N–Isopropylacrylamide (NIPAM) was polymerized using 1‐pyrenyl 2‐chloropropionate (PyCP) as the initiator and CuCl/tris[2‐(dimethylamino)ethyl]amine (Me6TREN) as the catalyst system. The polymerizations were performed using the feed ratio of [NIPAM]0/[PyCP]0/[CuCl]0/[Me6TREN]0 = 50/1/1/1 in DMF/water of 13/2 at 20 °C to afford an end‐functionalized poly(N‐isopropylacrylamide) with the pyrenyl group (Py–PNIPAM). The characterization of the Py–PNIPAM using matrix‐assisted laser desorption ionization time‐of‐flight mass spectrometry provided the number–average molecular weight (Mn,MS). The lower critical solution temperature (LCST) for the liquid–solid phase transition was 21.7, 24.8, 26.5, and 29.3 °C for the Py–PNIPAMs with the Mn,MS's of 3000, 3400, 4200, and 5000, respectively; hence, the LCST was dramatically lowered with the decreasing Mn,MS. The aqueous Py–PNIPAM solution below the LCST was characterized using a static laser light scattering (SLS) measurement to determine its molar mass, Mw,SLS. The aqueous solutions of the Py–PNIPAMs with the Mn,MS's of 3000, 3400, 4200, and 5000 showed the Mw,SLS of 586,000, 386,000, 223,000, and 170,000, respectively. Thus, lowering the LCST for Py–PNIPAM should be attributable to the formation of the PNIPAM aggregates. The LCST of 21.7 °C for Py–PNIPAM with the Mn,MS of 3000 was effectively raised by adding β‐cyclodextrin (β‐CD) and reached the constant value of ~26 °C above the molar ratio of [β‐CD]/[Py–PNIPAM] = 2/1, suggesting that β‐CD formed an inclusion complex with pyrene in the chain‐end to disturb the formation of PNIPAM aggregates, thus raising the LCST. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The lower critical solution temperatures (LCSTs) for mass fractionated samples of poly(N‐isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAM) were studied to determine the effect of polymer molecular weight on the LCST using a high throughput temperature gradient apparatus. PNIPAM fractions prepared by a conventional radical polymerization using azoisobutyronitrile (AIBN) as the initiator had LCSTs that were largely invariant with molecular weight or dispersity. Only slight deviations were noted with lower molecular weight samples. An 18‐kDa sample had a 0.6 °C higher LCST. A 56‐kDa sample had a 0.2 °C higher LCST. PNIPAM derivatives prepared with a triphenylmethyl (trityl) functionalized azo initiator were also prepared and mass fractionated. These samples' LCSTs were identical to those of PNIPAM samples prepared using AIBN initiation when higher molecular weight samples were compared. The trityl‐containing PNIPAM fractions' LCSTs varied when the molecular weight decreased below 100 kDa. Acidolysis of the trityl end groups provided a third set of PNIPAM derivatives whose LCST differed only with samples with Mw values < 60 kDa. These results show there is no effect of molecular weight on LCST until the degree of polymerization is such that end group structure becomes significant. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Self‐assembled thermo‐ and pH‐responsive poly(acrylic acid)‐b‐poly(N‐isopropylacrylamide) (PAA‐b‐PNIPAM) micelles for entrapment and release of doxorubicin (DOX) was described. Block copolymer PAA‐b‐PNIPAM associated into core‐shell micelles in aqueous solution with collapsed PNIPAM block or protonated PAA block as the core on changing temperature or pH. Complexation of DOX with PAA‐b‐PNIPAM triggered by the electrostatic interaction and release of DOX from the complexes due to the changing of pH or temperature were studied. Complex micelles incorporated with DOX exhibited pH‐responsive and thermoresponsive drug release profile. The release of DOX from micelles was suppressed at pH 7.2 and accelerated at pH 4.0 due to the protonation of carboxyl groups. Furthermore, the cumulative release of DOX from complex micelles was enhanced around LCST ascribed to the structure deformation of the micelles. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A series of block copolymers comprising poly(N‐isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAM) and poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) end‐functionalized with a quaternary ammonium group (RQ) was synthesized by free‐radical polymerization of N‐isopropylacrylamide with well‐defined RQPEO macroazoinitiators. The radical termination occurred mainly by disproportionation, as confirmed by combining the data from size exclusion chromatography (SEC) and rheology measurements. The copolymers denoted RQExNy differ in type of the terminal group [FQ = C8F17(CH3)2N+ or MQ = (CH3)3N+] and in the length of the PEO (Ex; x = 4, 6, or 10 K) and PNIPAM (Ny; y = 7 or 17–19 K) blocks. The type of the terminal group determined the behavior of the block copolymers in the dilute and semidilute regime. Self‐assembled species formed by both FQ and MQ modified block copolymers were detected by static light scattering measurements at 25 °C and above the lower critical solution temperature (LCST). The LCST of the block copolymers depended on the type of the RQ group and the length of the blocks. FQ‐modified copolymers form elastic gels below and above the LCST. It was inferred that the FQ groups and the PNIPAM blocks form segregated microdomains that serve as junctions to maintain a viscoelastic network. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A hetero‐arm star polymer, polystyrene‐poly(N‐isopropylacrylamide)‐ poly(2‐(dimethylamino)ethylmethacrylate) (PSt‐PNIPAM‐PDMAEMA), was synthesized by “clicking” the alkyne group at the junction of PSt‐b‐PNIPAM diblock copolymer onto the azide end‐group of PDMAEMA homopolymer via 1,3‐dipolar cycloaddition. The resultant polymer was characterized by gel permeation chromatography, proton nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. PSt‐PNIPAM‐PDMAEMA micelles with PSt block as core and PNIPAM and PDMAEMA blocks as shell were formed when adding the copolymer solution in THF into 10 folds of water. Lower critical solution temperature (LCST) of PNIPAM and PDMAEMA homopolymer is 32 °C for PNIPAM and 40 to 50 °C for PDMAEMA, respectively. Upon continuous heating through their LCSTs, PSt‐PNIPAM‐PDMAEMA core‐shell micelles exhibited two‐stage thermally induced collapse. The first‐stage collapse, from 20 to 34 °C, is ascribed to the shrinkage of PNIPAM chains; and the second‐stage collapse, from 38 to 50 °C, is due to the shrinkage of PDMAEMA chains. Dynamic light scattering was used to confirm the double phase transitions. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem 47: 786–796, 2009  相似文献

Water‐soluble diblock copolymer, poly(N‐isopropylacrylamide)‐block‐poly(N‐vinyl‐2‐pyrroridone) (PNIPAMmb‐PNVPn), was found to associate with fullerene (C60), and thus C60 can be solubilized in water. The 63C60/PNIPAMmb‐PNVPn micelle formed a core‐shell micelle‐like aggregate comprising a C60/PNVP hydrophobic core and a thermoresponsive PNIPAM shell. The C60‐containing polymer micelle formation and its thermoresponsive behavior were characterized using light scattering and 1H NMR techniques. The hydrodynamic radius (Rh) of the C60‐bound polymer micelle increased with increasing temperature, which was ascribed to the hydrophobic association between dehydrated PNIPAM shells above lower critical solution temperature (LCST). 1H NMR data suggest that the motion of the PNIPAM block is restricted above LCST due to the dehydration of the PNIPAM shell in water. The generation of singlet oxygen by photosensitization by the C60‐bound polymer micelle was confirmed from photooxidation of 9,10‐anthracenedipropionic acid. Furthermore, DNA was found to be cleaved by visible light irradiation in the presence of the C60‐bound polymer micelle. Therefore, there may be a hope for a pharmaceutical application of the C60‐bound polymer micelle to cancer photodynamic therapy. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Double hydrophilic poly(ethylene oxide)‐b‐poly(N‐isopropylacrylamide) (PEO‐b‐PNIPAM) block copolymers were synthesized via reversible addition‐fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) polymerization, using a PEO‐based chain transfer agent (PEO‐CTA). The molecular structures of the copolymers were designed to be asymmetric with a short PEO block and long PNIPAM blocks. Temperature‐induced aggregation behavior of the block copolymers in dilute aqueous solutions was systematically investigated by a combination of static and dynamic light scattering. The effects of copolymer composition, concentration (Cp), and heating rate on the size, aggregation number, and morphology of the aggregates formed at temperatures above the LCST were studied. In slow heating processes, the aggregates formed by the copolymer having the longest PNIPAM block, were found to have the same morphology (spherical “crew‐cut” micelles) within the full range of Cp. Nevertheless, for the copolymer having the shortest PNIPAM block, the morphology of the aggregates showed a great dependence on Cp. Elongation of the aggregates from spherical to ellipsoidal or even cylindrical was observed. Moreover, vesicles were observed at the highest Cp investigated. Fast heating leads to different characteristics of the aggregates, including lower sizes and aggregation numbers, higher densities, and different morphologies. Thermodynamic and kinetic mechanisms were proposed to interpret these observations, including the competition between PNIPAM intrachain collapse and interchain aggregation. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. We report on the synthesis of an H‐shaped polymer bonding β‐cyclodextrin (β‐CD) at branch points and influences of attached β‐CD on physical properties. First, a poly(ethylene glycol)(PEG)‐based functional macroinitiator bearing two azidos and four chlorines at chain‐ends (PEG‐2N3(‐4Cl)) was prepared via terminal modification reactions. Then, PEG‐2N3(‐4Cl) was applied to initiate the atom transfer radical polymerization of N‐isopropylacrylamide, leading to the synthesis of an H‐shaped block polymer with PEG as the central chain and poly(N‐isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAM) as side‐arms (PEG‐2N3(‐4PNIPAM)). Azido groups were at the branch points of the polymer. Finally, the click reaction between PEG‐2N3(‐4PNIPAM) and alkynyl monosubstituted β‐cyclodextrin (β‐CD) afforded another H‐shaped polymer with two β‐CDs bonding at the polymer branch points (PEG‐2CD(‐4PNIPAM)). The glass transition temperature (Tg) and lower critical solution temperature (LCST) of the H‐shaped polymer increased after the attachment of β‐CD. The self‐assembly and thermal responsive behaviors, as well as the encapsulation behaviors of PEG‐2CD(‐4PNIPAM) were also altered. When temperature was below the LCSTs, PEG‐2N3(‐2PNIPAM) dissolved in water molecularly, whereas PEG‐2CD(‐4PNIPAM) could self‐assemble into nano‐sized micelles. After the LCST transitions, PEG‐2N3(‐4PNIPAM) aggregated into micron‐sized unstable particles, whereas PEG‐2CD(‐4PNIPAM) transformed into PNIPAM‐cored nanomicelles. Besides, PEG‐2CD(‐4PNIPAM) can encapsulate doxorubicin below its LCST due to the formation of micelles. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem, 2013  相似文献

A novel double brush‐shaped copolymer with amphiphilic polyacrylate‐b‐poly(ethylene glycol)‐b‐poly acrylate copolymer (PA‐b‐PEG‐b‐PA) as a backbone and thermosensitive poly(N‐isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAM) long side chains at both ends of the PEG was synthesized via an atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) route, and the structure was confirmed by FTIR, 1H NMR, and SEC. The thermosensitive self‐assembly behavior was examined via UV‐vis, TEM, DLS, and surface tension measurements, etc. The self‐assembled micelles, with low critical solution temperatures (LCST) of 34–38 °C, form irregular fusiform and/or spherical morphologies with single, double, and petaling cores in aqueous solution at room temperature, while above the LCST the micelles took on more regular and smooth spherical shapes with diameter ranges from 45 to 100 nm. The micelle exhibits high stabilities even in simulated physiological media, with low critical micellization concentration (CMC) up to 5.50, 4.89, and 5.05 mg L?1 in aqueous solution, pH 1.4 and 7.4 PBS solutions, respectively. The TEM and DLS determination reveled that the copolymer micelle had broad size distribution below its LCST while it produces narrow and homogeneous size above the LCST. The cytotoxicity was investigated by MTT assays to elucidate the application potential of the as‐prepared block polymer brushes as drug controlled release vehicles. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Novel thermo‐responsive poly(N‐isopropylacrylamide)‐block‐poly(l ‐lactide)‐block‐poly(N‐isopropylacylamide) (PNIPAAm‐b‐PLLA‐b‐PNIPAAm) triblock copolymers were successfully prepared by atom transfer radical polymerization of NIPAAm with Br‐PLLA‐Br macroinitiator, using a CuCl/tris(2‐dimethylaminoethyl) amine (Me6TREN) complex as catalyst at 25 °C in a N,N‐dimethylformamide/water mixture. The molecular weight of the copolymers ranges from 18,000 to 38,000 g mol?1, and the dispersity from 1.10 to 1.28. Micelles are formed by self‐assembly of copolymers in aqueous medium at room temperature, as evidenced by 1H NMR, dynamic light scattering (DLS) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The critical micelle concentration determined by fluorescence spectroscopy ranges from 0.0077 to 0.016 mg mL?1. 1H NMR analysis in selective solvents confirmed the core‐shell structure of micelles. The copolymers exhibit a lower critical solution temperature (LCST) between 32.1 and 32.8 °C. The micelles are spherical in shape with a mean diameter between 31.4 and 83.3 nm, as determined by TEM and DLS. When the temperature is raised above the LCST, micelle size increases at high copolymer concentrations due to aggregation. In contrast, at low copolymer concentrations, decrease of micelle size is observed due to collapse of PNIPAAm chains. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. Sci., Part A: Polym. The synthesis of a thermoresponsive hydrogel of poly(glycidyl methacrylate‐coN‐isopropylacrylamide) (PGMA‐co‐PNIPAM) and its application as a nanoreactor of gold nanoparticles are studied. The thermoresponsive copolymer of PGMA‐co‐PNIPAM is first synthesized by the copolymerization of glycidyl methacrylate and N‐isopropylacrylamide using 2,2′‐azobis(isobutyronitrile) as an initiator in tetrahydrofuran at 70 °C and then crosslinked with diethylenetriamine to form a thermoresponsive hydrogel. The lower critical solution temperature (LCST) of the thermoresponsive hydrogel is about 50 °C. The hydrogel exists as 280‐nm spheres below the LCST. The diameter of the spherical hydrogel gradually decreases to a minimum constant of 113 nm when the temperature increases to 75 °C. The hydrogel can act as a nanoreactor of gold nanoparticles because of the coordination of nitrogen atoms of the crosslinker with gold ions, on which a hydrogel/gold nanocomposite is synthesized. The LCST of the resultant hydrogel/gold nanocomposite is similar to that of the hydrogel. The size of the resultant gold nanoparticles is about 15 nm. The hydrogel/gold nanocomposite can act as a smart and recyclable catalyst. At a temperature below the LCST, the thermoresponsive nanocomposite is a homogeneous and efficient catalyst, whereas at a temperature above the LCST, it becomes a heterogeneous one, and its catalytic activity greatly decreases. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. In this study, a novel thermo‐sensitive poly(N‐acryloylglycinates) was prepared in order to get a potential drug release carrier. The corresponding monomers and the polymers were characterized with Fourier‐transform infrared (FTIR) and 1H NMR. The thermo‐sensitivity of the poly(N‐acryloylglycinates) was evaluated by measuring their lower critical solution temperatures (LCST) in water, inorganic salt solution, and different pH solutions. The results indicated that poly(N‐acryloylglycine methyl ester) (NAGME) and poly(N‐acryloylglycine ethyl ester) (NAGEE) exhibit a reversible thermo‐sensibility in their aqueous solutions at 61.5 and 12.5°C, respectively. However, no thermo‐sensitive behavior of poly(N‐acryloylglycine propyl ester) (NAGPE) was found due to its over hydrophobicity. The swelling studies on hydrogels were carried out at different temperatures, in different pH, and inorganic salt solutions. The hydrogels showed a remarkable phase transition at about 35°C with changing temperature. The release rate of caffeine from the thermo‐sensitive hydrogel was apparently decreased as the crosslinker content increased and temperature decreased. Seventy five percent caffeine from the polymeric hydrogel with 5% NMBA (N, N‐methylenebis(acrylamide)) was released at room temperature within 240 min, whereas 95.4% caffeine diffused into the medium at 37°C. We report a thermoresponsive poly(N‐isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAM) brush functionalized Janus Au–Pt bimetallic micromotor capable of modulating the direction of motion with the change of the ambient temperature. The PNIPAM@Au–Pt micromotor moved along the Au–Pt direction with a speed of 8.5 μm s?1 in 1.5 % H2O2 at 25 °C (below the lower critical solution temperature (LCST) of PNIPAM), whereas it changed the direction of motion (i.e., along the Pt–Au direction) and the speed decreased to 2.3 μm s?1 at 35 °C (above LCST). Below LCST, PNIPAM brushes grafted on the Au side were hydrophilic and swelled, which permitted the electron transfer and proton diffusion on the Au side, and thus the motion is regarded as a self‐electrophoretic mechanism. However, PNIPAM brushes above LCST became hydrophobic and collapsed, and thus the driving mechanism switched to the self‐diffusiophoresis like that of Pt‐modified Janus silica motors. These motors could reversibly change the direction of motion with the transition of the hydrophobic and hydrophilic states of the grafted PNIPAM brushes. Such a thermoresponsive polymer brush functionalization method provides a new strategy for engineering the kinematic behavior of phoretically driven micro/nanomotors.  相似文献

A new atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) initiator, namely, 2‐(1‐(2‐azidoethoxy)ethoxy)ethyl 2‐bromo‐2‐methylpropanoate containing both “cleavable” acetal linkage and “clickable” azido group was synthesized. Well‐defined azido‐terminated poly(N‐isopropylacrylamide)s (PNIPAAm‐N3)s with molecular weights and dispersity in the range 11,000–19,000 g mol?1 and 1.20–1.28, respectively, were synthesized employing the initiator by ATRP. Acetal containing PCL‐b‐PNIPAAm block copolymer was obtained by alkyne–azide click reaction of azido‐terminated PNIPAAm‐N3 with propargyl‐terminated PCL. Critical aggregation concentration (CAC) of PCL‐b‐PNIPAAm copolymer in aqueous solution was found to be 8.99 × 10?6 M. Lower critical solution temperature (LCST) of PCL‐b‐PNIPAAm copolymer was found to be 32 °C which was lower than that of the precursor PNIPAAm‐N3 (36.4 °C). The effect of dual stimuli viz . temperature and pH on size and morphology of the assemblies of PCL‐b‐PNIPAAm block copolymer revealed that the copolymer below LCST assembled in spherical micelles which subsequently transformed to unstable vesicles above the LCST. Heating these assemblies above 40 °C led to the precipitation of PCL‐b‐PNIPAAm block copolymer. Whereas, at decreased pH, micelles of PCL‐b‐PNIPAAm copolymer disintegrate due to the cleavage of acetal linkage and precipitation of hydrophobic hydroxyl‐terminated PCL. The encapsulated pyrene release kinetics from the micelles of synthesized PCL‐b‐PNIPAAm copolymer was found to be faster at higher temperature and at lower pH. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Aliphatic poly(urethane‐amine) (PUA) was synthesized from copolymerization of CO2 and 2‐methylaziridine (MAZ) using Y(CCl3COO)3‐ZnEt2‐glycerine coordination catalyst, the urethane content of PUA was over 80%, and its yield could reach 90%. PUA with molecular weight as high as 31.0 kg/mol was obtained when the copolymerization reaction was carried out in N,N‐dimethylacetamide (DMAc), mainly due to the good solubility of PUA in DMAc. PUA exhibited reversible thermo‐responsive property in deionized water, and the lower critical solution temperature (LCST) was highly sensitive to its urethane content and molecular weight, which was observed in a broad window from 37 to 90 °C. Furthermore, the phase transition behavior could also be controlled by change of pH value. When the pH value of the PUA aqueous solution changed from 9.2 to 13, the LCST value of the solution decreased from 48.4 °C to 30 °C. Therefore, the PUA showed thermo‐ and pH‐ dual responsive performance in water. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem, 2011  相似文献

Thermoresponsive colloidal microgels were prepared by polymerization of N‐isopropylacrylamide (NIPAM) in the presence of a crosslinking monomer, N,N‐methylenebisacrylamide, in water with varying concentrations (<CMC) of an anionic surfactant, sodium dodecylsulphate (SDS). Volume phase transitions of the prepared microgels were studied in D2O by 1H NMR spectroscopy including the measurements of spin–lattice (T1) and spin–spin (T2) relaxation times for the protons of poly(N‐isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAM) at temperature range 22–50 °C. In addition, microcalorimetry, turbidometry, dynamic light scattering, and electrophoretic mobility measurements were used to characterize the aqueous microgels. As expected, increasing SDS concentration in the polymerization batch decreased the hydrodynamic size of an aqueous microgel. Structures with high mobilities at temperatures above the LCST of PNIPAM were observed in the microgels prepared with small amount of SDS, as indicated by the relaxation times of different PNIPAM protons. It was concluded that the high mobility at high temperatures is in connection to a mobile surface layer with polyelectrolyte nature and with high local LCST. High SDS concentration in the synthesis was observed to prevent the formation of permanent, solid PNIPAM particles. The results from different characterization methods indicated that PNIPAM microgels prepared in high SDS concentrations appear to be more homogeneously structured than their correspondences prepared in low SDS concentration. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Mixed micelles of polystyrene‐b‐poly(N‐isopropylacrylamide) (PS‐b‐PNIPAM) and two polystyrene‐b‐poly(ethylene oxide) diblock copolymers (PS‐b‐PEO) with different chain lengths of polystyrene in aqueous solution were prepared by adding the tetrahydrofuran solutions dropwise into an excess of water. The formation and stabilization of the resultant mixed micelles were characterized by using a combination of static and dynamic light scattering. Increasing the initial concentration of PS‐b‐PEO in THF led to a decrease in the size and the weight average molar mass (〈Mw〉) of the mixed micelles when the initial concentration of PS‐b‐ PNIPAM was kept as 1 × 10?3 g/mL. The PS‐b‐PEO with shorter PS block has a more pronounced effect on the change of the size and 〈Mw〉 than that with longer PS block. The number of PS‐b‐PNIPAM in each mixed micelle decreased with the addition of PS‐b‐PEO. The average hydrodynamic radius 〈Rh〉 and average radius of gyration 〈Rg〉 of pure PS‐b‐PNIPAM and mixed micelles gradually decreased with the increase in the temperature. Both the pure micelles and mixed micelles were stable in the temperature range of 18 °C–39 °C. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part B: Polym Phys 48: 1168–1174, 2010  相似文献

This study synthesized thermo‐sensitive amphiphilic block‐graft PNiPAAm‐b‐(PαN3CL‐g‐alkyne) copolymers through ring‐opening polymerization of α‐chloro‐ε‐caprolactone (αClCL) with hydroxyl‐terminated macroinitiator poly(N‐isopropylacrylamide) (PNiPAAm), substituting pendent chlorides with sodium azide. This was then used to graft various kinds of terminal alkynes moieties by means of the copper‐catalyzed Huisgen's 1,3‐dipolar cycloaddition (“click” reaction). 1H NMR, FTIR, and gel permeation chromatography (GPC) was used to characterize these copolymers. The solubility of the block‐graft copolymers in aqueous media was investigated using turbidity measurement, revealing a lower critical solution temperature (LCST) in the polymers. These solutions showed reversible changes in optical properties: transparent below the LCST, and opaque above the LCST. The LCST values were dependant on the composition of the polymer. With critical micelle concentrations (CMCs) in the range of 2.04–9.77 mg L?1, the block copolymers formed micelles in the aqueous phase, owing to their amphiphilic characteristics. An increase in the length of hydrophobic segments or a decrease in the length of hydrophilic segments amphiphilic block‐graft copolymers produced lower CMC values. The research verified the core‐shell structure of micelles by 1H NMR analyses in D2O. Transmission electron microscopy was used to analyze the morphology of the micelles, revealing a spherical structure. The average size of the micelles was in the range of 75–145 nm (blank), and 105–190 nm (with drug). High drug entrapment efficiency and drug loading content were observed in the drug micelles. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem, 2011  相似文献

Classical molecular dynamics simulations were carried out to investigate the hydrophilic to hydrophobic transition of PNIPAM‐co‐PEGMA close to its lower critical solution temperature (LCST) in 1 M NaCl solution. PNIPAM‐co‐PEGMA is a copolymer of poly(N‐isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAM) and poly(ethylene glycol) methacrylate (PEGMA). The copolymer consists of 38 monomer units of NIPAM with two PEGMA chains attached to the PNIAPM backbone. The PNIPAM‐co‐PEGMA was observed to go through the hydrophilic?hydrophobic conformational change for simulations at temperature slightly above its LCST. Na+ ions were found to bind strongly and directly with amide O, even more strongly with the O atoms on PEGAMS chains, whereas Cl? ions only exhibit weak interaction with the polymer. Significantly a novel caged stable metal‐organic complex involving a Na+ ion coordinated by six O atoms from the copolymer was observed after the PNIPAM‐co‐PEGMA copolymer went through conformational transition to form a hydrophobic folded structure. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The addition of mixture of polystyrene‐b‐poly(N‐isopropylacrylamide) (PS‐b‐PNIPAM) and polystyrene homopolymer (h‐PS) in tetrahydrofuran dropwise into water leads to nanoparticles with a PS core and a thermally sensitive PNIPAM shell. The effects of the ratio of the homopolymer to copolymer and temperature on the formation and stabilization of the dispersion were investigated by using a combination of static and dynamic laser light scattering. PNIPAM shell continuously collapses as temperature increases in the range 20–40 °C. Such formed particles are stable even at temperatures much higher than lower critical solution temperature (LCST ~ 32 °C) of PNIPAM. Our results reveal that the area occupied per hydrophilic PNIPAM chain on the hydrophobic PS core remains nearly a constant regardless of the amount of h‐PS in the polymer mixture. This clearly indicates that the surface area occupied per hydrophilic group is a critical parameter for stabilizing particles dispersed in water. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
