The Exterior Dirichlet Problem for the Biharmonic Equation: Solutions with Bounded Dirichlet Integral

We study the unique solvability of the Dirichlet problem for the biharmonic equation in the exterior of a compact set under the assumption that a generalized solution of this problem has a bounded Dirichlet integral with weight |x|^a. Depending on the value of the parameter ^a,a we prove uniqueness theorems or present exact formulas for the dimension of the solution space of the Dirichlet problem.     

Spike-layered Solutions of Singularly Perturbed Quasilinear Dirichlet Problems on Ball

We consider the singularly perturbed quasilinear Dirichlet problems of the form {-∈Δ_pu = f(u) in Ω u ≥ 0 in , u = 0 on ∂ Ω where Δ_pu = div(|Du|^{p-2}Du), p > 1, f is subcritical. ∈ > 0 is a small parameter and is a bounded smooth domain in R^N (N ≥ 2). When Ω = B_1 = {x; |x| < 1} is the unit ball, we show that the least energy solution is radially symmetric, the solution is also unique and has a unique peak point at origin as ∈ → 0.

A quasilinear equation of divergent type with singular data and singular coefficients is approximated by a net of equations of the same type with enough regular coefficients and data. Solutions of the net of equations are obtained by the classical methods. Known a priory estimates are improved so that a net of solutions can be considered as a solution in an appropriate algebra of generalized functions.     

Quadratic Extremal Problems on the Dirichlet Space

A class of quadratic extremal problems over the unit ball of the Dirichlet space is studied. Existence of extremal functions is established. The boundary regularity of solutions is determined in terms of the regularity of the underlying functional. It is further shown that the extremal functions are entire functions in a range of cases.

We obtain a remarkable result that for the class of equations under study, the only equations that admit such a series solution are transformable back onto the only known integrable equation within the class.     

Existence of Positive Solutions to Fourth Order Quasilinear Boundary Value Problems

In this paper, we generalize the fixed point theorem of cone expansion and compression of norm type to the theorem of functional type. As an application, the existence of positive solutions for some fourth-order beam equation boundary value problems is obtained.
