Periodic solutions of a subcritical cubic complex Ginzburg-Landau equation are considered in the limit of large dispersion and nonlinear frequency shift. Results obtained formerly by Schöpf and Kramer are revisited and extended to the case of a defocusing nonlinearity. It is shown that a global feedback control can extend existence and stability regions of the stationary solutions in both focusing and defocusing cases.  相似文献

The discrete complex cubic Ginzburg-Landau equation is an important model to describe a number of physical systems such as Taylor and frustrated vortices in hydrodynamics and semiconductor laser arrays in optics. In this paper, the exact solutions of the discrete complex cubic Ginzburg-Landau equation are derived using homogeneous balance principle and the G' / G-expansion method, and the linear stability of exact solutions is discussed.  相似文献

Homoclinic and heteroclinic solutions are two important concepts that are used to investigate the complex properties of nonlinear evolutionary equations. In this Letter, we perform hyperbolic and linear stability analysis, and prove the existence of homoclinic and heteroclinic solutions for two-dimensional cubic Ginzburg-Landau equation with periodic boundary condition and even constraint. Then, using the Hirota's bilinear transformation, we find the closed-form homoclinic and heteroclinic solutions. Moreover, we find that the homoclinic tubes and two families of heteroclinic solutions are asymptotic to a periodic cycle in one dimension.  相似文献

We consider an inhomogeneous optical fiber system described by the generalized cubic complex Ginzburg-Landau (CGL) equation with varying dispersion, nonlinearity, gain (loss), nonlinear gain (absorption) and the effect of spectral limitation. Exact chirped bright and dark soliton-like solutions of the CGL equation were found by using a suitable ansatz. Furthermore, we analyze the features of the solitons and consider the problem of stability of these soliton-like solutions under finite initial perturbations. It is shown by extensive numerical simulations that both bright and dark soliton-like solutions are stable in an inhomogeneous fiber system. Finally, the interaction between two chirped bright and dark soliton-like pulses is investigated numerically.  相似文献

For the Ginzburg-Landau equation (GL), we establish the existence and local uniqueness of two classes of multi-bump, self-similar, blow-up solutions for all dimensions 2<d<4 (under certain conditions on the coefficients in the equation). In numerical simulation and via asymptotic analysis, one class of solutions was already found; the second class of multi-bump solutions is new.In the analysis, we treat the GL as a small perturbation of the cubic nonlinear Schrödinger equation (NLS). The existence result given here is a major extension of results established previously for the NLS, since for the NLS the construction only holds for d close to the critical dimension d=2.The behaviour of the self-similar solutions is described by a nonlinear, non-autonomous ordinary differential equation (ODE). After linearisation, this ODE exhibits hyperbolic behaviour near the origin and elliptic behaviour asymptotically. We call the region where the type of behaviour changes the mid-range. All of the bumps of the solutions that we construct lie in the mid-range.For the construction, we track a manifold of solutions of the ODE that satisfy the condition at the origin forward, and a manifold of solutions that satisfy the asymptotic conditions backward, to a common point in the mid-range. Then, we show that these manifolds intersect transversely. We study the dynamics in the mid-range by using geometric singular perturbation theory, adiabatic Melnikov theory, and the Exchange Lemma.  相似文献

Stable soliton propagation in a system with linear and nonlinear gain and spectral filtering is investigated. Different types of exact analytical solutions of the cubic and the quintic complex Ginzburg-Landau equation (CGLE) are reviewed. The conditions to achieve stable soliton propagation are analyzed within the domain of validity of soliton perturbation theory. We derive an analytical expression defining the region in the parameter space where stable pulselike solutions exist, which agrees with the numerical results obtained by other authors. An analytical expression for the soliton amplitude corresponding to the quintic CGLE is also obtained. We show that the minimum value of this amplitude depends only on the ratio between the linear gain and the quintic gain saturating term.  相似文献

We study interactions of planetary waves propagating across the equator with trapped Rossby or Yanai modes, and the mean flow. The equatorial waveguide with a mean current acts as a resonator and responds to planetary waves with certain wave numbers by making the trapped modes grow. Thus excited waves reach amplitudes greatly exceeding the amplitude of the incoming wave. Nonlinear saturation of the excited waves is described by an amplitude equation with one or two attracting equilibrium solutions. In the latter case spatial modulation leads to formation of characteristic defects in the wave field. The evolution of the envelopes of long trapped Rossby waves is governed by the driven complex Ginzburg-Landau equation, and by the damped-driven nonlinear Schr?dinger equation for short waves. The envelopes of the Yanai waves obey a simple wave equation with cubic nonlinearity.  相似文献

In this paper, we extend the hyperbolic function approach for constructing the exact solutions of nonlinear differential-difference equation (NDDE) in a unified way. Applying the extended approach and with the aid of Maple,we have studied the discrete complex Ginzburg-Landau equation (dCGLE). As a result, we find a set of exact solutions which include bright and dark soliton solutions.  相似文献

We generalize a recently proposed model based on the cubic complex Ginzburg-Landau (CGL) equation, which gives rise to stable dissipative solitons supported by localized gain applied at a “hot spot” (HS), in the presence of the linear loss in the bulk. We introduce a model with the Kerr nonlinearity concentrated at the HS, together with the local gain and, possibly, with the local nonlinear loss. The model, which may be implemented in laser cavities based on planar waveguides, gives rise to exact solutions for pinned dissipative solitons. In the case when the HS does not include the localized nonlinear loss, numerical tests demonstrate that these solitons are stable/unstable if the localized nonlinearity is self-defocusing/focusing. Another new setting considered in this work is a pair of two symmetric HSs. We find exact asymmetric solutions for it, although they are unstable. Numerical simulations demonstrate that stable modes supported by the HS pair tend to be symmetric. An unexpected conclusion is that the interaction between breathers pinned to two broad HSs, which are the only stable modes in isolation in that case, transforms them into a static symmetric mode.  相似文献

The so-called Ginzburg-Landau formalism applies for parabolic systems which are defined on cylindrical domains, which are, close to the threshold of instability, and for which the unstable Fourier modes belong to non-zero wave numbers. This formalism allows to describe an attracting set of solutions by a modulation equation, here the Ginzburg-Landau equation. If the coefficient in front of the cubic term of the formally derived Ginzburg-Landau equation has negative real part the method allows to show global existence in time in the original system of all solutions belonging to small initial conditions, inL . Another aim of this paper is to construct a pseudo-orbit of Ginzburg-Landau approximations which is close to a solution of the original system up tot=. We consider here as an example the socalled Kuramoto-Shivashinsky equation to explain the methods, but it applies also to a wide class of other problems, like e.g. hydrodynamical problems or reaction-diffusion equations, too.  相似文献

In this paper, we first consider exact solutions for Lienard equation with nonlinear terms of any order. Then, explicit exact bell and kink profile solitary-wave solutions for many nonlinear evolution equations are obtained by means of results of the Lienard equation and proper deductions, which transform original partial differential equations into the Lienard one. These nonlinear equations include compound KdV, compound KdV-Burgers, generalized Boussinesq, generalized KP and Ginzburg-Landau equation. Some new solitary-wave solutions are found.  相似文献

In this research, we apply two different techniques on nonlinear complex fractional nonlinear Schrödinger equation which is a very important model in fractional quantum mechanics. Nonlinear Schrödinger equation is one of the basic models in fibre optics and many other branches of science. We use the conformable fractional derivative to transfer the nonlinear real integer-order nonlinear Schrödinger equation to nonlinear complex fractional nonlinear Schrödinger equation. We apply new auxiliary equation method and novel \(\left( {G'}/{G}\right) \)-expansion method on nonlinear complex fractional Schrödinger equation to obtain new optical forms of solitary travelling wave solutions. We find many new optical solitary travelling wave solutions for this model. These solutions are obtained precisely and efficiency of the method can be demonstrated.  相似文献

In this paper nonlinear-dispersive dissipative RLC transmission line is considered and envelope modulation is reduced to the modified cubic-quintic complex Ginzburg-Landau equation (CGLE) with derivatives in cubic terms. This CGLE obtained contains two free (from the line parameters) parameters, the nonlinear cubic gain and the linear gain. Modulational instability for the modified cubic-quintic CGLE is analyzed and leads to the generalized Lange and Newell criterion. We reformulate the derived CGLE as a third-order ordinary system in standard form with the first derivatives on the left-hand side in order to study the coherent structures.  相似文献

A new type of the heavily-chirped solitary pulse solutions of the nonlinear cubic-quintic complex Ginzburg-Landau equation has been found. The methodology developed provides for a systematic way to find the approximate but highly accurate analytical solutions of this equation with the generalized nonlinearities within the normal dispersion region. It is demonstrated that these solitary pulses have the extra-broadened parabolic-top or fingerlike spectra and allow compressing with more than a hundredfold growth of the pulse peak power. The obtained solutions explain the energy scalable regimes in the fiber and solid-state oscillators operating within the normal dispersion region and promise to achieve microjoules femtosecond pulses at MHz repetition rates.  相似文献

We consider cnoidal traveling wave solutions to the focusing nonlinear Schrödinger equation (NLS) that have been shown to persist when the NLS is perturbed to the complex Ginzburg-Landau equation (CGL). We show that while these periodic traveling waves are spectrally stable solutions of NLS with respect to periodic perturbations, they are unstable with respect to bounded perturbations. Furthermore, we use an argument based on the Fredholm alternative to find an instability criterion for the persisting solutions to CGL.  相似文献

The physical system under consideration is the flow above a rotating disk and its cross-flow instability, which is a typical route to turbulence in three-dimensional boundary layers. Our aim is to study the nonlinear properties of the wavefield through a Volterra series equation. The kernels of the Volterra expansion, which contain relevant physical information about the system, are estimated by fitting two-point measurements via a nonlinear parametric model. We then consider describing the wavefield with the complex Ginzburg-Landau equation, and derive analytical relations which express the coefficients of the Ginzburg-Landau equation in terms of the kernels of the Volterra expansion. These relations must hold for a large class of weakly nonlinear systems, in fluid as well as in plasma physics. (c) 2000 American Institute of Physics.  相似文献

Separation into spectral and nonlinear complex-eigenvalue problems is shown to be an effective and flexible approach to soliton laser models. The simplest such model, a complex Ginzburg-Landau model with cubic nonlinearity, has no stable solitonic solutions. We show that coupling it to a resonant linear system is a simple and general route to stabilization, which encompasses several previous instances in both space- and time-domains. Graphical solution in the complex eigenvalue plane provides valuable insight into the similarities and differences of such models, and into the interpretation of related experiments. It can also be used predictively, to guide analysis, numerics and experiment.  相似文献
