In this paper, a unified algorithm is proposed for solving a class of convex separable nonlinear knapsack problems, which are characterized by positive marginal cost (PMC) and increasing marginal loss–cost ratio (IMLCR). By taking advantage of these two characteristics, the proposed algorithm is applicable to the problem with equality or inequality constraints. In contrast to the methods based on Karush–Kuhn–Tucker (KKT) conditions, our approach has linear computation complexity. Numerical results are reported to demonstrate the efficacy of the proposed algorithm for different problems.  相似文献

In this paper we propose an iterative algorithm for solving a convex quadratic program with one equality constraint and bounded variables. At each iteration, a separable convex quadratic program with the same constraint set is solved. Two variants are analyzed: one that uses an exact line search, and the other a unit step size. Preliminary testing suggests that this approach is efficient for problems with diagonally dominant matrices. In this paper, we study inverse optimization for linearly constrained convex separable programming problems that have wide applications in industrial and managerial areas. For a given feasible point of a convex separable program, the inverse optimization is to determine whether the feasible point can be made optimal by adjusting the parameter values in the problem, and when the answer is positive, find the parameter values that have the smallest adjustments. A sufficient and necessary condition is given for a feasible point to be able to become optimal by adjusting parameter values. Inverse optimization formulations are presented with 1 and 2 norms. These inverse optimization problems are either linear programming when 1 norm is used in the formulation, or convex quadratic separable programming when 2 norm is used.  相似文献

This paper provides an approximating programming technique to solve the multi-product newsvendor model in which product demands are independent and stocking quantities are subject to two or more ex-ante linear contraints, such as budget or volume constraints. Previous research has attempted to solve this problem with Lagrange relaxation techniques or by limiting the distribution of demand. However, by taking advantage of the separable nature of the problem, a close approximation of the optimal solution can be found using convex separable programming for any demand distribution in the traditional newsvendor model and extensions. Sensitivity analysis of the linear program provides managerial insight into the effects of parameters of the problem on the optimal solution and future decisions.  相似文献

It is known that convex programming problems with separable inequality constraints do not have duality gaps. However, strong duality may fail for these programs because the dual programs may not attain their maximum. In this paper, we establish conditions characterizing strong duality for convex programs with separable constraints. We also obtain a sub-differential formula characterizing strong duality for convex programs with separable constraints whenever the primal problems attain their minimum. In this paper, a new variable reduction technique is presented for general integer quadratic programming problem (GP), under which some variables of (GP) can be fixed at zero without sacrificing optimality. A sufficient condition and a necessary condition for the identification of dominated terms are provided. By comparing the given data of the problem and the upper bound of the variables, if they meet certain conditions, some variables can be fixed at zero. We report a computational study to demonstrate the efficacy of the proposed technique in solving general integer quadratic programming problems. Furthermore, we discuss separable integer quadratic programming problems in a simpler and clearer form.  相似文献

In this paper, existence and characterization of solutions and duality aspects of infinite-dimensional convex programming problems are examined. Applications of the results to constrained approximation problems are considered. Various duality properties for constrained interpolation problems over convex sets are established under general regularity conditions. The regularity conditions are shown to hold for many constrained interpolation problems. Characterizations of local proximinal sets and the set of best approximations are also given in normed linear spaces.The author is grateful to the referee for helpful suggestions which have contributed to the final preparation of this paper. An algorithm is presented for obtaining the optimal solution of an integer programming problem in which the nested constraints represent the cumulative bounding of the variables and the objective function is a sum of concave functions of one variables. The algorithm requires O(m log(m)log2(bm/m)) time, where m is the number of variables and bm is an upper bound on the sum of the m variables, bmm⩾1. It is also demonstrated that a special case of identical concave functions is solvable in O(m). Both results significantly improve the previous bounds for these problems.  相似文献

本文对有界变量线性规划的算法进行了研究,得到了一种解此问题的新算法。文中根据基线算法的算法原理,通过对BL表的旋转,在各变量满足界约束的条件下,使目标函数值不断增大,直至得到有界硬上界,从而得到问题的最优解。文中给出了有界变量线性规划基线算法的计算步骤,并给出了一个例子。与单纯形法相比,采用基线算法解有界变量线性规划操作更简单。迭代次数少,解题速度更快。  相似文献

The strictly contractive Peaceman-Rachford splitting method is one of effective methods for solving separable convex optimization problem, and the inertial proximal Peaceman-Rachford splitting method is one of its important variants. It is known that the convergence of the inertial proximal Peaceman-Rachford splitting method can be ensured if the relaxation factor in Lagrangian multiplier updates is underdetermined, which means that the steps for the Lagrangian multiplier updates are shrunk conservatively. Although small steps play an important role in ensuring convergence, they should be strongly avoided in practice. In this article, we propose a relaxed inertial proximal Peaceman-Rachford splitting method, which has a larger feasible set for the relaxation factor. Thus, our method provides the possibility to admit larger steps in the Lagrangian multiplier updates. We establish the global convergence of the proposed algorithm under the same conditions as the inertial proximal Peaceman-Rachford splitting method. Numerical experimental results on a sparse signal recovery problem in compressive sensing and a total variation based image denoising problem demonstrate the effectiveness of our method.  相似文献

A minimization problem with convex and separable objective function subject to a separable convex inequality constraint and bounded variables is considered. A necessary and sufficient condition is proved for a feasible solution to be an optimal solution to this problem. Convex minimization problems subject to linear equality/linear inequality constraint, and bounds on the variables are also considered. A necessary and sufficient condition and a sufficient condition, respectively, are proved for a feasible solution to be an optimal solution to these two problems. Algorithms of polynomial complexity for solving the three problems are suggested and their convergence is proved. We introduce a new algorithm for the continuous bounded quadratic knapsack problem. This algorithm is motivated by the geometry of the problem, is based on the iterative solution of a series of simple projection problems, and is easy to understand and implement. In practice, the method compares favorably to other well-known algorithms (some of which have superior worst-case complexity) on problem sizes up ton = 4000.  相似文献

This paper presents a decomposition algorithm for solving convex programming problems with separable structure. The algorithm is obtained through application of the alternating direction method of multipliers to the dual of the convex programming problem to be solved. In particular, the algorithm reduces to the ordinary method of multipliers when the problem is regarded as nonseparable. Under the assumption that both primal and dual problems have at least one solution and the solution set of the primal problem is bounded, global convergence of the algorithm is established.  相似文献
