The experimental and theoretical study on the structures and vibrations of 5‐fluoro‐salicylic acid and 5‐chloro‐salicylic acid (5‐FSA and 5‐ClSA, C7H5FO3 and C7H5ClO3) is presented. The Fourier transform infrared spectra (4000–400 cm−1) and the Fourier transform Raman spectra (4000–50 cm−1) of the title molecules in the solid phase were recorded. The molecular structures, vibrational wavenumbers, infrared intensities, Raman intensities and Raman scattering activities were calculated for a pair of molecules linked by the intermolecular O H···O hydrogen bond. The geometrical parameters and energies of 5‐FSA and 5ClSA were obtained for all eight conformers/isomers from density functional theory (DFT) (B3LYP) with 6‐311++G(d,p) basis set calculations. The computational results identified the most stable conformer of 5‐FSA and 5‐ClSA as the C1 form. The complete assignments were performed on the basis of the total energy distribution (TED) of the vibrational modes, calculated with scaled quantum mechanics (SQM) method. The spectroscopic and theoretical results were compared with the corresponding properties for 5‐FSA and 5‐ClSA monomers and dimer of C1 conformer. The optimized bond lengths, bond angles and calculated wavenumbers showed the best agreement with the experimental results. Copyright © 2010 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

The purpose of this in vitro study was to assess whether the mineralization degree and elemental content in tooth enamel are altered when bleaching the teeth with two different over‐the‐counter bleaching gels, exceeding the recommendations of the manufacturer. In order to perform this evaluation, 12 healthy teeth were used, six samples were treated with Teeth Whitening Home Kit, and the other six samples were treated with WHITE! (Bingo‐UK) bought in online shopping sites, for the period of 39 days. The pH of each product and the elemental content of each sample, before and after, were obtained by energy dispersive X‐ray spectrometry and phosphate (PO43‐) profile was evaluated with Raman spectroscopy. Data was analyzed accordingly to a pre‐established plan with a mixed‐model ANOVA for repeated measures, significance was set at 5%. Both products were markedly acidic and below enamel critical level of 5.5. Moreover, seven days after treatment, demineralization was significant, wherein at the end of the study the degree of demineralization seems to be permanent. In this work, the Fourier transform infrared and Raman spectra of 2‐bromonicotinic acid and 6‐bromonicotinic acid (abbreviated as 2‐BrNA and 6‐BrNA, C6H4BrNO2) have been recorded in the region 4000–400 and 3500–50 cm−1. The optimum molecular geometry, normal mode wavenumbers, infrared intensities and Raman scattering activities, corresponding vibrational assignments and intermolecular hydrogen bonds were investigated with the help of B3LYP density functional theory (DFT) method using 6‐311++G(d,p) basis set. Reliable vibrational assignments were made on the basis of total energy distribution (TED) calculated with scaled quantum mechanical (SQM) method. From the calculations, the molecules are predicted to exist predominantly as the C1 conformer. Copyright © 2009 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Experimental vibrational spectroscopic studies and density functional theory (DFT) calculations of the di‐amino acid peptide derivatives α‐ and β‐N‐acetyl‐L‐Asp‐L‐Glu have been undertaken. Raman and infrared spectra have been recorded for samples in the solid state. DFT simulations were conducted using the B3‐LYP correlation functional and the cc‐pVDZ basis set to determine energy minimized/geometry optimized structures (based on a single isolated molecule in the gaseous state). Normal coordinate calculations have provided vibrational assignments for fundamental modes, including their potential energy distributions. Significant differences are observed between α‐ and β‐N‐acetyl‐L‐Asp‐L‐Glu both in the computed structures and in the vibrational spectra. The combination of experimental and calculated spectra provide an insight into the structural and vibrational spectroscopic properties of di‐amino acid peptide derivatives. Structure and vibrational dynamics of γ′‐V2O5 synthesized from a pristine γ‐LiV2O5 sample via a chemical oxidation route was studied by means of Raman spectroscopy and quantum‐chemical calculations. The calculations based on density functional theory reliably reproduce the experimental structure of the γ′‐V2O5 lattice. The calculated Raman spectrum agrees remarkably well with the experimental one. Making use of the agreement, a complete assignment of Raman bands to vibrations of particular structural units is proposed. The comparison of Raman spectra and structural features of α‐V2O5 and γ′‐V2O5 polymorphs allowed establishing reliable ‘structure–spectrum’ correlations and identifying Raman peaks characteristic for different structural units. Infrared (IR) and Raman spectra were obtained for N,N′‐dicyclohexylcarbodiimide (DCC) in the solid state and in CHCl3 solution. Structures and vibrational spectra of isolated, gas‐phase DCC molecules with C2 and Ci symmetries, computed at the B3‐LYP/cc‐pVTZ level, show that the IR and Raman spectra provide convincing evidence for a C2 structure in both the solid state and in CHCl3 solution. Using a scaled quantum‐chemical force field, these density functional theory calculations have provided detailed assignments of the observed IR and Raman bands in terms of potential energy distributions. Comparison of solid‐state and solution spectra, together with a Raman study of the melting behaviour of DCC, revealed that no solid‐state effects were evident in the spectra. The experimental and theoretical vibrational spectra of 2‐fluorophenylboronic acid (2fpba) were studied. The Fourier transform Raman and Fourier transform infrared spectra of the 2fpba molecule were recorded in the solid phase. The structural and spectroscopic analysis of the molecule was carried out by using Hartree‐Fock and density functional harmonic calculations. For the title molecule, only one form was found to be the most stable structure, by using B3LYP level with the 6‐31++G(d,p) basis set. Selected experimental bands were assigned and characterized on the basis of the scaled theoretical wavenumbers by their total energy distribution (TED). The 1H and 13C nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) chemical shifts of the 2fpba molecule were calculated using the Gauge‐Invariant‐ atomic orbital (GIAO) method in DMSO solution using IEF‐PCM model and compared with the experimental data. Finally, geometric parameters, vibrational wavenumbers and chemical shifts were compared with available experimental data of the molecule. Copyright © 2009 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

FT‐IR and FT‐Raman spectra of 4‐chloro‐2‐(4‐bromophenylcarbamoyl)phenyl acetate were recorded and analyzed. The vibrational wavenumbers and corresponding vibrational assignments were examined theoretically using the Gaussian03 set of quantum chemistry codes. The red shift of the NH stretching wavenumber in the infrared (IR) spectrum from the computed wavenumber indicates the weakening of the NH bond resulting in proton transfer to the neighbouring oxygen atom. The simultaneous IR and Raman activations of the CO stretching mode give the charge transfer interaction through a π‐conjugated path. Optimized geometrical parameters of the title compound are in agreement with similar reported structures. From the optimized structure, it is clear that the hydrogen bonding decreases the double bond character of CO bond and increases the double bond character of the C N bonds. The first hyperpolarizability, predicted infrared intensities and Raman activities are reported. The calculated first hyperpolarizability is comparable with the reported values of similar derivatives and is an attractive object for future studies of non‐linear optics. The assignments of the normal modes are done by potential energy distribution (PED) calculations. Copyright © 2009 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

This work deals with the vibrational spectroscopy of 2‐amino‐4,6‐dihydroxy pyrimidine (ADHP) by means of quantum chemical calculations. The mid‐ and far FTIR and FT‐Raman spectra were measured in the condensed state. The fundamental vibrational wavenumbers and intensity of vibrational bands were evaluated using density functional theory (DFT) with the standard B3LYP/6‐311 + G** methods and basis set combinations, and were scaled using various scale factors, which yielded good agreement between the observed and calculated wavenumbers. The vibrational spectra were interpreted with the aid of normal coordinate analysis based on the scaled density functional force field. The results of the calculations were applied to simulate the infrared and Raman spectra of the title compound, which showed excellent agreement with the observed spectra. Fourier transform infrared (FT‐IR) and FT‐Raman spectra of 4‐fluoro‐N‐(2‐hydroxy‐4‐nitrophenyl)benzamide were recorded and analyzed. The vibrational wavenumbers and corresponding vibrational assignments were examined theoretically using the Gaussian03 set of quantum chemistry codes. The red‐shift of the NH‐stretching wavenumber in the infrared (IR) spectrum from the computed wavenumber indicates the weakening of the NH bond resulting in proton transfer to the neighboring oxygen atom. The simultaneous IR and Raman activation of the CO‐stretching mode gives the charge transfer interaction through a π‐conjugated path. Copyright © 2008 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

IR and Raman spectra (RS) of polycrystalline 3‐(or 4 or 6)‐methyl‐5‐nitro‐2‐pyridinethione have been measured and analyzed by means of density functional theory (DFT) quantum chemical calculations. The B3LYP/6‐311G(2d,2p) approach has been applied for both the thiol and thione tautomers due to the possibility of the formation of these two thiole forms. Molecular structures of these compounds have been optimized starting from different molecular geometries of the thiol group and thione group. Two conformations of the 2‐mercaptopyridine, trans and cis, have been taken into account. It was shown that the studied compounds appear in the solid state in the thione form. The effect of the hydrogen‐bond formation in the studied compounds has been considered. Copyright © 2008 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

We have synthesized 4‐[N‐phenyl‐N‐(3‐methylphenyl)‐amino]‐benzoic acid (4‐[PBA]) and investigated its molecular vibrations by infrared and Raman spectroscopies as well as by calculations based on the density functional theory (DFT) approach. The Fourier transform (FT) Raman, dispersive Raman and FT‐IR spectra of 4‐[PBA] were recorded in the solid phase. We analyzed the optimized geometric structure and energies of 4‐[PBA] in the ground state. Stability of the molecule arising from hyperconjugative interactions and charge delocalization was studied using natural bond orbital analysis. The results show that change in electron density in the σ* and π* antibonding orbitals and E2 energies confirm the occurrence of intramolecular charge transfer within the molecule. Theoretical calculations were performed at the DFT level using the Gaussian 09 program. Selected experimental bands were assigned and characterized on the basis of the scaled theoretical wavenumbers by their total energy distribution. The good agreement between the experimental and theoretical spectra allowed positive assignment of the observed vibrational absorption bands. Finally, the calculation results were applied to simulate the Raman and IR spectra of the title compound, which show agreement with the observed spectra. The Raman spectra of neat propionaldehyde [CH3CH2CHO or propanal (Pr)] and its binary mixtures with hydrogen‐donor solvents, water (W) and methanol (M), [CH3CH2CHO + H2O] and CH3CH2CHO + CH3OH] with different mole fractions of the reference system, Pr varying from 0.1 to 0.9 at a regular interval of 0.1, were recorded in the ν(CO) stretching region, 1600–1800 cm−1. The isotropic parts of the Raman spectra were analyzed for both the cases. The wavenumber positions and line widths of the component bands were determined by a rigorous line‐shape analysis, and the peaks corresponding to self‐associated and hydrogen‐bonded species were identified. Raman peak at ∼1721 cm−1 in neat Pr, which has been attributed to the self‐associated species, downshifts slightly (∼1 cm−1) in going from mole fraction 0.9 to 0.6 in (Pr + W) binary mixture, but on further dilution it shows a sudden downshift of ∼7 cm−1. This has been attributed to the low solubility of Pr in W (∼30%), which does not permit a hydrogen‐bonded network to form at higher concentrations of Pr. A significant decrease in the intensity of this peak in the Raman spectra of Pr in a nonpolar solvent, n‐heptane, at high dilution (C = 0.05) further confirms that this peak corresponds to the self‐associated species. In case of the (Pr + M) binary mixture, however, the spectral changes with concentration show a rather regular trend and no special features were observed. Precise polarized Raman measurements of 2‐chloropyridine (2Clpy) in the region 560–1060 cm−1 and 3‐chloropyridine (3Clpy) in the region 680–1080 cm−1 at different concentrations in mole fraction of methanol were made to calculate the isotropic part of the Raman spectra, which has contributions only from vibrational dephasing. A detailed analysis of the Raman spectra was carried out to see the variation of peak position and linewidth. The dephasing is mode specific. The trigonal bending mode of 3Clpy has two components when it is mixed with methanol. The relative intensities of these two bands are used to calculate the equilibrium constants. The ring‐breathing mode of 3Clpy, on the other hand, remains single in the mixture. The appearance of a new band corresponding to the trigonal bending mode, as well as the nonappearance of that of the ring‐breathing mode, is also shown by the density functional theory (DFT) study of gas phase and methanol‐solvated complexes. The vibrational dephasing time for the hydrogen‐bonded ring‐breathing mode is calculated from the linear Raman linewidth and peak position data. For other modes, it was not possible to calculate the dephasing time because of the nonavailability of a suitable theoretical model. Contrary to 3Clpy, in 2Clpy the ring‐breathing mode becomes a doublet but the trigonal bending mode remains single. It is seen that the hydrogen‐bonding capacity of chloropyridines is highly influenced by the position of the Cl atom. Single and double components of these modes are also explained by DFT calculations. We obtained excellent match of the experimental and theoretical spectra with the B3LYP/6‐31 + G (d,p) method. As an infrared Raman probe, the molecule 3,3′‐diethylthiatricarbocyanine iodide (DTTC) has received much attention in the past decades due to its potential applications in Raman imaging, single‐cell detection, cancer diagnosis, and surface‐enhanced Raman scattering (SERS). In this work, ordinary Raman, SERS, and theoretical Raman spectra were investigated to estimate the DTTC suspension. More specifically, the original gold nanospheres (60 nm diameter) and gold nanorods were encoded with DTTC and stabilized with a layer of thiol–polyethylene glycol as Raman reporter; SERS data were also obtained from the samples. Hartree–Fock theory and density functional theory (DFT) calculation were applied to calculate the optimized Raman spectra of DTTC in water on the B3LYP/6‐31G level. Subsequently, the obtained experimental spectra from DTTC were carefully compared with the theoretically calculated spectra, and good agreement was obtained between the theoretical and experimental results. The bands between 500 and 3100 cm−1 in the ordinary Raman and SERS spectra were assigned as well. This work will facilitate the development of ultrasensitive SERS probes for advanced biomedical imaging applications. Copyright © 2011 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

The vibrational spectra of trans‐p‐coumaric acid (pCA) and syringic acid (SA) are discussed. The spectral fingerprints of the organic acids observed in the infrared and Raman spectra are assigned to fundamental vibrational wavenumbers supported by quantum chemical computations. The average surface‐enhanced Raman scattering spectra of both acids have been obtained on silver colloidal solutions and the interpretation of the spectra is presented based on complementary Raman spectra and computational results for the silver salts. Cu(I) complexes of the type [Cu(L)(PPh3)2]+, where L is the bidentate ligand 4,7‐diphenyl‐1, 10‐phenanthroline (dip) and 3,4,7,8‐tetramethyl‐1,10‐phenanthroline (tem) and their perdeuterated analogues, have been synthesised and the transient resonance Raman spectra of these complexes have been measured. The spectra show two sets of bands, one due to the PPh3 ligands and the other due to L.− created through the metal‐to‐ligand charge transfer transition. Density functional theory calculations have been used to model ligands and complexes in the ground state and good agreement has been found between calculated and measured bands with a mean absolute deviation of 8–10 cm−1 for the ligands and 5 cm−1 for the complexes. Shifts in the bands due to deuteration have also been well predicted, with the shifts for most modes predicted to within 10 cm−1. The structure and spectra of the excited states have been modelled using two approaches. The reduced state [Cu(L.−)(PH3)2] was used for both complexes to predict the changes in the structure of the polypyridyl ligand and for [Cu(dip)(PPh3)2]+ the triplet state was also optimised. Both approaches show that similar structural changes in the ligand are predicted. In the case of [Cu(dip)(PPh3)2]+* and [Cu(dip.−)(PPh3)2], the calculated states are 3A2 and 2A2, respectively, consistent with experiment. Calculations on [Cu(tem)(PPh3)2]+* give a 3B1 state. This is not consistent with experimental results. For [Cu(tem.−)(PPh3)2] both the 2B1 and 2A2 states may be calculated and the experimental spectrum of [Cu(tem)(PPh3)2]+* is closer to that of the 2A2 [Cu(tem.−)(PPh3)2] species. Calculated wavenumbers are compared to measured transient resonance Raman L.− bands and found to have a mean absolute deviation of 8 cm−1 for the triplet state of [Cu(dip)(PPh3)2]+ and 16 cm−1 for the reduced state of [Cu(tem)(PPh3)2]+. Fourier‐transform infrared (FT‐IR), Raman (RS), and surface‐enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) spectra of β‐hydroxy‐β‐methylobutanoic acid (HMB), L ‐carnitine, and N‐methylglycocyamine (creatine) have been measured. The SERS spectra have been taken from species adsorbed on a colloidal silver surface. The respective FT‐IR and RS band assignments (solid‐state samples) based on the literature data have been proposed. The strongest absorptions in the FT‐IR spectrum of creatine are observed at 1398, 1615, and 1699 cm−1, which are due to νs(COOH) + ν(CN) + δ(CN), ρs(NH2), and ν(C O) modes, respectively, whereas those of L ‐carnitine (at 1396/1586 cm−1 and 1480 cm−1) and HMB (at 1405/1555/1585 cm−1 and 1437–1473 cm−1) are associated with carboxyl and methyl/methylene group vibrations, respectively. On the other hand, the strongest bands in the RS spectrum of HMB observed at 748/1442/1462 cm−1 and 1408 cm−1 are due to methyl/methylene deformations and carboxyl group vibrations, respectively. The strongest Raman band of creatine at 831 cm−1w(R NH2)) is accompanied by two weaker bands at 1054 and 1397 cm−1 due to ν(CN) + ν(R NH2) and νs(COOH) + ν(CN) + δ(CN) modes, respectively. In the case of L ‐carnitine, its RS spectrum is dominated by bands at 772 and 1461 cm−1 assigned to ρr(CH2) and δ(CH3), respectively. The analysis of the SERS spectra shows that HMB interacts with the silver surface mainly through the  COO, hydroxyl, and  CH2 groups, whereas L ‐carnitine binds to the surface via  COO and  N+(CH3)3 which is rarely enhanced at pH = 8.3. On the other hand, it seems that creatine binds weakly to the silver surface mainly by  NH2, and C O from the  COO group. Copyright © 2006 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Here, we report the nature of new di‐α‐amino (L1–L3) and α‐amino‐α‐hydroxyphosphinic (L4–L6) acids, which are considered potential inhibitors of the aminopeptidase N, adsorbed on a colloidal silver surface by means of surface‐enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) spectroscopy. In order to reveal the adsorption mechanism of these species from their SERS spectra, Fourier‐transform Raman (FT‐RS) spectra of these nonadsorbed molecules were measured. By examining the enhancement, shift in wavenumbers, and changes in breadth of the SERS bands due to the adsorption process, we revealed that the tilted compounds interact with the colloidal silver substrate mainly through the benzene ring, amino group, and phosphinic moiety in the following way. The benzene ring of L2 and L3 is ‘standing up’ on the colloidal silver surface, and the C N bond is almost vertical to it, while the tilt angle between the O PO bond and this surface is greater than 45°. On the other hand, for L1, L4, and L5, the aromatic ring and C N bond are arranged more or less tilted, and the tilt angle between the O PO bond and the silver substrate is smaller than 45°. The elongation of the bond to the benzene ring, the L6 case, produces an almost horizontal orientation of the benzene ring and the O PO bond on the silver nanoparticles. For these ligands, the complement inhibition IC50 tested in vitro using porcine kidney leucine aminopeptidase was correlated mainly with the behavior of the O PO and C CH N fragments on the silver surface. The interaction of l ‐tryptophan (Trp) with silver colloids was investigated at between pH values of 6.11 and 10.6 of the sol. The measurements of surface‐enhanced Raman bands of Trp in the colloidal solution indicate the evolution of interaction between the metal particles and the molecules with increasing pH values for the sol. The experimental observations were explained using the estimated atomic charge distribution in the zwitterionic and anionic forms of the residue, obtained by density functional theory calculations. The variation in the ratio of the spectral intensities of the Fermi resonance bands with the pH reflects the effect of the colloidal environment on Trp. The results obtained can be used as a marker for describing the nature of the interaction of silver colloids with the specific terminus of the residue, at varying pH environments.
