We provide a formula for the Taylor–Browder spectrum of a pair (L a , R b ) of left and right multiplication operators acting on a prime C*-algebra with non-zero socle. We also compute ascent and descent for multiplication operators on a prime ring, characterise Browder elements in a prime C*-algebra and discuss upper semicontinuity for the Browder spectrum.  相似文献

In this paper we consider a C*-subalgebra of the algebra of all bounded operators B(l2(X)) on the Hilbert space l2(X)) with one generating element T φ induced by a mapping φ of a set X into itself. We prove that such a C* -algebra has an AF-subalgebra and establish commutativity conditions for the latter. We prove that a C* -algebra generated by a mapping produces a dynamic system such that the corresponding group of automorphisms is invariant on elements of the AF- subalgebra.  相似文献

In this paper, we give a class of C*-algebras with non-stable K 1-group property which include the example non-simple tracial topological rank zero and stable rank two C*-algebra given by Lin and Osaka.  相似文献

We prove the following two improvements of a result of Becker. (1) If A is a pro-C*-algebra, then every derivation on A is approximately inner. (2) If A is a separable σ-C*-algebra, and if every C* quotient of A has the property that every derivation on it is inner, then also every derivation on A is inner. We also give an example of a derivation on a separable σ-C*-algebra which is not inner but which induces an inner derivation on every C* quotient.  相似文献

A C*-algebra generated by a commuting family of isometries is a natural generalization of the Toeplitz algebra. We study the *-automorphisms and invariant ideals of the C*-algebra geerated by a semigroup.  相似文献

LetS be a pure subnormal operator such thatC*(S), theC*-algebra generated byS, is generated by a unilateral shiftU of multiplicity 1. We obtain conditions under which 5 is unitarily equivalent toα + βU, α andβ being scalars orS hasC*-spectral inclusion property. It is also proved that if in addition,S hasC*-spectral inclusion property, then so does its dualT andC*(T) is generated by a unilateral shift of multiplicity 1. Finally, a characterization of quasinormal operators among pure subnormal operators is obtained.  相似文献

In this paper, we show that a topologically irreducible * representation of a realC*-algebra is also algebraically irreducible. Moreover, the properties of pure real states on a realC*-algebra and their left kernels are discussed.Partially supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China.  相似文献

Unbounded C*-seminorms generated by families of biweights on a partial *-algebra are considered and the admissibility of biweights is characterized in terms of unbounded C*-seminorms they generate. Furthermore, it is shown that, under suitable assumptions, when the family of biweights consists of all those ones which are relatively bounded with respect to a given C*-seminorm q, it can be obtained an expression for q analogous to that one which holds true for the norm of a C*-algebra.  相似文献

We endow any proper A-convex H*-algebra (E, τ) with a locally pre-C*-topology. The latter is equivalent to that introduced by the pre C*-norm given by Ptàk function when (E, τ) is a Q-algebra. We also prove that the algebra of complex numbers is the unique proper locally A-convex H*-algebra which is barrelled and Q-algebra.   相似文献

Tracial Limit of C^*-algebras   总被引:4,自引:0,他引:4
A new limit of C^*-algebras, the tracial limit, is introduced in this paper. We show that a separable simple C^*-algebra A is a tracial limit of C^*-algebras in Z-(k) if and only if A has tracial topological rank no more than k. We present several known results using the notion of tracial limits.  相似文献

We show that all rapid-decay locally compact groups are unimodular and that the set of rapid-decay functions on a locally compact rapidly decaying group forms a dense and spectral invariant Fréchet *-subalgebra of the reduced group C *-algebra. In general, the set of rapid-decay functions on a locally compact strongly rapid-decay group with values in a commutative C *-algebra forms a dense and spectral invariant Fréchet *-subalgebra of the twisted crossed product C *-algebra. The spectral invariance property implies that the K-theories of both algebras are naturally isomorphic under inclusion. This project is supported in part by the National Science Foundation Grant #DMS 92-04005.  相似文献

Let be a C*-algebra with unit 1. For each a ∈ , the C*-algebra numerical range is defined by V(a) = {φ(a): φ ∈ , φ ≥ 0,φ(1) = 1}. In a 2003 paper Li, Rodman and Spitkovsky have found the ω-th roots of elements in C*-algebra under a numerical range condition, when ω ∈ [1,∞). In this paper, we will give a short proof of the above result in the case of ω is a positive integer number. We also give a simple proof for ω-th root of an element a ∈ , when ω ∈ [1,∞) and V(a)∩ {z ∈ ℂ: z ≤ 0} = . In this paper injective real W*-algebras are investigated. It is shown that injectivity is equivalent to the property of E (extension property). It is proven that a real W*-algebra is injective iff its hermitian part is injective, and it is equivalent to, that the enveloping W*-algebra is also injective. Moreover, it is shown that if the second dual space of a real C*-algebra is injective, then the real C*-algebra is nuclear.  相似文献

The aim of the present (mostly expository) paper is to show the relationship of a generalization of Kazhdan’s property (T) for C*-algebras introduced in our recent paper to that of B. Bekka. It is shown that our definition coincides with Bekka’s definition for group C*-algebras of locally compact groups, whereas, in general, these definitions are distinct. Criteria for a C*-algebra to possess our property (T) are given. A number of examples of C*-algebras with and without property (T) are considered. Relations to K-theory are studied.
