We derive concise expressions for the intensity of radiation emitted by an oscillating polarization sheet located at an interface between two media. The expressions find application in a number of experimental situations involving scattering or secondharmonic generation at an interface. As an application we discuss the angular dependence of p-polarized second-harmonic light emitted by a layer of adsorbed molecules stimulated by s-polarized incident radiation.  相似文献

应用共路外差干涉法分析了牛顿望远镜的偏振特性。根据菲涅耳定律求出了入射光s-偏光和p-偏光入射到望远镜各点的反射率公式。给出了共路外差干涉法测量牛顿望远镜偏振特性的实验装置原理图。采用632.8nm的外差光源,分析了牛顿望远镜对s-偏光和p-偏光反射系数、相位差以及对入射光偏振度的影响,根据入射角度的不同绘制了相应的变化曲线。结果表明:镀有铝膜的牛顿望远镜对入射光偏振特性影响较小,s-偏光和p-偏光反射系数相差不到0.01,偏振度变化不超过0.07,适用于激光遥感偏振成像的接收系统。  相似文献

基于琼斯矩阵和菲涅耳公式,建立了偏振光透过LiNbO3晶体的分析模型,研究了入射光偏振态、晶压等参数对输出光偏振态和p偏振态、s偏振态透射率的影响规律。搭建了分别含单块LiNbO3晶体、LiNbO3晶体和薄片、两块串联LiNbO3晶体的Ho,Tm,Cr:YAG激光电光调Q实验装置,并测得了输出激光的偏振态、输出能量等随晶压的变化关系曲线。  相似文献

We demonstrate efficient modification of the polarized light emission from single semiconductor nanowires by coupling this emission to surface plasmon polaritons on a metal grating. The polarization anisotropy of the emitted photoluminescence from single nanowires is compared for wires deposited on silica, a flat gold film, and a shallow gold grating. By varying the orientation of the nanowire with respect to the grating grooves, the large intrinsic polarization anisotropy can be either suppressed or enhanced. This modification is interpreted by the appearance of an additional emission channel induced by surface plasmon polaritons and their conversion to p-polarized radiation at the grating.  相似文献

We have developed an optical stack of holographically formed polymer dispersed liquid-crystal (H-PDLC) devices that is fully operational with nonpolarized light sources. The device consists of two H-PDLC transmission gratings separated by a passive polarization rotator that can output a diffracted s-polarized, p-polarized, or s- and p-polarized beam simultaneously.  相似文献

Laser-induced desorption of metal atoms from the surface of small metal particles has been investigated as a function of the shape of the particles and the polarization of the incident laser light. The particles were supported on LiF, quartz or sapphire substrates. In a first set of experiments, the shape of the particles was determined by recording optical transmission spectra with s- and p-polarized light incident under an angle of typically 40° with respect to the surface normal. The metal particles turn out to be oblate, the ratio of the axes perpendicular and parallel to the substrate surface being on the order of 0.5. This ratio decreases with increasing particle size. Also, the particles change shape if the temperature is raised. In further experiments, s- and p-polarized light has been used to stimulate desorption of atoms via surface plasmon excitation. It is found that the desorption rate markedly depends on the polarization of the light. This is explained by excitation of the collective electron oscillation along different axes of the non-spherical particles.  相似文献

The scattering of linearly or circularly polarized light from a semi-infinite randomly inhomogeneous medium is considered. Using the Monte Carlo method, it is shown that, in the case of a wide front of incident and scattered optical radiation and irrespective of the degree of scattering anisotropy, the copolarized component of backscattered light dominates the cross-polarized component for the linear polarization and the cross-polarized component dominates the copolarized component for the circular polarization. If the beams of incident and scattered radiation are spatially separated and the size of scatterers exceeds the wavelength, the circular copolarized component dominates the cross-polarized one. A similar effect of the change in direction of the rotation of the plane of polarization in relation to the size of scatterers is revealed for pulsed radiation.  相似文献

利用琼斯矩阵(Jones matrix) 方法对C60掺杂向列相液晶中光栅衍射选择性进行分析.给出两束p 偏振光在液晶样品中产生相位全息光栅的透射矩阵,通过探测光的矢量和光栅透射矩阵的琼斯矩阵运算,可以探测衍射光束的偏振态与入射光偏振态的关系.分析发现对于p 偏振的探测光,透射光和正、负一阶衍射光的偏振态均为p 偏振,且正、负一阶衍射效率相同;对于s 偏振的探测光只有透射光存在,可见记录的相位光栅表现出光栅衍射的选择性.  相似文献

由于斜入射时,光学薄膜存在一定的偏振效应,将产生S-和P-偏振光的光谱分离.在Philips棱镜系统中,分色合色膜系通常分色时对S-光应用,合色时则对P-光应用.从提高光能利用率、减少杂散光和增加系统对比度等因素综合考虑,要求分色合色膜系的S-和P-偏振光的分离尽可能小.新设计方法采用宽带法布里-珀罗薄膜干涉滤光片中心波长两侧的干涉带作为长波通或短波通截止滤光片,可实现S-和P-偏振分量的分离几乎为零.  相似文献

利用前向箭并四波混频光路,在偶氮苯聚合物薄膜表面制作出六角对称的晶体微结构,观察到多个相位共轭波,当三束入射光都处在p偏振态时,在样品表面可得到一维光栅,当三束入射光中有一束在p偏振态,另两束在s偏振态时,在样品表面上得到的是六角对称微结构,这一结果表明,光场强度周期性变化及光场偏振态对晶格微结构的形成非常重要。  相似文献

In a great number of papers that deal with the study of the magneto-optic diffraction (MOD), theoretical analysis and interpretation of experimental data are performed without regard for reflection effects of the incident and diffracted light beams on the entrance and exit surfaces of the transparent film. In consequence the MOD parameters are not connected with the angle of light incidence and the orientation of the incident light polarization plane. In the present work the reflection effects are taken into account. For the Raman-Nat diffraction region the general expressions involving the relationships of diffracted light polarization and intensity with the symmetry of the grating, angle of incidence and polarization of the incident light are obtained. In particular it is shown that even for a symmetrical grating the polarization of the zeroth-order diffracted beam differs from that of the incident light, and the polarization of higher-order beams differs from the orthogonal one providing that the incident light is not s- or p-polarized. A maximum in the angular dependence of diffraction efficiency is predicted being observed experimentally.  相似文献

Polarization characteristics of light interaction with the photonic crystal of a-SiO2 synthetic opals were studied under the conditions of low dielectric contrast. We analyzed 3D diffraction patterns of monochromatic light and calculated optical transmission spectra of oriented samples. The diffraction patterns are found to change with the polarization of incident light, indicating a strong polarization dependence of photonic stop bands in synthetic opals. It is shown theoretically there exists a critical angle, θc, of the p-polarized light incident on the (h k l) crystal plane, at which the resonance contribution to Bragg diffraction vanishes.  相似文献

A novel polarization-sensitive surface plasmon resonance (SPR) biosensing/imaging scheme is proposed. The scheme uses a periodical spatial phase modulation of the pumping beam of a mixed polarization in the Kretschmann–Raether geometry and takes advantage of SPR-based polarizing effect to drastically absorb p-polarized component changing the resulting polarization state of the beam. The scheme then uses Fourier Transformation to efficiently treat and filter spatially-modulated polarization-sensitive signals and thus to extract and process selected SPR-based response. This approach offers a much higher accuracy of measurements in SPR-based multi-sensing and remote sensing.  相似文献

The depolarization behavior of backscattered linearly polarized light from ZnO thin film was investigated experimentally. The results show that the characteristics are related to both the polarization orientation and wavelength of linearly polarized incident light. When the incident light is s-polarized, the depolarization behaviors are different for different wavelengths. When the incident light is p-polarized, the depolarization behaviors, on the contrary, are similar for different wavelengths. In addition, there is an optimal incident angle for depolarization of linearly polarized light with different wavelengths, which is equal to their effective Brewster angles, respectively.  相似文献

Infrared absorption enhancement of m- and p-nitrobenzoic acid deposited on thin-evaporated silver films has been investigated using the Kretschmann's ATR coupling method. The absorption spectra provide direct evidence that enhancement is prominent only for vibrations of the first monolayer adsorbed on the Ag surface. It is shown that all of the vibrational modes observed obey the normal dipole selection rule. Moreover, it was found that there exist two types of absorption enhancement; the first is enhanced (300) by both p- and s-polarized radiation, and the second is enhanced (60) by p-polarized radiation alone. The Ag film thickness optimum is about 50 Å in the former case and about 200 Å in the latter. The enhancement insensitive to the polarization state of radiation can well be explained by the excitation of the transverse collective electron resonance of the Ag islands, whereas that obtained by p-polarized radiation may be due to the excitation of delocalized surface plasmons modified by surface roughness. The image-dipole effect may also be significant in the mechanisms.  相似文献

An aluminum reflection grating made holographically was found to display polarization anomalies when illuminated with p-polarized light. Additional anomalies were detected for both p- and s-polarizations after the grating was coated with a layer of dielectric (410 nm of photoresist). These new anomalies have been interpreted in terms of the optical guided modes of a thin film dielectric waveguide bounded on one side by metal and on the other by vacuum.  相似文献

Based on the total internal reflection of p-polarized light and the phase-shifting interferometry, an alternative method for measuring the two-dimensional refractive index distribution of a material is presented. The p-polarized light is incident on the boundary between a right-angle prism and a tested material. When the total internal reflection occurs at the boundary, and the p-polarized light has a phase variation. It depends on the refractive index of the tested material. Firstly, the two-dimensional phase variation distribution of the p-polarized light at the boundary is measured by the four-step phase shifting interferometric technique. Then, substituting the data into the special equations derived from Fresnel equations, the two-dimensional refractive index distribution of the tested material can be obtained.  相似文献

An embedded metal-wire nanograting is designed and fabricated for the first time to our knowledge. This artificial material could be used as a broadband polarizing beam splitter to reflect s-polarized light and transmit p-polarized light. An upper-cladding layer of the same material as the gratings is deposited on the ridge of the gratings, whereas the metal wire is deposited in the grating trenches. This embedded structure makes the grating more firm in its applications. High polarization efficiency and low insertion loss with a broad wavelength range (900-1700 nm) and a wide angular tolerance are obtained by optimization of the designed structure.  相似文献

Utilizing a polarization sensitive terahertz detection method where the detector is rotated by either 0° or 90° to measure the electric field Ep, s (t) of each polarization component, we have characterized the properties of split ring resonators. The strong polarization dependence of the bianisotropic-circular-current-driven and linear-polarization-induced resonances is in excellent agreement with the simulation when the p-polarized terahertz transmission is measured. However, these electromagnetic responses vanish when the s-polarized terahertz transmission is measured. There is only a transmission minimum at 1.64 THz and the terahertz polarization rotation angle of about 90° is observed. The polarized terahertz transmission amplitudes and spectra detected at orthogonal orientations show that these behaviours are probably attributed to the birefringent effect of the sample.  相似文献

The reflection and transmittance of s- and p-polarized lights should be treated separately at nonzero angle incidence. By choosing two special film materials whose refractive indices meet the Brewster condition in a given incident angle, the reflection of p-polarized light can be eliminated. When the two materials are fabricated into multilayer stacks, the reflection of s-polarized light can be largely increased while the reflection of p-polarized light keeps low. According to this principle, a film polarizer with bandwidth of 198 nm or even more is designed.  相似文献
