The roton spectrum of superfluid helium apparently has a threshold for phonon emission and absorption processes. We calculate the roton spectral function near the threshold for phonon emission in order to determine the effect of the phonon emission process on the roton line width. The spectral function develops a line shape anomaly due to a strong energy dependence of the roton self-energy. The line width is generally smaller than the sum of the phonon emission rate and the roton-roton collision rate. We also derive the ultrasonic attenuation due to the absorption of phonons by thermal rotons above the threshold.  相似文献

A quantum mechanical superposition of a long-lived, localized phonon and a matter excitation is described. We identify a realization in strained silicon: a low-lying donor transition (P or Li) driven solely by acoustic phonons at wavelengths where high-Q phonon cavities can be built. This phonon-matter resonance is shown to enter the strongly coupled regime where the "vacuum" Rabi frequency exceeds the spontaneous phonon emission into noncavity modes, phonon leakage from the cavity, and phonon anharmonicity and scattering. We introduce a micropillar distributed Bragg reflector Si/Ge cavity, where Q?10(5)-10(6) and mode volumes V?25λ(3) are reachable. These results indicate that single or many-body devices based on these systems are experimentally realizable.  相似文献

利用高温熔融法制备了不同Li~+含量的掺杂Yb~(3+)、Tm~(3+)的硅酸盐玻璃样品,玻璃样品在980 nm半导体激光器的泵浦下能够产生477 nm的蓝光和654 nm的红光。由上转换的荧光强度和泵浦功率的双对数拟合直线得到,添加Li~+能够增加上转换过程中Tm~(3+)向上跃迁的几率,Tm~(3+)的3F2和1G4能级的粒子数布居增加,从而提高辐射跃迁的几率。红外光谱和拉曼光谱表明Li~+的添加对玻璃基质的声子能量影响不大,却使得声子态密度减小,使上转换效率提高,从而提高Yb~(3+)、Tm~(3+)在硅酸盐玻璃中的发光强度。  相似文献

基于考虑了Fe-3d电子间的库仑作用U和交换作用J的GGA+U方案,应用第一性原理计算系统研究了LiFePO4的晶格动力学性质.我们计算并分析了玻恩有效电荷张量、布里渊区中心的声子频率和声子色散曲线.玻恩有效电荷张量显示各向异性,佐证了LiFePO4中锂离子沿一维通道[010]方向迁移的机理.布里渊区中心点声子频率的计算值和相应的实验结果符合得比较好. 关键词: 4')" href="#">LiFePO4 晶格动力学 第一性原理计算  相似文献

Amplified spontaneous emission and laser action have been observed at 77 K in KCL crystals containing the superoxide ion (O-2). The laser operates in two bands of width ~50 Å centered at 6350 Å and 5984 Å. These bands are the (lattice) phonon sidebands of vibronic transitions of the superoxide ion. At lower temperatures (~6 K) amplified spontaneous emission is observed in the zero phonon line at 6294 Å.  相似文献

Phonon-assisted cyclotron resonance (PACR) in GaAs quantum well (QW) structure is investigated via multi-photon absorption process when electrons interact with the confined acoustic phonon through deformation potential. The additional peaks in the absorption spectrum due to transitions between Landau levels accompanied with the emission and absorption of phonons are indicated. The dependence of absorption power on the temperature, magnetic field and well width is presented. Using profile method, we obtain PACR-linewidth as profiles of the curves. The temperature, magnetic field and well width dependences of the PACR-linewidth are investigated. The results are compared with those in the case of mono-photon absorption process, as well as in the electron-bulk acoustic phonon interaction. The results show that the multi-photon absorption process is strong enough to be detected in PACR.  相似文献

We present an experimental and theoretical study of the carrier capture time into a semiconductor quantum well. We observe for the first time the predicted oscillations of the phonon emission induced capture time experimentally and found good agreement with theory. Calculations show that not only does the LO phonon emission induced capture time (ph capture) oscillate as a function of well width, but also the carrier-carrier scattering induced capture time (c-c capture) oscillates by more than an order of magnitude as a function of the active layer design. Recently, it has been shown that the carrier capture time is directly related to the modulation bandwidth in a quantum well laser. As a result, it might be possible to tailor the modulation bandwidth by optimizing the capture efficiency using a proper design of the active layer in a quantum well laser.  相似文献

Lattice dynamics of lithium iron orthophosphate (LiFePO4) isostructural with olivine have been investigated using the first-principles calculations taking into account the on-site Coulomb interaction within the GGA + U scheme. Born effective charge tensors, phonon frequencies at the Brillouin zone center and phonon dispersion curves are calculated and analyzed. The Born effective charge tensors exhibit anisotropy, which gives a convincing evidence for the one-dimensional Li migration tunnel along the [010] direction in LiFePO4, which has been proposed by other theoretical calculations and experimental observation. The calculated phonon frequencies at the Γ point of the Brillouin zone show good agreement with the available experimental observations.  相似文献

Electro-modulation transmission (ET) spectra have been observed in Li doped crystals of NiO and MnO at phonon energies ∼ 0.4–2.5 eV and T < 230 °K. In each case we observe a broad temperature- sensitive peak, centred at 0.9 and 2.1 eV respectively, which we associate with charge carriers bound to Li centres. Modulation probably occurs through a small-polaron mechanism in NiO, and field- enhanced emission in MnO, but the exact mechanism is uncertain. Similar ET spectra have been observed in a doped ferrite.  相似文献

In this work, we have studied the inter- and intra-subband scattering of hot electrons in quantum wells using the hot electron-neutral acceptor luminescence technique. We have observed direct evidence of the emission of confined optical phonons by hot electrons excited slightly above the n=2 subband in GaAs/Al0.37Ga0.63As quantum wells. Scattering rates of photoexcited electrons via inter- and intra-subband LO phonon emission were calculated based on the dielectric continuum model. We found that, for wide wells with the Al composition of our experiments, both the calculated and experimental results suggest that the scattering of the electrons is dominated by the confined LO phonon mode. In the calculations, scatterings among higher subbands are also dominated by the same type of phonon at well width of 10 nm.  相似文献

采用有效质量近似下的变分法,考虑到电子同时与表面光学声子和体纵光学声子相互作用,研究了无限深量子阱中极化子的表面光学声子平均数,体纵光学声子平均数和光学声子平均数。讨论了电子与体纵光学声子耦合强度α,阱宽L和势垒材料AlxGa1-xAs中Al的含量x对上述光学声子平均数的影响。以GaAs/AlxGa1-xAs量子阱为例进行了数值计算。结果表明:量子阱中表面光学声子平均数随耦合强度α,阱宽L和Al含量x增大而增大。量子阱中体纵光学声子平均数随耦合强度α,阱宽L的增大而增大。光学声子平均数随耦合强度α,阱宽L和Al含量x的增大而增大。  相似文献

A new theory of the origin of SiC polytypes is presented in which the observed polytypes are stabilised as equilibrium phases at the high temperatures of growth, the structures becoming frozen in on cooling. Results of first principles pseudopotential total energy calculations show that the SiC polytypes containing only bands of width 2 and 3 are nearly degenerate in energy while all other polytypes have higher energies. We develop an inter-layer interaction model to describe the energies of the polytypes. Calculations of the phonon free energies of several SiC polytypes using the valence overlap shell model are described. These calculations show that the phonon free energy gives rise to effectively long ranged interactions between the SiC layers which can stabilise a large number of ordered polytypes as equilibrium phases.  相似文献

Taking into account the interaction of an electron with both bulk longitudinal-optical (BO) and surface-optical (SO) phonons, the cyclotron resonance of a magnetopolaron in a quantum well at finite temperatures is investigated by using the generalized Larsen perturbationtheory method. It is shown that the absorption and emission resonances must be considered at the same time at finite temperatures. The results also show that the electron-SO phonon interaction plays an important role as well as the electron-BO phonon interaction, especially when the quantum well width is getting thinner. For an experimentally interesting GaAs/Ga1-xAlxAs sandwich structure, the splitting of the cyclotron resonance spectrum and the temperature dependence of two splitting cyclotron resonance mass of the magnetopolaron in the resonant magnetic field region have been studied.  相似文献

The quantum theory of intraband magneto-optical transition in semiconductors introduced previously in terms of continued-fraction-based power-series-expansion technique is reviewed in connection with examination of temperature- and dimensional-dependence of the width in GaAs and CdS in which piezoelectric scattering is dominant. With the same values of the piezoelectric coupling constant K and the expansion parameter the width in two-dimensions increases with temperature as in three-dimensions. Furthermore, the width becomes smaller uniformly as the dimension is reduced in the direction of static magnetic field in the quantum limit, which is physical. Therefore, the continued-fraction-based theory gives quite good interpretation of the acoustic phonon scattering in the quantum limit.  相似文献

The acoustic phonon confinement in a free-standing quantum well (FSQW) results in an acoustic phonon energy quantization. Typical quantization energies are in the terahertz frequency range. Free electrons may absorb electromagnetic waves in this frequency range if they emit or absorb acoustic phonons. Therefore, the terahertz absorption reveals the characteristic features of the acoustic phonon spectrum in free-standing structures. We have calculated the absorption coefficient of an electromagnetic wave by free electrons in a FSQW in the terahertz frequency range. We took into account a time dependent electric field, an exact form of the acoustic phonon spectrum and eigenmodes, and electron interactions with confined acoustic phonons through the deformation potential. We demonstrate numerical results for GaAs FSQW of width 100 Å at low lattice temperatures in the frequency range 0.1-1 THz. The absorption coefficient exhibits several structures at frequencies corresponding to the lowest acoustic phonon modes. These features occur due to absorption of photons by electrons, which is accompanied by the emission of corresponding acoustic phonons.  相似文献

The effect of Li (0-5 wt%) doping on the properties of WO3 thin films deposited using an automated homemade spray pyrolysis unit is studied. Change in structural and optical properties is observed on doping with Li. The XRD patterns shows that undoped WO3 film has an orthorhombic phase while the Li (1-5 wt%) doped WO3 films have tetragonal phase. The SEM and AFM images confirm relatively smooth surface of Li doped WO3 films compared to undoped WO3 film. Transmission spectra reveal that the transparency of the Li-doped films is much greater than that of undoped film. From the transmission data, the direct, indirect bandgap and phonon energies were calculated. Room temperature photoluminescence spectra showed pronounced blue emission on doping with Li.  相似文献

We report photoluminescence (PL) and reflectivity measurements of Zn0.5Cd0.5Se epilayers grown by molecular beam epitaxy on InP substrates. The low-temperature PL spectra are dominated by asymmetric lines, which can be deconvoluted into two Gaussian peaks with a separation of ∼8 meV. The behavior of these peaks is studied as a function of excitation intensity and temperature, revealing that these are free exciton (FE) and bound exciton emission lines. Two lower energy emission lines are also observed and assigned to the first and second longitudinal optical phonon replicas of the FE emission. The temperature dependence of the intensity, line width, and energy of the dominant emission lines are described by an Arrhenius plot, a Bose-Einstein type relationship, Varshni's and Bose-Einstein equations, respectively.  相似文献
