A series of supramolecular block copolymers were prepared using poly(styrene)-b-poly(4-vinylpyridine)(PS-b-P4VP) which coordinated with cobalt dodecyl benzene sulfonate (Co(DBS)2) in tetrahydrofuran (THF). Fourier transformation infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), UV-vis absorption spectroscopy (UV) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) showed that Co(DBS)2 coordinated to the lone electron pairs of the pyridine nitrogens in the P4VP block and leaded to complexes. The supramolecular block copolymers could self-assemble into nanosized micelles with different shapes and dimensions in THF, depending on the number of Co(DBS)2 groups per 4-vinylpyridine (repeat unit was denoted by n) and the ratio between PS block length and P4VP block length. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) results showed that when the number of repeat units of P4VP was more than that of PS, micelles with different interesting shapes such as spheres, rods, vesicles, large compound vesicles (LCVs) and the large compound micelles (LCMs) were observed if increasing the content of the Co(DBS)2 in PS-b-P4VP copolymer/THF solution; When the number of repeat units of P4VP was less than that of PS, the micelle morphologies changed from spheres to rods, bi-layer, and LCMs if the Co(DBS)2 content was increased progressively.  相似文献

Novel kind of core-shell corona complex micelles were prepared, which enhanced both the hydrolytic stability and the photostability of water-soluble zinc tetrakis(4-sulfonatophenyl) porphyrin (ZnTPPS) in acidic aqueous solutions. The core-shell gold nanoparticles (AuNPS) were synthesized by reducing HAuCl4 and di-thioester terminated block copolymer, poly(Nisopropylacrylamide)-block-poly(4-vinylpyridine) (PNIPAM-b-P4VP). The complex micelles with gold core, P4VP/ZnTPPS shell and PNIPAM corona were formed by simple mixing of gold nanoparticles and ZnTPPS. The photochemical properties of the complex micelles were studied by UV–Visiblespectroscopy and fluorescence spectroscopy. The results showed trapping of ZnTPPS in the positively charged micellar shell that effectively prevented demetallation of the ZnTPPS that would occur in acidic aqueous solutions. Furthermore, with appropriate concentration of gold nanoparticles, ZnTPPS in the complex micelle had excellent photostability by suppression of generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS). The enhanced stability of ZnTPPS in acidic aqueous media could be extensively used for photocatalysis and in solar cells.  相似文献

We have successfully prepared monodispersed positively thermoresponsive core-shell hydrogel microspheres with poly(acrylamide-co-styrene) [P(AAM-co-St)] cores and IPN(interpenetrating polymer network)-based shells composed of poly(acrylamide)/poly(acrylic acid). The submicron-sized monodispersed P(AAM-co-St) core seeds were prepared by using a surfactant-free emulsion polymerization method, and the IPN-based shell layers were fabricated onto the core seeds by using a method of sequential IPN synthesis. Effects of reaction time and reaction temperature during preparation of IPN on the particle size, monodispersity, and thermoresponsive characteristics of microspheres were investigated. The results show that the sizes of particles with IPN shell layer are smaller than that of seeds, and the change of monodispersity among them is not obvious and the monodispersity of particles prepared under higher reaction temperature is higher than that of seeds and those particles prepared under lower reaction temperature. With increasing reaction time, thermoresponsive characteristics of microspheres increases. While thermoresponsive characteristics of microspheres decreases sharply with increasing reaction temperature. The results display preparation of IPN-structured microspheres is so careful to need longer reaction time and lower reaction temperature.  相似文献

We report a new approach toward preparing self-assembled hydrogen-bonded complexes having vesicle and patched spherical structures from two species of block copolymers in nonselective solvents. Two diblock copolymers, poly(styrene-b-vinyl phenol) (PS-b-PVPh) and poly(methyl methacrylate-b-4-vinylpyridine) (PMMA-b-P4VP), were synthesized through anionic polymerization. The assembly of vesicles from the intermolecular complex formed after mixing PS-b-PVPH with PMMA-b-P4VP in THF was driven by strong hydrogen bonding between the complementary binding sites on the PVPH and P4VP blocks. In contrast, well-defined patched spherical micelles formed after blending PS-b-PVPh with PMMA-b-P4VP in DMF: the weaker hydrogen bonds formed between the PVPh and P4VP blocks in DMF, relative to those in THF, resulted in the formation of spherical micelles having compartmentalized coronas consisting of PS and PMMA blocks.  相似文献

In this work,a new type of block polymers,polystyrene-b-poly[(N-isopropyl acrylamide)-co-(vinyl benzyl chloride)](PS-b-P(NIPAM-co-VBC)),was prepared via reversible addition fragmentation transfer polymerization, then pentacyano(4-(dimethylamino pyridine))ferrate(Fe-DMAP) was attached to VBC units through a quaternization process. The Fe(Ⅱ)-coordinated PS-b-P[NIPAM-co-(VBC-Fe-DMAP)]block copolymers were characterized by ~1H-NMR,FT-IR and TGA.The self-assembly behavior of the block copolymers was also investigated and the micelle morphology was characterized by TEM.It was found that the PS-b-P(NIPAM-co-VBC) block polymer and Fe-coordinated block copolymer could both form spherical micelles in DMF/MeOH mixed solvent.  相似文献

Summary: The present study provides some basic concepts of functionalization of diblock copolymer (BC) nanotemplates for optical applications. It is focused on the polystyrene-block-poly(4-vinylpyridine) (PS-b-P4VP) building medium which is suitable for hydrogen bonding, undergoes phase segregation, and is well-accessible. Two techniques are described and demonstrated on several dye complexes with PS-b-P4VP. Relation between optical properties and thin film structure is tentatively studied in dependence on solvent effects in thin films.  相似文献

Complexation between hydrolysed poly(styrene-co-maleic anhydride) (HSMA) copolymers containing 28% and 50% maleic anhydride and a poly(styrene-co-4-vinylpyridine), St4VP32 copolymer with 32% of 4-vinylpyridine content has been investigated. Formation of interpolymer complexes from 1,4-dioxane solutions is observed, over the entire composition range and the stoichiometry of these complexes has been determined from elemental analysis.Quantitative FTIR study of the system HSMA50/StV4Py32 shows that the ideal complex composition leads to 2:1 unit mole ratio of interacting component. FTIR results are in good agreement with DSC and TGA ones, since this complex composition gives the maximum value of the glass transition temperature and the best thermic stability. For the systems investigated, the Tg versus composition curve do not follow any of the commonly accepted models proposed for polymer blends. A new model proposed by Cowie [Cowie JMG, Garay MT, Lath D, McEwen IJ. Br Poly J 1989;21:81] is used to fit the Tg data and found to reproduce the experimental results more closely.  相似文献

Poly(N-isopropylacrylamide)-grafted polystyrene/poly(styrene-co-4-vinylbenzyl N, N-diethyldithiocarbamate) [PNIPAM-grafted PS/P(St-co-VBDC)] hairy particles were synthesized by photo-polymerizing N-isopropylacrylamide monomer in the presence of PS/P(St-co-VBDC) core particles. Here, the VBDC unit, which was incorporated into the surface of core particles by seeded soap-free emulsion copolymerization, acted as a photo-iniferter. By varying the polymerization conditions, a series of hairy particles having different grafting heights and grafting densities was successfully obtained. The hairy particles exhibited well-defined core/shell morphology. PS/P(St-co-VBDC) formed the core which was surrounded by PNIPAM shell. The determination of critical coagulation concentration (CCC) indicated that the hairy particles were stabilized via both electrostatic and steric mechanisms (i.e., electrosteric mechanism) at a temperature lower than LCST of PNIPAM. However, these particles gave much lower CCCs when heated to the temperature higher than LCST, exhibiting temperature-dependent colloidal stability.  相似文献

A high-speed thermoresponsive medium was developed by grafting poly(N-isopropylacrylamide-co-butyl methacrylate) (P(NIPAM-co-BMA)) brushes onto gigaporous polystyrene (PS) microspheres via surface-initiated atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) technique, which has strong mechanical strength, good chemical stability and high mass transfer rate for biomacromolecules. The gigaporous structure, surface chemical composition, static protein adsorption, and thermoresponsive chromatographic properties of prepared medium (PS–P(NIPAM-co-BMA)) were characterized in detail. Results showed that the PS microspheres were successfully grafted with P(NIPAM-co-BMA) brushes and that the gigaporous structure was robustly maintained. After grafting, the nonspecific adsorption of proteins on PS microspheres was greatly reduced. A column packed with PS–P(NIPAM-co-BMA) exhibited low backpressure and significant thermo-responsibility. By simply changing the column temperature, it was able to separate three model proteins at the mobile phase velocity up to 2167 cm h−1. In conclusion, the thermoresponsive polymer brushes grafted gigaporous PS microspheres prepared by ATRP are very promising in ‘green’ high-speed preparative protein chromatography.  相似文献

A control strategy for tuning the film morphology of asymmetric polystyrene-b-poly(4-vinylpyridine) (PS-b-P4VP) block copolymers (BCPs) is reported. After preparation of the film by spin-coating method, the as-cast films were annealed in different solvent vapor. It is found that chloroform is a wonderful solvent for forming PS-b-P4VP regular pattern. Otherwise, with changing the concentration of PS-b-P4VP, cylindrical or parallel nanostructures could be attained. The PS-b-P4VP films with cylindrical structure are used as template to deposit FePt nanoparticles into the pores. Nanoparticles reaching the bottom of the holes form a disordered magnetic array.  相似文献

The triblock copolymers, poly(styrene-b-isoprene-b-ε-caprolactone)s (PS-b-PI-b-PCL) have been synthesized successfully by combination of anionic polymerization and ring-opening polymerization. Diblock copolymer capped with hydroxyl group, PS-b-PI-OH was synthesized by sequential anionic polymerization of styrene and isoprene and following end-capping reaction of EO, and then it was used as macro initiator in the ring-opening polymerization of CL. The results of DSC and WAXD show big effect of amorphous PS-b-PI on the thermal behaviors of PCL block in the triblock copolymers and the lower degree of crystalline in the triblock copolymer with higher molecular weight of PS-b-PI was observed. The real-time observation on the polarized optical microscopy shows the spherulite growth rates of PCL27, PCL328 and PS-b-PI-b-PCL344 are 0.71, 0.46 and 0.07 μm s−1, respectively. The atomic force microscopy (AFM) images of the PS90-b-PI66-b-PCL28 show the columns morphology formed by it’s self-assembling.  相似文献

Poly(styrene-co-methacrylic acid) (PS-co-MAA) particles were synthesized via surfactant-free emulsion polymerization and then used as particulate emulsifiers for preparation of Pickering emulsions. Our results showed that adjusting the solution pH can tune the wettability of PS-co-MAA particles to stabilize either water-in-oil (W/O) or oil-in-water (O/W) Pickering emulsions. Stable W/O emulsions were obtained with PS-co-MAA particles at low pH values due to their better affinity to the dispersed oil phase. In contrast, increasing the pH value significantly changed the stabilizing behavior of the PS-co-MAA particles, leading to the phase inversion and formation of stable O/W emulsions. We found that the oil/water ratio had a significant influence on pH value of the phase inversion. It decreased with decreasing the oil/water ratio, and no phase inversion occurred when the styrene volume fraction reduced to 10 %. Additionally, macroporous polystyrene (PS) foam and PS microspheres were obtained via polymerization of Pickering high internal phase emulsion (Pickering HIPE) and O/W Pickering emulsion, respectively.  相似文献

Summary: Submicron core-shell particles of polystyrene (PS) and polystyrene-co-poly(methyl methacrylate) (PS-co-PMMA) coated with PMMA were obtained by emulsion photopolymerization. The seeds of PS or PS-co-PMMA were prepared by emulsion polymerization with or without emulsifier and a ratio of functional monomer and crosslinker (SVBS/EDGMA) in order to obtain different surfaces for the subsequent coating with PMMA. At each stage, the evolution of the average particle size were monitored by using photon correlation spectroscopy (DLS) and the final polymer particles was analyzed via transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The core-shell morphology was identified as the increase of the average particle size in the second stage by DLS technique and by the direct observation by TEM of the differentiation between PS core and PMMA shell, and by the presence of two glass transition temperatures (Tg) as a consequence of the existence of two partially miscible phases.  相似文献

Thin films of asymmetric poly(styrene-b-4-vinylpyridine) (PS-b-P4VP) block copolymers are studied by means of in situ grazing-incidence small-angle X-ray scattering (GISAXS) during solvent vapor annealing in tetrahydrofuran, a solvent selective for the PS majority block of the copolymer. Upon swelling, PS-b-P4VP block copolymers form hexagonal arrays of spherical P4VP microdomains in a PS matrix in films 7–9 layers thick. Deswelling the films induces a transition from hexagonal to face-centered orthorhombic (fco) symmetry, which is stable only at ∼7 layers of spherical microdomains. Dry films show co-existing hexagonal and orthorhombic symmetries when the solvent is removed slowly, whereas instantaneous solvent removal suppresses the fco structure, resulting in films with only hexagonal structure. The in-plane order of microdomains is significantly deteriorated in dry films independent of the solvent removal rate.Spherical block copolymer microdomains are known to undergo a transition from hexagonal to orthorhombic packing in isothermally annealed thin films when the number of sphere layers is increased from 4 to 5. In this paper, in situ GISAXS experiments reveal that a similar transition occurs during solvent vapor annealing in a selective solvent. Interestingly, the transition from hexagonal to orthorhombic packing of spheres occurs as solvent is removed from a thin block copolymer film. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. Well-defined polystyrene-block-poly(styrene-co-acrylonitrile) PS-block-P(S-co-AN) and poly(styrene-co-acrylonitrile-co-5-vinyltetrazole) PS-block-P(S-co-AN-co-5VT) block copolymers with various content of acrylonitrile units in the statistical block were synthesized by nitroxide mediated radical polymerization (NMRP) and post-functionalized using efficient “click” chemistry process. In the second step, acrylonitrile units were successfully modified using 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition (“click” chemistry) type polymer analogue reaction. The original pristine diblock copolymers can be molecularly dissolved in THF and dioxane while the “tetrazolated” versions aggregate to clusters as determined by dynamic light scattering (DLS). Small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) and Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) revealed ordered lamellar morphology with interlamellar spacing d = 60 nm increasing to d = 80 nm for “tetrazolated” diblock copolymers. The morphological features of diblock copolymer thin layers observed by Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) depend on the tunable content of both acrylonitrile and 5-vinyltetrazole units and on the quality (polarity) of the solvents used.  相似文献

Well-defined poly(vinyl acetate)-block-poly(4-vinylpyridine) (PVAc-b-P4VP) block copolymers were synthesized for the first time by a combination of cobalt-mediated radical polymerization (CMRP) and reversible addition–fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) polymerization, and were used to prepare PVAc-b-P4VP hairy polystyrene (PSt) particles. PVAc end-capped by a cobalt(II) acetylacetonate complex was first synthesized by the CMRP of vinyl acetate, after which the cobalt complex was modified into a dithiobenzoate group for the RAFT polymerization of 4-vinylpyridine. The hairy PSt particles were synthesized by the dispersion polymerization of St using the PVAc-b-P4VP as both a macro-initiator and a colloidal stabilizer under UV radiation. The average size of PSt particles synthesized with 20 wt.% of PVAc-b-P4VP (M n = 39,500 g/mol) was 136 nm (CV = 19.2%). Very small Au nanoparticles were successfully immobilized on the surface of the PSt particles.  相似文献

A reliable and efficient route for preparing thermoresponsive hollow microgels based on cross-linked poly(N-isopropyl acrylamide) (PNIPAM) was developed. Firstly, monodisperse thermoresponsive core–shell microspheres composed of a P(styrene (St)-co-NIPAM) core and a cross-linked PNIPAM shell were prepared by seeded emulsion polymerization using P(St-co-NIPAM) particles as seeds. The size of the P(St-co-NIPAM) core can be conveniently tuned by different dosages of sodium dodecyl sulfate. The thickness of the cross-linked PNIPAM shell can be controlled by varying the dosage of NIPAM in the preparation of PNIAPM shell. Then, hollow PNIPAM microgels were obtained by simply dissolving the P(St-co-NIPAM) core with tetrahydrofuran. The core–shell microspheres and the hollow microgels were characterized by transmission electron microscopy, dynamic light scattering, atomic force microscopy, and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy.  相似文献

Based on the synthesis of poly(N-isopropylacrylamide-co-styrene) P(NIPAM-co-St) and poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAM) grafted P(NIPAM-co-St) core-shell nanoparticle, a new kind of thermoresponsive and fluorescent complex of Tb(III) and PNIPAM-g-P(NIPAM-co-St) (PNNS) was successfully prepared. The PNNS-Tb(III) complex was characterized with the different techniques. It was found that when PNNS with the core-shell structure interact with Tb(III), Tb(III) mainly bonded to O of the carbonyl groups of PNNS, forming the novel PNNS-Tb(III) complex. After forming the complex, the emission fluorescence intensity of Tb(III) in the complex is significantly enhanced. Especially, the maximum emission intensity of the PNNS-Tb(III) complex at 545 nm is enhanced about 223 times comparing to that of the pure Tb(III) because the effective intramolecular energy transfer from PNNS to Tb(III). The intramolecular energy transfer efficiency from PNNS to Tb(III) reaches 50%. The fluorescence intensity is related the weight ratio of Tb(III) and PNNS in the PNNS-Tb(III) complex. When the weight ratio of Tb(III) and the PNNS is 12 wt%, the enhancement of the emission fluorescence intensity at 545 nm is highest. This novel fluorescence characterization of the PNNS-Tb(III) complex may be useful in the fluorescence systems and the biomedical field.  相似文献

We developed thin films of blends of polystyrene (PS) with the thermoresponsive polymer poly(N‐isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAM) (PS/PNIPAM) and its diblock copolymer polystyrene‐b‐poly(N‐isopropylacrylamide) (PS/PS‐b‐PNIPAM) in different blend ratios, and we study their surface morphology and thermoresponsive wetting behavior. The blends of PS/PNIPAM and PS/PS‐b‐PNIPAM are spin‐casted on flat silicon surfaces with various drying conditions. The surface morphology of the films depends on the blend ratio and the drying conditions. The PS/PS‐b‐PNIPAM films do not show an increase in their water contact angles with temperature, as it is expected by the presence of the PNIPAM block. All PS/PNIPAM films show an increase in the water contact angle above the lower critical solution temperature of PNIPAM, which depends on the ratio of PNIPAM in the blend and is insensitive to the drying conditions of the films. The difference between the wetting behavior of PS/PS‐b‐PNIPAM and PS/PNIPAM films is due to the arrangement of the PNIPAM chains in the film. © 2019 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. Gold nanoparticles (Au NPs) were prepared by the reduction of HAuCl4 acid incorporated into the polar core of poly(styrene)-block-poly(2-vinylpyridine) (PS-b-P2VP) copolymer micelles dissolved in toluene. The formation of Au NPs was controlled using three reducing agents with different strengths: hydrazine (HA), triethylsilane (TES), and potassium triethylborohydride (PTB). The formation of Au NPs was followed by transmission electron microscopy, UV–Vis spectroscopy, isothermal titration calorimetry (ITC), and dynamic light scattering (DLS). It was found that the strength of the reducing agent determined both the size and the rate of formation of the Au NPs. The average diameters of the Au NPs prepared by reduction with HA, TES, and PTB were 1.7, 2.6, and 8 nm, respectively. The reduction of Au(III) was rapid with HA and PTB. TES proved to be a mild reducing agent for the synthesis of Au NPs. DLS measurements demonstrated swelling of the PS-b-P2VP micelles due to the incorporation of HAuCl4 and the reducing agents. The original micellar structure rearranged during the reduction with PTB. ITC measurements revealed that some chemical reactions besides Au NPs formation also occurred in the course of the reduction process. The enthalpy of formation of Au NPs in PS-b-P2VP micelles reduced by HA was determined.  相似文献
