We study conductance and adiabatic pumped charge and spin currents in a graphene quantum pump with Corbino geometry in the presence of an applied perpendicular magnetic field. Pump is driven by the periodic and out of phase modulations of the magnetic field and an electrostatic potential applied to the ring area of the pump. We show that Zeeman splitting, despite its smallness, suppresses conductance and pumped current oscillations at zero doping. Moreover, quite considerable spin conductance and pumped spin current are generated at low dopings due to Zeeman splitting. We find that pumped charge and spin currents increase by increasing the magnetic field, with small oscillations, until they are suppressed due to the effect of nonzero doping and Zeeman splitting.  相似文献

Photoluminescence spectra of strained structures Zn1 ? x Mn x Te/Zn1 ? y Mg y Te with magnetic quantum wells and nonmagnetic barriers are studied. The Zeeman splitting of the heavy exciton is found to follow an unusual behavior: both spin components shift down in energy. The heavy-exciton photoluminescence Zeeman components are observed to be inversely distributed in intensity, with the higher energy component being stronger than the lower energy component. The Zeeman splitting of the exciton in a magnetic field is calculated. The data obtained permit refinement of some parameters of the energy spectrum and magnetic properties of these structures.  相似文献

We analyze the transport through asymmetric double quantum dots with an inhomogeneous Zeeman splitting in the presence of crossed dc and ac magnetic fields.A strong spin-polarized current can be obtained by changing the dc magnetic field. It is mainly due to the resonant tunnelling. But for the ferromagnetic right electrode, the electron spin resonance also plays an important role in transport. We show that the double quantum dots with three-level mixing under crossed dc and ac magnetic fields can act not only as a bipolar spin filter but also as a spin inverter under suitable conditions.  相似文献

We study the spin edge states, induced by the combined effect of Bychkov-Rashba spinorbit and Zeeman interactions or of Dresselhaus spin-orbit and Zeeman interactions in a twodimensional electron system, exposed to a perpendicular quantizing magnetic field and restricted by a hard-wall confining potential. We derive an exact analytical formula for the dispersion relations of spin edge states and analyze their energy spectrum versus the momentum and the magnetic field. We calculate the average spin components and the average transverse position of electron. It is shown that by removing the spin degeneracy, spin-orbit interaction splits the spin edge states not only in the energy but also induces their spatial separation. Depending on the type of spin-orbit coupling and the principal quantum number, the Zeeman term in the combination with spin-orbit interaction increases or decreases essentially the splitting of bulk Landau levels while it has a weak influence on the spin edge states.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

We theoretically investigated the influences of the magnetic field and light polarisation on the electronic and optical properties of a GaAs/GaAlAs pseudo-elliptic quantum ring, modelled by an outer ellipsis and an inner circle, in the presence of the Rashba and Dresselhaus spin–orbit interactions and Zeeman effect. We show that Aharonov-Bohm oscillations of the energy spectrum are not affected by the presence of the Zeeman effect alone but, in the presence of Rashba and Dresselhaus spin–orbit couplings, the periodicity of certain levels becomes hardly definite. The Zeeman effect generally enhances/diminishes the separation levels produced by Rashba/Dresselhaus interactions (SOI) and when both types of SOI are considered, the effect depends on their relative strength. The magnetic field can trigger spin-flip for each type of spin–orbit interaction and Zeeman effect or their combination through anticrossings in the energy spectra. Our results reveal that the absorption spectra are very sensitive to the magnetic field and light polarisation. For all polarisations considered, the magnetic field increment leads to the redshift or blueshift of some particular peaks (an effect of this ring geometry) and a better separation of the peaks. The x-polarised light determines spectra with many small, but separated peaks while the circular polarised light leads to spectra with large peaks of high amplitude.  相似文献

We calculate the oscillations of the dc conductance across a mesoscopic ring, simultaneously tuned by applied magnetic and electric fields orthogonal to the ring. The oscillations depend on the Aharonov-Bohm flux and of the spin-orbit coupling. They result from mixing of the dynamical phase, including the Zeeman spin splitting, and of geometric phases. By changing the applied fields, the geometric phase contribution to the conductance oscillations can be tuned from the adiabatic (Berry) to the nonadiabatic (Ahronov-Anandan) regime. To model a realistic device, we also include nonzero backscattering at the connection between ring and contacts, and a random phase for electron wave function, accounting for dephasing effects.  相似文献

We present an exact diagonalization study of bilayer quantum Hall systems at filling factor nu = 2 in the spherical geometry. We find the high-Zeeman-coupling phase boundary of the broken symmetry canted antiferromagnet is given exactly by previous Hartree-Fock mean-field theories, but that the state's stability at weak Zeeman coupling has been qualitatively overestimated. In the absence of interlayer tunneling, degeneracies occur between total spin multiplets due to the Hamiltonian's invariance under independent spin rotations in top and bottom two-dimensional electron layers.  相似文献

The competition between the Zeeman energy and the Rashba and Dresselhaus spin-orbit couplings is studied for fractional quantum Hall states by including correlation effects. A transition of the direction of the spin polarization is predicted at specific values of the Zeeman energy. We show that these values can be expressed in terms of the pair-correlation function, and thus provide information about the microscopic ground state. We examine the particular examples of the Laughlin wave functions and the 5/2-Pfaffian state. We also include effects of the nuclear bath.  相似文献

We have investigated the mesoscopic transport through the system with a quantum dot (QD) side-coupled to a toroidal carbon nanotube (TCN) in the presence of spin-flip effect. The coupled QD contributes to the mesoscopic transport significantly through adjusting the gate voltage and Zeeman field applied to the QD. The compound TCN-QD microstructure is related to the separate subsystems, the applied external magnetic fields, as well as the combination of subsystems. The spin current component Izs is independent on time, while the spin current components Ixs and Iys evolve with time sinusoidally. The rotating magnetic field induces novel levels due to the spin splitting and photon absorption procedures. The suppression and enhancement of resonant peaks, and semiconductor-metal phase transition are observed by studying the differential conductance through tuning the source-drain bias and photon energy. The magnetic flux induces Aharonov-Bohm oscillation, and it controls the tunnelling behavior due to adjusting the flux. The Fano type of multi-resonant behaviors are displayed in the conductance structures by adjusting the gate voltage Vg and the Zeeman field applied to the QD.  相似文献

We investigate the linear conductance of a stripe of spin-orbit interaction in a 2D electron gas; that is, a 2D region of length l\ell along the transport direction and infinite in the transverse one in which a spin-orbit interaction of Rashba type is present. Polarization in the contacts is described by means of Zeeman fields. Our model predicts two types of conductance oscillations: Ramsauer oscillations in the minority spin transmission, when both spins can propagate, and Fano oscillations when only one spin propagates. The latter are due to the spin-orbit coupling with quasibound states of the non propagating spin. In the case of polarized contacts in antiparallel configuration Fano-like oscillations of the conductance are still made possible by the spin orbit coupling, even though no spin component is bound by the contacts. To describe these behaviors we propose a simplified model based on an ansatz wave function. In general, we find that the contribution for vanishing transverse momentum dominates and defines the conductance oscillations. Regarding the oscillations with Rashba coupling intensity, our model confirms the spin transistor behavior, but only for high degrees of polarization. Including a position dependent effective mass yields additional oscillations due to the mass jumps at the interfaces.  相似文献

Layered singlet paired superconductors with disorder and broken time reversal symmetry are studied, demonstrating a phase diagram with charge-spin separation in transport. In terms of the average intergrain transmission and the interlayer tunneling we find quantum Hall phases with spin Hall coefficients of sigma(spin)(xy)=0,2 separated by a spin metal phase. We identify a spin metal-insulator localization exponent as well as a spin conductivity exponent of approximately 0.96. In the presence of a Zeeman term an additional sigma(spin)(xy)=1 phase appears.  相似文献

We study the Kondo screening of a spin-1/2 magnetic impurity coupled to a superconductor, which is fabricated by combination of an s-wave superconductor, a ferromagnet and a semiconductor with Rashba spin—orbit coupling (RSOC). The proximity induced superconducting states include the s-wave and p-wave pairing components with the aids of RSOC, and the ferromagnet induces a Zeeman field which removes the spin degeneracy of the quasiparticles in the triplet states. Thus, the Kondo screening of magnetic impurity involves the orbital degrees of freedom, and is also affected by the Zeeman field. Using the variational method, we calculate the binding energy and the spin—spin correlation between the magnetic impurity and the electrons in the coexisting s-wave and p-wave pairing states. We find that Kondo singlet forms more easily with stronger RSOC, but Zeeman field in general decreases the binding energy. The spin—spin correlation decays fast in the vicinity of the magnetic impurity. Due to the RSOC, the spatial spin—spin correlation becomes highly anisotropic, and the Zeeman field can induce extra asymmetry to the off-diagonal components of the spin—spin correlation. Our study can offer some insights into the studies of extrinsic topological superconductors fabricated from the hybrid structures containing chains of magnetic impurities.  相似文献

The observed change in the phosphorescence decay of the spin-aligned triplet state of pyrazine at 1·6K upon application of a magnetic field is examined both experimentally and theoretically. Experimentally, the decay curve is resolved into the three decay components of the three triplet sublevels in the field range of 0–6000 G. Both the decay constants and the fraction of total initial intensity of each decay component are determined for each field strength. Theoretically, the observed change in the decay characteristics is assumed to be solely due to the Zeeman mixing of the zero-field levels in the absence of spin-lattice relaxation processes. This has the effect of distributing the radiative strength of the strongly radiative zero-field level among the other two weakly radiative zero field levels. A simple approximate calculation gives excellent and encouraging agreement with experimental quantities in the range of validity of the approximations made (below 1000 G). A rigorous calculation was then performed using the exact solution of the secular equation resulting from the Hamiltonian including the spin-spin and Zeeman interactions. Due to the difficulty in finding a host of known crystal structure in which pyrazine can dissolve substitutionally and uniquely, the comparison between theory and experiment is made using a polycrystalline sample. A special averaging procedure is used in calculating a theoretical decay curve for each magnetic field strength used. The theoretical decay curve is then decomposed into three components employing the same computer programme used for decomposing the experimental decay curve. The agreement between the observed and the more rigorous calculated decay quantities is excellent up to 2000 G, but observed disagreement appears above 3000 G and increases with field strength. The calculated lifetimes above 3000 G are found to be longer than the observed ones. The difference is due to other relaxation mechanisms at these high fields, for example, in spin-lattice relaxation processes between the Zeeman sublevels of the lowest triplet state.  相似文献

We show that in the metallic phase of a two dimensional electron gas the spin-orbit coupling due to structure inversion asymmetry leads to a characteristic anisotropy in the magnetoconductance. Within the assumption that the metallic phase can be described by a Fermi liquid, we compute the conductivity in the presence of an in-plane magnetic field. Both the spin-orbit coupling and the Zeeman coupling with the magnetic field give rise to two spin subbands, in terms of which most of the transport properties can be discussed. The strongest conductivity anisotropy occurs for Zeeman energies of the order of the Fermi energy corresponding to the depopulation of the upper spin subband. The energy scale associated with the spin-orbit coupling controls the strength of the effect. More in particular, we find that the detailed behavior and the sign of the anisotropy depends on the underlying scattering mechanism. Assuming small angle scattering to be the dominant scattering mechanism our results agree with recent measurement on Si-MOSFET's in the vicinity of the metal-insulator transition. We provide an alternative means of electric field control for spin manipulation in the absence of magnetic fields by transporting quantum dots adiabatically in the plane of two-dimensional electron gas. We show that the spin splitting energy of moving quantum dots is possible due to the presence of quasi-Hamiltonian that might be implemented to make the next generation spintronic devices of post CMOS technology. Such spin splitting energy is highly dependent on the material properties of semiconductor. It turns out that this energy is in the range of meV and can be further enhanced with increasing pulse frequency. In particular, we show that quantum oscillations in phonon mediated spin-flip behaviors can be observed. We also confirm that no oscillations in spin-flip behaviors can be observed for the pure Rashba or pure Dresselhaus cases.  相似文献

Magnetization measurements of Mn12 molecular nanomagnets with spin ground states of S=10 and S=19/2 show resonance tunneling at avoided energy level crossings. The observed oscillations of the tunnel probability as a function of the magnetic field applied along the hard anisotropy axis are due to topological quantum phase interference of two tunnel paths of opposite windings. Spin-parity dependent tunneling is established by comparing the quantum phase interference of integer and half-integer spin systems.  相似文献

Departing from classical concepts of ergodic theory, formulated in terms of probability densities, measures describing the mixing behavior and the loss of information in quantum open systems are proposed. As application we discuss the chaotic outcomes of continuous measurement processes in the EEQT framework. Simultaneous measurement of four noncommuting spin components is shown to lead to a chaotic jumps on the quantum spin sphere and to generate specific fractal images of a nonlinear iterated function system.  相似文献
