Impedance measurements have been made on a lithium electrode in SOCl2 containing 1.8 M LiAlCl4. Impedance loci were recorded over a range of frequencies at a series of potentials.The results confirm the existence of a film on the Li electrode which grows continuously with time. Kinetic data for the Li+/Li ion exchange were estimated by arranging for measurements to be made as rapidly as possible and after a practical minimum time of electrode/electrolyte contact. The exchage current density for the lithium electrode was estimated under our best conditions to be 0.48 mA/cm2 and α for the Li+ couple ≈ 0.59.  相似文献

A paraffin phase-change measurement method for the heat generation of spirally wound cylindrical Li/SOCl2 and Li/SO2 batteries at different ambient temperatures and discharge currents is proposed. The electrical and thermal insulations of the measurement system have been greatly improved, and the accuracy of the measurement system is 4.6 % based on calibration experiments. Compared with accelerated rate calorimetry, isothermal microcalorimetry, and radiation calorimetry methods, the phase-change measurement method is simpler, but with a high accuracy. The experimental results reveal that the heat generation of the batteries during discharge is weakly dependent on the ambient temperature in the range of 38–50 °C, but strongly affected by the discharge current. As the discharge current increases, the heat generated by the Li/SOCl2 and Li/SO2 batteries increases as a quadratic polynomial function. The Li/SO2 battery generates more heat than the Li/SOCl2 battery at the same discharge current, which is demonstrated by the qualitative analysis of the internal resistance. Furthermore, the phase-change measurement method for heat generation has a strong universality, and can be applicable for heat generation measurement of various battery types.  相似文献

Stability of the electrolyte toward reduced oxygen species generated at the cathode is a crucial challenge for the rechargeable nonaqueous Li-O(2) battery. Here, we investigate dimethylformamide as the basis of an electrolyte. Although reactions at the O(2) cathode on the first discharge-charge cycle are dominated by reversible Li(2)O(2) formation/decomposition, there is also electrolyte decomposition, which increases on cycling. The products of decomposition at the cathode on discharge are Li(2)O(2), Li(2)CO(3), HCO(2)Li, CH(3)CO(2)Li, NO, H(2)O, and CO(2). Li(2)CO(3) accumulates in the electrode with cycling. The stability of dimethylformamide toward reduced oxygen species is insufficient for its use in the rechargeable nonaqueous Li-O(2) battery.  相似文献

Multiwalled carbon nanotube (MWCNT)‐templated cobalt phthalocyanine (CoPc) assemblies are prepared by microwave reaction with the aid of NH4Cl. The assemblies of CoPc/MWCNTs are added to the electrolyte of Li/SOCl2 battery to show their potential application in the field of catalysis. The assemblies display a uniform coaxial nanotube structure. In the control test, the CoPc/MWCNTs synthesized without NH4Cl exhibit the aggregation of the nanotubes of CoPc/MWCNTs. It indicates that the use of NH4Cl as gas source is efficient in enhancing diffusion of the MWCNTs and controlling the growth of CoPc. The catalytic reduction of SOCl2 can be carried out by CoPc molecules outside the assemblies and the MWCNTs inside the assemblies. The assemblies of CoPc/ MWCNTs exhibit excellent electrochemical catalytic activity to Li/SOCl2 battery. The discharge energy of Li/SOCl2 battery catalyzed by CoPc/MWCNTs is 144% higher than that of the battery without catalyst, and is 94% higher than the energy of Li/SOCl2 battery catalyzed by bulk CoPc.  相似文献

The present study reports superior electrochemical performance with capacity doubled for organic positive electrodes based on a small redox-active molecule when using the Lithium Metal Polymer (LMP) technology. Particularly, the simple use of the regular solid polymer electrolyte currently employed in commercial LMP cells allows obtaining for the first time an efficient two-electron cycling of tetramethoxy-p-benzoquinone with high-rate capability at temperatures as high as 100 °C. With no optimization, the restored capacity represents 80% of the theoretical value (190 mAh/g) after 20 cycles operated at a C rate. On the contrary, when cycled in conventional carbonate-based electrolytes, this quinone compound exhibits quite poor electrochemical features such as a very limited depth of discharge (~ 50% of the theoretical capacity in the first cycle) followed by rapid capacity decay. After cycling, preliminary post-mortem characterizations did not evidence any obvious degradation in the cell. Although the adverse effect of the diffusion of the active material is not fully inhibited, the coulombic efficiency is close to 100% while the Li/electrolyte interface appears stable.  相似文献
