Chaotic vibrations of flexible non-linear Euler-Bernoulli beams subjected to harmonic load and with various boundary conditions(symmetric and non-symmetric)are studied in this work.Reliability of the obtained results is verified by the finite difference method(FDM)and the finite element method(FEM)with the Bubnov-Galerkin approximation for various boundary conditions and various dynamic regimes(regular and non-regular).The influence of boundary conditions on the Euler-Bernoulli beams dynamics is studied mainly,dynamic behavior vs.control parameters { ωp,q0 } is reported,and scenarios of the system transition into chaos are illustrated.  相似文献

This paper proposes a hybrid vertex-centered finite volume/finite element method for solution of the two dimensional (2D) incompressible Navier-Stokes equations on unstructured grids.An incremental pressure fractional step method is adopted to handle the velocity-pressure coupling.The velocity and the pressure are collocated at the node of the vertex-centered control volume which is formed by joining the centroid of cells sharing the common vertex.For the temporal integration of the momentum equations,an implicit second-order scheme is utilized to enhance the computational stability and eliminate the time step limit due to the diffusion term.The momentum equations are discretized by the vertex-centered finite volume method (FVM) and the pressure Poisson equation is solved by the Galerkin finite element method (FEM).The momentum interpolation is used to damp out the spurious pressure wiggles.The test case with analytical solutions demonstrates second-order accuracy of the current hybrid scheme in time and space for both velocity and pressure.The classic test cases,the lid-driven cavity flow,the skew cavity flow and the backward-facing step flow,show that numerical results are in good agreement with the published benchmark solutions.  相似文献

The dynamic behavior of partially delaminated at the skin/core interface sandwich plates with flexible cores is studied. The commercial finite element code ABAQUS is used to calculate natural frequencies and mode shapes of the sandwich plates containing a debonding zone. The influence of the debonding size, debonding location and types of debonding on the modal parameters of damaged sandwich plates with various boundary conditions is investigated. The results of dynamic analysis illustrated that they can be useful for analyzing practical problems related to the non-destructive damage detection of partially debonded sandwich plates.  相似文献

研究多自由度非线性不确定参数系统的动力响应问题. 以区间数学为基础,将不确定 性参数用区间进行定量化,借助一阶Taylor级数,给出了近似估计非线性振动系统动力响 应范围的区间分析方法. 从数学证明和数值算例两方面,将其与概率摄动有限元法进行了比 较,结果显示区间分析方法对不确定参数先验信息具有要求较少、精度较高的优点.  相似文献

针对工程中广泛存在的弯矩作用下板结构的振动问题,分别建立四边固定、三边固定一边自由、两对边固定两对边自由的3种不同边界条件下板的振动模型;基于有限元法计算振动板的频率响应,计算了各节点振动速度的平方和;运用部分追加法正交试验方案分别对板厚、边界条件、板的损耗因子三因素三水平、激励点位置四水平进行了正交试验。实例结果表明,以速度平方和的大小为目标,影响薄板振动的主次因素顺序为:损耗因子、板厚、边界、激励点位置;当振动板两对边固定另两对边自由支承、板厚为0.014m、在(0.5m,0.4m)点处激励且板的损耗因子为0.0008时,此组合为薄板结构振动最小的最优组合。  相似文献

This study deals with stress analysis of annular rotating discs made of functionally graded materials(FGMs).Elasticity modulus and density of the discs are assumed to vary radially according to a power law function,but the material is of constant Poisson’s ratio.A gradient parameter n is chosen between 0 and 1.0.When n = 0,the disc becomes a homogeneous isotropic material.Tangential and radial stress distributions and displacements on the disc are investigated for various gradient parameters n by means of the diverse elasticity modulus and density by using analytical and numerical solutions.Finally,a homogenous tangential stress distribution and the lowest radial stresses along the radius of a rotating disc are approximately obtained for the gradient parameter n = 1.0 compared with the homogeneous,isotropic case n = 0.This means that a disc made of FGMs has the capability of higher angular rotations compared with the homogeneous isotropic disc.  相似文献

A thermomechanical model of a shape memory alloy beam bending under tip force loading is implemented in finite element codes.The constitutive model is a one dimensional model which is based on free energy and motivated by statistical thermodynamics.The particular focus of this paper is on the aspects of finite element modeling and simulation of the inhomogeneous beam bending problem.This paper extends previous work which is based on the small deformation Euler-Bernoulli beam theory and by treating an SMA beam as consisting of multi-layers in a twodimensional model.The flux terms are involved in the heat transfer equation.The simulations can represent both shape memory effect and super-elastic behavior.Different thermal boundary condition effect and load rate effect can also be captured.  相似文献

The problem of geometrically non-linear steady state vibrations of beams excited by harmonic forces is considered in this paper. The beams are made of a viscoelastic material defined by the classic Zener rheological model - the simplest model that takes into account all the basic properties of real viscoelastic materials. The constitutive stress-strain relationship for this type of material is given as a differential equation containing derivatives of both stress and strain. This significantly complicates the solution to the problem. The von Karman theory is applied to describe the effects of geometric nonlinearities of beam deformations. The equations of motions are derived using the finite element methodology. A polynomial approximation of bending moments is used. The order of basis functions is set so as to obtain a coherent approximation of moments and displacements. In the steady-state solution of equations of motion, only one harmonic is taken into account. The matrix equations of amplitudes are derived using the harmonic balance method and the continuation method is applied for solving them. The tangent matrix of equations of amplitudes is determined in an explicit form. The stability of steady-state solution is also examined. The resonance curves for beams supported in a different way are shown and the results of calculation are briefly discussed.  相似文献

Particle interactions play a significant role in controlling the performance of dry powder inhalers (DPIs), which mainly arise through van der Waals potentials, electrostatic interactions, and capillary forces. Our aim is to investigate the influence of electrostatic charge on the performance of DPIs as a basis for improving the formulation of the particle ingredients. The mixing process of carrier and active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) particles in a vibrating container is investigated using a discrete element method (DEM). The number of API particles attaching to the carrier particle (i.e., contact number) increases with increasing charge and decreases with increasing container size. The contact number decreases with increasing vibrational velocity amplitude and frequency. Moreover, a mechanism governed by the electrostatic force is proposed for the mixing process. This mechanism is different from that previously proposed for the mixing process governed by van der Waals forces, indicating that long-range and short-range adhesive forces can result in different mixing behaviours.  相似文献

This paper presents a combined application of the finite element method (FEM) and the differential quadrature method (DQM) to vibration and buckling problems of rectangular plates. The proposed scheme combines the geometry flexibility of the FEM and the high accuracy and efficiency of the DQM. The accuracy of the present method is demonstrated by comparing the obtained results with those available in the literature. It is shown that highly accurate results can be obtained by using a small number of finite elements and DQM sample points. The proposed method is suitable for the problems considered due to its simplicity and potential for further development.  相似文献

Abstract

In this paper, details of the design work for a tuned vibration absorber to be used on a hollow cylindrical structure is presented. The vibration problem is of resonant type and the tuned vibration absorber is designed to suppress the displacement vibration response of the free end of the slender hollow structure dominated by the contribution of its lowest transverse vibration modes. The structure is modeled using a commercial finite element software. Finite element model of the structure is verified using experimentally obtained frequency response functions and modal parameters. Effective parameters of the tuned vibration absorber design are then determined based on finite element analysis simulations of the vibration suppression performance of the tuned vibration absorber as it is used on the structure. Details of the tuned vibration absorber design are determined and a prototype is fabricated. Prototype tuned vibration absorber is then characterized experimentally both as a standalone system and also as it is used on the main structure. Vibration reduction performance of the physical prototype of the tuned vibration absorber is also compared with its vibration reduction performance estimated from finite element analysis simulations so that the analysis based design process can be validated.

This paper presents a comparative study of methods used for the analysis of the stability of rock slopes for hydropower projects. The comparison concerns the application of the limit equilibrium method, the block element method, and the finite element method on the stability analysis of two hydropower engineering projects in China. The study results show that the limit equilibrium method and the block element method give very close result, while the finite element method gives more conservative safety factor.  相似文献

A sharp interface problem arising in the flow of two immiscible fluids, slag and molten metal in a blast furnace, is formulated using a two-dimensional model and solved numerically. This problem is a transient two-phase free or moving boundary problem, the slag surface and the slag–metal interface being the free boundaries. At each time step the hydraulic potential of each fluid satisfies the Laplace equation which is solved by the finite element method. The ordinary differential equations determining the motion of the free boundaries are treated using an implicit time-stepping scheme. The systems of linear equations obtained by discretization of the Laplace equations and the equations of motion of the free boundaries are incorporated into a large system of linear equations. At each time step the hydraulic potential in the interior domain and its derivatives on the free boundaries are obtained simultaneously by solving this linear system of equations. In addition, this solution directly gives the shape of the free boundaries at the next time step. The implicit scheme mentioned above enables us to get the solution without handling normal derivatives, which results in a good numerical solution of the present problem. A numerical example that simulates the flow in a blast furnace is given.  相似文献

运用边光滑有限元法,研究分析了加筋板结构的静力和自由振动问题。在边光滑有限元法中,将基于边的应变光滑技术用于对原来的应变场进行光滑操作;由于应变光滑技术能够适当地软化原来过刚的有限元模型,从而能够得到更加接近于系统准确刚度的光滑有限元模型;鉴于三角形单元良好的适用性,选用三角形单元对模型进行网格划分;同时,为了解决低阶Reissner-Mindlin板单元弯曲过程中的横向剪切自锁问题,采用了一种新型的离散剪切间隙技术。算例的数值计算结果表明,与传统的有限元法相比,边光滑有限元法能够得到精度更高的计算结果,且收敛更快,计算效率更佳。  相似文献

A circular cylinder placed in a uniform flow, and that spans the entire length between two side walls, may experience either parallel or oblique vortex shedding depending on the end conditions. It was shown by Mittal and Sidharth (2014) that the spatio-temporal periodicity of the oblique vortex shedding results in constant-in-time force experienced by the cylinder. On the contrary, parallel vortex shedding leads to fluid force that fluctuates with time. The free vibrations of a circular cylinder, in the presence of a wall, are investigated. For comparison, computations with end walls, where a slip condition on velocity is specified, are also carried out. The Reynolds number, based on the diameter of the cylinder and free-stream speed of the flow, is Re=100. The initial condition for the free vibrations is the fully developed unsteady flow past a stationary cylinder with oblique shedding. It is found that as the amplitude of vibration of the cylinder builds up, the vortices shed from the cylinder align with its axis leading to parallel shedding. The response of the cylinder is associated with two branches: initial and lower. On the lower branch, the response of the cylinder is virtually identical from two- and three-dimensional computations. The flow as well as the response is different on the initial branch and outside the synchronization regime. Forced vibrations confirm the phenomena.  相似文献

A new method is presented for the solution of free-boundary problems using Lagrangian finite element approximations defined on locally refined grids. The formulation allows for direct transition from coarse to fine grids without introducing non-conforming basis functions. The calculation of elemental stiffness matrices and residual vectors are unaffected by changes in the refinement level, which are accounted for in the loading of elemental data to the global stiffness matrix and residual vector. This technique for local mesh refinement is combined with recently developed mapping methods and Newton's method to form an efficient algorithm for the solution of free-boundary problems, as demonstrated here by sample calculations of cellular interfacial microstructure during directional solidification of a binary alloy.  相似文献

To simulate filling flow in injection moulding for viscoelastic fluids, a numerical method, based on a finite element method and a finite volume method, has been developed for incompressible isothermal viscoelastic flow with moving free surfaces. The advantages of this method are, first, good applicability to arbitrarily shaped mould geometries and, second, accurate treatment for boundary conditions on the free surface. Typical filling flows are simulated, namely filling flow into a 1:4 expansion cavity with and without an obstacle. Numerical results predict the position of weld lines and air-traps. The method also indicates the effects of elongational flow on molecular orientation.  相似文献
