All-optical noninvasive control of a multisection semiconductor laser by means of time-delayed feedback from an external Fabry-Perot cavity is realized experimentally. A theoretical analysis, in both a generic model as well as a device-specific simulation, points out the role of the optical phase. Using phase-dependent feedback we demonstrate stabilization of the continuous-wave laser output and noninvasive suppression of intensity pulsations.  相似文献

We present an analysis of time-delayed feedback control used to stabilize an unstable steady state of a neutral delay differential equation. Stability of the controlled system is addressed by studying the eigenvalue spectrum of a corresponding characteristic equation with two time delays. An analytic expression for the stabilizing control strength is derived in terms of original system parameters and the time delay of the control. Theoretical and numerical results show that the interplay between thecontrol strength and two time delays provides a number of regions in the parameter space where the time-delayed feedback control can successfully stabilize an otherwise unstable steady state.  相似文献

We examine the possibility of obtaining logic operation in a quartic-bistable system with linear time-delayed feedback subjected to Gaussian noise. The effect of time-delayed feedback on the effective potential well is investigated, and explicit numerical stimulation is conducted to study the influence of delay time and strength of the time-delayed feedback on the responses of the system. Although the response deteriorates slightly at low values of noise intensity with time-delayed feedback and the peak correct probability decreases from 100% when the delay time is too long, the reliability of obtaining the desired logic output is enhanced in the higher noise boundary with the help of moderate time-delayed feedback. We also found that increasing the linear factor of the system can shift the optimal noise intensity to a higher level.  相似文献

By studying laser diodes subject to multiple time-delayed optical feedback, we demonstrate that the signatures of time delays in the autocorrelation function of the laser output can be erased in systems incorporating modulated feedback time delays. This property enhances the suitability of such laser systems highly suitable for secure chaos-based communication systems. Chaos synchronization properties of a laser-based modulated multiple time-delayed system are also reported for the first time.  相似文献

The auto-correlation function and the cross-correlation of an autonomous stochastic system with nonlinear time-delayed feedback are investigated by using the stochastic simulation method. There are prominent differences between the roles of quadratic time-delayed feedback and cubic time-delayed feedback on the correlations of an autonomous stochastic system. Under quadratic time-delayed feedback, the nonlinear time delay fails to improve the noisy state of the autonomous stochastic system, the auto-correlation decreases monotonously to zero, and the cross-correlation increases monotonously to zero with the decay time. Under cubic time-delayed feedback, the nonlinear time delay can improve the noisy state of the autonomous stochastic system; the auto-correlation and the cross-correlation show periodical oscillation and attenuation, finally tending to zero with the decay time. Comparing the correlations of the system between with nonlinear time-delayed feedback and linear time-delayed feedback, we find that nonlinear time-delayed feedback lowers the correlation strength of the autonomous stochastic system.  相似文献

We study theoretically a bistable system with time-delayed feedback driven by a weak periodic force. The effective potential function and the steady-state probability density are derived. The delay time and the strength of its feedback can change the shapes of the potential wells. In the adiabatic approximation, the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of the system with a weak periodic force is obtained. The time-delayed feedback modulates the magnitude of SNR by changing the shape of the potential and the effective strength of the signal. The maximum of SNR decreases with increasing the feedback intensity ?. When ? is negative (or positive), the time delay can suppress (or promote) the stochastic resonance phenomenon.  相似文献

研究了时滞及时滞反馈控制参数对Van der Pol系统极限环幅值的影响. 运用自适应的平均场近似方法给出了系统的线性化近似及系统参数Lyapunov稳定性的边界条件, 同时给出了Van der Pol系统的关联时间和功率谱密度的数值模拟结果. 通过与平均场近似下的解析结果比较后发现, 数值模拟结果和理论结果符合.进一步讨论了时滞反馈控制参数、噪声强度以及时滞对关联时间和功率谱密度的影响. 关键词: 平均场近似 关联时间 Lyapunov稳定性  相似文献

This paper presents a spatiotemporal characterization of the dynamics of a single-mode semiconductor laser with optical feedback. I use the two-dimensional representation of a time-delayed system (where the delay time plays the role of a space variable) to represent the time evolution of the output intensity and the phase delay in the external cavity. For low feedback levels the laser output is generally periodic or quasiperiodic and with the 2D representation I obtain quasiperiodic patterns. For higher feedback levels the coherence collapsed regime arises, and in the 2D patterns the quasiperiodic structures break and "defects" appear. In this regime the patterns present features that resemble those of an extended spatiotemporally chaotic system. The 2D representation allows the recognition of two distinct types of transition to coherence collapse. As the feedback intensity grows the number of defects increases and the patterns become increasingly chaotic. As the delay time increases the number of defects in the patterns do not increase and there is a signature of the previous quasiperiodic structure that remains. The nature of the two transitions is understood by examining the behavior of various chaotic indicators (the field autocorrelation function, the Lyapunov spectrum, the fractal dimension, and the metric entropy) when the feedback intensity and the delay time vary. An autonomous stochastic system with nonlinear time-delayed feedback is investigated employing the stochastic simulation method. In the autonomous stochastic system with quadratic time-delayed feedback or under positive feedback, the nonlinear delay time fails to possess the role improving the noisy state of the system. In the autonomous stochastic system with cubic time-delayed feedback and under negative feedback, the nonlinear delay time can improve the noisy state, tuning the signal output, and generating incoherence and coherence maximization. We reveal a new kind of anti-coherence and coherence resonance phenomena induced by the nonlinear time delay in the autonomous stochastic system without external periodic force, discussing further the effects of the noise strength, the control parameter, and the feedback strength on anti-coherence and coherence resonance.  相似文献

利用电子线路实验实现了一个具有混沌和超混沌特性的二维离散系统以及延迟变量反馈和它的增强型的方法用于混沌和超混沌的控制.实验结果,包括控制前实验电路出现的各种复杂行为和控制后从实验中观测到的许多被稳定住的周期状态,与理论分析和数值计算的结果几乎完全一致.也证实了增强型延迟变量反馈法控制混沌和超混沌的有效性.  相似文献

In the paper,we study effects of scale-free (SF) topology on dynamical synchronization and control in coupled map lattices (CML).Our strategy is to apply three feedback control methods,including constant feedback and two types of time-delayed feedback,to a small fraction of network nodes to reach desired synchronous state.Two controlled bifurcation diagrams verses feedback strength are obtained respectively.It is found that the value of critical feedback strength γc for the first time-delayed feedback control is increased linearly as ε is increased linearly.The CML with SF loses synchronization and intermittency occurs if γ,>γc.Numerical examples are presented to demonstrate all results.  相似文献

Considering the time-delayed feedback and environmental perturbations in spin-crossover system, we construct a stochastic delayed differential equation to study the state transitions from the low spin (LS) state to the high spin (HS) state in spin-crossover solids. It is shown that the delayed feedback and noise can induce optical bistability and state transitions. The mean first-passage time (MFPT) of the transition from the LS state to the HS state as the function of the noise intensity exhibits a maximum, and the noise-enhanced stability is observed. However the MFPT decreases with increase of the delayed feedback intensity, thus the delayed feedback accelerates the conversion from the LS state to the HS state.  相似文献

This paper addresses the design problem of the controller with time-delayed acceleration feedback. On the basis of the reduction method and output state-derivative feedback, a time-delayed acceleration feedback controller is proposed. Stability boundaries of the closed-loop system are determined by using Hurwitz stability criteria. Due to the introduction of time delay into the controller with acceleration feedback, the proposed controller has the feature of not only changing the mass property but also altering the damping property of the controlled system in the sense of equivalent structural modification. With this feature, the closed-loop system has a greater logarithmic decrement than the uncontrolled one, and in turn, the control behavior can be improved. In this connection, the time delay in the acceleration feedback control is a positive factor when satisfying some given conditions and it could be actively utilized. On the ground of the analysis, the developed controller is implemented on a cantilever beam for different controller gain–delay combinations, and the control performance is evaluated with the comparison to that of pure acceleration feedback controller. Simulation and experimental results verify the ability of the controller to attenuate the vibration resulting from the dominant mode.  相似文献

We report on the experimental observation of coherence resonance in a bistable system with delay. Our system consists of a vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser subject to time-delayed optical feedback simultaneously from a long and from an extremely short external cavity. Coherence resonance is experimentally proven by analysis of the residence time distribution of the polarization mode-hopping regime and of the signal to noise ratio in the power spectrum.  相似文献

The multistability of a time-delayed feedback system can be used as an alternative for storing information. In this case the information is stored in various temporal patterns by controlling a chaotic system. The capability of storing information can be enhanced since more complex wave forms can be stored, each of which can be used as a memory unit. We showed numerically and experimentally this possibility in a hybrid diode laser system. We also showed that this method is robust to possible errors in the process of coding information.  相似文献
