Proton conductive inorganic–organic hybrid membranes were synthesized from 3-glycidyloxypropyltrimethoxysiane (GPTMS), phenyltriethoxysilane (PhTES) and hydroxyalkylphosphonic acid. Two kinds of hydroxyalkylphosphonic acids, 1-hydroxyethane-1,1-diphosphonic acid (HEDPA) and hydroxyethanephosphonic acid (HEPA), were incorporated into the membranes as functional molecules for proton conduction. FT-IR and Raman studies revealed the presence of phosphonic acid groups in the hybrid membranes. 13C and 29Si NMR confirmed that a three-dimensional siloxane network was formed in the prepared hybrid membrane by hydrolysis and condensation reactions. DTA-TG analysis showed that these membranes were thermally stable up to 200 °C. The HEDPA-based system was found to have higher proton conductivities than the HEPA-based one. The proton conductivities of the hybrid membranes increased with the phosphonic acid content and temperature up to 130 °C. The conductivities of the HEDPA/GPTMS/PhTES membranes = 1/1.6/0.4 were 1.0 × 10−1 and 4.5 × 10−4 S cm−1 at 100% relative humidity and non-humidified conditions, respectively, at 130 °C.  相似文献

The Brønsted acid-base polymer electrolyte membrane was prepared by entrapping imidazole in sulfonated poly(phenylene oxide) at the molar ratio of Im/SPPO = 2:1. The hybrid showed a high thermal stability up to 200 °C and peroxide tolerance. Differential scanning calorimetry shows that glass transition temperature is 232 °C. The conductivity increases with temperature exceeding 10−3 S/cm above 120 °C and a high conductivity of 6.9 × 10−3 S/cm was obtained at 200 °C under 33% RH conditions.  相似文献

Low temperature routes have been developed for the preparation of BaCe0.9Y0.1O2.95 (BCY10) and BaZr0.9Y0.1O2.95 (BZY10) in the form of nanoparticulate powders for use after densification as ceramic membranes for a proton ceramic fuel cell. These methods make use on the one hand of the chelation of metal (II), (III) and (IV) ions by acrylates (hydrogelation route) and on the other of the destabilisation and precipitation of micro-emulsions. Both routes lead to single phase yttrium doped barium cerate or zirconate perovskites, as observed by X-ray diffraction, after thermal treatment at 900 °C for 4 h for BCY10 and 800 °C for BZY10. These temperatures, lower than those usually used for preparation of barium cerate or zirconate, lead to oxide nanoparticles of size <40 nm. Dense ceramics (?95%) are obtained by sintering BCY10 pellets at 1350 °C and BZY10 pellets at 1500 °C for 10 h. The water uptake of compacted samples at 500 °C is 0.14 wt% for BCY10 and 0.26 wt% for BZY10. Total conductivities in the range 300-600 °C were determined using impedance spectroscopy in a humidified nitrogen atmosphere. The total conductivity was 1.8×10−2 S/cm for BCY10 and 2×10−3 S/cm for BZY10 at 600 °C. The smallest perovskite nanoparticles and highest conductivities were obtained by hydrogelation of precursor barium, zirconium, cerium and yttrium acrylates.  相似文献

New hybrid membranes for fuel cell applications based on sulfonated poly(ether ether ketone) (SPEEK) and phosphonated polysilsesquioxanes were synthesized. The impedance spectroscopy measurements show an increase of the proton conductivity for all studied composites, in comparison to plain SPEEK. For hybrid membranes containing 20 wt% of polysilsesquioxane with 80 mol% of phosphonated units the conductivities can reach values that are similar to Nafion 117® at 100% RH. The best results of proton conductivity (142 mS/cm) were obtained for composites with 40 wt% of the same polysilsesquioxane at 120 °C also at 100% RH.  相似文献

We have obtained unique highly carbonized polyaniline micro- and nanotubes as a new, thermally stable nanomaterial for nanosensors and nanodevices with a wide range of possible applications, comparable to carbon nanotubes. Polyaniline nanostructures are easy to prepare and handle in wet conditions, including controlled growth. Temperature-induced transformations of polyaniline micro- and nanotubes into highly carbonized analogues have been observed at and above 800 °C, while the temperature was elevated slowly from 20 °C up to 1100 °C. Carbonized products have the same morphology (micro- and nanotubes), but a lower spin density than the starting material (e.g. 1014 g−1 for the sample heated at and above 800 °C, and 1019 g−1 before heating). Simultaneously, the electrical conductivity changes from 7.4 × 10−5 S/cm for the starting material to 4.8 × 10−9 S/cm, 1.3 × 10−11 S/cm and finally 2.4 × 10−6 S/cm for samples obtained at room temperature, 250 °C, 500 °C and 800 °C, respectively. Chemical transformations and unique molecular structures formed are discussed. Applications in nanotechnology, including sensors and electronic nanodevices, are expected in the light of experiments already performed.  相似文献

A novel poly(ether-imide)-based alkaline anion exchange membrane with no free base has been prepared and characterized for its ionic conductivity in water, which is a critical metric of its applicability in a liquid-fed direct methanol fuel cell. The poly(ether-imide)-based membranes were prepared by chloromethylation, quaternization and alkalization of commercial poly(ether-imide) and the derivatives were characterized by NMR. The chemical and thermal stabilities were investigated by measuring changes of ionic conductivities when the membranes were placed in various alkaline concentrations and temperatures for 24 h. The membranes were stable at all concentrations of KOH at room temperature, but not at elevated temperatures. The membranes were stable in 1.0 M KOH solution up to 80 °C without losing membrane integrity. The measured conductivity of the formed membrane ranged from 2.28 to 3.51 × 10−3 S/cm at room temperature. This preliminary study indicates that functionalized poly(ether-imide) has suitable conductivity suggesting that it can be used as an alkaline anion exchange membrane in fuel cell applications.  相似文献

A new series of supported anion-exchange organic–inorganic hybrid membranes were prepared by quaternizing the copolymer of vinylbenzyl chloride (VBC) and γ-methacryloxypropyl trimethoxy silane (γ-MPS) and then applying a sol–gel reaction to the copolymer and monophenyltriethoxysilane (EPh). The membranes were characterized for potential use in fuel cells. The results show that the physicochemical properties, including ion-exchange property, hydrophilicity, and thermal/chemical stability, can be easily controlled by adjusting the quaternization extent of the copolymer and the dosage of EPh. The hybrid membranes have relatively strong alkali resistance, high temperature tolerance (thermal degradation temperature in air, Td, in the range of 250–300 °C), high tensile strength (TS) and elongation at break (Eb). The hydroxyl ion conductivity is in the range of 2.27–4.33 × 10−4 S/cm.  相似文献

5-Vinyltetrazole (VT)-based polymer is mainly produced by ‘click chemistry’ from polyacrylonitrile due to the unavailability of 5-vinyltetrazole monomer, which usually produces copolymers of VT and acrylonitrile rather than pure poly(5-vinyltetrazole) (PVT). In present work, VT was synthesized from 5-(2-chloroethyl)tetrazole via dehydrochlorination. A series of PVT with different molecular weight were synthesized by normal free radical polymerization. The chemical structures of VT and PVT were characterized by 1H NMR and FTIR. PVT without any doped acid exhibits certain proton conductivity at higher temperature and anhydrous state. The proton conductivity of PVT decreases at least 2 orders of magnitude after methylation of tetrazole. PVT and PVT/H3PO4 composite membranes are thermally stable up to 200 °C. The glass transition temperature (Tg) of PVT/xH3PO4 composite membranes is shifted from 90 °C for x = 0.5 to 55 °C for x = 1. The temperature dependence of DC conductivity for pure PVT exhibits a simple Arrhenius behavior in the temperature range of 90–160 °C, while PVT/xH3PO4 composite membranes with higher H3PO4 concentration can be fitted by Vogel–Tamman–Fulcher (VTF) equation. PVT/1.0H3PO4 exhibits an anhydrous proton conductivity of 3.05 × 10−3 at 110 °C. The transmission of the PVT/xH3PO4 composite membrane is above 85% in the wavelength of visible light and changes little with acid contents. Thus, PVT/xH3PO4 composite membranes have potential applications not only in intermediate temperature fuel cells but also in solid electrochromic device.  相似文献

For the first time a fluorinated polyoxadiazole doped with phosphoric acid as a proton-conducting membrane for operation at temperatures above 100 °C and low humidities for fuel cells has been reported. Fluorinated polyoxadiazole with remarkable chemical stability was synthesized. No changes in the molecular weight (about 200,000 g mol−1) can be observed when the polymer is exposed for 19 days to mixtures of sulfuric acid and oleum. Protonated membranes with low doping level (0.34 mol of phosphoric acid per polyoxadiazole unit, 11.6 wt.% H3PO4) had proton conductivity at 120 °C and RH = 100% in the order of magnitude of 10−2 S cm−1. When experiments are conducted at lower external humidity, proton conductivity values drop an order of magnitude. However still a high value of proton conductivity (6 × 10−3 S cm−1) was obtained at 150 °C and with relative humidity of 1%. In an effort to increase polymer doping, nanocomposite with sulfonated silica containing oligomeric fluorinated-based oxadiazole segments has also been prepared. With the addition of functionalized silica not only doping level but also water uptake increased. For the nanocomposite membranes prepared with the functionalized silica higher proton conductivity in all range of temperature up to 120 °C and RH = 100% (in the order of magnitude of 10−3 S cm−1) was observed when compared to the plain membrane (in the order of magnitude of 10−5 S cm−1).  相似文献

Nafion/sulfonated poly(phenylmethyl silsesquioxane) (sPPSQ) composite membranes are fabricated using homogeneous dispersive mixing and a solvent casting method for direct dimethyl ether fuel cell (DDMEFC) applications operated above 100 °C. The inorganic conducting filler, sPPSQ significantly affects the characteristics in the nanocomposite membranes by functionalization with an organic sulfonic acid to PPSQ. Moreover, sPPSQ content plays an important role in membrane properties such as microstructure, proton conductivity, fuel crossover, and single cell performance test. With increasing sPPSQ content in the nanocomposite membrane, the proton conductivity increased and fuel crossover decreased. However, in a higher temperature range above 110 °C, Nafion/sPPSQ 5 wt.% composite membrane has the highest proton conductivity. Also, the DME permeability for the composite membrane with higher sPPSQ content increased sharply. The excessive sPPSQ content caused a large aggregation of inorganic fillers, leading to the deterioration of membrane properties. In this study, the optimal sPPSQ content for maximizing the DDMEFC performance was 5 wt.%. Our nanocomposite membranes demonstrated proton conductivities as high as 1.57 × 10−1 S/cm at 120 °C, which is higher than that of Nafion. The cell performances were compared to Nafion/sPPSQ composite membrane with Nafion 115, and the composite membrane with sPPSQ yielded better cell performance than Nafion 115 at temperatures ranging from 100 to 120 °C and at pressures from 1 to 2 bar.  相似文献

NaA zeolite membranes were synthesized on an asymmetric porous alumina support with a lower mass-flow resistance for development of more economically feasible membranes with higher permeation performance. The support influence on permeation fluxes through the membrane using asymmetric support was investigated by vapor permeation at 100–145 °C in a mixture of water (10 wt.%)/ethanol (90 wt.%) in which the higher permeation fluxes up to 37 kg m−2 h−1 or water permeances up to 3.2 × 10−6 mol m−2 s−1 Pa−1at 145 °C were observed. The performance was higher than those in the previously reported NaA membrane on a monolayer porous alumina support of 31 kg m−2 h−1 or water permeances of 2.5 × 10−6 mol m−2 s−1 Pa−1at 145 °C. These results are experimental evidence to show the effect of asymmetric support utilization in membrane preparation on the higher membrane performance. The estimate of the pressure drop over the both types of support indicates that the improvement of higher permeation fluxes in the asymmetric type membrane could be attributed to the suppression of pressure drop in the support layer due to lower mass-flow resistance there.  相似文献

Solid electrolyte materials have the potential to improve performance and safety characteristics of batteries by replacing conventional solvent-based electrolytes. For this purpose, new candidate single ion conductor self-standing networks were synthesized with trifluoromethane-sulfonylimide (TFSI) lithium salt based monomer using poly(ethyleneglycol) dimethacrylate (PEGDM 750) as crosslinker. The highest ionic conductivity was 3.4 × 10−7 S cm−1 at 30 °C in the dry state. Thermal and mechanical analyses showed good thermal stability up to 190 °C and rubbery-like properties at ambient temperature. A direct relationship between ionic conductivity and glassy or rubbery state of the membranes was found. Vogel–Tammann–Fulcher behavior was observed in the dry state which is consistent with a lithium conductivity correlated with polymer chain mobility. By swelling the network in propylene carbonate, a self-standing electrolyte gel could be obtained with an ionic conductivity as high as 1 × 10−4 S cm−1 at 30 °C. The individual diffusion coefficients of mobile species in the material (19F and 7Li) were measured and quantified using pulsed-field gradient nuclear magnetic resonance (PFG-NMR). Diffusion coefficients for the most mobile components of the lithium cations and fluorinated anions at 100 °C in dry membranes have been found to be 3.4 × 10−8 cm2 s−1 and 2.1 × 10−8 cm2 s−1 respectively.  相似文献

Proton-conducting membranes based on phosphotungstic acid (PWA) and 3-glycidoxypropyl-trimethoxysilane (GPTMS) was investigated as the electrolyte for low temperature H2/O2 fuel cell. Parameters determining the conductivity and elastic modulus of the membranes were characterized by thermogravimetry/differential thermal analysis and infrared spectroscopic measurements. The composite containing 5% of PWA exhibited an elastic modulus below 100 MPa at room temperature and a high proton conductivity of 1.0 × 10−2 S/cm at 80 °C and 100% RH. Low elastic modulus of the membrane was found to be useful for both the reduction of the membrane thickness and the better contact with the electrodes. The performance of the membrane electrode assemblies (MEA) was systematically studied as an effect of preparation conditions. A maximum power density of 45 mW/cm2 and the current density of 175 mA/cm2 at 0.2 V were achieved at 90 °C and 100% RH for the membrane of 5PWA·95GPTMS composition and 0.2 mm thickness.  相似文献

In this study we present results of the conductivity and resistance to thermooxidative and condensation reactions of a highly phosphonated poly(pentafluorostyrene) (PWN2010) and of its blends with poly(benzimidazole)s (PBI). This polymer, which combines both: (i) a high degree of phosphonation (above 90%) and (ii) a relatively high acidity (pKa (–PO3H2 ↔ –PO3H) ∼ 0.5) due to the fluorine neighbors, is designed for low humidity operating fuel cell. This was confirmed by the conductivity measurements for PWN2010 reaching σ = 5 × 10−4 S cm−1 at 150 °C in dry N2 and σ = 1 × 10−3 S cm−1 at 150 °C (λ = 0.75). Furthermore, this polymer showed only 48% of anhydride formation when annealing it at T = 250 °C for 5 h and only 2% weight loss during a 96 h Fenton test. These properties combined with the ability of the PWN2010 to form homogeneous blends with polybenzimidazoles resulting in stable and flexible polymer films, makes PWN2010 a very promising candidate as a polymer electrolyte for intermediate- and high-temperature fuel cell applications.  相似文献

A series of sulfonated poly(ether ketone ketone)s (SPPFEKKs) containing both of phthalazinone and hexafluoroisopropylidene moieties were synthesized by direct nucleophilic polycondensation reaction from 4-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-1(2H)-phthalazinone (DHPZ), 4,4-hexafluoroisopropylidene-diphenol (BPAF), 1,4-bi(4-fluorobenzoyl) benzene (DFKK) and 1,4-bi(3-sodium sulfonate-4-fluorobenzoyl) benzene (SDFKK). The obtained SPPFEKKs had high molecular weight with inherent viscosity ranged from 1.29 to 1.53 dL/g and their chemical structure was characterized by FT-IR and 1H NMR. The ionic membranes of SPPFEKKs showed high proton conductivity, for instance, SPPFEKK-120 (DS = 1.20) demonstrated 1.0 × 10−1 S/cm proton conductivity at 95 °C, which was very close to that of Nafion®117. All the SPPFEKK membranes exhibited methanol permeability lower than 2.76 × 10−7 cm2/s, which was much lower than that of Nafion®117 (2.38 × 10−6 cm2/s). These copolymers also showed excellent thermal stability and good solubility in aprotic polar organic solvents. The ionic membranes of SPPFEKK demonstrated tensile strength varied from 57 to 69 MPa depending on their DS.  相似文献

Novel organic–inorganic hybrid membranes were prepared through sol–gel reaction of poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) with γ-aminopropyl-triethoxysilane (APTEOS) for pervaporation (PV) separation of ethanol/water mixtures. The membranes were characterized by FTIR, EDX, WXRD and PALS. The amorphous region of the hybrid membranes increased with increasing APTEOS content, and both the free volume and the hydrophilicity of the hybrid membranes increased when APTEOS content was less than 5 wt%. The swelling degree of the hybrid membranes has been restrained in an aqueous solution owing to the formation of hydrogen and covalent bonds in the membrane matrix. Permeation flux increased remarkably with APTEOS content increasing, and water permselectivity increased at the same time, the trade-off between the permeation flux and water permselectivity of the hybrid membranes was broken. The sorption selectivity increased with increasing temperature, and decreased with increasing water content. In addition, the diffusion selectivity and diffusion coefficient of the permeants through the hybrid membranes were investigated. The hybrid membrane containing 5 wt% APTEOS has highest separation factor of 536.7 at 50 °C and permeation flux of 0.0355 kg m−2 h−1 in PV separation of 5 wt% water in the feed.  相似文献

Cobalt-doped silica membranes were synthesized using tetraethyl orthosilicate-derived sol mixed with cobalt nitrate hexahydrate. The cobalt-doped silica structural characterization showed the formation of crystalline Co3O4 and silanol groups upon calcination. The metal oxide phase was sequentially reduced at high temperature in rich hydrogen atmosphere resulting in the production of high quality membranes. The cobalt concentration was almost constant throughout the film depth, though the silica to cobalt ratio changed from 33:1 at the surface to 7:1 at the interface with the alumina layer. It is possible that cobalt has more affinity to alumina, thus forming CoOAl2O3. The He/N2 selectivities reached 350 and 570 at 160 °C for dry and 100 °C wet gas testing, respectively. Subsequent exposure to water vapour, the membranes was regenerated under dry gas condition and He/N2 selectivities significantly improved to 1100. The permeation of gases generally followed a temperature dependency flux or activated transport, with best helium permeation and activation energy results of 9.5 × 10−8 mol m−2 s−1 Pa−1 and 15 kJ mol−1. Exposure of the membranes to water vapour led to a reduction in the permeation of nitrogen, attributed to water adsorption and structural changes of the silica matrix. However, the overall integrity of the cobalt-doped silica membrane was retained, given an indication that cobalt was able to counteract to some extent the effect of water on the silica matrix. These results show the potential for metal doping to create membranes suited for industrial gas separation.  相似文献

A series of acrylic acid and 4(5)-vinylimidazole copolymers for a non-hydrous proton transferring membrane used in polymer electrolyte membrane for fuel cell (PEMFC) are reported. The feed ratio of each monomer results in the variation of copolymer as evaluated by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (1H-NMR). Differential scanning calorimeter and thermal gravimetric analyzer confirm the thermal properties of copolymer films with Tg at 105-177 °C and Td above 230 °C. The simultaneous analysis of wide angle X-ray diffraction (WAXD) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) suggests the thermal performance about the decrease in domain size as a consequence of the loss of moisture content in the membrane and the increase in domain size as a consequence of chain mobility after Tg. The proton conductivities under anhydrous condition of the copolymer membranes are in the range of 10−2 S/cm even up to 120 °C.  相似文献

A series of parent poly(aryl ether ketone)s bearing different content of unsaturated pendant propenyl groups were synthesized via nucleophilic substitution polymerization from 3,3′-diallyl-4,4′-dihydroxybiphenyl, 9,9′-bis(4-hydroxyphenyl) fluorene and 4,4′-difluorobenzophenone. The polymers with pendant aliphatic sulfonic acid groups were further synthesized by free radical thiol-ene coupling reactions between 3-mercapto-1-propanesulfonic sodium and the parent propenyl functional copolymers. The resulting sulfonated polymers with high inherent viscosity (1.83-4.69 dL/g) were soluble in polar organic solvents and can form flexible and transparent membranes by casting from their solutions. The copolymers with different ion exchange capacity could be conveniently synthesized by varying the monomers ratios. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) was used to examine the microstructures of the membrane and the results revealed that significant hydrophilic/hydrophobic microphase separation with spherical, uniform-sized (5-10 nm) and well-dispersed hydrophilic domains was afforded. The proton conductivities of the as-prepared membranes and the state-of-the-art Nafion 117 membrane in fully hydrated state were investigated. The results revealed that the proton conductivity of the synthesized membranes increased more remarkably than that of Nafion 117 membrane with increasing temperature. The membrane with 1.69 mequiv/g of IEC had a conductivity of 2.5 × 10−2 Scm−1 at 100 °C. The membranes also possessed excellent mechanical properties, good thermal, oxidative, hydrolytic and dimensional stabilities.  相似文献

Microporous poly(vinylidene fluoride)/polyethylene oxide-co-polypropylene oxide-co-polyethylene oxide (PVDF/PEO-PPO-PEO, or PVDF/F127) blend membranes were prepared via thermally induced phase separation (TIPS) process using sulfolane as the diluent. Then they were soaked in a liquid electrolyte to form polymer electrolytes. The effects of F127 weight fraction on the morphology, crystallinity and porosity of the blend membranes were studied. It was found that both electrolyte uptake of blend membranes and ionic conductivity of corresponding polymer electrolytes increased with the increase of F127 weight fraction. The maximum ionic conductivity was found to reach 2.94 ± 0.02 × 10−3 S/cm at 20 °C. Electrochemical stability window was stable up to 4.7 V (vs. Li+/Li). The testing results indicated that the PVDF/F127 blend membranes prepared via TIPS process can be used as the polymer microporous matrices of polymer electrolytes for lithium ion batteries.  相似文献
