revealed that P2‐Cn polymers possess a much red‐extended UV–vis absorption spectrum, stronger π–π interchain interactions, and one‐order larger electron mobility in their neat film state than P1‐Cn . However, all‐polymer solar cells using P1‐Cn as acceptor component and poly(3‐hexyl thiophene) or poly(2,7‐(9,9‐didodecyl‐fluoene)‐alt?5,5′‐(4,7‐dithienyl‐2‐yl‐2,1,3‐benzothiadiazole) as donor component exhibited much better performance than those based on P2‐Cn . Apart from their backbone chemical structure, the side chains were found to have little influence on the photophysical, electrochemical, and photovoltaic properties for both P1‐Cn and P2‐Cn polymers. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Two novel polymeric acceptors based on naphthalene diimide (NDI) and 2.2′‐bithiophene, named as P(NDI2THD‐T2) and P(NDI2TOD‐T2), were designed and synthesized for all polymer solar cells application. The structural and electronic properties of the two acceptors were modulated through side‐chain engineering of the NDI units. The optoelectronic properties of the polymers and the morphologies of the blend films composed of the polymer acceptors and a donor polymer PTB7‐Th were systemically investigated. With thiophene groups introduced into the side chains of the NDI units, both polymers showed wider absorption from 350 nm to 900 nm, compared with the reference polymer acceptor of N2200. No redshift of absorption spectra from solutions to films indicated reduced aggregation of the polymers due to the steric hindrance effect of thiophene rings in the side chains. The photovoltaic performance were characterized for devices in a configuration of ITO/PEDOT:PSS/PTB7‐Th:acceptors/2,9‐bis(3‐(dimethylamino)propyl)anthra[2,1,9‐def:6,5,10‐def]diisoquinoline‐1,3,8,10(2H,9H)‐tetraone (PDIN)/Al. With the addition of diphenyl ether as an additive, the power conversion efficiencies (PCEs) of 2.73% and 4.75% for P(NDI2THD‐T2) and P(NDI2TOD‐T2) based devices were achieved, respectively. The latter showed improved Jsc, Fill Factor (FF), and PCE compared with N2200 based devices. © 2017 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. Sci., Part A: Polym. Chem. 2017 , 55, 3679–3689  相似文献

A novel series of thiazolothiazole (Tz)‐based copolymers, poly[9,9‐didecylfluorene‐2,7‐diyl‐alt‐2,5‐bis‐(3‐hexylthiophene‐2‐yl)thiazolo[5,4‐d]thiazole] (P1), poly[9,9‐dioctyldibenzosilole‐2,7‐diyl‐alt‐2,5‐bis‐(3‐hexylthiophene‐2‐yl)thiazolo[5,4‐d]thiazole] (P2), and poly[4,4′‐bis(2‐ethylhexyl)‐dithieno[3,2‐b:2′,3′‐d]silole‐alt‐2,5‐bis‐(3‐hexylthiophene‐2‐yl)thiazolo[5,4‐d]thiazole] (P3), were synthesized for the use as donor materials in polymer solar cells (PSCs). The field‐effect carrier mobilities and the optical, electrochemical, and photovoltaic properties of the copolymers were investigated. The results suggest that the donor units in the copolymers significantly influenced the band gap, electronic energy levels, carrier mobilities, and photovoltaic properties of the copolymers. The band gaps of the copolymers were in the range of 1.80–2.14 eV. Under optimized conditions, the Tz‐based polymers showed power conversion efficiencies (PCEs) for the PSCs in the range of 2.23–2.75% under AM 1.5 illumination (100 mW/cm2). Among the three copolymers, P1, which contained a fluorene donor unit, showed a PCE of 2.75% with a short‐circuit current of 8.12 mA/cm2, open circuit voltage of 0.86 V, and a fill factor (FF) of 0.39, under AM 1.5 illumination (100 mW/cm2). © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. We have investigated the effect of solvent–polymer interaction on the morphology, crystallinity, and device performance of poly‐(3‐hexylthiophene) (P3HT) and poly{2,7‐(9,9‐didodecyl‐fluorene)‐alt‐5,5‐[4′,7′‐bis(2‐thienyl)‐2′,1′,3′‐benzothia‐diaole]} (PF12TBT) blend system. 3‐Hexylthiophene (3‐HT), which had the similar structural units with both donor and acceptor materials, was chosen as the solvent additive to be added into the main solvent chlorobenzene (CB), to adjust the solvent–polymer interaction. With the 3‐HT percentage increasing from 5 to 30% in CB solution, the solvent–polymer interaction between polymer and solvent molecules decreased slightly according to the calculated solubility parameters (δ) and interaction parameters (χ12). As a result, nanoscale phase‐separated and interconnected morphology with decreased domain size of both donor and acceptor was formed. Meanwhile, the order of P3HT molecule was enhanced which resulted from the extended film drying time and increased molecular planarity after incorporation of 3‐HT. The power conversion efficiency (PCE) had a gradual improvement to 1.08% as the 3‐HT percentage reached 10%, which can be attributed to the enhanced short‐circuit current (Jsc) and fill factor (FF). However, when the 3‐HT percentage exceeded 20%, the decreased Jsc and FF ultimately decreased the PCE. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. Sci., Part B: Polym. Phys. 2015 , 53, 288–296  相似文献

We have used Suzuki coupling to prepare a series of alternating copolymers featuring coplanar cyclopentadithiophene and hole‐transporting carbazole units. We observed quenching in the photoluminescence spectra of our polymers after incorporating pendent electron‐deficient perylene diimide ( PDI ) moieties on the side chains, indicating more efficient photoinduced electron transfer. Electrochemical measurements revealed that the PDI ‐containing copolymers displayed reasonable and sufficient offsets of the energy levels of their lowest unoccupied molecular orbitals for efficient charge dissociation. The performance of bulk heterojunction photovoltaic cells incorporating the copolymer/[6,6]‐phenyl‐C61‐butyric acid methyl ester blends (1:4, w/w) was optimized when the active layer had a thickness of 70 nm. The photocurrents of the devices were enhanced as a result of the presence of the PDI moieties, thereby leading to improved power conversion efficiencies. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. To explore the aptitude of 1,2,4‐oxadiazole‐based electron‐acceptor unit in polymer solar cell applications, we prepared four new polymers (P1–P4) containing 1,2,4‐oxadiazole moiety in their main chain and applied them to solar cell applications. Thermal, optical, and electrochemical properties of the polymers were studied using thermogravimetric, absorption, and cyclic voltammetry analysis, respectively. All four polymers showed high thermal stability (5% degradation temperature over 335 °C), and the optical band gaps were calculated to be 2.20, 1.72, 1.37, and 1.74 eV, respectively, from the onset wavelength of the film‐state absorption band. The energy levels of the polymers were found to be suitable for bulk heterojunction (BHJ) solar cell applications. The BHJ solar cells were prepared by using the synthesized polymers as a donor and PC71BM as an electron acceptor with the configuration of ITO/PEDOT:PSS/polymer:PC71BM (1:3 wt %)/LiF/Al. One of the polymers was found to show the maximum power conversion efficiency of 1.33% with a Jsc of 4.95 mA/cm2, a Voc of 0.68 V, and a FF of 40%, measured using AM 1.5 G solar simulator at 100 mW/cm2 light illumination. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Various molar ratios of platinum complexes were introduced into the conjugated backbone of the well‐studied poly[[N,N′‐bis(2‐octyldodecyl)‐naphthalene‐1,4,5,8‐bis(dicarboximide)‐2,6‐diyl]‐alt‐5,5′‐(2,2′‐bithiophene)](PNDIT2) acceptor polymer through random terpolymer approach. Terpolymers PNDIT2Ptx (x = 1, 2 and 5) exhibited slightly higher melting point (Tm), crystallization temperature, HOMO and LUMO energy levels than the control PNDIT2 copolymer due to the introduction of small amount of weaker electron‐withdrawing bulky rigid Pt complex instead of strong electron‐withdrawing flexible naphthalene diimide. When blended them with poly[[2,6′‐4,8‐di(5‐ethylhexylthienyl)benzo[1,2‐b;3,3‐b] dithiophene] [3‐fluoro‐2[(2‐ethylhexyl)carbonyl]thieno[3,4‐b]thiophenediyl]] (PTB7‐Th) in all polymer solar cells, enhanced power conversion efficiency of 4.51% (3.74%) was obtained in terpolymer PNDIT2Pt1 based device compared to 3.88% (3.24%) of the control PNDIT2 at the same inverted (conventional) device conditions. The enhancement was probably ascribed to higher hole and electron transport ability and more efficient charge separation. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first example of random terpolymer acceptors based on heavy metal complexes. © 2017 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. Sci., Part A: Polym. We report the synthesis of a series of copolymers, having 2,2′-bithiophene as electron-donating moiety, and perylene diimide (PDI) and/or naphthalene diimide (NDI) as electron-accepting moiety, and employed as non-fullerene acceptors in polymer solar cells (PSCs). All the copolymers show wide absorption varying from 300 to 850 nm in the visible and NIR spectrum. When changing the PDI/NDI ratio in the polymer backbone, The LUMO energy levels vary in the range of −3.90 to −3.80 eV and the HOMO energy levels vary in the range of −6.10 to −5.85 eV. Among PSCs based on PTB7-Th donor and these polymer acceptors, the devices based on PTB7-Th/NDI100 yield the best power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 4.67%, while the PTB7-Th/PDI100-based devices yield a PCE of 1.03%. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A series of one donor–two acceptor (D–A1)‐(D–A2) random terpolymers containing a 2,7‐carbazole donor and varying compositions of perylene diimide (PDI) and naphthalene diimide (NDI) acceptors was synthesized via Suzuki coupling polymerization. The optical properties of the terpolymers are weighted sums of the constituent parent copolymers and all show strong absorption over the 400 to 700 nm range with optical bandgaps ranging from 1.77 to 1.87 eV, depending on acceptor composition. The copolymers were tested as acceptor materials in bulk heterojunction all‐polymer solar cells using poly[(4,8‐bis‐(2‐ethylhexyloxy)‐benzo[1,2‐b;4,5‐b′]dithiophene)‐2,6‐diyl‐alt‐(4‐(2‐ethylhexanoyl)‐thieno[3,4‐b]thiophene)‐2,6‐diyl] (PBDTTT‐C) as the donor material. In contrast to the optoelectronic properties, the measured device parameters are not composition dependent, and rather depend solely on the presence of the NDI unit, where the devices containing any amount of NDI perform half as well as those using the parent polymer containing only carbazole and PDI. Overall this is the first example of a one donor–two acceptor random terpolymer system containing perylene diimide (PDI) and naphthalene diimide (NDI) acceptor units, and demonstrates a facile method of tuning polymer optoelectronic properties while minimizing the need for complicated synthetic and purification steps. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. An angular‐shaped naphthalene tetracarboxylic diimide (NDI) was designed and synthesized as a new building block for n‐type conjugated polymers to tune their energy levels. Three n‐type copolymers incorporating this angular‐shaped NDI as the acceptor moiety were obtained by Stille coupling reactions and had number average molecular weights of 18.7–73.0 kDa. All‐polymer bulk‐heterojunction solar cells made from blends of these polymers with poly(3‐hexylthiophene) gave a power conversion efficiency up to 0.32% and exhibited an open‐circuit voltage (Voc) up to 0.94 V due to their relative high‐lying lowest unoccupied molecular orbital energy levels. The high Voc of 0.94 V is higher than that of solar cells based on linear‐shaped NDI‐containing polymers (<0.6 V). The results indicate that the angular‐shaped NDI is a promising building block for constructing nonfullerene polymer acceptors for solar cells with high open‐circuit voltages. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A series of alternating copolymers of electron‐rich arylamine and electron‐deficient 2,1,3‐benzothiadiazole (BT), PV‐BT, DP‐BT, and TP‐BT, were synthesized by Heck coupling reaction. UV–vis absorption and fluorescence spectra show that the copolymerization of electron‐rich diphenylamine (DP), triphenylamine (TP), MEH‐PV (PV), and electron‐deficient BT results in low‐bandgap conjugated polymers. Within the three copolymers of PV‐BT, DP‐BT, and TP‐BT, TP‐BT possesses the highest hole mobility of 4.68 × 10? 5 cm2/V, as determined from the space charge limited current (SCLC) model. The bulk heterojunction‐typed polymer solar cells (PSCs) were fabricated with the blend of the copolymers and PCBM as the photosensitive layer. The power conversion efficiencies (PCE) of the PSCs based on PV‐BT, DP‐BT, and TP‐BT reached 0.26%, 0.39%, and 0.52%, respectively, under the illumination of AM 1.5, 100 mW/cm2. The results indicate that TP‐BT is a promising photovoltaic polymer for PSCs. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem 45: 3861–3871, 2007  相似文献

Two polymers containing(E)-2,3-bis(thiophen-2-yl)acrylonitrile(CNTVT) as a donor unit, perylene diimide(PDI) or naphthalene diimide(NDI) as an acceptor unit, are synthesized by the Stille coupling copolymerization, and used as the electron acceptors in the solution-processed organic solar cells(OSCs). Both polymers exhibit broad absorption in the region of 300–850 nm. The LUMO energy levels of the resulted polymers are ca. –3.93 eV and the HOMO energy levels are –5.97 and –5.83 eV. In the binary blend OSCs with PTB7-Th as a donor, PDI polymer yields the power conversion efficiency(PCE) of up to 1.74%, while NDI polymer yields PCE of up to 3.80%.  相似文献

A series of all‐conjugated diblock and triblock copolymers comprised of poly(naphthalene diimide) (PNDI)‐based n‐type and the poly(3‐hexylthiophene) (P3HT) segments could be synthesized via the Kumada catalyst‐transfer polycondensation process. The crystalline structures and chain orientation of the block copolymer thin films were systematically studied by grazing incident wide‐angle X‐ray scattering (GIWAXS). The GIWAXS results indicated that both the P3HT and PNDI segments in the block copolymers form exclusive crystalline domains in which the P3HT domain aligns with an edge‐on rich orientation, and the PNDI domain aligns with a face‐on rich orientation. In contrast, the blend films of the P3HT and PNDI homopolymers also show two distinguished crystalline domains in which the P3HT domain aligns with an edge‐on rich orientation, and the PNDI domains align in different ways depending on the chemical structure of n‐type polymers, that is, PNDI1Th is isotropically dispersed, while PNDI2Th aligns with a face‐on rich orientation. In addition, the effect of thermal annealing on the crystalline behavior of the block copolymers is reported. The GIWAXS results indicated that thermal annealing increases the crystallinity of both segments without affecting their chain orientation. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. A series of soluble donor‐acceptor conjugated polymers comprising of phenothiazine donor and various benzodiazole acceptors (i.e., benzothiadiazole, benzoselenodiazole, and benzoxadiazole) sandwiched between hexyl‐thiophene linkers were designed, synthesized, and used for the fabrication of polymer solar cells (PSC). The effects of the benzodiazole acceptors on the thermal, optical, electrochemical, and photovoltaic properties of these low‐bandgap (LBG) polymers were investigated. These LBG polymers possessed large molecular weight (Mn) in the range of 3.85?5.13 × 104 with high thermal decomposition temperatures, which demonstrated broad absorption in the region of 300?750 nm with optical bandgaps of 1.80?1.93 eV. Both the HOMO energy level (?5.38 to ?5.47 eV) and LUMO energy level (?3.47 to ?3.60 eV) of the LBG polymers were within the desirable range of ideal energy level. Under 100 mW/cm2 of AM 1.5 white‐light illumination, bulk heterojunction PSC devices containing an active layer of electron donor polymers mixed with electron acceptor [6,6]‐phenyl‐C61‐butyric acid methyl ester (PC61BM) or [6,6]‐phenyl‐C71‐butyric acid methyl ester (PC71BM) in different weight ratios were investigated. The best performance of the PSC device was obtained by using polymer PP6DHTBT as an electron donor and PC71BM as an acceptor in the weight ratio of 1:4, and a power conversion efficiency value of 1.20%, an open‐circuit voltage (Voc) value of 0.75 V, a short‐circuit current (Jsc) value of 4.60 mA/cm2, and a fill factor (FF) value of 35.0% were achieved. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. All-polymer solar cells based on blends of the low band gap polymers poly{[4,8-bis[(2-ethylhexyl)oxy]benzo[1,2-b:4,5-b′]dithiophene-2,6-diyl][3-fluoro-2-[(2-ethylhexyl)carbonyl]thieno[3,4-b]thiophenediyl]} (PTB7) and poly{[N,N-9-bis(2-octyldodecyl)-naphthalene-1,4,5,8-bis(dicarboximide)-2,6-diyl]-alt-5,59-(2,29-bithiophene)} (P(NDI2OD-T2)) are demonstrated. The use of the donor polymer PTB7 instead of poly(3-hexylthiophene) results in a higher open-circuit voltage and an overall spectral response better matched to the solar spectrum. A power conversion efficiency of 1.1% is reported with a peak external quantum efficiency of 18% at a wavelength of 680 nm. The microstructure of PTB7:P(NDI2OD-T2) blends is also investigated using a combination of grazing-incidence wide-angle X-ray scattering (GIWAXS), near-edge X-ray fine-structure (NEXAFS) spectroscopy, atomic force microscopy (AFM), and scanning transmission X-ray microscopy (STXM). GIWAXS measurements show that PTB7:P(NDI2OD-T2) blends contain P(NDI2OD-T2) crystallites with a (100) thickness of 9.5 nm dispersed in an amorphous PTB7 matrix. STXM measurements indicate a lack of mesoscale phase separation, with AFM and NEXAFS measurements revealing a P(NDI2OD-T2)-rich top surface with fibrillar morphology. These results indicate that the pairing of low band gap polymers as both donor and acceptor polymers in all-polymer solar cells may be an effective strategy for realizing high-efficiency all-polymer solar cells. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Two conjugated copolymers PADT‐DPP and PADT‐FDPP based on anthradithiophene and diketopyrrolopyrrole, with thiophene and furan as the π‐conjugated bridge, respectively, were successfully synthesized and characterized. The number‐averaged molecular weights of the two polymers are 38.7 and 30.2 kg/mol, respectively. Polymers PADT‐DPP and PADT‐FDPP exhibit broad absorption bands and their optical band gaps are 1.44 and 1.50 eV, respectively. The highest occupied molecular orbital energy level of PADT‐DPP is located at ?5.03 eV while that of PADT‐FDPP is at ?5.16 eV. In field‐effect transistors, PADT‐DPP and PADT‐FDPP displayed hole mobilities of 4.7 × 10?3 and 2.7 × 10?3 cm2/(V s), respectively. In polymer solar cells, PADT‐DPP and PADT‐FDPP showed power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 3.44% and 0.29%, respectively. Atomic force microscopy revealed that the poor efficiency of PADT‐FDPP should be related to the large two‐phase separation in its active layer. If 1,8‐diiodooctane (DIO) was used as the solvent additive, the PCE of PADT‐DPP remained almost unchanged due to very limited morphology variation. However, the addition of DIO could remarkably elevate the PCE of PADT‐FDPP to 2.62% because of the greatly improved morphology. Our results suggest that the anthradithiophene as an electron‐donating polycyclic system is useful to construct new D–A alternating copolymers for efficient polymer solar cells. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
