In this paper, we establish rectifiability of the jump set of an S 1–valued conservation law in two space–dimensions. This conservation law is a reformulation of the eikonal equation and is motivated by the singular limit of a class of variational problems. The only assumption on the weak solutions is that the entropy productions are (signed) Radon measures, an assumption which is justified by the variational origin. The methods are a combination of Geometric Measure Theory and elementary geometric arguments used to classify blow–ups.?The merit of our approach is that we obtain the structure as if the solutions were in BV, without using the BV–control, which is not available in these variationally motivated problems. Geometric properties of shape functions of self-similar solution to the equation are studied, and q are positive numbers. These shapes-the solutions of the corresponding nonlinear ODE-are of very different nature. The properties usually depend on three critical values of q (1, 3/2 and 2). We analyze the well-posedness of the initial value problem for the dissipative quasi-geostrophic equations in the subcritical case. Mild solutions are obtained in several spaces with the right homogeneity to allow the existence of self-similar solutions. While the only small self-similar solution in the strong space is the null solution, infinitely many self-similar solutions do exist in weak- spaces and in a recently introduced [7] space of tempered distributions. The asymptotic stability of solutions is obtained in both spaces, and as a consequence, a criterion of self-similarity persistence at large times is obtained.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider mixed problems with a spacelike boundary derivative condition for semilinear wave equations with exponential nonlinearities in a quarter plane. Results similar to those obtained earlier by Caffarelli-Friedman for Cauchy problems and power nonlinearities are proved in the present situation, namely we show that solutions either are global or blow up on a spacelike curve. Weaker results are also obtained if the boundary vector field is tangent to the characteristic which leaves the domain in the future. In this paper we consider the Gross-Pitaevskii equation iu t = Δu + u(1 − |u|2), where u is a complex-valued function defined on , N ≥ 2, and in particular the travelling waves, i.e., the solutions of the form u(x, t) = ν(x 1ct, x 2, …, x N ), where is the speed. We prove for c fixed the existence of a lower bound on the energy of any non-constant travelling wave. This bound provides a non-existence result for non-constant travelling waves of fixed speed having small energy.  相似文献

 The combined quasineutral and relaxation time limit for a bipolar hydrodynamic model is considered. The resulting limit problem is a nonlinear diffusion equation describing a neutral fluid. We make use of various entropy functions and the related entropy productions in order to obtain strong enough uniform bounds. The necessary strong convergence of the densities is obtained by using a generalized version of the “div-curl” Lemma and monotonicity methods. In this paper, we restrict our attention to traveling wave solutions of a reaction-diffusion equation. Firstly we apply the Divisor Theorem for two variables in the complex domain, which is based on the ring theory of commutative algebra, to find a quasi-polynomial first integral of an explicit form to an equivalent autonomous system. Then through this first integral, we reduce the reaction-diffusion equation to a first-order integrable ordinary differential equation, and a class of traveling wave solutions is obtained accordingly. Comparisons with the existing results in the literature are also provided, which indicates that some analytical results in the literature contain errors. We clarify the errors and instead give a refined result in a simple and straightforward manner.   相似文献

We provide upper bounds for the number of integer solutions to the equation Q = 0, which lie in a box with sides of length 2B, as B → ∞.
