The nuclear physics input from the 3He(alpha,gamma)7Be cross section is a major uncertainty in the fluxes of 7Be and 8B neutrinos from the Sun predicted by solar models and in the 7Li abundance obtained in big-bang nucleosynthesis calculations. The present work reports on a new precision experiment using the activation technique at energies directly relevant to big-bang nucleosynthesis. Previously such low energies had been reached experimentally only by the prompt-gamma technique and with inferior precision. Using a windowless gas target, high beam intensity, and low background gamma-counting facilities, the 3He(alpha,gamma)7Be cross section has been determined at 127, 148, and 169 keV center-of-mass energy with a total uncertainty of 4%. The sources of systematic uncertainty are discussed in detail. The present data can be used in big-bang nucleosynthesis calculations and to constrain the extrapolation of the 3He(alpha,gamma)7Be astrophysical S factor to solar energies.  相似文献

In the period from 2006 to 2016, experiments based on the use of the PAMELA and ARINA spectrometers and aimed at detecting cosmic rays were performed on board the RESURS-DK1 satellite. Although the main goal of these experiments was to study the galactic component of cosmic rays, the instruments in question also detected, over a broad energy range, solar particles accelerated in powerful explosive processes on the Sun (solar flares). A list of solar events in which the PAMELA and ARINA spectrometers detected, in various years of their operation, an increase in the intensities of fluxes of solar protons whose energies were above 45 MeV is presented among other things.  相似文献

We briefly report on the results of the absolute spectral measurements of solar radiation at the high-mountain station on Peak Terskol, the Caucasus, in 1989 and 1992, including the integral spectrum of the solar disc center, the entire disc, and the brightness temperature of the solar continuum. The fitting of the absolute spectral distribution data for the Sun and Vega with UBV multicolor photometry data is discussed. If neutrino conversions within the Sun result in partial polarization of initial solar neutrino fluxes, then a new opportunity arises to observe the 's in future neutrino experiments in the low energy region (such as BOREXINO or HELLAZ) and thus to probe the Majorana nature of the neutrinos. The conversions may take place for low energy solar neutrinos while being unobservable at the Kamiokande and Super-Kamiokande experiments.  相似文献

Research has been done on solar-terrestrial correlations on the basis of the organism model for the Earth, which suggests that the Earth affects the Sun by means of a natural energy and information flow and as a result of man-made factors. Changes in the Earth pattern affect regular processes in the solar system and cause new formations in solar activity. The production of neutrinos with energies higher than 0.1 GeV in the solar atmosphere during solar flares is discussed. Neutrinos and muons are generated in decays of π+- mesons produced in nuclear interactions of accelerated solar flare protons with matter of the Sun. Muons themselves decay yielding neutrinos. These neutrinos could come to the Earth and be detected with neutrino telescopes. Estimations of fluxes of such neutrinos are given.  相似文献

不同双原子分子电子态的势能(或振动能谱)的展开性质可能不同,文章将固定阶数的代数方法(AM)改进为可变阶数的代数方法,使得该方法可以研究各种不同性质(不同能量展开阶数)的双原子分子电子态,也可以解决光谱计算中可能出现的"蝴蝶效应"问题。利用阶数可变的AM方法研究了原来固定阶数的AM方法难以给出正确结果的N2-a′1Σu-,Li2+-2 2Σg+,4 He D+-X1Σ+和39 K85 Rb-(2)3Σ+等不同双核体系的完全振动能谱与离解能,不但得到了与实验数据精确相符的理论结果,还正确地预言了许多由于实验条件与技术原因而未能测得的物理数据。研究表明阶数可变的AM方法能够更广泛地用于研究各类双核电子态体系的完全振动能谱和体系离解能。  相似文献

The CNO cycle contributes only a small fraction to the energy generated in the Sun but there’s still no experimental data on exactly how small this contribution is. After the results of Borexino experiment the CNO neutrinos it is the last missing chain to compose the total picture of the energy generation of the Sun. To get precision in the evaluation of the flux of pp-neutrinos one needs to measure the flux of CNO neutrinos. Then it will be possible to address the question on the presence of still unknown (hidden) sources of solar energy and/or on the presence of sterile neutrinos. The future experimental program to measure the effect from CNO neutrinos is discussed.  相似文献

Features of propagation of relativistic solar cosmic rays in magnetic clouds have been considered on the basis of model calculations. Magnetic clouds have a structure of magnetic flux ropes and are extended from the Sun to the Earth via coronal mass ejections. Features of propagation of particles of different energies in a magnetic cloud are discussed. The propagation of high-energy solar protons in the loop-like structure of the interplanetary magnetic field in the event of October 28, 2003 is analyzed.  相似文献

This paper is a short pedagogical introduction to some aspects of the solar neutrino problem. The basic attention is concentrated on a qualitative consideration of the pp and CNO reactions responsible for hydrogen burning in the Sun, starting from an elementary derivation of the formula for the non-resonant thermonuclear reaction rate. We outline the physical content of the standard solar models, the problem of chemical composition of the Sun, expected neutrino energy spectrum, radial distributions of the neutrino fluxes in the Sun, and uncertainties in the predicted neutrino event rates.  相似文献

Although less than 1% of solar energy is generated in the CNO cycle, it plays a critical role in astrophysics, since this cycle is the primary source of energy in certain more massive stars and at later stages of evolution of solar-type stars. Electron neutrinos are produced in the CNO cycle reactions. These neutrinos may be detected by terrestrial neutrino detectors. Various solar models with different abundances of elements heavier than helium predict different CNO neutrino fluxes. A direct measurement of the CNO neutrino flux could help distinguish between these models and solve several other astrophysical problems. No CNO neutrinos have been detected directly thus far, and the best upper limit on their flux was set in the Borexino experiment. The work on reducing the background in the region of energies of CNO neutrinos (up to 1.74 MeV) and developing novel data analysis methods is presently under way. These efforts may help detect the CNO neutrino flux in the Borexino experiment at the level predicted by solar models.  相似文献

Proton events accompanied by hectometric radio bursts have been analyzed on the basis of the PROGNOZ-8 satellite measurements. Proton fluxes with energies E>100 MeV andE > 500 MeV were recorded in April and May 1981 from the powerful flares developed in large sunspot groups which existed on the Sun during two solar revolutions.  相似文献

It is shown that the Sun can become partially transparent to high energy photons in the presence of a pseudoscalar. In particular, if the axion interpretation of the PVLAS result were true, then up to 2% of GeV energy gamma rays might pass through the Sun, while an even stronger effect is expected for some axion parameters. We discuss the possibilities of observing this effect. Present data are limited to the observation of the solar occultation of 3C 279 by the Energetic Gamma-Ray Experiment Telescope in 1991; 98% C.L. detection of a nonzero flux of gamma rays passing through the Sun is not yet conclusive. Since the same occultation happens every October, future experiments, e.g., the Gamma-Ray Large Area Space Telescope, are expected to have better sensitivity.  相似文献

本文将孙卫国等建立的精确计算双原子分子离解能的解析表达式作为分子振动能级正确收敛的重要物理判据,应用代数方法,进一步研究了重要的碱金属Li2的5个电子态的完全振动能谱和离解能,获得了这些电子态的精确振动光谱常数,同时也得到了包括接近分子离解极限在内的完全振动能谱和与实验值符合得很好的理论离解能.这些计算结果为许多需要这些电子态振动数据的研究领域提供了重要的研究数据.  相似文献

The problem of computation of the present Sun model with a given sound speed profile in the solar radiation zone is considered. It is shown that the chemical composition is still a free parameter, but the entropy of the adiabatic part of the convective zone is determined by the simulation procedure. The parameters of the models are compared with the helioseismic calibration of the solar envelope and a disagreement is revealed. With the solar and SN87 neutrino observations as proofs of concepts, the kilometer-scale neutrino experiment IceCube will scrutinize its data for new particle physics. In this paper, we review the prospects for the realization of such a program. We begin with a short overview of the detector response and discuss the reach of “beam” luminosity. After that we discuss the potential of IceCube to probe deviations of neutrino-nucleon cross-sections from the Standard Model predictions at center-of-mass energies well beyond those accessible in man-made accelerators. Then we review the prospects for extremely long-baseline analyses and discuss the sensitivity to measure tiny deviations of the flavor mixing angle, expected to be induced by quantum gravity effects. Finally, we discuss the potential to uncover annihilation of dark matter particles gravitationally trapped at the center of the Sun, as well as processes occurring in the early Universe at energies close to the Grand Unification scale.  相似文献

The measurements of the ionization states, composition, energy spectra and spatial distribution of heavy ions of helium to iron of energies 10–100 MeV/amu in the anomalous cosmic rays are of major importance in understanding their origin which is unknown at present.Anuradha (IONS) cosmic ray experiment in Spacelab-3 was designed to determine the above properties in near earth space and this had a highly successful flight and operations aboard the shuttle Challenger at an orbital altitude of 352 km during 29 April to 6 May 1985. The instrument employs solid state nuclear track detectors (CR-39) of high sensitivity and large collecting area of about 800 cm2 and determines the arrival time information of particles with active elements. Experimental methods, flight operations and preliminary results are briefly described. Initial results indicate that relatively high fluxes of low energy cosmic ray α-particles, oxygen group and heavier ions were obtained. The flight period corresponded to that of quiet Sun and the level of solar activity was close to solar minimum. It is estimated that about 10,000 events of low energy cosmic ray alpha particles with time annotation are recorded in the detector together with similar number of events of oxygen and heavier ions of low energy cosmic rays. The authors felicitate Prof. D S Kothari on his eightieth birthday and dedicate this paper to him on this occasion.  相似文献
