Some 1,1′‐(dicarbohydrazono) ferrocenes have been prepared by condensing 1,1′‐diacetylferrocene with either 2‐furoic hydrazide, 2‐thiophenecarboxylic hydrazide or 2‐salicylic hydrazide. All the ligands synthesized were characterized by IR and NMR spectroscopy and elemental analysis data (carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen) and then were used as ligands to react with cobalt(II), copper(II), nickel(II) and zinc(II) metals as chlorides to afford metal complexes having the general formula M(L)Cl2. IR and electronic spectral data, magnetic moment and elemental analyses were used in the structural investigation of the metal complexes synthesized. The ligands synthesized and their metal(II) complexes have been screened for their in vitro antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Proteus mirabilis, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Salmonella typhi, Shigella dysenteriae, Bacillus cereus, Corynebacterium diphtheriae, Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pyogenes bacterial strains and for in vitro antifungal activity against Trichophyton longifusus, Candida albicans, Aspergillus flavus, Microsporum canis, Fusarium solani and Candida glabrata. The results of these studies show the metal complexes to be more antibacterial and antifungal than the uncomplexed ligands. However, the potency of all the ligands synthesized and their metal complexes was lower than that of the standard drugs. Copyright © 2005 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Some new asymmetric 1,1 ′‐disubstituted ferrocene‐derived Schiff‐bases have been prepared and used as ligands in the preparation of their Co(II), Cu(II), Ni(II) and Zn(II) metal chelates. These synthesized ligands and their metal chelates have been characterized by their physical, analytical and spectral data. These have also been used for screening against pathogenic bacterial species, e.g. Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Klebsiella pneumonae and have been found to be a novel class of organometallic‐based antibacterials. Condensation reactions of 1,1′‐diacetylferrocene with ethanolamine were studied. The obtained compounds were further investigated for their ligation and biological properties with Co(II), Cu(II), Ni(II) and Zn(II) metal ions. The synthesized compounds were characterized by their physical, spectral and analytical properties and screened for their antibacterial properties against pathogenic bacterial strains, e.g. Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Bacillus subtilis, Staphylococcus aureus and Salmonella typhi and for antifungal activity against Trichophyton longifusus, Candida albicans, Aspergillus flavus, Microsporum canis, Fusarium solani and Candida glaberata using the agar‐well diffusion method. All the compounds have shown good antibacterial and antifungal activity, which increased on coordination with the metal ions, thus introducing a potential class of organometallic‐based antibacterial and antifungal agents. Brine shrimp bioassay was also carried out for in vitro cytotoxic properties against Artemia salina. Copyright © 2007 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

In the title compound, catena‐poly[[[N,N′‐bis(pyridin‐3‐ylmethyl)‐[1,1′‐biphenyl]‐4,4′‐dicarboxamide]chloridozinc(II)]‐μ‐[1,1′‐biphenyl]‐4,4′‐dicarboxylato‐[[N,N′‐bis(pyridin‐3‐ylmethyl)‐[1,1′‐biphenyl]‐4,4′‐dicarboxamide]chloridozinc(II)]‐μ‐[N,N′‐bis(pyridin‐3‐ylmethyl)‐[1,1′‐biphenyl]‐4,4′‐dicarboxamide]], [Zn2(C14H8O4)Cl2(C26H22N4O2)3]n, the ZnII centre is four‐coordinate and approximately tetrahedral, bonding to one carboxylate O atom from a bidentate bridging dianionic [1,1′‐biphenyl]‐4,4′‐dicarboxylate ligand, to two pyridine N atoms from two N,N′‐bis(pyridin‐3‐ylmethyl)‐[1,1′‐biphenyl]‐4,4′‐dicarboxamide ligands and to one chloride ligand. The pyridyl ligands exhibit bidentate bridging and monodentate terminal coordination modes. The bidentate bridging pyridyl ligand and the bridging [1,1′‐biphenyl]‐4,4′‐dicarboxylate ligand both lie on special positions, with inversion centres at the mid‐points of their central C—C bonds. These bridging groups link the ZnII centres into a one‐dimensional tape structure that propagates along the crystallographic b direction. The tapes are interlinked into a two‐dimensional layer in the ab plane through N—H...O hydrogen bonds between the monodentate ligands. In addition, the thermal stability and solid‐state photoluminescence properties of the title compound are reported.  相似文献

A new polyester, poly‐(ethylene oxamide‐N,N′‐diacetate) (PEODA), containing glycine moiety was synthesized by the reaction of oxamide‐N,N′‐diacetic acid and ethylene glycol and its polymer–metal complexes were synthesized with transition metal ions. The monomer oxamide‐N,N′‐diacetic acid was prepared by the reaction of glycine and diethyl oxalate. The polymer and its metal complexes were characterized by elemental analysis and other spectroscopic techniques. The in vitro antibacterial activities of all the synthesized polymers were investigated against some bacteria and fungi. The analytical data revealed that the coordination polymers of Mn(II), Co(II) and Ni(II) are coordinated with two water molecules, which are further supported by FTIR spectra and TGA data. The polymer–metal complexes showed excellent antibacterial activities against both types of microorganisms; the polymeric ligand was also found to be effective but less so than the polymer–metal complexes. On the basis of the antimicrobial behavior, these polymers may be used as antifungal and antifouling coating materials in fields like life‐saving medical devices and the bottoms of ships. A series of novel 4″‐methyl‐2,2″‐diaryl‐4,2′:4′,5″‐terthiazole ( 8a‐p ) derivatives has been synthesized and screened for antibacterial activity against four pathogenic bacteria, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas flurescence, Staphylococcus aureus, and Bacillus subtilis. Among them, compounds 8a and 8j exhibited excellent antibacterial activity with minimum inhibitory concentration range of 1.0 to 5.3 μg/mL and compounds 8m and 8p exhibited moderate to good antibacterial activity with minimum inhibitory concentration range of 16.9 to 29.7 μg/mL against all tested strains. All the synthesized compounds were screened for their in vitro antifungal activity against Cocinida candida. Most of the compounds reported moderate antifungal activity. This study provides valuable directions to our ongoing endeavor of rationally designing more potent antimicrobial agent.  相似文献

The tetradentate Schiff base ligand (SB), N,N′‐bis‐(2‐mercaptophenylimine)‐2,5‐thiophenedicarboxaldehyde was prepared via condensation of 2,5‐thiophene‐dicarboxaldehyde with 2‐aminothiophenol in a 1:2 molar ratio by conventional method. Additionally, its Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II) complexes have been synthesized and fully characterized by elemental analysis, FT‐IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, UV–Vis, ESR, ESI‐mass, conductivity and magnetic susceptibility measurements. Spectral studies suggested that, the Schiff base coordinate metal ions through the azomethine N‐ and deprotonated thiol S‐ atoms. Based on UV–Vis absorption and magnetic susceptibility data, tetrahedral geometry was assigned for both Co(II) and Zn(II) complexes, whereas on the other hand, square planar geometry for both Ni(II) and Cu(II) complexes. The Schiff base and its metal complexes were screened for their in vitro antimicrobial activity by minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) method. Free radical scavenging activity of the novel compounds was determined by elimination of 2,2‐diphenyl‐1‐picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radicals. In addition, the interactions of the free ligand and its complexes with calf thymus DNA (CT‐DNA) were explored using absorption, emission and viscosity measurements techniques.  相似文献

Crystal structures are reported for four (2,2′‐bipyridyl)(ferrocenyl)boronium derivatives, namely (2,2′‐bipyridyl)(ethenyl)(ferrocenyl)boronium hexafluoridophosphate, [Fe(C5H5)(C17H15BN2)]PF6, (Ib), (2,2′‐bipyridyl)(tert‐butylamino)(ferrocenyl)boronium bromide, [Fe(C5H5)(C19H22BN3)]Br, (IIa), (2,2′‐bipyridyl)(ferrocenyl)(4‐methoxyphenylamino)boronium hexafluoridophosphate acetonitrile hemisolvate, [Fe(C5H5)(C22H20BN3O)]PF6·0.5CH3CN, (IIIb), and 1,1′‐bis[(2,2′‐bipyridyl)(cyanomethyl)boronium]ferrocene bis(hexafluoridophosphate), [Fe(C17H14BN3)2](PF6)2, (IVb). The asymmetric unit of (IIIb) contains two independent cations with very similar conformations. The B atom has a distorted tetrahedral coordination in all four structures. The cyclopentadienyl rings of (Ib), (IIa) and (IIIb) are approximately eclipsed, while a bisecting conformation is found for (IVb). The N—H groups of (IIa) and (IIIb) are shielded by the ferrocenyl and tert‐butyl or phenyl groups and are therefore not involved in hydrogen bonding. The B—N(amine) bond lengths are shortened by delocalization of π‐electrons. In the cations with an amine substituent at boron, the B—N(bipyridyl) bonds are 0.035 (3) Å longer than in the cations with a methylene C atom bonded to boron. A similar lengthening of the B—N(bipyridyl) bonds is found in a survey of related cations with an oxy group attached to the B atom.  相似文献

A novel bi‐nucleating Schiff base ligand, 6,6′‐(((1E,1′E)‐thiophene‐2,5‐diylbis (methaneylylidene))bis (azaneylylidene))bis (3,4‐dimethylaniline), and five binuclear M (II) complexes were synthesized. The bi‐nucleating Schiff base ligand and its metal complexes were characterized using various physicochemical techniques, e.g. elemental analyses, spectroscopic methods, conductivity and magnetic moment measurements. The low molar conductance of the complexes in dimethylsulfoxide shows their non‐electrolytic nature. The antibacterial activities were screened against pathogenic bacteria (Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas putida and Bacillus subtilis). The antifungal activity was screened against Aspergillus niger, Aspergillus flavus and Rhizoctonia bataicola. The antimicrobial activity data showed that the metal complexes are more potent than the parent Schiff base ligand against microorganisms. The antioxidant activities of the synthesized compounds were investigated through scavenging activity against 2,2‐diphenyl‐2‐picrylhydrazyl, superoxide anion, hydroxyl and 2,2′‐ azinobis (3‐ethylbenzothiazoline‐6‐sulfonic acid) radicals. The complexes have superior radical scavenging activity than the free ligand and the scavenging effects of the Cu (II) complex are stronger than those of the other complexes. DNA binding studies were performed using electronic spectroscopy, fluorometric competition studies and viscosity measurements. The data indicated that there is a marked enhancement in biocidal activity of the ligand under similar experimental conditions because of coordination with metal ions.  相似文献

The crystal and molecular structures of bis(η5‐2,4,7‐trimethylindenyl)cobalt(II), [Co(C12H13)2], (I), and rac‐2,2′,4,4′,7,7′‐hexamethyl‐1,1′‐biindene, C24H26, (II), are reported. In the crystal structure of (I), the Co atom lies on an inversion centre and the structure represents the first example of a bis(indenyl)cobalt complex exhibiting an eclipsed indenyl conformation. The (1R,1′R) and (1S,1′S) enantiomers of the three possible stereoisomers of (II), which form as by‐products in the synthesis of (I), cocrystallize in the monoclinic space group P21/c. In the unit cell of (II), alternating (1R,1′R) and (1S,1′S) enantiomers pack in non‐bonded rows along the a axis, with the planes of the indenyl groups parallel to each other and separated by 3.62 and 3.69 Å.  相似文献

Ligands based on polycarboxylic acids are excellent building blocks for the construction of coordination polymers; they may bind to a variety of metal ions and form clusters, as well as extended chain or network structures. Among these building blocks, biphenyltetracarboxylic acids (H4bpta) with C 2 symmetry have recently attracted attention because of their variable bridging and multidentate chelating modes. The new luminescent three‐dimensional coordination polymer poly[(μ5‐1,1′‐biphenyl‐2,2′,4,4′‐tetracarboxylato)bis[μ2‐1,4‐bis(1H‐imidazol‐1‐yl)benzene]dizinc(II)], [Zn2(C16H6O8)(C12H10N4)]n , was synthesized solvothermally and characterized by single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction, elemental analysis and IR spectroscopy. The crystal structure contains two crystallographically independent ZnII cations. Both metal cations are located on twofold axes and display distorted tetrahedral coordination geometries. Neighbouring ZnII centres are bridged by carboxylate groups in the syn anti mode to form one‐dimensional chains. Adjacent chains are linked through 1,1′‐biphenyl‐2,2′,4,4′‐tetracarboxylate and 1,4‐bis(1H‐imidazol‐1‐yl)benzene ligands to form a three‐dimensional network. In the solid state, the compound exhibits blue photoluminescence and represents a promising candidate for a thermally stable and solvent‐resistant blue fluorescent material.  相似文献

The reactivity of square planar palladium(II) and platinum(II) complexes in trans or cis configuration, namely trans or cis‐[dichlorobis(tributylphosphine)platinum(II)] and trans‐[dichlorobis(tributylphosphine)palladium(II)] with 1,1′‐bis(ethynyl) 4,4′‐biphenyl, DEBP, leading to π‐conjugated organometallic oligomeric and polymeric metallaynes, was investigated by a systematic variation of the reaction conditions. The formation of polymers and oligomers with defined chain length [? M(PBu3)2 (C?C? C6H4? C6H4? C?C? )]n (n = 3–10 for the oligomers, n = 20–50 for the polymers) depends on the configuration of the precursor Pt(II) and Pd(II) complexes, the presence/absence of the catalyst CuI, and the reaction time. A series of model reactions monitored by XPS, GPC, and NMR 31P spectroscopy showed the route to modulate the chain growth. As expected, the nature of the transition metal (Pt or Pd) and the molecular weight of the polymers markedly influence the photophysical characteristics of the polymetallaynes, such as optical absorption and emission behavior. Polymetallaynes with nanostructured morphology could be obtained by a simple casting procedure of polymer solutions. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. 4′‐Cyanophenyl‐2,2′:6′,2′′‐terpyridine (cptpy) was employed as an N,N′,N′′‐tridentate ligand to synthesize the compounds bis[4′‐(4‐cyanophenyl)‐2,2′:6′,2′′‐terpyridine]cobalt(II) bis(tetrafluoridoborate) nitromethane solvate, [CoII(C22H14N4)2](BF4)2·CH3NO2, (I), and bis[4′‐(4‐cyanophenyl)‐2,2′:6′,2′′‐terpyridine]cobalt(III) tris(tetrafluoridoborate) nitromethane sesquisolvate, [CoIII(C22H14N4)2](BF4)3·1.5CH3NO2, (II). In both complexes, the cobalt ions occupy a distorted octahedral geometry with two cptpy ligands in a meridional configuration. A greater distortion from octahedral geometry is observed in (I), which indicates a different steric consequence of the constrained ligand bite on the CoII and CoIII ions. The crystal structure of (I) features an interlocked sheet motif, which differs from the one‐dimensional chain packing style present in (II). The lower dimensionality in (II) can be explained by the disturbance caused by the larger number of anions and solvent molecules involved in the crystal structure of (II). All atoms in (I) are on general positions, and the F atoms of one BF4 anion are disordered. In (II), one B atom is on an inversion center, necessitating disorder of the four attached F atoms, another B atom is on a twofold axis with ordered F atoms, and the C and N atoms of one nitromethane solvent molecule are on a twofold axis, causing disorder of the methyl H atoms. This relatively uncommon study of analogous CoII and CoIII complexes provides a better understanding of the effects of different oxidation states on coordination geometry and crystal packing.  相似文献

The crystal structures of the title compounds, alternatively called 2,2′‐(2,2′‐biimidazole‐1,1′‐diyl)diacetohydrazide monohydrate, C10H14N8O2·H2O, (I), and 3,3′‐(2,2′‐biimidazole‐1,1′‐diyl)dipropionohydrazide, C12H18N8O2, (II), respectively, have been determined. The molecules consist of half‐molecule asymmetric units related by a twofold rotation in (I) and by a center of inversion in (II). The imidazole rings of both molecules crystallize in a nearly coplanar fashion [dihedral angles of 5.91 (3) and 0.0 (1)° for (I) and (II), respectively]. Both planar hydrazinocarbonylalkyl substituents are essentially planar and assume the E orientation.  相似文献

Three ferrocenyl Schiff bases containing a phenol moiety have been formed by 1:1 molar condensation of acetylferrocene with 2‐aminophenol, 2‐amino‐5‐picoline or 2‐amino‐5‐chlorophenol. These ligands form 2:1 complexs with cobalt(II), copper(II), nickel(II), and zinc(II) ions. From the different spectral data, it was found that coordination of the ligands with the metal ions takes place via the azomethine nitrogen atoms and the deprotonated oxygen of the phenol groups. These ligands and their complexes have been characterized by IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, UV–Vis spectra, and elemental analysis. The spectral data of the ligands and their complexes are discussed in connection with the structural changes due to complexation. The complexes prepared showed good antimicrobial activity against Escherichia coli, Bacillus subtilus, and Candida albicans. Copyright © 2004 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

The design of new organic–inorganic hybrid ionic materials is of interest for various applications, particularly in the areas of crystal engineering, supramolecular chemistry and materials science. The monohalogenated intermediates 1‐(2‐chloroethyl)pyridinium chloride, C5H5NCH2CH2Cl+·Cl, (I′), and 1‐(2‐bromoethyl)pyridinium bromide, C5H5NCH2CH2Br+·Br, (II′), and the ionic disubstituted products 1,1′‐(ethylene‐1,2‐diyl)dipyridinium dichloride dihydrate, C12H14N22+·2Cl·2H2O, (I), and 1,1′‐(ethylene‐1,2‐diyl)dipyridinium dibromide, C12H14N22+·2Br, (II), have been isolated as powders from the reactions of pyridine with the appropriate 1,2‐dihaloethanes. The monohalogenated intermediates (I′) and (II′) were characterized by multinuclear NMR spectroscopy, while (I) and (II) were structurally characterized using powder X‐ray diffraction. Both (I) and (II) crystallize with half the empirical formula in the asymmetric unit in the triclinic space group P. The organic 1,1′‐(ethylene‐1,2‐diyl)dipyridinium dications, which display approximate C2h symmetry in both structures, are situated on inversion centres. The components in (I) are linked via intermolecular O—H…Cl, C—H…Cl and C—H…O hydrogen bonds into a three‐dimensional framework, while for (II), they are connected via weak intermolecular C—H…Br hydrogen bonds into one‐dimensional chains in the [110] direction. The nucleophilic substitution reactions of 1,2‐dichloroethane and 1,2‐dibromoethane with pyridine have been investigated by ab initio quantum chemical calculations using the 6–31G** basis. In both cases, the reactions occur in two exothermic stages involving consecutive SN2 nucleophilic substitutions. The isolation of the monosubstituted intermediate in each case is strong evidence that the second step is not fast relative to the first.  相似文献

A new series of 1‐(5‐(benzylsulfinyl)‐3‐methyl‐1,3,4‐thiadiazol‐2(3H)‐ylidene)‐thiourea/urea derivatives ( 1a – j ) were designed and synthesized. For the first time, (i) a new process was developed for N‐methylation of 1,3,4‐thiadiazole moiety using dimethyl carbonate an environmentally benign reagent in presence of N,N,N′,N‐tetramethylethylenediamine and (ii) the sulfide was selectively oxidized to sulfoxide in higher yield by using chlorine (g) in aqueous acetic acid media under mild reaction condition. The synthesized compounds ( 1a – j ) were investigated for their antimicrobial activities. The tested compounds ( 1a – j ) were exhibited moderate to excellent antibacterial activities against both Gram‐positive and Gram‐negative bacterial strains. The same compounds exhibited good antifungal activities against selected fungal strains. Particularly, the compounds 1b , 1d , 1h , and 1i were proved to be promising leads exhibiting both antibacterial and antifungal activities compared with standard drugs, ciprofloxacin, and fluconazole. The presence of 1,3,4‐thiadiazole moiety has a significant role in the display of antimicrobial activity. In addition, the presence of both sulfinyl and thiourea or urea functionalities has enhanced the activity as per obtained antimicrobial activity data.  相似文献

In dimethylformamide containing tetramethylammonium tetrafluoroborate, cyclic voltammograms for reduction of 4,4′‐(2,2,2‐trichloroethane‐1,1‐diyl)bis(chlorobenzene) (DDT) at a glassy carbon cathode exhibit five waves, whereas three waves are observed for the reduction of 4,4′‐(2,2‐dichloroethane‐1,1‐diyl)bis(chlorobenzene) (DDD). Bulk electrolyses of DDT and DDD afford 4,4′‐(ethene‐1,1‐diyl)bis(chlorobenzene) (DDNU) as principal product (67–94%), together with 4,4′‐(2‐chloroethene‐1,1‐diyl)bis(chlorobenzene) (DDMU), 1‐chloro‐4‐styrylbenzene, and traces of both 1,1‐diphenylethane and 4,4′‐(ethane‐1,1‐diyl)bis(chlorobenzene) (DDO). For electrolyses of DDT and DDD, the coulometric n values are essentially 4 and 2, respectively. When DDT is reduced in the presence of a large excess of D2O, the resulting DDNU and DDMU are almost fully deuterated, indicating that reductive cleavage of the carbon–chlorine bonds of DDT is a two‐electron process that involves carbanion intermediates. A mechanistic scheme is proposed to account for the formation of the various products.  相似文献

A novel tetradentate dianionic Schiff base ligand, N ,N ′‐bis(2‐carboxyphenylimine)‐2,5‐thiophenedicarboxaldhyde (H2L) and some first row d‐transition metal chelates (Co(II), Cu(II), Ni(II) and Zn(II)) were synthesized and characterized using various physicochemical and spectroscopic methods. The spectroscopic data suggested that the parent Schiff base ligand coordinates through both deprotonated carboxylic oxygen and imine nitrogen atoms. The free Schiff base and its metal chelates were screened for their antimicrobial activities for various pathogenic bacteria and fungi using the agar well diffusion method. The antibacterial and antifungal activities of all the newly synthesized compounds are significant compared to the standard drugs ciprofloxacin and nystatin. The antioxidant activities of the compounds were determined by reduction of 1,1‐diphenyl‐2‐picrylhydrazyl and compared with that of vitamin C as a standard. DNA binding ability of the novel Schiff base and its complexes was investigated using absorption spectroscopy, fluorescence spectroscopy, viscosity measurements and thermal denaturation. The obtained results clearly demonstrate that the binding affinity with calf thymus DNA follows the order: Cu(II) complex > Ni(II) complex > Zn(II) complex > Co(II) complex >H2L. Furthermore, the DNA cleavage activity of the newly synthesized ligand and its metal complexes was investigated using supercoiled plasmid DNA (pUC18) gel electrophoresis.  相似文献
