Let B(X) be the algebra of all bounded linear operators on an infinite dimensional complex Banach space X. We characterize linear surjective and continuous maps on B(X) preserving different local spectral quantities at a nonzero fixed vector.  相似文献

We study the short-time Fourier transformation, modulation spaces, Gabor representations and time-frequency localization operators, for functions and tempered distributions that have as range space a Banach or a Hilbert space. In the Banach space case the theory of modulation spaces contains some modifications of the scalar-valued theory, depending on the Banach space. In the Hilbert space case the modulation spaces have properties similar to the scalar-valued case and the Gabor frame theory essentially works. For localization operators in this context symbols are operator-valued. We generalize two results from the scalar-valued theory on continuity on certain modulation spaces when the symbol belongs to an Lp,q space and M, respectively. The first result is true for any Banach space as range space, and the second result is true for any Hilbert space as range space.  相似文献

Let B(X) be the algebra of all bounded linear operators on a complex Banach space X. We give the concrete form of every unital surjective map φ on B(X) such that AB is a non-zero idempotent if and only if φ(A)φ(B) is for all A,BB(X) when the dimension of X is at least 3.  相似文献

There exists a real hereditarily indecomposable Banach space X=X(C) (respectively X=X(H)) such that the algebra L(X)/S(X) is isomorphic to C (respectively to the quaternionic division algebra H).Up to isomorphism, X(C) has exactly two complex structures, which are conjugate, totally incomparable, and both hereditarily indecomposable. So there exist two Banach spaces which are isometric as real spaces but totally incomparable as complex spaces. This extends results of J. Bourgain and S. Szarek [J. Bourgain, Real isomorphic complex Banach spaces need not be complex isomorphic, Proc. Amer. Math. Soc. 96 (2) (1986) 221-226; S. Szarek, On the existence and uniqueness of complex structure and spaces with “few” operators, Trans. Amer. Math. Soc. 293 (1) (1986) 339-353; S. Szarek, A superreflexive Banach space which does not admit complex structure, Proc. Amer. Math. Soc. 97 (3) (1986) 437-444], and proves that a theorem of G. Godefroy and N.J. Kalton [G. Godefroy, N.J. Kalton, Lipschitz-free Banach spaces, Studia Math. 159 (1) (2003) 121-141] about isometric embeddings of separable real Banach spaces does not extend to the complex case. The quaternionic example X(H), on the other hand, has unique complex structure up to isomorphism; other examples with a unique complex structure are produced, including a space with an unconditional basis and non-isomorphic to l2. This answers a question of S. Szarek in [S. Szarek, A superreflexive Banach space which does not admit complex structure, Proc. Amer. Math. Soc. 97 (3) (1986) 437-444].  相似文献

After initial treatment of the Fourier analysis and operator ergodic theory of strongly continuous decomposable one-parameter groups of operators in the Banach space setting, we show that in the setting of a super-reflexive Banach space X these groups automatically transfer from the setting of R to X the behavior of the Hilbert kernel, as well as the Fourier multiplier actions of functions of higher variation on R. These considerations furnish one-parameter groups with counterparts for the single operator theory in Berkson (2010) [4]. Since no uniform boundedness of one-parameter groups of operators is generally assumed in the present article, its results for the super-reflexive space setting go well beyond the theory of uniformly bounded one-parameter groups on UMD spaces (which was developed in Berkson et al., 1986 [13]), and in the process they expand the scope of vector-valued transference to encompass a genre of representations of R that are not uniformly bounded.  相似文献

For X a compact Hausdorff topological space and F a strictly convex and reflexive Banach space we characterize the surjective isometries of certain subspaces of C(X, F). It follows from this characterization that surjective isometries on spaces of vector valued Lipschitz functions equipped with a p-norm are also weighted composition operators.  相似文献

We prove that weakly compact operators on a non-reflexive normed space cannot be bijective. We also show that, in the above result, bijectivity cannot be relaxed to surjectivity. Finally, we study the behaviour of surjective weakly compact operators on a non-reflexive normed space, when they are perturbed by small scalar multiples of the identity, and derive from this study the recent result of Spurný [A note on compact operators on normed linear spaces, Expo. Math. 25 (2007) 261–263] that compact operators on an infinite-dimensional normed space cannot be surjective.  相似文献

Abstract

We discuss the existence of a projection with kernel Kb(E,F) 1 (the annihilator of the quasi-compact operators) on the dual space of the space L b,(E, F) of continous linear operators. Our results are proved in the context of Hausdorff locally convex spaces, but also provide extensions of recent results in the context of Banach spaces.  相似文献

We consider differences of composition operators between given weighted Banach spaces H v or H 0 v of analytic functions defined on the unit polydisk D N with weighted sup-norms and give estimates for the distance of these differences to the space of compact operators. We also study boundedness and compactness of the operators. This paper is an extension of [6] where the one-dimensional case is treated. Received: May 15, 2007. Revised: October 8, 2007.  相似文献

w-Hyponormal Operators are Subscalar   总被引:4,自引:0,他引:4
We prove that if X is a Banach space, R, S B(X), then RS is subscalar (subdecomposable) if and only if SR is. As corollaries, it is shown that w-hyponormal operators (including p-hyponormal (p > 0) and log-hyponormal operators) and their Aluthge transformations and inverse Aluthge transformations are subscalar.  相似文献

Abstract

We prove that if X and Y are Banach spaces such that X* has the weak Radon-Nikodym property (WRNP), Y has the Radon-Nikodym property (RNP) and Y is complemented in its bidual, then the space N(X,Y) of all nuclear operators from X to Y has the WRNP. If moreover X* has the RNP, then N(X,Y) has the RNP.  相似文献

We introduce the arithmetic separation of a sequence—a geometric characteristic for bounded sequences in a Banach space which describes the Banach-Saks property. We define an operator seminorm vanishing for operators with the Banach-Saks property. We prove quantitative stability of the seminorm for a class of operators acting between l p -sums of Banach spaces. We show logarithmically convex-type estimates of the seminorm for operators interpolated by the real method of Lions and Peetre.   相似文献

Let L(X) be the algebra of all bounded linear operators on an infinite dimensional complex Banach space X. We characterize additive continuous maps from L(X) onto itself which compress the local spectrum and the convexified local spectrum at a nonzero fixed vector. Additive continuous maps from L(X) onto itself that preserve the local spectral radius at a nonzero fixed vector are also characterized.  相似文献

We consider multiparameter singular integrals and pseudodifferential operators acting on mixed-norm Bochner spaces Lp1,…,pN(Rn1×?×RnN;X) where X is a UMD Banach space satisfying Pisier's property (α). These geometric conditions are shown to be necessary. We obtain a vector-valued version of a result by R. Fefferman and Stein, also providing a new, inductive proof of the original scalar-valued theorem. Then we extend a result of Bourgain on singular integrals in UMD spaces with an unconditional basis to a multiparameter situation. Finally we carry over a result of Yamazaki on pseudodifferential operators to the Bochner space setting, improving the known vector-valued results even in the one-parameter case.  相似文献

We show that a continuous additive positively homogeneous map from a closed not necessarily proper cone in a Banach space onto a Banach space is an open map precisely when it is surjective. This generalization of the usual Open Mapping Theorem for Banach spaces is then combined with Michael's Selection Theorem to yield the existence of a continuous bounded positively homogeneous right inverse of such a surjective map; a strong version of the usual Open Mapping Theorem is then a special case. As another consequence, an improved version of the analogue of Andô's Theorem for an ordered Banach space is obtained for a Banach space that is, more generally than in Andô's Theorem, a sum of possibly uncountably many closed not necessarily proper cones. Applications are given for a (pre)-ordered Banach space and for various spaces of continuous functions taking values in such a Banach space or, more generally, taking values in an arbitrary Banach space that is a finite sum of closed not necessarily proper cones.  相似文献

In this paper we study C0-semigroups on X × Lp( − h, 0; X) associated with linear differential equations with delay, where X is a Banach space. In the case that X is a Banach lattice with order continuous norm, we describe the associated modulus semigroup, under minimal assumptions on the delay operator. Moreover, we present a new class of delay operators for which the delay equation is well-posed for p in a subinterval of [1,∞). Dedicated to the memory of H. H. Schaefer  相似文献

We prove two characterizations of new Cohen summing bilinear operators. The first one is: Let X, Y and Z be Banach spaces, 1 < p < ∞, V : X × Y → Z a bounded linear operator and n ≥ 2 a natural number. Then V is new Cohen p-summing if and only if for all Banach spaces X1,?…?, Xn and all p-summing operators U : X1 × · · · × XnX, the operator V ? (U, IY) : X1 × · · · × Xn × YZ is -summing. The second result is: Let H be a Hilbert space,, Y, Z Banach spaces and V : H × Y → Z a bounded bilinear operator and 1 < p < ∞. Then V is new Cohen p-summing if and only if for all Banach spaces E and all p-summing operators U : EH, the operator V ? (U, IY) is (p, p*)-dominated.  相似文献

Abstract

The r-asymptotically quasi finite rank operators were introduced in [10]. For regular operators on Banach lattices, these operators are the order theoretic analogue of Riesz operators on Banach spaces. We establish their basic properties and apply these in the spectral analysis of convolution operators.  相似文献

We investigate some subtle and interesting phenomena in the duality theory of operator spaces and operator algebras, and give several applications of the surprising fact that certain maps are always weak*-continuous on dual spaces. In particular, if X is a subspace of a C*-algebra A, and if aA satisfies aXX, then we show that the function x?ax on X is automatically weak* continuous if either (a) X is a dual operator space, or (b) a*XX and X is a dual Banach space. These results hinge on a generalization to Banach modules of Tomiyama's famous theorem on contractive projections onto a C*-subalgebra. Applications include a new characterization of the σ-weakly closed (possibly nonunital and nonselfadjoint) operator algebras, and a generalization of the theory of W*-modules to the framework of modules over such algebras. We also give a Banach module characterization of σ-weakly closed spaces of operators which are invariant under the action of a von Neumann algebra.  相似文献
