In this paper, we present an a posteriori error analysis for mixed finite element approximation of convex optimal control problems. We derive a posteriori error estimates for the coupled state and control approximations under some assumptions which hold in many applications. Such estimates can be used to construct reliable adaptive mixed finite elements for the control problems.  相似文献

This article is devoted to the a posteriori error analysis of multiharmonic finite element approximations to distributed optimal control problems with time-periodic state equations of parabolic type. We derive a posteriori estimates of the functional type, which are easily computable and provide guaranteed upper bounds for the state and co-state errors as well as for the cost functional. These theoretical results are confirmed by several numerical tests that show high efficiency of the a posteriori error bounds.  相似文献

In this article, we develop functional a posteriori error estimates for discontinuous Galerkin (DG) approximations of elliptic boundary‐value problems. These estimates are based on a certain projection of DG approximations to the respective energy space and functional a posteriori estimates for conforming approximations developed by S. Repin (see e.g., Math Comp 69 (2000) 481–500). On these grounds, we derive two‐sided guaranteed and computable bounds for the errors in “broken” energy norms. A series of numerical examples presented confirm the efficiency of the estimates. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Numer Methods Partial Differential Eq, 2009  相似文献

In this paper, we investigate the superconvergence property and a posteriori error estimates of mixed finite element methods for a linear elliptic control problem with an integral constraint. The state and co-state are approximated by the order k = 1 Raviart-Thomas mixed finite element spaces and the control variable is approximated by piecewise constant functions. Approximations of the optimal control of the continuous optimal control problem will be constructed by a projection of the discrete adjoint state. It is proved that these approximations have convergence order h 2. Moreover, we derive a posteriori error estimates both for the control variable and the state variables. Finally, a numerical example is given to demonstrate the theoretical results.  相似文献

S.I. Repin and his colleagues’ studies addressing functional a posteriori error estimates for solutions of linear elasticity problems are further developed. Although the numerical results obtained for planar problems by A.V. Muzalevsky and Repin point to advantages of the adaptive approach used, the degree of overestimation of the absolute error increases noticeably with mesh refinement. This shortcoming is eliminated by using approximations typical of mixed finite element methods. A comparative analysis is conducted for the classical finite element approximations, mixed Raviart-Thomas approximations, and relatively recently proposed Arnold-Boffi-Falk mixed approximations. It is shown that the last approximations are the most efficient.  相似文献

In this work, new results on functional type a posteriori estimates for elliptic optimal control problems with control constraints are presented. More precisely, we derive new, sharp, guaranteed, and fully computable lower bounds for the cost functional in addition to the already existing upper bounds. Using both, the lower and the upper bounds, we arrive at two‐sided estimates for the cost functional. We prove that these bounds finally lead to sharp, guaranteed and fully computable upper estimates for the discretization error in the state and the control of the optimal control problem. First numerical tests are presented confirming the efficiency of the a posteriori estimates derived. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Numer Methods Partial Differential Eq 33: 403–424, 2017  相似文献

This article studies a posteriori error analysis of fully discrete finite element approximations for semilinear parabolic optimal control problems. Based on elliptic reconstruction approach introduced earlier by Makridakis and Nochetto [25], a residual based a posteriori error estimators for the state, co-state and control variables are derived. The space discretization of the state and co-state variables is done by using the piecewise linear and continuous finite elements, whereas the piecewise constant functions are employed for the control variable. The temporal discretization is based on the backward Euler method. We derive a posteriori error estimates for the state, co-state and control variables in the $L^\infty(0,T;L^2(\Omega))$-norm. Finally, a numerical experiment is performed to illustrate the performance of the derived estimators.  相似文献

In this paper, we derive a posteriori error estimates for finite element approximations of the optimal control problems governed by the Stokes-Darcy system. We obtain a posteriori error estimators for both the state and the control based on the residual of the finite element approximation. It is proved that the a posteriori error estimate provided in this paper is both reliable and efficient.  相似文献

We derive novel a posteriori error estimates for backward Euler approximations of evolution inequalities in Hilbert spaces. The underlying nonlinear (multivalued) monotone operator is subdifferential, or more generally angle-bounded. The estimates depend solely on the discrete solution and data, impose no constraints between consecutive time-steps, exhibit explicit stability factors, and are optimal with respect to both order and regularity.  相似文献

We propose a characteristic finite element discretization of evolutionary type convection-diffusion optimal control problems. Nondivergence-free velocity fields and bilateral inequality control constraints are handled. Then some residual type a posteriori error estimates are analyzed for the approximations of the control, the state, and the adjoint state. Based on the derived error estimators, we use them as error indicators in developing efficient multi-set adaptive meshes characteristic finite element algorithm for such optimal control problems. Finally, one numerical example is given to check the feasibility and validity of multi-set adaptive meshes refinements.  相似文献

With weighted orthogonal Jacobi polynomials, we study spectral approximations for singular perturbation problems on an interval. The singular parameters of the model are included in the basis functions, and then its stiff matrix is diagonal. Considering the estimations for weighted orthogonal coefficients, a special technique is proposed to investigate the a posteriori error estimates. In view of the difficulty of a posteriori error estimates for spectral approximations, we employ a truncation projection to study lower bounds for the models. Specially, we present the lower bounds of a posteriori error estimates with two different weighted norms in details.  相似文献

In this article, a characteristic finite element approximation of quadratic optimal control problems governed by linear convection–diffusion equations is given. We derive some a posteriori error estimates for both the control and the state approximations, where the control variable is constrained by pointwise inequality. The derived error estimators are then used as an error indicator to guide the mesh refinement. In this sense, they are very important in developing adaptive finite element algorithm for the optimal control problems. Finally, a numerical example is given to validate the efficiency and reliability of the theoretical results. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Numer Methods Partial Differential Eq, 2013  相似文献

In this paper we derive a priori and a posteriori error estimates for cell centered finite volume approximations of nonlinear conservation laws on polygonal bounded domains. Numerical experiments show the applicability of the a posteriori result for the derivation of local adaptive solution strategies.

We present guaranteed and computable both sided error bounds for the discontinuous Galerkin (DG) approximations of elliptic problems. These estimates are derived in the full DG-norm on purely functional grounds by the analysis of the respective differential problem, and thus, are applicable to any qualified DG approximation. Based on the triangle inequality, the underlying approach has the following steps for a given DG approximation: (1) computing a conforming approximation in the energy space using the Oswald interpolation operator, and (2) application of the existing functional a posteriori error estimates to the conforming approximation. Various numerical examples with varying difficulty in computing the error bounds, from simple problems of polynomial-type analytic solution to problems with analytic solution having sharp peaks, or problems with jumps in the coefficients of the partial differential equation operator, are presented which confirm the efficiency and the robustness of the estimates.  相似文献

Adaptive algorithms based on functional a posteriori estimates for the Dirichlet problem for the stationary diffusion equation with jump discontinuities in the equation coefficients are compared. The algorithms have been implemented in MATLAB with the use of both standard finite element approximations and the zero-order Raviart-Thomas approximation. The adaptation results are analyzed using indicators of the local error distribution. Specifically, sequences of finite-element partitions, effectivity indices of estimates, and relative errors of approximate solutions are compared.  相似文献

A posteriori estimates are obtained that enable one to control the accuracy of conformal approximations of the solution of plane problems arising in the theory of Cosserat elasticity, irrespective of the method of constructing these approximations. Problems are considered in which the boundary conditions can include both specified displacements as well as surface forces and torques.  相似文献

In this paper, we study a posteriori error estimates of the upwind symmetric interior penalty Galerkin (SIPG) method for the control constrained optimal control problems governed by linear diffusion–convection–reaction partial differential equations. Residual based error estimators are used for the state, the adjoint and the control. An adaptive mesh refinement indicated by a posteriori error estimates is applied. Numerical examples are presented for convection dominated problems to illustrate the theoretical findings and the effectiveness of the adaptivity.  相似文献

In this paper, we derive new two-sided a posteriori estimates of the modeling errors for linear elliptic boundary value problems with periodic coefficients solved by homogenization. Our approach is based on the concept of functional a posteriori error estimation. The estimates are obtained for the energy norm and use solely the global flux of the non-oscillatory solution of the homogenized model and solution of a boundary value problem on the cell of periodicity.  相似文献
