We study the asymptotic distribution of the eigenvalues of interior transmission problem in absorbing medium. We apply Cartwright’s theory and the technique from entire function theory to find a Weyl’s type of density theorem in absorbing medium. Given a sufficient quantity of transmission eigenvalues, we obtain limited uniqueness on the refraction index as a uniqueness problem in entire function theory.  相似文献

Given a set of transmission eigenvalues, we apply Cartwright’s theory to show the density function inversely determines the indicator function. This indicator function gives a Weyl’s type of asymptotics on the transmission eigenvalues. The inverse uniqueness problem on the refraction index is reduced to identifying a parameter of an entire function. We use a Carlson’s type of theorem to prove the uniqueness as in entire function theory. Taking advantage of the uniqueness of rod density problem, we prove an uniqueness result with interior transmission eigenvalues.  相似文献

We consider the Signorini problem with Coulomb friction in elasticity. Sufficient conditions of non‐uniqueness are obtained for the continuous model. These conditions are linked to the existence of real eigenvalues of an operator in a Hilbert space. We prove that, under appropriate conditions, real eigenvalues exist for a non‐local Coulomb friction model. The uniqueness problem of inverse Sturm–Liouville problems with the potential known on an interior subinterval is considered. We prove that the potential on the entire interval and boundary conditions are uniquely determined in terms of the known eigenvalues and some information on the eigenfunctions at some interior point (interior spectral data). Paper focuses on the propagation of monochromatic nonlinear symmetric hybrid waves in a planar dielectric waveguide filled with nonlinear medium. The wave propagation problem is reduced to a transmission eigenvalue problem. Eigenvalues of the problem depend on an additional parameter and correspond to propagation constant. Using perturbation method, it is theoretically proved the existence of a finite number of isolated eigenvalues and therefore, guide waves. The found guide regime is novel in the theory of nonlinear waveguides. Numerical results are presented.  相似文献

In this paper, we investigate the eigenvalue problem of forward-backward doubly stochastic dii~erential equations with boundary value conditions. We show that this problem can be represented as an eigenvalue problem of a bounded continuous compact operator. Hence using the famous Hilbert-Schmidt spectrum theory, we can characterize the eigenvalues exactly.  相似文献

The interior transmission eigenvalue problem for scalar acoustics is studied for a new class of refractive index. Existence of an infinite discrete set of transmission eigenvalues in the case that the acoustic properties of a domain D???? n are allowed to have a C 2-transition to the homogeneous background medium is established. It is shown that the transmission problem has a weak formulation on certain weighted Sobolev spaces for this class of refractive index. The weak formulation and the discreteness of the spectrum is justified by using the Hardy inequality to prove compact imbedding theorems. Existence of transmission eigenvalues is demonstrated by investigating a generalized eigenvalue problem associated with the weak formulation.  相似文献

An important step in estimating the index of refraction of electromagnetic scattering problems is to compute the associated transmission eigenvalue problem. We develop in this paper efficient and accurate spectral methods for computing the transmission eigenvalues associated to the electromagnetic scattering problems. We present ample numerical results to show that our methods are very effective for computing transmission eigenvalues (particularly for computing the smallest eigenvalue), and together with the linear sampling method, provide an efficient way to estimate the index of refraction of a non-absorbing inhomogeneous medium.  相似文献

For the linear Tricomi problem, it is shown that real eigenvalues corresponding to generalized eigenfunctions must be positive and that the energy integral methods used to prove solvability results can give lower bounds on the spectrum. Exploiting the linear solvability theory and spectral information, standard nonlinear analysis tools are employed to yield results on existence and uniqueness for semilinear problems. In particular, using the Leray-Schauder principle, existence of generalized solutions with sublinear nonlinearities is established. For sublinear or asymptotically linear nonlinearities that satisfy a Lipschitz condition, the contraction mapping principle is employed to give results on existence with uniqueness. The Lipschitz constant depends on lower bounds for the spectrum of the linear problem. For certain superlinear problems, maximum principles for the linear problem are used via the method of upper and lower solutions to give results on existence.  相似文献

In this paper we develop an extension of the classical Sturm theory [C. Sturm, Sur une classe d'equations à derivée partielle, J. Math. Pures Appl. 1 (1836) 373-444], to study the oscillation properties for the eigenfunctions of some fourth-order two point boundary value problems on the interval [0,1]. We are mainly interested in the case when these problems have negative eigenvalues induced by the sign of the parameters in the boundary conditions. In particular, we give an asymptotic estimate of the number of zeros in (0,1) of the first eigenfunction in terms of the variation of parameters in the boundary conditions.  相似文献

Derivatives of eigenvalues and eigenvectors with respect to parameters in symmetric quadratic eigenvalue problem are studied. The first and second order derivatives of eigenpairs are given. The derivatives are calculated in terms of the eigenvalues and eigenvectors of the quadratic eigenvalue problem, and the use of state space representation is avoided, hence the cost of computation is greatly reduced. The efficiency of the presented method is demonstrated by considering a spring-mass-damper system.  相似文献

0 引言 本文讨论如下标准形式的Jacobi矩阵 其中a_i>0(i=1,2,…,n),b_i>0(i=1,2,…,n-1)。 对于Jacobi矩阵(对称三对角矩阵)的特征反问题,已有的成果[1],基本上集中在由两组频谱或两个特征对(指特征值及相应的特征向量)构造Jacobi矩阵的元素这样两类问题上,习惯上称之为频谱型或特征向量型反问题。本文提出且求解了第三类型——混合型特征反问题。即由一组频谱数据和一个特征向量构造矩阵元素的问题: 问题Ⅰ 给定正数λ~(1),λ~(2),…,λ~(n)和实向量x=(x_1,x_2,…,x_n)~T,其中x_1=1。构造一个标准形式的Jacobi矩阵J,使其第k阶顺序主子阵恰以λ~(k)(k=1,2,…,n)为其特征值。且(λ~(n),x)为其特征对。 问题Ⅱ 给定正数0<λ_1~(n)<λ_1~(n-1)<…<λ_1~(1)和正向量x=(x_1,x_2,…,x_n),其中x_=,x_k>0(k=2,…,n),构造一个标准形式的Jacobi矩阵J,使其第K阶顺序主子阵恰以λ_1~(k)为其最小特征值,而(λ~(n),x)为J的特征对。 问题Ⅲ 给定n个实数0<λ_1)<λ_2<…<λ_n和m个实数λ~(1),λ~(2),…,λ~(m)及m维向量x=(x_1,…,x_m)~T。构造n阶标准形式的Jaeobi矩阵J,使其第K阶顺序主子阵恰以λ~(k)(k=1,2,…,m)为其特征值,而(λ~(m),x)为第m阶顺序主子阵的特征对,且λ_k(k=1,2,…,n)为J的特征值。这里系大于或等  相似文献

A nonlinear eigenvalue problem related to determining the stress and strain fields near the tip of a transverse crack in a power-law material is studied. The eigenvalues are found by a perturbation method based on representations of an eigenvalue, the corresponding eigenfunction, and the material nonlinearity parameter in the form of series expansions in powers of a small parameter equal to the difference between the eigenvalues in the linear and nonlinear problems. The resulting eigenvalues are compared with the accurate numerical solution of the nonlinear eigenvalue problem.  相似文献

Sufficient conditions insuring the existence of the eigenvalues of (i) are investigated. An iterative method for approximating the eigenvalues of (i) is developed and its convergence proved. Through establishing an equivalent boundary integral system, we obtain that the set of exterior transmission eigenvalues is a discrete set.
