Three new phenyl‐substituted tris(8‐hydroxyquinoline)aluminum (AlQ3) derivatives have been synthesized: tris(5‐phenyl‐8‐quinolinolate‐N1,O8)aluminum, tris(5,7‐diphenyl‐8‐quinolinolate‐N1,O8)aluminum, and tris[5,7‐bis(p‐fluorophenyl)‐8‐quinolinolate‐N1,O8]aluminum. These AlQ3 derivatives are easily soluble in common organic solvents and form solid‐phase solutions in a poly(aryl ether ketone) host polymer (A435). These interesting properties allow the use of soluble AlQ3 derivatives in double spin‐coated organic light‐emitting devices of the type ITO/NPB‐QP/A435 + 50 wt % soluble AlQ3 derivative/Mg, where NPB‐QP is a hole‐transporting polymer insoluble in toluene, the solvent for A435. Typical double spin‐coated organic layer devices are characterized by an emission at 530–539 nm, a threshold voltage of 6–9 V, and a maximum luminance of 1800–4000 cd/m2 at 21–25 V. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Summary: Polymethacrylate having a pendent 8‐hydroxyquinoline moiety was prepared using Kelex‐100 (7‐(4‐ethyl‐1‐methyloctyl)‐8‐hydroxyquinoline) as a starting material. A soluble polymer having tris(8‐hydroxyquinolinato)aluminum (Al Q 3)‐type side chains was obtained through the complexation of the polymer with Me3Al in the presence of a monomeric Kelex‐100. The polymer complex was applied to an organic light‐emitting diode (OLED) device through a spin‐cast process.

Structure of the tris(8‐hydroxyquinolinato)aluminum‐type pendent group bound to polymethacrylate giving rise to the first soluble polymer of its kind.  相似文献

Aluminum and zinc complexes of 4‐substituted 8‐hydroxyquinoline were used effectively as emissive materials in light‐emitting diodes (LED). The substituents chosen in this study were p‐methoxy‐2‐styryl, p‐diethylamino‐2‐styryl, and naphthalene‐2‐vinyl groups. Their emission spectra were red‐shifted with respect to that of aluminum tris(hydroxylquinolate) (Alq3) as a result of extending their π‐conjugation. All complexes formed amorphous glasses, which exhibited high thermal and electrical stability. Typical LED devices were fabricated by mixing the dyes with polyvinylcarbazole and spin‐coated to form thin films, which were sandwiched between ITO (indium tin oxide) and a metal electrode. These devices displayed yellow‐orange emissions with quantum efficiency ca. 0.4%.  相似文献

A novel polymer P‐1 is prepared by the reaction of the monomer 5,5′‐divinyl‐2,2′‐bipyridine and Salen‐Zn(II) via Heck cross coupling. Interestingly, P‐1 can further incorporate with Eu(TTA)3·2H2O to generate copolymer P‐2 with two different metal centers. P‐2 exhibits exceptional dual emissive properties which can be tuned by excitation wavelength. For example, an orange fluorescence can be obtained when P‐2 is excited at 430 nm, whereas a red emission with a huge Stoke shift of 57 nm is observed when it is excited at 345 nm. The high wavelength emission can be attributed to Eu(III) (5D07F2), which is lit by an effective photoinduced energy transfer process between P‐1 and the Eu(TTA)3 complex. The properties of P‐2 have led to a better understanding of the energy transfer process between P‐1 and Eu(TTA)3 moieties.  相似文献

Red phosphorescent iridium(III) complexes based on fluorine‐, phenyl‐, and fluorophenyl‐substituted 2‐arylquinoline ligands were designed and synthesized. To investigate their electrophosphorescent properties, devices were fabricated with the following structure: indium tin oxide (ITO)/4,4′,4′′‐tris[2‐naphthyl(phenyl)amino]triphenylamine (2‐TNATA)/4,4′‐bis[N‐(1‐naphthyl)‐N‐phenylamino]biphenyl (NPB)/4,4′‐bis(N‐carbazolyl)‐1,1′‐biphenyl (CBP): 8 % iridium (III) complexes/bathocuproine (BCP)/tris(8‐hydroxyquinolinato)aluminum (Alq3)/8‐hydroxyquinoline lithium (Liq)/Al. All devices, which use these materials showed efficient red emissions. In particular, a device exhibited a saturated red emission with a maximum luminance, external quantum efficiency, and luminous efficiency of 14200 cd m?2, 8.44 %, and 6.58 cd A?1 at 20 mA cm?2, respectively. The CIE (x, y) coordinates of this device are (0.67, 0.33) at 12.0 V.  相似文献

Bis(2‐methyl‐8‐quinolinolato)aluminum(III) hydroxide complex (AlMq2OH) is used in organic light‐emitting diodes (OLEDs) as an electron transport material and emitting layer. By means of ab initio Hartree–Fock (HF) and density functional theory (DFT) B3LYP methods, the structure of AlMq2OH was optimized. The frontier molecular orbital characteristics and energy levels of AlMq2OH have been analyzed systematically to study the electronic transition mechanism in AlMq2OH. For comparison and calibration, bis(8‐quinolinolato)aluminum(III) hydroxide complex (Alq2OH) has also been examined with these methods using the same basis sets. The lowest singlet excited state (S1) of AlMq2OH has been studied by the singles configuration interaction (CIS) method and time‐dependent DFT (TD‐DFT) using a hybrid functional, B3‐LYP, and the 6‐31G* basis set. The lowest singlet electronic transition (S0 → S1) of AlMq2OH is π → π* electronic transitions and primarily localized on the different quinolate ligands. The emission of AlMq2OH is due to the electron transitions from a phenoxide donor to a pyridyl acceptor from another quinolate ligand including C → C and O → N transference. Two possible electron transfer pathways are presented, one by carbon, oxygen, and nitrogen atoms and the other via metal cation Al3+. The comparison between the CIS‐optimized excited‐state structure with the HF ground‐state structure indicates that the geometric shift is mainly confined to the one quinolate and these changes can be easily understood in terms of the nodal patterns of the highest occupied and lowest unoccupied molecular orbitals. On the basis of the CIS‐optimized structure of the excited state, TD‐B3‐LYP calculations predict an emission wavelength of 499.78 nm. An absorption wavelength at 380.79 nm on the optimized structure of B3LYP/6‐31G* was predicted. They are comparable to AlMq2OH 485 and 390 nm observed experimentally for photoluminescence and UV‐vis absorption spectra of AlMq2OH solid thin film on quartz, respectively. Lending theoretical corroboration to recent experimental observations and supposition, the reasons for the blue‐shift of AlMq2OH were revealed. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Synthesis of 2‐methyl‐3‐oxoindoline‐2‐carboxylates is developed using a bis(trimethylsilyl)aluminum chloride‐induced aza‐Brook rearrangement as a crucial step. Regarding the organoaluminum species, use of readily available tris(trimethylsilyl)aluminum·ether complex was not suitable for the present cyclization. After a series of examination of the reaction conditions, the aza‐Brook rearrangement and the subsequent cyclization with 2 equivalens of bis(trimethylsilyl)aluminum chloride were found to be the most effective. An application to the synthesis of a potential intermediate of duocarmycin A is also described, in which ozonolysis of the styrenyl moiety and the Barton–McCombie deoxygenation of the hydroxymethyl group were successfully carried out.  相似文献

Only a few cyclooctatetraene dianion (COT) π‐complexes of lanthanides have been crystallographically characterized. This first single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction characterization of a scandium(III) COT chloride complex, namely di‐μ‐chlorido‐bis[(η8‐cyclooctatetraene)(tetrahydrofuran‐κO )scandium(III)], [Sc2(C8H8)2Cl2(C4H8O)2] or [Sc(COT)Cl(THF)]2 (THF is tetrahydrofuran), (1), reveals a dimeric molecular structure with symmetric chloride bridges [average Sc—Cl = 2.5972 (7) Å] and a η8‐bound COT ligand. The COT ring is planar, with an average C—C bond length of 1.399 (3) Å. The Sc—C bond lengths range from 2.417 (2) to 2.438 (2) Å [average 2.427 (2) Å]. Direct comparison of (1) with the known lanthanide (Ln) analogues (La, Ce, Pr, Nd, and Sm) illustrates the effect of metal‐ion (M ) size on molecular structure. Overall, the M —Cl, M —O, and M —C bond lengths in (1) are the shortest in the series. In addition, only one THF molecule completes the coordination environment of the small ScIII ion, in contrast to the previously reported dinuclear Ln–COT–Cl complexes, which all have two bound THF molecules per metal atom.  相似文献

Heavy metal complexes exhibit high phosphorescent efficiency and have been used extensively for electrophosphorescent emitters in the past 16 years. In 2006, we initially reported the use of the popular ligand, 8‐hydroxyquinoline (Q) to coordinate with the heavy metal ions and obtained the red‐infrared phosphorescent emission. In this paper, 8‐hydroxyquinoline has been modified at the 5‐position by electron‐donating and attracting groups and platinum complexes based on 2‐phenylpyridine and 8‐hydroxyquinoline derivatives were synthesized. The electron‐withdrawing group CF 3 and NO 2 lowers the HOMO level of the Q ligand and results in a N^O centered enhanced red‐infrared phosphorescence emission. The complex with CF 3 modification exhibits the highest phosphorescence quantum yield in solid state with a life time of 1.17 μs.  相似文献

Two noble metal complexes involving ancillary chloride ligands and chelating 2,2′‐bipyridylamine (Hdpa) or its deprotonated derivative (dpa), namely [bis(pyridin‐2‐yl‐κN)amine]tetrachloridoplatinum(IV), [PtCl4(C10H9N3)], and [bis(pyridin‐2‐yl‐κN)aminido]dichloridogold(III), [AuCl2(C10H8N3)], are presented and structurally characterized. The metal atom in the former has a slightly distorted octahedral coordination environment, formed by four chloride ligands and two pyridyl N atoms of Hdpa, while the metal atom in the latter has a slightly distorted square‐planar coordination environment, formed by two chloride ligands and two pyridyl N atoms of dpa. The difference in conjugation between the pyridine rings in normal and deprotonated 2,2′‐dipyridylamine is discussed on the basis of the structural features of these complexes. The influence of weak interactions on the supramolecular structures of the complexes, providing one‐dimensional chains of [PtCl4(C10H9N3)] and dimers of [AuCl2(C10H8N3)], are discussed.  相似文献

The first europium(III) β‐diketonate complex functionalized polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (POSS) has been obtained by immobilization of such a complex at a silicon vertex of the POSS cage through the complexation of Eu3+ ions with thenoyltrifluoroacetone‐functionalized POSS. The new molecular hybrid material is liquid at room temperature, and shows bright‐red emission when irradiated with UV light due to energy transfer from the thenoyltrifluoroacetone ligand to the coordinated Eu3+ ions. Thermal analysis has revealed a significant improvement in the thermal stability of the material compared with tris(2‐thenoyltrifluoroacetonate)europium(III) dihydrate, [Eu(TTA)3] ? 2 H2O. In the context of recent advances in printable electronic technology, this novel luminescent organic liquid with the characteristic emission of Eu3+ may potentially be useful in the development of next‐generation organic devices such as flexible displays.  相似文献

A series of multilayer polymeric light‐emitting diodes (PLEDs) containing an electron‐transporting layer (ETL), that is tris(8‐quinolinolato)‐aluminum(III) (Alq) and 2,2′,2″‐(1,3,5‐phenylene)‐tris[1‐phenyl‐1H‐benzimidazole] (TPBI), were fabricated by doping fluorescent oligo(p‐phenylene‐vinylene)s (BIII and BV) and polymer derivatives (PBV) into poly(N‐vinyl carbazole) (PVK). These PLEDs can be optimized by the design of multilayer device configurations (brightness increased 8–15 times by addition of ETL) and possess greenish electroluminescent (EL) spectra peaked about 500–540 nm. A remarkably high brightness of 56,935 cd/m2 with a power efficiency of 3.25 lm/W was obtained in the device of PVK:BVOC8‐OC8 (100:20)/Alq (60 nm/60 nm). It suggests that the emission mechanism (including the conjugated and excimer emissions of BVOC8‐OC8 emitters) originates from both of BVOC8‐OC8 and ETL (Alq and TPBI) by varying the concentration of chromophores and adjusting the thickness of ETL. The concentration effect of the emitters in PVK (i.e. PVK:BVOC8‐OC8 = 100:5, 100:20, and 100:100 wt %) and the influence of the ETL (including its thickness) on the EL characteristics are also reported. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. An iridium(III) complex comprising three different cyclometalated phenylpyridine‐based ligands was designed and synthesized. Interestingly, mixed‐ligand complexes could be obtained by using a simple and straightforward procedure. A tris(heteroleptic) IrIII complex was obtained as a mixture of stereoisomers that could not be separated. Photophysical properties of the tris(heteroleptic) complex was investigated by UV/VIS absorption and luminescence spectroscopy, and compared with those of the parent homoleptic complexes. Modelling by time‐dependent density functional theory (TD‐DFT) was also performed to elucidate the nature and the location of the excited state, and to support the experimental results.  相似文献

In this article, the synthesis of a tris(8‐hydroxyquinoline)aluminum (AlQ3)‐containing poly(arylene ether) (4) is reported. The presence of AlQ3 pendants in polymer 4 is confirmed by NMR, ultraviolet–visible, photoluminescence, and gel permeation chromatography analyses. This is the first report of the attachment of AlQ3 complexes as side chains to a polymer. Polymer 4 has a glass‐transition temperature of 217.8 °C and is thermally stable with a 5% weight‐loss temperature greater than 500 °C under nitrogen, as determined by differential scanning calorimetry and thermogravimetric analyses, respectively. Polymer 4 is quite soluble in common organic solvents, such as tetrahydrofuran, N,N‐dimethylacetamide, and CHCl3. A composite that is 80 wt % polymer 4 and 20 wt % AlQ3 forms a transparent and tough film when cast from its chloroform solution. The application of this AlQ3‐containing polymer in light‐emitting diodes is under investigation. © 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. J Polym Sci A: Polym Chem 38: 2887–2892, 2000  相似文献

Blue light‐emitting materials are receiving considerable academic and industrial interest due to their potential applications in optoelectronic devices. In this study, blue light‐emitting copolymers based on 9,9′ ‐ dioctylfluorene and 2,2′‐(1,4‐phenylene)‐bis(benzimidazole) moieties were synthesized through palladium‐catalyzed Suzuki coupling reaction. While the copolymer consisting of unsubstituted benzimidazoles (PFBI0) is insoluble in common organic solvents, its counterpart with N‐octyl substituted benzimidazoles (PFBI8) enjoys good solubility in toluene, tetrahydrofuran, dichloromethane (DCM), and chloroform. The PFBI8 copolymer shows good thermal stability, whose glass transition temperature and onset decomposition temperature are 103 and 428 °C, respectively. Its solutions emit blue light efficiently, with the quantum yield up to 99% in chloroform. The electroluminescence (EL) device of PFBI8 with the configuration of indium‐tin oxide/poly(ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrene sulfonic acid)/PFBI8/1,3,5‐tris(1‐phenyl‐1H‐benzimidazole‐2‐yl)benzene/LiF/Al emits blue light with the maximum at 448 nm. Such unoptimized polymer light‐emitting diode (PLED) exhibits a maximum luminance of 1534 cd/m2 with the current efficiency and power efficiency of 0.67 cd/A and 0.20 lm/W, respectively. The efficient blue emission and good EL performance make PFBI8 promising for optoelectronic applications. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem, 2012  相似文献

5‐(2‐Aminothiazol‐4‐yl)‐8‐hydroxyquinoline 2 has been synthesized by treating thiourea with 5‐chloroacetyl‐8‐hydroxyquinoline 1 . The amine 2 was treated with aromatic aldehydes to furnish schiff bases 6a‐c which on treatment with phenyl isothiocyanate gave the corresponding thiazolo‐s‐triazines 7a‐c . Reaction of 2 with phenyl isothiocyanate gave the corresponding aminocarbothiamide derivative 8 which on reaction with malonic acid in acetyl chloride afforded thiobarbituric acid derivative 9 . Coupling of 9 with diazonium salt gave the phenyl hydrazono derivative 10 . However, reaction of 2 with carbon disulphide and methyl iodide afforded dithiocarbamidate 12 which on treatment with ethylenediamine, o‐aminophenol and/or phenylenediamine gave the aminoazolo derivatives 13–15 , respectively. Other substituted fused thiazolopyrimidines 16–20 have been also prepared by the reaction of 2 with some selected dicarbonyl reagents. The characterisation of synthesized compounds has been done on the basis of elemental analysis, IR, 1H‐NMR and mass spectral data. All the newly synthesized compounds have been screened for their antimicrobial activities.  相似文献

Two new orange red light‐emitting hyperbranched and linear polymers, poly(pyridine phenylene)s P1 and P2, were prepared by the Heck coupling reaction. In particular, an A2 + B3 approach was developed to synthesize conjugated hyperbranched polymer P2 via one‐pot polycondensation. The polymers were characterized by NMR, Fourier transform infrared, ultraviolet–visible, and elemental analysis. They showed excellent solubility in common solvents such as tetrahydrofuran, CH2Cl2, CHCl3, and N,N‐dimethylformamide and had high molecular weights (up to 6.1 × 105 and 5.8 × 105). Cyclic voltammetry studies revealed that P2 had a low‐lying lowest unoccupied molecular orbital energy level of ?3.22 eV and a highest occupied molecular orbital energy level of ?5.43 eV. The thin film of P2 emitted strong orange‐red photoluminescence at 595 nm. A double‐layer light‐emitting diode fabricated with the configuration of indium tin oxide/P2/tris(8‐hydroxy‐quinoline)aluminum/Al emitted orange‐red light at 599 nm, with a brightness of 662 cd/m2 at 7 V and a turn‐on voltage of 4.0 V; its external quantum efficiency was calculated to be 0.19% at 130.61 mA/cm2. This indicated that this new electroluminescent polymer (P2) based on 3,5‐dicyano‐2,4,6‐tristyrylpyridine could possibly be used as an orange‐red emitter in polymer light‐emitting displays. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Green and blue crystals of the coordination complexes [Cu(8‐hquin)2(H2O)2], 1 and [Cu(pyzca)2(H2O)2], 2 were obtained by the reaction of copper chloride with 8‐hydroxyquinoline (8‐hquinH) or pyrazine‐2‐carboxylic acid (pyzcaH) as ligands. The structures of 1 and 2 were characterized by elemental analyses, electronic absorption, Infrared (IR) and thermal studies. The luminescent behavior complexes 1 and 2 was also discussed. The coordination environment of copper(II) center displays distorted octahedral coordination geometry. The structure of the complexes 1 and 2 is constructed by an infinite number of discrete mononuclear molecules extending along the a‐axis to form a 1D‐chain via H‐bonds. The extensive hydrogen bonds and short contacts develop the structures of 1 and 2 to 3D‐network. The catalytic behavior of the complexes 1 and 2 was utilized for degradation of methylene blue dye (MB). The kinetic data indicated that the complexes 1 and 2 are effective catalysts for degradation of MB dye. Photoluminescence probing technology was used as a sensitive probe for detecting ?OH radicals.  相似文献

Thermally induced ring‐opening polymerization of monofunctional N‐allyl‐1,3‐benzoxazine 1a was compared with that of N‐(n‐propyl)‐1,3‐benzoxazine 1b to clarify an unexpected effect of allyl group to promote the polymerization, that is, in spite of the comparable bulkiness of allyl group to n‐propyl group, the polymerization of 1a was much faster than that of 1b . Such a difference in polymerization rate was also observed similarly in the comparison of thermally induced polymerization of a bifunctional N‐allyl‐benzoxazine 2a with that of a bifunctional N‐(n‐propyl) analogue 2b . These observations implied a certain contribution of an electron‐rich C? C double bond of the N‐ally group to promotion of the ring‐opening reaction of 1,3‐benzoxazine into the corresponding zwitterionic species, which would involve a mechanism to stabilize the cationic part of the zwitterionic species based on “neighboring group participation” of the C? C double bond. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem, 2010  相似文献

We investigated the chemical fixation of carbon dioxide (CO 2) to a copolymer bearing epoxide and the application of the cyclic carbonate group containing copolymer to polymer blends. In the synthesis of poly[(2‐oxo‐1,3‐dioxolane‐4‐yl)methyl methacrylate‐co‐styrene] [poly(DOMA‐co‐St)] from the addition of CO 2 to poly(glycidyl methacrylate‐co‐styrene) [poly(GMA‐co‐St)], quaternary ammonium salts showed good catalytic activity at mild reaction conditions. The CO 2 addition reaction followed pseudo first‐order kinetics with the concentration of poly(GMA‐co‐St). In order to expand the applications of the CO 2 fixed copolymer, polymer blends of this copolymer with poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) or poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) were cast from N,N′‐dimethylformamide (DMF) solution. Miscibility of blends of poly(DOMA‐co‐St) with PMMA or PVC have been investigated both by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and visual inspection of the blends, and the blends were miscible over the whole composition ranges. The miscibility behaviors were also discussed in terms of FT‐IR spectra. Copyright © 2002 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献
