In this paper, we consider the general reaction–diffusion system proposed in Abdelmalek and Bendoukha (Nonlinear Anal., Real World Appl. 35:397–413, 2017) as a generalization of the original Lengyel–Epstein model developed for the revolutionary Turing-type CIMA reaction. We establish sufficient conditions for the global existence of solutions. We also follow the footsteps of Lisena (Appl. Math. Comput. 249:67–75, 2014) and other similar studies to extend previous results regarding the local and global asymptotic stability of the system. In the local PDE sense, more relaxed conditions are achieved compared to Abdelmalek and Bendoukha (Nonlinear Anal., Real World Appl. 35:397–413, 2017). Also, new extended results are achieved for the global existence, which when applied to the Lengyel–Epstein system, provide weaker conditions than those of Lisena (Appl. Math. Comput. 249:67–75, 2014). Numerical examples are used to affirm the findings and benchmark them against previous results.

A second order accurate method in the infinity norm is proposed for general three dimensional anisotropic elliptic interface problems in which the solution and its derivatives, the coefficients, and source terms all can have finite jumps across one or several arbitrary smooth interfaces. The method is based on the 2D finite element-finite difference (FE-FD) method but with substantial differences in method derivation, implementation, and convergence analysis. One of challenges is to derive 3D interface relations since there is no invariance anymore under coordinate system transforms for the partial differential equations and the jump conditions. A finite element discretization whose coefficient matrix is a symmetric semi-positive definite is used away from the interface; and the maximum preserving finite difference discretization whose coefficient matrix part is an M-matrix is constructed at irregular elements where the interface cuts through. We aim to get a sharp interface method that can have second order accuracy in the point-wise norm. We show the convergence analysis by splitting errors into several parts. Nontrivial numerical examples are presented to confirm the convergence analysis.  相似文献

A conforming and a nonconforming method for the approximationof the stationary 2-D convection-diffusion equation at highP?clet number are presented. In this paper, we discuss the superconvergence of mixed finite element methods for a semilinear elliptic control problem with an integral constraint. The state and costate are approximated by the order $k=1$ Raviart-Thomas mixed finite element spaces and the control variable is approximated by piecewise constant functions. Approximation of the optimal control of the continuous optimal control problem will be constructed by a projection of the discrete adjoint state. It is proved that this approximation has convergence order $h^{2}$ in $L^{\infty}$-norm. Finally, a numerical example is given to demonstrate the theoretical results.  相似文献

We give some general results on proper-biharmonic submanifolds of a complex space form and, in particular, of the complex projective space. These results are mainly concerned with submanifolds with constant mean curvature or parallel mean curvature vector field. We find the relation between the bitension field of the inclusion of a submanifold [`(M)]{\bar{M}} in \mathbbCPn{\mathbb{C}P^n} and the bitension field of the inclusion of the corresponding Hopf-tube in \mathbbS2n+1{\mathbb{S}^{2n+1}}. Using this relation we produce new families of proper-biharmonic submanifolds of \mathbbCPn{\mathbb{C}P^n}. We study the geometry of biharmonic curves of \mathbbCPn{\mathbb{C}P^n} and we characterize the proper-biharmonic curves in terms of their curvatures and complex torsions.  相似文献

Tensor truncation techniques are based on singular value decompositions. Therefore, the direct error control is restricted to $\ell ^{2}$ or $L^{2}$ norms. On the other hand, one wants to approximate multivariate (grid) functions in appropriate tensor formats in order to perform cheap pointwise evaluations, which require $\ell ^{\infty }$ or $L^{\infty }$ error estimates. Due to the huge dimensions of the tensor spaces, a direct estimate of $\left\| \cdot \right\| _{\infty }$ by $\left\| \cdot \right\| _{2}$ is hopeless. In the paper we prove that, nevertheless, in cases where the function to be approximated is smooth, reasonable error estimates with respect to $\left\| \cdot \right\| _{\infty }$ can be derived from the Gagliardo–Nirenberg inequality because of the special nature of the singular value decomposition truncation.  相似文献

We discuss several characterizations of the \(A_\infty \) class of weights in the setting of general bases. Although they are equivalent for the usual Muckenhoupt weights, we show that they can give rise to different classes of weights for other bases.
