In this paper we consider spaces of sequences which are valued in a topological space E and study generalized backward shifts associated to certain selfmappings of E. We characterize their universality in terms of dynamical properties of the underlying selfmappings. Applications to hypercyclicity theory are given. In particular, Rolewicz's theorem on hypercyclicity of scalar multiples of the classical backward shift is extended.  相似文献

In this paper, we prove that the β-transformations are chaotic in the sense of both Li-Yorke and Devaney. The topological and metric properties of the sets of points with dense or non-dense orbits are investigated. We also prove the result that the set of points with non-dense orbits under the β-transformation is of full Hausdorff dimension for any β>1.  相似文献

Assume that XR?Q, and each clopen-valued lower semicontinuous multivalued map has a continuous selection . Our main result is that in this case, X is a σ-space. This work is concerned with dynamical systems in presence of symmetries and reversing symmetries. We describe a construction process of subspaces that are invariant by linear Γ-reversible-equivariant mappings, where Γ is the compact Lie group of all the symmetries and reversing symmetries of such systems. These subspaces are the σ-isotypic components, first introduced by Lamb and Roberts in (1999) [10] and that correspond to the isotypic components for purely equivariant systems. In addition, by representation theory methods derived from the topological structure of the group Γ, two algebraic formulae are established for the computation of the σ-index of a closed subgroup of Γ. The results obtained here are to be applied to general reversible-equivariant systems, but are of particular interest for the more subtle of the two possible cases, namely the non-self-dual case. Given an arbitrarily weak notion of left-〈f〉f-porosity and an arbitrarily strong notion of right-〈g〉g-porosity, we construct an example of closed subset of RR which is not σ  -left-〈f〉f-porous and is right-〈g〉g-porous. We also briefly summarize the relations between three different definitions of porosity controlled by a function; we then observe that our construction gives the example for any combination of these definitions of left-porosity and right-porosity.  相似文献

We present a systematic study of asymptotic behaviour of (generalised) ζ-functions and heat kernels used in noncommutative geometry and clarify their connections with Dixmier traces. We strengthen and complete a number of results from the recent literature and answer (in the affirmative) the question raised by M. Benameur and T. Fack (2006) [1].  相似文献

Given a Zp-extension of number fields K/K and a GK-module A which is cofree as a Zp-module, we can define a Selmer group SA(K). If A satisfies certain ordinariness conditions, then SA(K) is a cofinitely generated, cotorsion Λ-module. In this paper, we study the effect that finite submodules of A can have on the μ-invariant of SA(K). For each finite submodule αA, we use the Galois cohomology of α to define an invariant δ(α) which is a lower bound for μ(SA(K). Then we define an invariant m(A) that organizes the information that we get from all of the finite αA. These invariants will lead to an elegant way of explaining some previously known examples where the μ-invariant is positive and they will provide us with new kinds of examples where μ is positive.  相似文献

A class of hyperelliptic integrals are expressed through hypergeometric functions, like those of Gauss, Lauricella and Appell, namely multiple power series. Whenever they can on their own be reduced to elliptic integrals through an algebraic transformation, we obtain a two-fold representation of the same mathematical object, and then several completely new π determinations through the above special functions and/or Euler integrals. All our π formulae have been successfully tested by means of convenient Mathematica®'s packages and enter in a wide historical/sound context of π-formulae quite far from being exhausted. Due to their structure, the formulae's practical value does not lie in computing π, but in allowing, through π, a benchmark for computing the involved special functions, particularly those less elementary.

Let κQnt be the category of κ-quantales, quantales closed under κ-joins in which the monoid identity is the largest element. (κ is an infinite regular cardinal.) Although the lack of lattice completeness in this setting would seem to mitigate against the techniques which lend themselves so readily to the calculation of frame quotients, we show how to easily compute κQnt quotients by applying generalizations of the frame techniques to suitable extensions of this category.The second major tool in the analysis is the free κ-quantale over a λ-quantale, κ?λ. Surprisingly, these can be characterized intrinsically, and the generating sub-κ-quantale can even be identified. The result that the λ-free κ-quantales coincide with the λ-coherent κ-quantales directly generalizes Madden?s corresponding result for κ-frames.These tools permit a direct and intuitive construction of κQnt colimits. We provide two applications: an intrinsic characterization of κQnt colimits, and of free (over sets) κ-quantales. The latter is a direct generalization of Whitman?s condition for distributive lattices.  相似文献

We investigate the dynamical properties of a skew product transformation Tφ on [0,1)×G defined by Tφ(x,g)=(Tx,gφ(x)) where T is the β-transformation for β?2 and φ(x) is a compact group G-valued step function with a finite number of discontinuities. We give several sufficient conditions for ergodicity and strong mixing of Tφ. As an application, we describe a class of step functions which satisfy the Central Limit Theorem for the β-transformations. As another application, we also consider a class of skew product transformations Tβ,a,w on [0,1)×[0,1) which maps where a,wR and give necessary and sufficient conditions for ergodicity and strong mixing.  相似文献

We introduce the notion of δ-invariant for curvature-like tensor fields and establish optimal general inequalities in case the curvature-like tensor field satisfies some algebraic Gauss equation. We then study the situation when the equality case of one of the inequalities is satisfied and prove a dimension and decomposition theorem. In the second part of the paper, we apply these results to definite centroaffine hypersurfaces in Rn+1. The inequality is specified into an inequality involving the affine δ-invariants and the Tchebychev vector field. We show that if a centroaffine hypersurface satisfies the equality case of one of the inequalities, then it is a proper affine hypersphere. Furthermore, we prove that if a positive definite centroaffine hypersurface in , satisfies the equality case of one of the inequalities, it is foliated by ellipsoids. And if a negative definite centroaffine hypersurface satisfies the equality case of one of the inequalities, then it is foliated by two-sheeted hyperboloids. Some further applications of the inequalities are also provided in this article.  相似文献

In this paper we initiate the study of the ω-Turing reducibility between sequences of sets of natural numbers. We shall prove that the induced degree structure is an extension of the structure of the Turing degrees and that the two structures are closely connected, but different enough. Further we shall prove some definability results for the local theory of the newly defined structure.  相似文献

The present paper is concerned with the convergence problem of inexact Newton methods. Assuming that the nonlinear operator satisfies the γ-condition, a convergence criterion for inexact Newton methods is established which includes Smale's type convergence criterion. The concept of an approximate zero for inexact Newton methods is proposed in this paper and the criterion for judging an initial point being an approximate zero is established. Consequently, Smale's α-theory is generalized to inexact Newton methods. Furthermore, a numerical example is presented to illustrate the applicability of our main results.  相似文献
