Compton scattering method has been used as a possible tool in the study of the properties of soil for agricultural purposes. In this study, the soil water is determined by using Compton scattering method. The soil sample was collected from Erzurum and a 2 × 2 in. NaI (Tl) scintillation detector measured Compton scattered radiation from the soil sample. The radioactive source used in the experiment was a 133Ba. The soil samples were irrigated by adding known quantities of water and a standard curve was constructed with the amount of water added versus Compton scattering intensity. It was observed that Compton scattering method in measurement of the soil water has advantages such as practical, inexpensive, non‐destructive and fast analysis. Intermediate energy nuclear photoabsorption and Compton scattering within the Δ-hole approach are studied. The same Δ-nucleus dynamics used to describe a variety of pion-induced reactions are employed. A dynamical model for the photon-nucleon amplitude is constructed, including both resonant-channel and nonresonant backgrounds in addition to Δ-excitation. Medium corrections to the full amplitude are included for nuclear seattering. A doorway state expansion allows one to discuss quantitatively the role of various contributions to the Δ-hole Hamiltonian, thereby clarifying the level of sensitivity to the structure of the Δ spreading potential. The reactive content of the total cross section is diseussed. The results are compared with available photoabsorption data for 4He, 12C and 16O. We present results for the Δ contribution to the electron seattering transverse response function, for coherent π0 photoproduction, and for nuclear elastic Compton seattering. The photoabsorption strength is spread over a larger energy range by the Δ dynamics, in agreement with the data, but is centered at too high an energy. The helicity flip Compton cross section is especially sensitive to the Δ-nucleus interaction, such as the spin-orbit potential strength. 相似文献

The dark matter puzzle is one of the most important fundamental physics questions in the 21st century.There is no doubt that solving the puzzle will be a new milestone for human beings in achieving a deeper understanding of nature.Herein,we propose the use of the Shanghai laser electron gamma source(SLEGS) to search for dark matter candidate particles,including dark pseudo scalar particles,dark scalar particles,and dark photons.Our simulations indicate that,with some upgrading,electron facilities such as SLEGS could be competitive platforms in the search for light dark matter particles with a mass below tens of keV. 相似文献

methodology for bremsstrahlung (BS) background correction to extract a true Compton profile in high-energy Compton scattering
experiments is presented. The BS background profiles for Hg, computed within the Born approximation, are estimated for different
values of incident energy. It is seen for the first time that the BS background contribution in high-energy Compton profile
experiments like those employing third generation synchrotron radiation sources comes out to be significant and non-linear.
Further, it is found that the incorporation of BS correction in data reduction of such an experiment performed on Hg at 662

The isotropic Compton profile of iridium, measured using 59.54 keVγ-rays, is reported in this paper. The results are compared with the theoretical Compton profiles from APW method with and
without incorporating electron correlation effects. It is seen that correlation effects improve the agreement between the

A new gamma tracking method, called probabilistic method and based on the Compton scattering probability of photons in a highly segmented Ge spectrometer, has been evaluated with the GEANT simulation code. This method has been used to calculate the performances of a 4
array composed of planar detectors as their crystal shape allows to realize identical segments of quasi-cubic shape. The tracking algorithm selects the full-absorption events by taking into account only the centre of gravity of the segments hit and the partial energies released in each of them. The results obtained, in terms of photopeak detection efficiency and peak-to-total ratio, are comparable to the ones deduced from the usual tracking methods. The probabilistic algorithm seems also to apply efficiently for other types of detectors as simulation calculations performed on a single stack of planar detector and a single segmented CLOVER detector give nearly the same reconstruction efficiency.Received: 26 November 2002, Revised: 29 April 2003, Published online: 23 March 2004PACS:
