We study uniqueness of a solution for an inverse source problem arising in linear time-fractional diffusion equations with time dependent coefficients. New uniqueness results are formulated in Theorem 3.1. We also show optimality of the conditions under which uniqueness holds by explicitly constructing counterexamples, that is by constructing more than one solution in the case when the conditions for uniqueness are violated.  相似文献

We give an example of an incompressible diffusion equation whose solution is nonunique. It is shown that this equation has an approximation solution as well as another solution that cannot be obtained by approximation. We give sufficient conditions for the uniqueness of a solution as well as for the uniqueness of an approximation solution.  相似文献

We show that the standard uniqueness condition for an important class of optimal curve-fitting problems is equivalent to an observability condition on an associated dynamical model. This fact allows uniqueness to be checked by testing the rank of a matrix.  相似文献

We establish global existence and uniqueness theorems for the two-dimensional non-diffusive Boussinesq system with anisotropic viscosity acting only in the horizontal direction, which arises in ocean dynamics models. Global well-posedness for this system was proven by Danchin and Paicu; however, an additional smoothness assumption on the initial density was needed to prove uniqueness. They stated that it is not clear whether uniqueness holds without this additional assumption. The present work resolves this question and we establish uniqueness without this additional assumption. Furthermore, the proof provided here is more elementary; we use only tools available in the standard theory of Sobolev spaces, and without resorting to para-product calculus. We use a new approach by defining an auxiliary “stream-function” associated with the density, analogous to the stream-function associated with the vorticity in 2D incompressible Euler equations, then we adapt some of the ideas of Yudovich for proving uniqueness for 2D Euler equations.  相似文献

This paper deals with a nonclassical initial boundary value problem for a two dimensional parabolic equation with Bessel operator. We prove the existence and uniqueness of the weak solution of the given nonlinear problem. We start by solving the associated linear problem. After writing this latter in its operator form, we establish an a priori bound from which we deduce the uniqueness of the strong solution. For the solvability of the associated linear problem, we prove that the range of the operator generated by the considered problem is dense. On the basis of the obtained results of the linear problem, we apply an iterative process to establish the existence and uniqueness of the nonlinear problem.  相似文献

We present two uniqueness results for the inverse problem of determining an index of refraction by the corresponding acoustic far-field measurement encoded into the scattering amplitude. The first one is a local uniqueness in determining a variable index of refraction by the fixed incident-direction scattering amplitude. The inverse problem is formally posed with such measurement data. The second one is a global uniqueness in determining a constant refractive index by a single far-field measurement. The arguments are based on the study of certain non-self-adjoint interior transmission eigenvalue problems.  相似文献

We study the unique solvability of a problem with shift for an equation of mixed type in an unbounded domain. We prove the uniqueness theorem under inequality-type constraints for known functions for various orders of the fractional differentiation operators in the boundary condition. The existence of a solution is proved by reduction to a Fredholm equation of the second kind, whose unconditional solvability follows from the uniqueness of the solution of the problem.  相似文献

We study an evolution problem which describes the dynamic contact of an elastic-visco-plastic body with a foundation. We model the contact with normal damped response and a local friction law. A damage of the material caused by elastic deformation is taken into account, its evolution is described by an inclusion of parabolic type. We derive variational formulation for the model which is in the form of a system involving the displacement field, the stress field and the damage field. We prove the existence and uniqueness result of the weak solution. The proof is based on arguments of evolution equations with monotone operators, a classical existence and uniqueness result on parabolic inequalities and fixed point.  相似文献

We prove the existence and uniqueness of solutions for a class of multivalued stochastic partial differential equations with maximal monotone drift on Banach space driven by multiplicative Lévy noise. We also establish the strong convergence result for solutions of the approximating equations where the maximal monotone drift operator is replaced by its Yosida approximation. As an application, the existence and uniqueness of solutions for multivalued stochastic porous medium equations is obtained.  相似文献

We deal with existence and uniqueness of variational solutions to a class of dissipative stochastic evolution equations driven by general Lévy processes. Furthermore, we prove existence and uniqueness of the invariant measure and the existence of an invariant set associated with the solutions under mild conditions, respectively.  相似文献

We establish the uniqueness of ground states of some coupled nonlinear Schrödinger systems in the whole space. We firstly use Schwartz symmetrization to obtain the existence of ground states for a more general case. To prove the uniqueness of ground states, we use the radial symmetry of the ground states to transform the systems into an ordinary differential system, and then we use the integral forms of the system. More interestingly, as an application of our uniqueness results, we derive a sharp vector-valued Gagliardo-Nirenberg inequality.  相似文献

Given a set of transmission eigenvalues, we apply Cartwright’s theory to show the density function inversely determines the indicator function. This indicator function gives a Weyl’s type of asymptotics on the transmission eigenvalues. The inverse uniqueness problem on the refraction index is reduced to identifying a parameter of an entire function. We use a Carlson’s type of theorem to prove the uniqueness as in entire function theory. Taking advantage of the uniqueness of rod density problem, we prove an uniqueness result with interior transmission eigenvalues.  相似文献

We study the existence and uniqueness of bounded weak solutions to a fractional sublinear elliptic equation with a variable coefficient, in the whole space. Existence is investigated in connection to a certain fractional linear equation, whereas the proof of uniqueness relies on uniqueness of weak solutions to an associated fractional porous medium equation with variable density.  相似文献

We consider optimal control problems for systems described by stochastic differential equations with delay (SDDE). We prove a version of Bellman's principle of optimality (the dynamic programming principle) for a general class of such problems. That the class in general means that both the dynamics and the cost depends on the past in a general way. As an application, we study systems where the value function depends on the past only through some weighted average. For such systems we obtain a Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman partial differential equation that the value function must solve if it is smooth enough. The weak uniqueness of the SDDEs we consider is our main tool in proving the result. Notions of strong and weak uniqueness for SDDEs are introduced, and we prove that strong uniqueness implies weak uniqueness, just as for ordinary stochastic differential equations.  相似文献

Summary We prove that under mild growth conditions, uniqueness holds for a multiple Walsh series whose square dyadic partial sums converge almost everywhere to an integrable function. We apply this result to obtain a new uniqueness result for Cesáro summable multiple Walsh series.  相似文献

We consider a stochastic differential equation in a Hilbert space with time-dependent coefficients for which no general existence and uniqueness results are known. We prove, under suitable assumptions, the existence and uniqueness of a measure valued solution, for the corresponding Fokker–Planck equation. In particular, we verify the Chapman–Kolmogorov equations and get an evolution system of transition probabilities for the stochastic dynamics informally given by the stochastic differential equation.  相似文献

In this paper, we prove the uniqueness of weak solutions for a pseudo-parabolic equation modeling two-phase flow in a porous medium, where dynamic effects are included in the capillary pressure. We transform the equation into an equivalent system, and then prove the uniqueness of weak solutions to the system which leads to the uniqueness of weak solutions for the original model.  相似文献
