Condensation of acetylenic acetals with ketones

Summary A study was made of the reaction of propargylaldehyde acetal with a number of ketones under the influence of BF₃ etherate. Condensation of aldehydes and ketones

The Mannich reaction with methylene- and benzylidenediacetophenones has given: 1,3-dibenzoyl-4-piperidinobutane, 1,3-dibenzoyl-4-morpholinobutane, 1,3-dibenzoyl-4-diethylamino-2-phenylbutane, 1,3-dibenzoyl-2-phenyl-4-piperidinobutane, 1,3-dibenzoyl-4-diethylaminobutane, and 1,3-dibenzoyl-4-dimethylamino-2-phenylbutane. From the latter two compounds, 3-diethylaminomethyl-2,6-diphenylpyridine and 3-dimethylaminomethyl-2,4,6-triphenylpyridine have been obtained.For part XVII, see [7].     

Condensation of monoethanolamine vinyl ether with alicyclic ketones

Conclusions Schiff bases that contain vinyl ether fragments were synthesized by the condensation of monoethanolamine vinyl ether with cyclohexanone, 2-methylcyclohexanone, and cyclopentanone. Condensation of aldehydes and ketones

The alkaline condensation of β-aceto-and β-propionaphthalenes with furfural has given, respectively, 2-(α-furfuryl)-1, 3-di(β-naphthoyl)-propane and 3-(α-furyl)-2,4-di(β-naphthoyl)pentane; both δ-diketones have also been obtained by the Michael condensation. Under more severe conditions, two molecules of furfural condense with three molecules of β-acetonaphthalene to form 2, 4-di(α-furyl)-1, 3, 5-tri(β-naphthoyl)pentane. Under similar conditions, benzaldehyde exhibits only a feeble capacity for triketone condensation with β-acetonaphthalene. The condensation of β-propionaphthalene with furfural has given the new compound furylidenepropionaphthalene. It has been shown that both under the conditions of the improved Chichibabin pyridine synthesis and under the conditions of the Leuckhardt reaction, 3-(α-furyl)-1, 3-di(β-naphthoyl)propane gives 4-(α-furyl)-2, 6-di(β-naphthyl)pyridine.

Condensation of O-phenylhydroxylamine with some unsymmetrical heterocyclic ketones

2-Methyl-1,2,3,4-tetrahydrobenzofuro[2,3-c]pyridine, 3,4-dihydro-1H-thiopyrano[3,4-b]benzofuran, 2,3-dihydro-4H-thiopyrano[3,2-b]benzofuran 1,1-dioxide, and 1,3,4,5-tetrahydrothiepino[4,3-b]benzofuran 2,2-dioxide, respectively, were synthesized by condensation of O-phenylhydroxylamine with N-methyl-3-piperidone, tetrahydro-3-thiopyrone, tetrahydro-3-thiopyrone S,S-dioxide, and 4-thiepanone S,S-dioxide.Translated from Khimiya Geterotsiklicheskikh Soedinenii, No. 3, pp. 315–318, March, 1973.     

Condensation of biacetylene with ketones in aqueous ammonia medium

Condensation of fluorine-substituted benzaldehydes with amines and cyclic ketones

Condensation of fluorine-containing benzaldehydes with naphthalen-2-amine or quinolin-6-amine and cyclic ketones (cyclopentanone, cyclohexanone, and 4-methylcyclohexanone) gave new fluorine-containing derivatives of cyclopenta[c]benzo[f]quinoline, benzo[a]phenanthridine, and cyclopenta[a]- and benzo[a]-[4,7]phenanthroline. Intermediate products, 2-[(fluorophenyl)(2-naphthylamino or quinolin-6-ylamino)methylidene] cyclohexanones, dihydrobenzo[f]quinolines, and dihydro-4,7-phenanthrolines, were isolated.     

Condensation of some ketones with methylene active nitriles in varied stoichiometries

Condensations of some ketones, such as cyclopentanone, cyclohexanone, indan‐1,3‐dione, 2‐acetyl‐1‐naphthol, 1‐acetyl‐2‐naphthol, with some active methylene compounds, such as malononitrile and cyanoacetate, in the presence of amine bases, diethylamine or triethylamine, were studied. The structures of the Knoevenagel condensation products were determined by spectral analyses.     

Condensation of 3-methyl-3-buten-1-ol with some ketones

Condensation of acetals of aromatic β-keto aldehydes with ketones and phenols

Condensation of protic salts of N-alkyl-substituted C-amino-sym-trlazoles withΒ-diketones andΒ-chlorovinyl ketones

Condensation of protic salts of C-amino-sym-triazoles withΒ-diketones andΒ-chlorovinyl ketones leads to the corresponding sym-triazolopyrimidinium compounds. The structure of the condensation products was confirmed by the PMR spectra.     

Condensation of 2-aminothiazoles and 2-aminobenzothiazoles and their salts with β-chlorovinyl ketones

2-Aminothiazoles and 2-aminobenzothiazoles react with -chlorovinyl ketones in the presence of acid in two directions to form isomeric thiazolo[3,2-a]pyrimidinium compounds. In the absence of acid, the aminothiazole is alkylated only at the cyclic nitrogen atom without closing of the pyrimidine ring. Condensation of 5,5-dichloro-2,4-pentadiena l and of 7,7-dichloro-2,4,6-heptatrienal with some ketones

Summary 5,5-Dichloro-2,4-pentadienal and 7,7-dichloro-2,4,6-heptatrienal readily condense with various ketones in presence of acid catalysts with formation of the corresponding polyenic ketones.

Summary A further study was made of a new method of synthesizing secondary and tertiary acetylenic alcohols by the condensation of aldehydes and ketones with acetylene under pressure in presence of potassium hydroxide powder.
