C. H. Taubes asked whether a closed (i.e. compact and without boundary) connected oriented three-dimensional manifold whose product with a circle admits a symplectic structure must fiber over a circle. An affirmative answer to Taubes' question would imply that any such manifold either is diffeomorphic to the product of a two-sphere with a circle or is irreducible and aspherical. In this paper, we prove that this implication holds up to connect sum with a manifold which admits no proper covering spaces with finite index. It is pointed out that Thurston's geometrization conjecture and known results in the theory of three-dimensional manifolds imply that such a manifold is a three-dimensional sphere. Hence, modulo the present conjectural picture of three-dimensional manifolds, we have shown that the stated consequence of an affirmative answer to Taubes' question holds.

In this work we define a relative version of the flux homomorphism, introduced by Calabi in 1969, for a symplectic manifold. We use it to study (the universal cover of) the group of symplectomorphisms of a symplectic manifold leaving a Lagrangian submanifold invariant. We also show that some quotients of the universal covering of the group of symplectomorphisms are stable under symplectic reduction.

We study the near diagonal asymptotic expansion of the generalized Bergman kernel of the renormalized Bochner-Laplacian on high tensor powers of a positive line bundle over a compact symplectic manifold. We show how to compute the coefficients of the expansion by recurrence and give a closed formula for the first two of them. As a consequence, we calculate the density of states function of the Bochner-Laplacian and establish a symplectic version of the convergence of the induced Fubini-Study metric. We also discuss generalizations of the asymptotic expansion for non-compact or singular manifolds as well as their applications. Our approach is inspired by the analytic localization techniques of Bismut and Lebeau.  相似文献

Warped product manifolds are known to have applications in physics. For instance, they provide an excellent setting to model space-time near a black hole or a massive star (cf. [9]). The studies on warped product manifolds with extrinsic geometric point of view were intensified after the B.Y. Chen's work on CR-warped product submanifolds of Kaehler manifolds (cf. [6], [7]). Later on, similar studies were carried out in the setting of l.c.K. manifolds and nearly Kaehler manifolds (cf. [3], [11]). In the present article, we investigate a larger class of warped product submanifolds of l.c.K. manifolds, ensure their existence by constructing an example of such manifolds and obtain some important properties of these submanifolds. With regard to the CR-warped product submanifold, a special case of generic warped product submanifolds, we obtain a characterization under which a CR-submanifold is reducesd to a CR-warped product submanifold.  相似文献

We define and study both bi-slant and semi-slant submanifolds of an almost contact metric manifold and, in particular, of a Sasakian manifold. We prove a characterization theorem for semi-slant submanifolds and we obtain integrability conditions for the distributions which are involved in the definition of such submanifolds. In this paper we construct six-dimensional compact non-Kähler Hamiltonian circle manifolds which satisfy the strong Lefschetz property themselves but nevertheless have a non-Lefschetz symplectic quotient. This provides the first known counterexamples to the question whether the strong Lefschetz property descends to the symplectic quotient. We also give examples of Hamiltonian strong Lefschetz circle manifolds which have a non-Lefschetz fixed point submanifold. In addition, we establish a sufficient and necessary condition for a finitely presentable group to be the fundamental group of a strong Lefschetz manifold. We then use it to show the existence of Lefschetz four-manifolds with non-Lefschetz finite covering spaces.  相似文献

A symplectic form is called hyperbolic if its pull-back to the universal cover is a differential of a bounded one-form. The present paper is concerned with the properties and constructions of manifolds admitting hyperbolic symplectic forms. The main results are:
• If a symplectic form represents a bounded cohomology class then it is hyperbolic.
• The symplectic hyperbolicity is equivalent to a certain isoperimetric inequality.
• The fundamental group of symplectically hyperbolic manifold is non-amenable.
We also construct hyperbolic symplectic forms on certain bundles and Lefschetz fibrations, discuss the dependence of the symplectic hyperbolicity on the fundamental group and discuss some properties of the group of symplectic diffeomorphisms of a symplectically hyperbolic manifold.

In this paper, we consider deforming a coisotropic submanifold Y in a holomorphic Poisson manifold (X,π). Under the assumption that Y has a holomorphic tubular neighborhood, we associate Y with an L-algebra that controls the deformations of Y. This L-algebra can also be extended to control the simultaneous deformations of the holomorphic Poisson structure π and the coisotropic submanifold Y.  相似文献
