A special case of a transversely isotropic elastic medium is considered. This medium is excited by a point force perpendicular to the anisotropy axis. The wave field in this medium is constructed and investigated. The front sets of SV and SH waves are in contact with one another at a point. In order to investigate a neighborhood of this point, we derive simpler expressions for the wave field and establish a special function describing the tangency of two front sets. A transversely isotropic homogeneous elastic medium excited by a point force perpendicular to the anisotropic axis is considered. The wave field in this medium is constructed and investigated. The front sets of the SV and SH waves are in contact with one another at a point. The front sets in the vicinity of this point are investigated additionally. If we consider the SH wave (or the SV wave) separately, then a false plane front set arises in this region. In considering the SH and SV waves in combination, this false front set disappears. For the problem of waves due to an explosion above the surface of a homogeneous ocean of finite depth, asymptotic expressions of the velocity potential and the surface displacement are determined for large times and distances from the pressure area produced by the incident shock. It is shown that the first item in Sakurai's approximation scheme for the pressure field inside the, blast wave as well as the results of Taylor's point blast theory can be used to yield realistic expressions of surface displacement. Some interesting features of the wave motion in general are described. Finally some numerical calculations for the surface elevation were performed and included as a particular case.  相似文献

An investigation of BELENE Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) free field signal is presented in the current study. An SH wave propagation trough multilayer geological media in the region is considered. An original structural model of the geological column has been developed. The investigated layers are isotropic, with constant depth and skyline parallel. The SH rays are with an arbitrary angle as far as the layers are concerned. The seismic SH waves have been generated by a special detonation device. The main results of the study are graphically illustrated. A comparison between the original BELENE NPP experimental and the numerical surface (free field) signals (obtained by the formulated direct problem) for the investigated geological column has been carried out and its results are hereby shown.  相似文献

Space-time (ST) ray expansions in the presence of a caustic are used for the construction of an asymptotics of surface waves similar to the SH Love waves. Certain conditions which ensure the existence of surface waves with SH polarization are deduced. Some special cases of anisotropic media are indiceted where these conditions are satisfied. Using a boundary method, we investigated the scattering of elastic plane harmonic SH, SV, P, and Rayleigh waves by three-dimensional nonaxisymmetric dipping layers embedded in an elastic half-space. The valley was subjected to incident Rayleigh wave and oblique incident SH, SV, and P waves. The method utilized spherical wave functions to express the unknown scattered field. These functions satisfy the equation of motion and radiation conditions at infinity but they do not satisfy the stress-free boundary conditions at the surface of the half-space. The boundary and continuity conditions are imposed locally in the least-square-sense at several points on the layer interface and on the surface of the half-space. A comparative study was done to examine the validity and limitations of the two-dimensional approximations (antiplane and plane strain models) of three-dimensional models. It is demonstrated that the two-dimensional approximations may be inadequate to represent actual displacement field for three-dimensional irregularities.  相似文献

The asymptotics of high-frequency Love waves, which are analogous to transverse surface SH waves, is considered for a special type of anisotropy (transverse isotropy) of elastic media. The wave field is represented as a sum of the space-time (ST) caustic expansion and two additional ST ray series for faster (relative to the transverse surface wave) body waves, decaying exponentially with depth. Near the surface, the coefficients of the ST caustic and ray series, as well as the eikonals of waves, are determined in the form of expansions in a small parameter, which characterizes the proximity of the caustic of the ray field to the surface. With regard for the specific structure of the elasticity tensor of a transversely isotropic medium, the surface is treated as a plane. Propagation of nonlinear shear horizontal (SH) waves in a homogeneous, isotropic and incompressible elastic plate of uniform thickness is considered. The constituent material of the plate is assumed to be generalized neo-Hookean. By employing a perturbation method and balancing the weak nonlinearity and dispersion in the analysis, it is shown that the nonlinear modulation of waves is governed asymptotically by a nonlinear Schr?dinger (NLS) equation. Then the effect of nonlinearity on the propagation characteristics of asymptotic waves is discussed on the basis of this equation. It is found that, irrespective of the plate thickness, the wave number and the mode number, when the plate material is softening in shear then the nonlinear plane periodic waves are unstable under infinitesimal perturbations and therefore the bright (envelope) solitary SH waves will exist and propagate in such a plate. But if the plate material is hardening in shear in this case nonlinear plane periodic waves are stable and only the dark solitary SH waves may exist.  相似文献

The reflection and refraction of SH waves by an elastic layer sandwiched between two elastic half-spaces are studied by using the numerical simulation on the basis of contour integration in the complex plane of the horizontal component of the slowness vector. The propagation of body, channel, head, and screened body waves are simulated in time and spectral domains. The wave fields associated with the propagation in the layer have strong attenuation, provided that the wave length is smaller than the value of the thickness of the layer. The stationary wave field of such waves is of resonance nature. Moreover, the maximum of the modulus of the spectral function is shifted to higher frequences as the epicentric distance increases. The influence of magnetic field on the process of steepening or flattening of the characteristic wave fronts in a plane and cylindrically symmetric motion of an ideal plasma is investigated. This aspect of the problem has not been considered until now. Remarkable differences between plane, cylindrical diverging, and cylindrical converging waves are discovered. For instance, when the adiabatic index γ is 2, the magnetic field does not affect the behaviour of plane waves, but does affect cylindrical waves. As the field strength increases, the time tc taken for the shock formation varies monotonically for plane waves, while for cylindrical waves, in some situations tc exhibits a unique minimum for diverging waves and a unique maximum for converging waves. For cylindrical converging waves, a shock formation takes place if and only if, γ and the field strength are restricted to certain finite intervals. Moreover, tc is bounded in all cases except for cylindrical diverging waves. The discontinuity in the velocity gradient at the wave front is shown to satisfy a Bernoulli-type equation. The discussion of the solutions of such equations reported in the literature is shown to be incomplete, and three general theorems are established.  相似文献

The transient scattering of SH waves by sub-surface and interface cracks parallel to the free surface in a layered elastic solid is investigated. The problem in frequency domain is solved by using a hybrid method which combines the finite element method of the near field with the boundary integral representation of the far field. The transient responses are then obtained by inverting the spectra via fast Fourier transform with the incident pulse Ricker of wavelet. Numerical results are presented for the surface displacements, dynamic stress intensity factors and wave motion in the layered half-space. Furthermore, the propagations of reflected, diffracted, and direct impact waves at any instant are clearly identified by the present method. To understand the mechanism of elastic wave interaction is very important in the field of ultrasonic non-destructive evaluation (NDE) and fracture mechanics studies.  相似文献

The paper presents a study of propagation of shear wave (SH‐wave) in an orthotropic elastic medium under initial stress sandwiched by a homogeneous semi‐infinite medium and an inhomogeneous half‐space. The technique of separation of variables has been adopted to get the analytical solutions for the dispersion relation in a closed form. The propagation of SH‐waves is influenced by inhomogeneity parameters and initial stress parameter. Velocities of SH‐waves are calculated numerically for different cases. As a special case when the intermediate layer and half‐space are homogeneous, computed frequency equation coincides with general equation of Love wave. To study the effect of inhomogeneity parameters and initial stress parameter, we have plotted the velocity of SH‐wave in several figures and observed that the velocity of wave decreases with the increases of non‐dimensional wave number. It can be found that the phase velocity decreases with the increase of inhomogeneity parameters. We observed that the velocity of SH‐wave decreases with the increases of initial stress parameter in both homogeneous and inhomogeneous media. Recently, many authors have studied the following CH-γ equation:ut + c0ux + 3uux - α2(uxxt + uuxxx + 2uxuxx) + γuxxx =0,where α2, c0 and γ are paramters. Its bounded wave solutions have been investigated mainly for the case α2 > 0. For the case α2 < 0, the existence of three bounded waves (regular solitary waves,compactons, periodic peakons) was pointed out by Dullin et al. But the proof has not been given.In this paper, not only the existence of four types of bounded waves: periodic waves, compacton-like waves, kink-like waves, regular solitary waves, is shown, but also their explicit expressions or implicit expressions are given for the case α2 < 0. Some planar graphs of the bounded wave solutions and their numerical simulations are given to show the correctness of our results.  相似文献

A two-dimensional medium consisting of alternating elastic and fluid blocks along the x and z axes is considered. For this block medium, an effective model described by a system of equations is constructed by the method of matrix averaging. An investigation of the equations of this model enables one to separate two body waves from the wave field, to construct their fronts, and to obtain expressions for their velocities along the axes. The effective model is considered in the cases where the block medium is converted to a layered elastic-fluid medium, where all the blocks are of the same size, and where an elastic or a fluid medium occupies the entire volume. Rayleigh surface wave motion in a homogeneous orthotropic elastic solid half-space under time-harmonic sources is theoretically investigated. In this article, closed-form expressions of the Rayleigh wave field as a result of a time-harmonic concentrated line load are simply determined by using reciprocity theorems. For the verification purpose, analytical predictions are also obtained through Fourier transform technique with the aid of the residue theorem. The solutions found by the two approaches are shown to be mathematically the same. As an example of calculation, surface waves due to a set of buried loadings in the orthotropic half-plane are then examined in detail. A discussion of these results is presented to explore the influence of the loading types on the displacement amplitudes of the generated wave fields.  相似文献

Effects of initial stresses on the dispersion curves of Lamb and SH waves in multilayered PZT-4/PZT-5A composites are investigated using the polynomial expansion approach. The piezoelectric layers are considered with arbitrary crystal orientations with a result that only Lamb or SH waves may be transmitted. The problem is solved employing the Legendre polynomial approach that poses the advantages of numerically stability and effectiveness over conventional matrix method. The solution is validated by comparing the wave propagation behavior of piezoelectric materials with those reported in literature, and the convergence properties are examined. Numerical results demonstrate that initial stress has profound influences on the guided wave propagation in multilayered PZT-4/PZT-5A laminates. The phase velocity of Lamb and SH waves increases with initial tensile stresses. In addition, the effects of initial stresses rely on the wave mode and thickness of constituent layers and the stacking sequence of the constituent materials. The results are useful for understanding and optimization of new designs for actuator, electromechanical sensor and acoustic wave devices made of PZT-4/PZT-5A composites.  相似文献

Exact expressions in terms of characteristics for calculating the normal-stress waves propagating across the layers of different materials are deduced. A one-dimensional boundary-value problem is considered for a three-layer structure of sandwich type. The faces of the layered structure are free from loads or one of them is rigidly fixed (variant 1), or one face is rigidly fixed and the other is subjected to an impact of a mass M with a speedV0 (variant 2). For the boundary conditions of variant 1, relationships are obtained which allow one to reduce the analytical continuation of a solution in time to a periodic procedure if solely the initial disturbances of the strain field in the layers are given. It is shown that, in this case, the Cauchy problem with the initial strain field is reduced to graphoanalytically constructing the superposition patterns of the forward and backward waves. The fundamental features of the construction are demonstrated for a uniform bar with a piecewise constant distribution of strains along its length. To solve the problem of impact loading in variant 2, analytical results for a uniform plate are used, which allows us to account for the direction of mass forces in collision. In the latter case, the possibility of mass recoil is revealed in the first and second time cycles.
